Best TPU cover and tempered glass screen protector? - Huawei Mate 20 X Accessories

Hi,
I ordered one cover and screen protector and they are a bit disappointing. The cover is a bit slippery and the tempered glass screen protector has sharp/hard edges. So anyone can recommend me better tpu cover and full screen protector? Those titles with 3D 5D 6D tempered protector are confusing and not clear at all to me.
I see the ones from Nillkin are good? Current screen protector I've applied today showed the rainbow effect, what does it mean exactly?

After buying quite a few cases for this phone, this is the best case I've come across. It's not the most protective against drops, but it is a really great case.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/283241738671
The screen protector I'm currently using is a tpu style much like this one. I could never find a glass one that fit correctly.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/233013046340
The "D" related to tempered glass has to do with the hardness of the glass. The higher the number the harder the glass. I've never really trusted those numbers when it comes to the $1.99 protectors on eBay rated as a 9D. I've used a lot of them, but didn't really think they were really 9Ds.
Edit: The "D" I was referring to was actually the "H" score that is sometimes given with glass protectors. Sorry for the confusion.

I didn't know there are tpu screen protectors. What's your experience with it?
I thought the D are for how round the edges are. I had a screen protector and the edges were not round, just plain hard/sharp.

It does the job. Covers the entire screen. Feels a bit rubbery. Your finger doesn't glide as smoothly as on a glass protector, but it's not a horrible experience. Covers and protects the entire screen. That's good enough for me.
You're right. The "D" is for the rounded edges. I was thinking of the "H" that is given with the hardness score. My bad.

Does the screen protector also covers the black borders around the screen? I once had screen protector that didn't covered the black borders, not even the screen, more like 95% so it got the rainbow effect. It was very clear and annoying when watching content or browsing.
The H is for hardness, yes. The D is pretty overused, 2.5D, 3D, 5D, 6D and so on. Atm rebought the screen protectors I was happy with and also from Nillkin. So gotta find out which is fine and if not, the tpu version you linked.
I think I'll stick with tpu case I got it included when I bought the phone. I just doesn't understand why it got fuzzy or foggy(?).

Yep. It covers the screen from edge to edge. You just have to be really careful putting it on. Perfectly clear. No rainbow effect at all.
Ha ha. Yeah, the included tpu case was clear for about three weeks for me. Turned milky white after that. I wash it with warm, soapy water every once in a while, but it fogs up again within a few weeks.

Haha, so it was not me getting crazy. I think I'll keep using the original tpu back cover, it's the most sturdiest, anti-slippery and protective one. It's not like I'm showing everyone the back of my phone anyway.

I have that one too. It's really great for protection, but the raised edges of the case get in the way if you are using gestures in stead of the navigation buttons.

Just got this one and put it on. This is the best screen protector that I've found. Completely covers the screen. It's very smooth to the touch. Really happy with it.

just curios, but is there enough difference in these to warrant the +$22 premium in price???
TPU case
I have many cases as well, but this one Leather "Porsche Design" Type Case is by far my favorite. Very premium feeling with a nice protective lip, but not high enough to hinder the navigation gestures. Tempered glass screen protector fit just fine with no issues(don't use one anymore, but I did when it was new...), and the leather has held up quite nicely. Excellent grip from this case. It's kind of hard to see in some of the pics, but it does have the Porsche Design logo stamped into the center panel.

Well, I just received that one and honestly, it's not very good.
Feels cheap, and there's very little front lip for protection.
The pictures on that listing are misleading.

The texture? or you don't like the 'ridges'?

Are these tempered glass screen protectors full adhesive or just adhesive on the sides?

Just fitted a supershieldz from Amazon USA. Fit was good but a little disappointed that it was dot matrix design. Its not very noticeable but would have preferred a full adhesive glass one. Does one exist?

Gf bought me a standstone rubber case and it's great. Similar thickness to the original, but in black sandstone.

[Q] s-pen/stylus with screen protector

how well does stylus work with screen protectors, anyone had good/bad experience?
I am looking at buying anti glare one
i understand that there is 'increase touch sensitivity' mode in settings that can also help?
Well all are bad after time, I mean the pen doesn't slide good and that's why I use tempered glass.

I have a mime feather tempered glass and the s pen works just like nothing is there. I'd assume any of the tempered glass covers get the same results.

i have seen these tempered glass on sale but they all look chunky, are they really much noticeable in terms of weight and thickness?

I've got the iloome Flex and love it. Only about .12 mm thick compared to most tempered glass protectors that are around .40-.60mm thick. Zero effect on stylus

Considering that witht the seperate s pen digitizer you can use your pen juat aboce without touching screen protector should have zero effect on it.

