Notes

I've been using this on my T585 since yesterday and I have to say it's amazing!
Nice and smooth, tons of options and the home button wake works out of the box, woohoo :victory:
It does have sysserv, so Substratum themes don't need a reboot to get applied. My version did not have the Substratum key added, not sure if this final version does. I'll post the key apk once I find out if it needs to be installed seperately :good:
It's a grrrrrrrreat rom ... try it if you have the time
Screenshots are with Flare Substratum Theme btw
Edit: So I talked to @srgrusso and the key is NOT included. I've added it to my post now - if you want to use Substratum simply install the app and then the attached Substratum Key 1.0.apk. Then you can build + install your overlays and head to the Manager tab, select them and enable. No more reboots
Substratum key removed since it's now included in the rom :good:

How does it compare to stock or rr remix? Stock ROM is smooth as butter. I tried rr remix but some games I play ran poorly on it so I went back to stock and the performance was drastically different.

I can't tell how well it runs games since I've only played PUBG on mine. I never even considered play games on mine because of the specs. I always play my games on my OnePLus 6T. There are some differences between the stock rom and most of the custom roms you find here for the this tablet. Most of the code has been converted to 64bit where the stock rom only runs 32bit code. Also the custom roms are running a different kernel. The only thing I can say is try it and let us know.

correct, i forgot about that. substryatum.key is missing from this rom, maybe srgrussu can include it in source (same was on our lg v30)

I can't tell you that, I have a PC to play games on and never play on my tablet/phone ... plus I was only on stock with this device for exactly 2 days when I got it back in November

No idea how many users actually use Substratum anyway though ... but hey, installing the apk takes 2 seconds, so that shouldn't be a problem

So I went ahead and flashed this rom and I gotta say it runs pretty smooth, just as smooth as the stock rom. I did notice though for some reason when you have gboard in float mode there's a white line that runs across the screen where the full size board would be, it doesn't do that on stock or any of the other roms I've tried.
Overall I say this is a pretty great rom thank you for working/releasing it.

Substratum key has been added. No need to install it anymore.
To see complete change log see link in post #2

I dirty flashed the update without any issues :victory:
These steps should be followed though, if you already have Substratum AND the seperate key installed:
Disable or uninstall all overlays
Uninstall Substratum
Go into apps/all apps, find the Substratum Key (NOT the helper) and uninstall that too.
Then you can dirty flash, wipe dalvik/cache, boot up and install Substratum again.
Now while building the overlays Substratum MIGHT flake out on you and show you an empty screen with that spinning circle, but you should see it still building them all in the notification area. It's simply a visual glitch, but it still works :good:

This probably isn't the right place to ask this question but I don't know where else to ask. When I google "Substratum", looks like some sort of special VPN network. But the XDA forum makes it look like another "theme" UI for Android. Which is it?

Well, look it up in the Playstore - https://play.google.com/store/search?q=substratum&c=apps
The top hit is the Substratum theme engine you need to run the many amazing themes, the other hits are some of themes

are these links to separate kernel files, that we install with TWRP on an already installed ROM, or are these files of the ROMs, that include the overclocked kernel?

Yea, RR is nice too ... but LiquidRemix has more options. Somehow RR Pie lost a ton of options that were still available on Oreo, no clue why.
But luckily we can all like different things ... life would be very boring otherwise :good:

Thanks for that awesome rom, super fast and solid as a rock, full of features, some that I never see on other rom like otg usb notification unmount, it's the best rom that i tried on my tab pro, continue your great job
Thank you so much for making a thread. Ive had your first build for a while. To update should i just flash on top of temasek and wipe dalvik?

I did that and a got problem with head up
With clean install result is perfect
Thanks, works well. Some quirks:
Xposed doesn't work, bootloop even with no modules. I've tried several times. If you try take a backup first, the only way out of the bootloop is restore or reflash the ROM, You can dirty flash.
I can't get the app bar to auto hide. Turned it off.
Clear all in recents still kills everything, no matter the setting for leave foreground task.
What is up with the halo around a heads up notification? My phone does it as well, using a custom cm12.1 with addons similar to this ROM. Yuk.
Overall a great ROM, fc issues gone I have to refute the Titanium advice, use it all the time and is the only way I can bear swapping ROMs so easily. I have no problems with it unless going from Android 5.x to 4 since the files systems aliases are different. Use restorecon if you do this.

I wouldn't install xposed on such a feature heavy rom. It would be fine on cm or euphoria but temasek has a lot of stuff. There is bound to be conflicts when trying to add features to an already feature packed rom.

Thanks, each to his own. I rather like XToast
This is the first ROM that won't even boot after flashing the Xposed zip. Including the previous Temasek. Just thought I would mention it, perhaps save someone the bother.
Cheers.

