Why there isn't HDR mode in google camera in kenzo. Is there any way to get this feature?
HDR will only work with Snap Camera. No other apps can use HDR. its on all custom ROMs
Snap camera ain't getting installed. Gives storage error.
flash the camera Libs and then move the Snap Camera to System apps.

Everything seems to be working without any issues - it has some cool camera modes not in the stock camera.
I will use this for the night sight because I hear it's better than MIUI's version.
But I'll keep MIUI camera for front facing pictures:
gcam front facing flash lights up screen rather than uses the torch at the front.
In gcam settings, front camera photo resolution maximum is 6.2 megapixels instead of 24MP.
gcam has digital zoom! This is good - stock doesn't have digital zoom.
Does anyone have any opinion on MIUI camera vs gcam for daytime pictures though (mix 3)? It's night time here so I can't compare yet.
Looks like gcam does not use the optical zoom (2x) like stock does. Only digital zoom available. So stock camera may be better here for far away shots.

Using the telephoto lens is different on GCam 6.2 version, it was easier on previous versions. IIRC, you have to go to settings (settings > advanced > on the bottom there is a "Switch to the auxiliary back camera" switch) every time you want to use the telephoto lens. A bit annoying but there's nothing we can do about that, I'm afraid.

I have just found a decent Google Camera apk that mostly works for the Honor 8 and with it, I take better photos on the OpenKirin ROMs with this than the Huawei Camera ever could.
WORKING:
-Taking a photo
-Bokeh mode
-360° panorama
-Google Lens (with the Google Lens Enabler Magisk module)
NOT WORKING:
-Video crashes the app.
-Panorama is REALLY SLOW.
-Night Sight crashes the app.
-Time Lapse crashes the app.
-Taking a portrait photo breaks the app. If the error occurred with you, you should force close the app, delete its data in the Settings and restart the phone. If it doesn't help, you have to reinstall the app.

Try this version - https://www.cyanogenmods.org/downloads/huawei-generic-google-camera-apk/
It's based on a slightly older version, but everything works except Slo-mo. I'm using footej camera for slo-mo and huawei camera for night shots. Should work like a charm.:good:
Taken with the GCam mod 7.3.018-V2.8.1. with this miss the telephoto and wide angle camera also work
The first picture on the left was taken the stock camera app.
The second picture was taken with the GCam app, I like it better than Gcam camera app. Look at the detail on the headlamps. Pictures taken with stock settings
So why you use gcam