I'm using an Anker Xtreme Scratch Defender screen protector and am having no problems with the s pen.
No Worries...
I use amzer shatterproof screen protector on my N3 and am also using the stylus from a quite long time and I have not faced any problem in using it...its working smooth and fine...yes tempered glass screen protector works well but I would say my screen protector is also working really well...
Don't worry about what screen protector you get (except the real rubbery ones/wet apps) whether it be tempered glass or pet when it comes to the s-pen. Get the one you want, try the s-pen out and if it's too sticky replace the tip with the plastic tips included with your phone. The one that's installed out of the box is the rubber tip so it'll stick to pet more and function better with tg. The plastic tip slid easily on both. Personally I liked the rubber on tg because the resistance reminds me of actually writing with a pencil.
You have to look very carefully at the tip of the replacements and you should see a difference between some of them. I believe 3 rubber ones and 2 plastic ones are included in the replacement tips.
My personal recommendation (I've tried the spigen tr, spigen ultraclear pet, 8 dollar ebay TG, and Nillkin H+) is the Nillkin H+ which is about $16 if I remember correctly. Perfect tempered glass screen protector and the price is significantly lower than spigen and iloome(except flex).
Edit: and you shouldn't worry about using increased sensitivity or anything, I personally haven't heard of a case where the screen protector has caused issues.

Ya a normal PET one will usually do the trick, but on such a beautiful screen the smudge marks which gather more on PET just ruined it for me, not to mention the tackyness. If you ever want to treat yourself pick up this guy (included UK link for you),

I'm using the mime feather light and it's amazing .smoother then stock imo.
The S-Pen does not use the capacitive digitizer and "Increase Touch Sensitivity" will do nothing. If you read up on the way the Wacom digitizer for the S-Pen works, you will see that the digitizer tracks the S-Pen's location above it and S-Pen itself is what signals when contact was made and how much pressure was applied, so the thickness of the glass doesn't matter as long as it is in range of the Wacom digitizer (where the pointer is visible).
I use the crystal clear from spigen and changed the tip of s-pen to plastic one and it works flawlessly.

Screen protector

Has anyone found any screen protectors, film, PET, glass, etc. that cover the entire screen correctly? I've already ordered a film one that was all misaligned and didn't cover it well.
I hear that Zagg is coming out with one that's pretty awesome. It supposedly wrap around entirely, front to back.
I must be lucky because I never use a screen protector and have never experienced a broken screen, just use a Otterbox commuter.

Anybody else having issues with SPIGEN?
Don't seem to be sticking at the edges of the protector
I picked up an amFilm glass screen protector -- it's supposed to be full screen coverage.
I think I'll wait on ordering a glass screen protector until someone actually gets one installed and thinks it looks right. I'm wanting an edge to edge one. Even the Amfilm does not mention it's curved or not. Edge to Edge and curved to go to the edges are two different things.

I've found the IQ Shield wet apply to be a decent alternative to tempered glass. Not quite as smooth and clear, but excellent fit and protection.

Second the Skinomi Matte, fits nicely. The Edge display looks a bit different under it, like the skin itself is lighting up not like it's a layer on top of the display. Previously used a tempered glass on my GS5 so this is a big difference. Touch feel of the skin is good. Had to remember how to put on a protector cleanly though, took a couple tries to get it done (but I had budgeted one 'practice' protector to burn).
Haven't noticed a rainbow effect though.
Spigen ones cover the whole screen (not full coverage) and from S6 experiance they are actually slightly wider than the active parts of the screen, unliek most ones I have seen that are exactly the same width as the screen.
Can someone confirm that the front dimesions of S6/S7 are the same? Have some spigen ones left and guessing they will fit exactly the same?

Indeed, i always buy spigen screen/glass protectors but this time they're not very different from others.
Tbh i tried other screen protectors and spigen ones are the best, they don't stick for less than 1mm but it's away from perfect anyway.

Best Clear Case and Screen Protector for the S8

So I'm getting my S8 today but I still don't have anythong for its protection.
1.) What is the best CLEAR case for this device that gives it basic (slim but not too slim)? I also want to have that raised lip for the fingerprint sensor in the back.
2.) For screen protectors, is Temperd Glass recommended for curved devices? If so, which one is best?
I want to have the total cost for these at a minimal as I don't feel like spnding a lot just for the these basic accessories.
Thanks for the help!
Well I wasted almost 30 bucks on screen protectors and the only thing I can say is DO NOT buy any 3D tempered glass that is supposed to cover whole front. The main problem here is the adhesive which is located only on edges of the protector. There is air between screen and protector, which sometimes decreases touch responsivity, forcing you to apply some pressure in certain areas so that the input is registered. Also, most of these 3D glass protectors collide with many cases, so they simply don't work. Personally, just go for some decent case that will secure your device from drop, like RhinoShield or Spigen Neo Hybrid. If you care about design and don't want to lose it, go for something clear and thin/ultra thin
I bought a Baseus case from eBay and lobe it so much. So thin and light and matches perfectly. They are in Amazon too.
Also works with my Darth Vader skin that I have on the back so it still shows that off.