I've just discovered titanium doesn't work. I know it was in the first post but was able to restore all apps no problem. Now it can't see any. That's a deal breaker. Back to cm.

I used TB without a problem. This is a very smooth ROM. I had a few small problems with Resurrection, this one seems perfect! Even the occasional slow down or freeze is gone.
Thanks for the great work, vasumit!
Cheers,
Rich
Flashed this today to get rid of that damn touchwiz lag...Works good so far.
I can't get screen cast to work...is it working for anyone else.?
Wow another ROM from your hand I am currently using your Resurrection ROM and besides the play services stopping now and then its a great ROM.
I am a bit confused by the fact that you are now on your third or fourth ROM for the 320. Is it like an evolution? So this Temasek is then the new best thing? What should be my strategy in choosing amongst your great ROMs?

Now make your choice
Guess I will give this ROM a try then

Great ROM for the Sm T320!! Tried all of your ROM's and like this one the best so far. Love the options we have. Regarding the processor what do you feel is the best settings to have chosen?? FIOPS a good option here?? What would clock this thing the best??

Depend if for you it's performance or battery life is the most important
Did you saw thoses threads
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/ref-to-date-guide-cpu-governors-o-t3048957
http://androidmodguide.blogspot.ca/p/io-schedulers.html
Maybe it will help you for choosing the good Governor and scheduler for you
Many combinations can be done,
Me I'm using smartmax and sio,
Run smooth, good battery life
But not the best benchmark score
Stock setup interactive and row give best performance
I hope that will help you

I guess this is your first for manually rooting nougat on your phone, you'll need to flash newer SuperSU(like 2.78) via BootBridge by AdrianDC.
Old SuperSU will give you soft brick on nougat.
hi there
after one day using this rom everything is working fine. gps , FMradio , ussd , Camera ,etc.
only on thing that is bugging me is that screen recorder should save videos on movies folder not Pictures folder.
i attached some screenshot of this rom.
peace out :good:
So, after something broke on my phone and Settings > Apps would always crash reading some folder (and Play Store too), I went to redownload Candy5 and found that you made a Candy7 ROM. So I flashed that instead
Android 7 feels much more snappy, and the pixel launcher stays in RAM unlike the Google launcher in 5.1. And I got more free storage space, though that will probably go down once I start using all the apps.
Things I did not find yet, maybe they are gone?
I can't find where I can configure the shutter button. In Candy5, I had it set to open the camera on long-press.
I can't find the option to make the grid pattern unlock bigger. It is 3x3 now, I had it set to 5x5 in Candy5 and it would be great if I could use this size again.
Overall, I am very pleased, thanks for creating this ROM Now to some real world test in the next days.

Yeah, most fancy things in most ROMs weren't added in Nougat like the lollipop/kitkat days(and for your questions, I would say 'yup, they're gone'), I haven't release any update recently because I'm in the army, and I'll get out on 9/5, will get some time to make another build, til then please be patient
Too bad, I am missing the built-in adblocker already. Good to hear about the upcoming updates, looking forward to it. Stay save!

Yes, since lollipop, most ROMs requires unlocked bootloader
Final build is up!
The final nougat build of CandyRom is uploaded on my AFH folder!
This build ships substratum and some feature along with fixes added :good:
Thanks for the update! I flashed the 7.1.2 ROM today, all went well Will you update the project if Google releases updates to Android 7? I hope final build does not mean you are done with the project
Now I have to test it some more. At first glance, this version seems to perform a little bit worse than the previous 7.1.1 beta. Like a slight stutter here and there. Might be related to the new Lawnchair launcher and the Substratum engine maybe? They add some nice additional features and customization though.
I'd like to verify that hunch. Can I simply uninstall "substratum theme engine rooted/oms-tw-rootless" in the Google play store, or is that not enough / will break stuff? To get the plain Pixel launcher from 7.1.1, do I just install "Google Now Launcher" in the Google play store?

nope, it won't break anything, and actually I don't think substratum app will affect the performance if you just leave it there + don't use apply any theme, for the Pixel flavored launcher, there's already plenty launchers out there, just pick the one you like the most.
oh yeah, I'm not done with building ROMs as long as Adrian teh huashan god still working on the device
I saw there are first beta versions of Android O, looking forward to that I just have to say it again, going from Android 5 to Android 7 makes the phone feel much more alive, it is amazing! Uses less space (I was constantly getting out of space messages for the system partition when updating apps in Android 5), better memory usage, faster app installation, much snappier feel, etc. I was seriously thinking about scratching together some money for a new phone because I did not want to endure the problems any more, especially the storage space one. No more
I uninstalled substratum and its background service using link2sd and kept lawnchair. Seems to be working en par with the 7.1.1 beta. So maybe substratum still uses resources even when not configured, or maybe it is a placebo effect, or the JIT compiler warmed up, I don't know. Either way, that's what I stick with for the time being.
Thanks again for your work on this ROM!

