PIP (picture-in-picture) not working! - OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Questions & Answers

Hi there,
Is PIP disabled by default in ColorOS?
I can't seem to run PIP with apps like VLC and google maps.
If so, is there a workaround?

ok good to know that it is working and not disabled in ColorOS ...
I need to check my settings maybe background apps are not configured for me or some battery settings...

hmmm... I figured it out... it was the virtual navigation keys... i was using swipe gestures and PIP was not working... switched to virtual keys and now PIP is working like a charm...
seems like a bug for me...

Flashlight app

I can't open the flashlight app. It says that i don't have the rights to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi, I think it only works if you are using the stock launcher... I'm using NOVA launcher and it doesn't work... Using the in-built Huawei widgets doesn't work with Nova either....you've got to use ones from the play store etc.
Solution:- use the torch feature from the notification tray. Hope this helps.

From what I've seen, none of the Huawei-supplied widgets work with third-party launchers - I tried putting the Huawei weather widget onto Nova and it crashed it (necessitating an uninstall-reinstall to fix).
There are three ways to get your torch to work;
Access it from the notification pull-down
Draw a letter on the screen with your knuckle (needs to be enabled in "Smart Assistance" - I use "c" for camera, "e" for torch, "m" for PlayerPro and "w" for weather), or
Swipe up from the lock screen.
Of these, I've found the last to be most convenient - the most likely times that you'll want your torch are when your 'phone's locked.

New Update: 9.0.0.183 (Nova Launcher Compatibility fixed?)

I have disabled the stock launcher since I installed Nova Launcher for my Huawei Mate 20 Pro. After updating to 9.0.0.183, the animations seem to be working fine already.
Anybody else have the same experience?

I just disabled the Launcher. It's working fine now after updating to 9.0.0.183
The only thing that's annoying me now is the front facing camera's stubborn beauty mode that cannot be disabled.
I have loaded the update 182 (yes 182 not 183) from funky Huawei about two weeks ago and that has fixed the one minor issue I've had with Nova Launcher.
It has been working perfectly fine since then.
My only issue now is that the Nova Launcher support has sent me an angry reply to my request because I own a Mate 20 Pro.
Those guys are pretty angry because of the accusations of Huawei intentionally sabotaging them.

I use nova launcher.
you dont understand... can you install newest pixel or lawnchair launcher and set it as default, and give all permissions (and since you disabled the launcher you have to use the navkeys right? ) then reboot.... and look if the new pie gesture ui kicks in.... the recent overview and pill navbar.
get the. apk from xda or apk mirror
because the launcher is responsible for the navigation gestures in android P.
realy hate the emui gestures and wish to use stock android P gestures
this will take max 15min. of your time but help me forever.
thanks in advance

I hope this is the case for me. I stopped using Nova because the gesture is just so stuttery and buggy when using it.
You have an unread badge count for email, whatsapp etc using nova and tesla? Mine doesn't tho I have enabled all in the settings
With 187 nova works flawless without bug with stock gesture

Really? So when swiping up to go to home screen it doesn't show the recent apps for a split second and then go home? It's definitely a bug others have experienced when using gesture nav on emui.

No it works like stock launcher
The gesture navigation works ALMOST perfectly with nova launcher. This is the best I could ask for. But just let me point out some scenarios that it stutters a little bit.
1. The animation when close an app is gone. You can't see the app fading into its position on the home page.
2. The gestures are a bit more sensitive on nova than stock EMUI. For example, swipe up and hold for recent apps. On EMUI launcher, it is about 0.5 seconds. However on nova, it is more like 0.3. Thus I often hold for too long and end up on recent apps instead of home page.
3. Under some special circumstances, the background picture for recent apps screen is the previous app you used. It looks extremely weird. I didn't manage to get a SS of it. Will upload once it happens again.
Having said all of that. I feel this 183 update improved the gestures navigation by a huge leap! Just need time to get use to it.

This was what I was talking about. The recent apps screen bug. But it is not a deal breaker to stop using nova.

I had to go home again to get it to start working. I had to manually perform the gesture to go to home (I have gesture UI rather than the traditional 3 button interface).

[LAUNCHER][NO ROOT] Xperia launcher alternative

Hi folks,
Bored of stock Xperia launcher?
Here's the best alternative, Lawnchair.
Google play version is outdated but you'll find latest update here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/delet...627-ci-q-merge-android-apk-download/download/
You will need Lawnfeed to enable Google left panel: https://lawnchair.app/lawnfeed/?ref=lawnchair
Enjoy
I like the way that Lawnchair Launcher looks overall, but I do not like that I can not hide the dock. I prefer having a full screen look where possible.
I like it but I don't like the clock, I wish you could get rid of that and use your own..

What???
No clock nor dock...
You should try the settings ?
Show me where...
in the settings. I did not see anything for hiding either dock or clock. I must have missed something or it simply did not jump out and bite me to make it obvious as to what was needed to be done.
Edited to correct misspelling.

I went into the Dock settings and I saw nothing that said "Hide Dock".
I have Nova Launcher now and I can Peek a Boo the dock with a swipe gesture so that it is not always present and disappears when not needed.
That is what I am looking for here. Am I missing something here?
Hey great, thanks for pointing that out...have a look at what I've done...if Lawnchair 2 did a clock like that I would be happy...or if you could mod the clock, colour it, resize it, change the padding around it, and the icons for the weather....so I could make it look like that..
Either way, it looks a million times better than the Xperia launcher so thanks for the advice...
Happy to be able to create folders in the app drawer.
Anybody knows how to get rid of the white line below the dock?

Via adb, you could try:
wm overscan 0,0,0,-30
And to revert:
wm overscan 0,0,0,0
Bear in mind that this simply moves the nav bar below the bezel, some full screen apps react differently to this. Good luck.
I also like the Lawnchair Launcher a lot, but it cannot work with gestures navigation without quickswitch magisk moudle, which is pity like all other launchers

Youtube PIP and gestures

Is there any fix for Youtube PIP and gestures? I know swyping back twice jumps into the PIP player, but there is an error with the PIP player as well. When yoh touch it the window realignses itself and you don't see the full video anymore. Look at the image in the attachment.
Is this fixed in Android 11?