I strongly thinking of going back to no protector. I tried glass and the White Stone dome one was great except the glue on the side kept chipping out and looked terrible. I've got a film protector on now from Best Buy Canada and again it feels so crappy compared to the naked screen. If I remove it I'll still be careful but I do have insurance just in case. I already don't use a case (only a skin) for the very same reason...that I want to enjoy the feel and look of this beauty, not cover to up to protect it for someone else in the future.

I did that with my HTC 10 for a year for the same reason and it has no scratches or micro-abrasions at all. I think it's pretty safe to assume the S8 will be no different. As for going caseless... I wouldn't recommend that for a device mainly made of glass lol. Check out the Supcase review I just posted and try it out if you like. If not, return it or at least you'd have something to put on your phone when you're going somewhere or doing something that may cause you to drop it.

Right, I don't have a doubt regarding their genuineness. It's just that there are other screen protectors like the Spigen Neo Flex that costs $8.99 for a 2-pack as well. Same goes for the clear cases, there are others that are significantly cheaper than the Samsung. So I'm just wondering how do these fare with the official Samsung ones. Any thoughts?

I just finished installing the Whitestone Dome tempered glass screen protector. Initial thoughts so far is it's the best on the market hands down. Make sure you check for case compatibility before you purchase it though. The price is a little steep at $45 but well worth it IMO. The adhesive is under the entire glass and uses a UV to cure. Clarity and touch performance seem to be spot on. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06Z...+galaxy+s8&dpPl=1&dpID=51W7ozwV4HL&ref=plSrch

I know, it's not glass, but it's supposed to be harder then glass, and got now it's the cheapest solution for having a protection this good that adheres to all the device's screen.
And I've seen that it's case friendly and that not that bad in touchscreen sensitivity!

Me too, in Midnight Black color! Very elegant and nice.
Haven't understand yet if the clear back will become yellow or not in time...

The Spigen ultra hybrid on my S7 Edge stayed pretty much clear the year I had it. I'm using a Armorsuit Military screen protector. It's not glass but it will do for now. It's really difficult to find a tempered glass protector for a curved screen. It seems like all if them are junk. I wait and let others experiment until there is one that really works without issues.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XXTRWBL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
For clear case, my recommendation would be the Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear or the Otterbox Symmetry Clear. The otterbox is slightly chunkier but not much.
As for a screen protector I've tried the Samsung official one and the Spigen Neo Flex.
The Samsung one is a dry application and therefore is extremely difficult to get on right without dust spots. I tried it on 3 different phones and didn't get either of them right, even with the dust removal sticker.
The Spigen Neo Flex is a wet application which is far better cause when it dries out it leaves no dust spots or air bubbles. But imo the corners aren't a perfect fit for most cases. Again I tried a few and even with Spigen cases the corners lifted on all of them. A little trimming of the corners with a scalpel solved this. This protector isn't as clear looking as the Samsung dry film but is of the "military material type" and so self heals with any minor dings and scratches. I'd trim the corners a little (follow the contour of the corner and trim off a mm or two) before applying this for best adhesion on all corners for a case. It def has a slightly different feel to screen but at rhe moment I think this is the best solution of at the moment to protect out precious S8 screens.
Hope this helps.

Best full coverage tempered glass screen protectors?

Hi all,
I'm looking for a good glass screen protector that covers the whole screen (usually they are ones with a black or white border), but I'm really struggling to find good makes. I tried a protector from LK, but the glass was pretty cloudy and had a 'rainbow' effect raising our from the centre of the protector, it also turned out to be a disaster to remove, with the strong adhesive leaving adhesive marks and shattered glass as I tried to remove it!
Anyone else had any experience with other protectors and could make a recommendation?
I tried the 2 from Nillkin, but only one had full coverage with black edges. The glass was fine, but the edges looked cheap and tacky.
There is a video of full screen glass on YT and the guy that posted the video has posted videos here (unofficial Huawei), but he's just a shill and has no interest in answering questions, just promoting products.

I use Mofis tempered glass (full coverage). It's working like a charm.

A friend of mine got this brand, he got it from china, it's called called smartdevil, although it's only a OEM brand, anyway, it includes a frame for accurate placement of the protector, full coverage glass protector with about 1/2mm rim to accommodate a case, liquid filler to fill up the sids rim.
no link will be provided unless you intend to flight to china to buy it, just to let you know they are available so may be some searching you can find it online or similar item since it's only a oem product.
I also had a horrible experience with the LK screen protector. Rainbow effect in the middle and really annoying adhesive at the top and bottom. The transparent screen itself was also not very clear.
I then switched to an OMOTON brand one and it is amazing! Fingerprint and smudge resistant. Fits perfectly, full coverage across the screen. Looks sturdy. Cutouts perfect. Only downside is that it ends a bit short at the top and bottom, so still exposed there unless you use a case with a lip.
Avoid LK, and give the OMOTON one a try.