We’re really excited to announce that we are releasing our Nougat flavour of Paranoid Android. We have a lot in store - with a mix of both features & improvements.
First & foremost, we have moved our code base to be fully CAF based. This brings many improvements to your device. The key improvement here is that Qualcomm hardware is better tuned on the CAF base and with our additional optimizations we can provide a smooth and fluid user experience that will let you enjoy using your device without any lags.
On first launch you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson who’s teamed up with us again and created several beautiful pieces of artwork. For those of you who don’t know, Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work stands itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We have also added several new features and made improvements to the UI of the system that we believe would enhance the overall experience.

This ROM was tested under the following conditions:
1. Wipe/Factory reset
2. Flash ROM, Gapps, SuperSU, in that order
Any other conditions may cause problems
This is the first build, there may be issues that I didn't test for, but major functionality is OK.
@ZakooZ
Is it possible to use the latest 7-11-17 kk_bl.img with this rom? It is from mosimchah from his AICP rom and includes the latest changes. I would like to give Paranoid a try but as you know I'm still locked on the old bootloader.

I highly doubt it
I just made this: PA_KK_BL_kernel.zip. Try it, flash after rom+gapps and before supersu. I haven't tested it so I can't guarantee it does work.
Okay, guys!
Short review!
I've tested the rom for a few days now and so far it is rock stable. All works fast and smooth and battery seems on par with AICP/LOS/RR.:highfive:
I'm missing a lot of features like more quick settings tiles, more customizable navbar, statusbar center clock and so on... :crying:
It's almost like stock android with another browser, calender and music app and theming options, which I've not tried yet.
I know, it's an early build but I need too much of additional apps to get the missing features back, so I'll switch back to my prefered rom for now.
Maybe when more features are added and the rom is more like PA in 2014/15 was....but it is a start!:good:
ROM Looks Tasty
I'm always up for a port that tries a new direction and this seems to do that. All my tests with new ROMS is always full format and wipe, running current stable TWRP, LP BOOTLOADER, etc. It looks like this work runs plain Super SU without Magisk, and you indicate open gapps. Could I use magisk at all? And I find the BEANS Gapps to be more reliable.
Not to pry, but where are you focusing now for these versions? Are you still going to keep up with the big changes that PA brings, or work further with Oreo developement?
Either way, I'd like to give this one a run just for fun.
Thanks as always for your work that keeps my tabs, and my wife very happy. ;DeanoD

I missed something here; I have Prime kernel on all my units. Is it essential to switch to the Lineage Kernel that you provide? Always curious about inter-compatibility with such things to keep it working well.
With that said, I need an updated to my TWRP version. In which order to flash TWRP, KERNEL, ROM, AND SUPERUSER. (Or TWRP, ROM, MAGISK- or is that asking for trouble? Thaks again. ;-DeanD
Solid ROM. Nice, Simple, Clean
I flashed this ROM last night, and so far, I'm very impressed. While it lacks some of the bells and whistles from the RR build, it has a solid feel to it. Speed and performance are great as well. Other than a slight keyboard lag, this could work well as a daily driver on my stable of three smp600 units. I started with one, found one online when my wife wanted one, and then I got another for backup (and tinkerin') . While the ROM flashed perfectly, the suggested kernel was a bust. But, the build is I think more robust than the other's I've tried. I do miss having a recents menu, and I haven't been able to find any pie controls. I'm glad that I was scouring the forums and found this gem. Great Work! ;-DeanoD
"Official Devices"?
I'm interested about the improved pie controls listed under the features of this ROM.
I could not find them. I'm guessing that my smp 600 is somehow not an "Official Device" for this ROM. Just curious. ;-DeanoD
With all apparent development at a standstill for all of there great ROMS from the crew here at XDA, I suspect that there are others like me who are having withdrawal symptoms. Dare I say that XDA further spoils us because we reap the benefits of ROM developments A LOT faster here than we would otherwise get from the OEMS. I still cringe when I see an ad for a "new" android device running VERSION 5! Then they put so much effort into the next new devices.
All I can say or offer is my sincere praise for the people here BEHIND the ROMS. But, can anyone PLEASE offer some glimmer of hope that all is not completely dead with our SMP600 just yet. And, if anyone needs testers, I am ready to run with any of the roughest draft ROMS. This one seemed to start with a great starting point and then just stopped. Any news at all? ;-DeanoD
So far I like the ROM it feels solid. I use my tablet for drawing mostly and I'm finding that palm rejection is not working. The apps that I use are Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and Adobe Photoshop sketch. Anyone else seem to be having this issue?