Glad I'm not the only one with a bad experience with LK. Looks like the transparent Omoton protectors that don't cover the full screen are easy enough to find, but I'm struggling to find the full coverage one where did you get yours from?

I got my OMOTON screen protector from Amazon (prime delivery - fulfilled by Amazon). You're right, it isn't full coverage (smaller than LK's one). But its close enough to full coverage if you have a tpu case that has a good lip.
Yesterday I got my Omoton tempered glass (Amazon.co.uk), and I am dissatisfied - the glass does not fit properly on the display (air space on both sides)...
This is Nillkin's. Similar size* but adheres perfectly (sorry for crap picture).
I also tried their 3D version (full screen) but it makes the phone look very cheap.
*Actually the Omoton looks wider.

My friend has the same protector and it comes with a liquid adhesive to fill the gaps.

What was it about the 3D version you felt looked cheap? Was it easy to remove the screen protector?
Right now I'm using the GhostShield by TechGear. They are relatively cheap and difficult to install, but after watching a video on installing them, it was a little easier. They are extremely thin - almost invisible and are self healing, but any dust caught under the protector will result in a bumpy surface. I'm also not entirely sure how great the protection is they offer. My Ringke Fusion case started lifting the to corners of the protector, but I think I stretched the protector (really easy to do with a membrane protector this thin!) slightly as I tried to get the bubbles off the surface.
Still looking for the best solution to protect my screen...

The plastic borders. It was very easy to remove as the plastic borders don't really have much in the way of adhesive.
I will try a Cafele next, when I can be bothered to order one.
Just got both of these two delivered from www.taobao.cn
first one is a anti blue ray with installation frame for exact right positioning and liquid filler for those air gaps along the edges of the protector, the second one is a normal tempered glass protector as a two piece package with the same accessories.

Could you share full link, please? Would like to buy one for mom Thank you
I got Omoton full coverage tempered glass but i am afraid its not compatible with silicone cases? It is good screen protector but sadly not ideal for cases.
It looks like cases lift screen protector on edges slightly so air gets underneath... Any good screen protectors that are not full coverage so i can still use case?
I bought the nilkin glas but the black borders around the screen protector takes a lot of screen space, I don't recommend it!

Benks have a really good one, it's a full coverage with white or black boarder (adhesive covers throughout the whole glass, not just the edges), just like those on the iphone, it curves and cover the edges.
Benks have two version, KR PRO this is also full coverage, glass & plastic sided and XPro+ full glass coverage.
I am using the Benks XPro+ full glass cover and I think it's great. It's a 3D glass screen protector, covers the screen perfectly, right to the edges, with no air bubles. Also it has an oleophobic coating.

Best glass screen protector by far

Zagg InvisibleShield is a perfect fit and it barely looks like there's a screen protector on at all. By far the best I've tried and seen.
i bought the Spigen glass from amazon for about 10€, i am very happy with it. but im gonna buy yours in case mine breaks then i can decide which one i liked more

Used to work for geek squad and i used to fit these for £6 a pop.
I got mine in the post for£11.99 for the extreme 9H
Is very thick but so so clear.
No rainbow and id advise to not use any water at all just be very very accurate.
It sticks but my pushing has scratched the surface to get the bubbles out.
Besides that this tempered glass SP is as good as any zagg
A true beast, thanks for reminding me mate :good:
PS. Will take a pic, you do the same.

You have to order it over the phone as it's not listed on their website for some reason. Or you could buy one from ebay or at a Vodafone store. No one else stocks it as far as I can see.
Don't know the price of the Zagg one, but these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07D766DVT/ are also absolutely spot on. £10 for 2 - Full adhesion, perfect responsiveness and curved to edges so looks great. Works fine in all cases I've used so far too. Supplied clear, Official Flip and also this metal one
Highly recommend the ultimate shield tempered glass
https://www.ultimateshield.co.uk/co...uawei-p20-pro-tempered-glass-screen-protector
I had the spidgen glass but it had slight ghosting down the sides. The ultimateshield is perfect fit, no oily effect, no ghosting, no dot matrix, perfect so far
I am using this for the past three months. Perfect and easy to install. No bubbles or wrinkles..

Actually that is the one I've got it's not a zagg mine. I installed with water and it was a pain to get it all out.
The ridges are high so cases can be a problem, my ringke lifts the sides so bubbles appear, easy smudged down.