Yeah, I'm also having the same issue, on stock palm was rejected when the pen was recognized, that doesn't happen here unfortunately. Couldn't get my LeftureNotes app to work no matter what I chose for palm rejection. Otherwise great ROM!
@ZakooZ Did you will update the ROM to Paranoid Android 7.3.1 or to Paranoid Android OA1 ?

weirdly enough it works on your version of AICP 7.1.2 so why not here cause frankly i prefer this one better
Hi, for now I'm not able to check this unfortunatelly. Maybe it's a ROM problem, both ROMs (Dot and AICP) were builded with same device sources so I think the problem isn't here. Maybe DotOS doesn't support Viper4Android, I'm not using it so I can't tell nothing about that :/ Anyway, Nougat version of DotOS isn't supported for now so probably I can't get help from ROM devs. If you want, you can check some other threads of DotOS for another devices and look this problem, maybe someone had the same problem.

okay thank you and what bout hide quick settings tiles on lockscreen for both AICP and DOTSos
you could really import some costumization settings from RR nougat you have done great job but it still can be better ,
That's ask for ROM creators, not for me ;p If some functions isn't implemented, I willn't add them, this is ROM specified. Possibly you can for yourself try to cherry-pick some commits from RR, add them to DotOS sources and then compile ROM. Nougat editions of most ROMs are not supported for now, just only Oreo, this is for example with DotOS or AICP.

Thanks for good words There probably will be some bugs but as I said, I'm not able to fix this, i don't have enough experience etc and now I haven't got too much time for learning something more about Android. Next thing is fact, that Nougat ROMs are not supported for now by devs what will be impediment for me. I think I'll do something more with Oreo when it will be stable
And anyway I was using this ROM for a week or a bit more and I didn't experienced any reboot ;-;

Help. i tried to flash this ROM and my phone have bootloop.
I was a long term user of Pixel Experience ( Android 9 / Pie) and enjoyed it's stability. As it is no longer maintained I thought I would try out some of the latest Android 10 / Q ROMs to see how they compared. I still kept the zip file for Pixel on my SD card by way of a fall back if I wasn't happy with the latest unofficial Android 10 ROMs.
I gave Havoc OS a try for a few days and to an extent I liked it with the ability to very much set up the ROM as you like with multiple customisation options. I , however, found that the overall experience wasn't very good with quite a bit of lag and some random crashes of apps etc. I am sure with future updates it will be a much better ROM and I may well give it another try out.
After Havoc I went back to Pixel Experience for a few weeks until the next unofficial Android 10 ROM was released. Thus far I have been very happy with Lineage 17 with no bugs , lag , crashes or issues at all thus far. The only slight grumble is that the music app widget is not really required on the ' 2nd page ' and indeed was just a big black blob. I deleted it straight away. I will probably continue to use this as my daily driver for some time to come and give thanks to @jeferson1979 and any other Devs who contributed for all their hard work and for us to be able to keep our old Harpia phones going with the latest android version.

I have indeed installed the latest Lineage 17.1 Rom and it works great. I , too , have the latest TWRP and found it very straight forward to install the zip file for Lineage , with ARM GAPPS for Android 10 and the latest Magisk for rooting my device. I assume when flashing the Rom etc you did a clean install by doing an Advanced wipe of Davlik/ART Cache , System , Data and Cache before proceeding. Good luck and hope you are able to get it going.

Thank you very much. You are an genius.
@jeferson1979 Your roms are what a rom should be! I have never thought that android 10 can run this smooth in this tiny device. All Thanks to you. Rom is very stable and is best rom available right now after AEX pie which is again your offering.
Unlike past developers your focus is more towards usage and fixing things rather than pure compiling/half baked pieces and that's what old time developing was...
Thanks to keeping this device alive. I use it because of it's light and small and easy to carry.
Now the only thing remaining is- I guess SELinux.
Thanks for all the work, I will flash this later today and post my feelings. Would it be possible to make this an official build? I loved the automatic updates via OTA from the official builds.
The ROM works great, however SELinux is not enabled, would it be possible to enable it?

How you installed this ROM? Because i flash with TWRP 3.2.1-0 (the last version for Harpía) and use ARM Gapps for Android 10 but dont boot (have bootloop).

you can manually set SELinux to enforcing by enabling the terminal shell in the Developer options and using the command, "setenforce enforcing"
this enables enforcing but i have no idea if the SELinux policy is written or doing what it needs to be doing, and this manual enforcing only lasts until reboot. does anyone know more on this subject?

Selinux is on mode permissive, but you can expect next update to be on enforcing mode, by now don't turn enforcing

That's great, I'll be waiting for the next update. After a day using it, I have to say that it is indeed a wonderful ROM, very fluid and responsive.
Flashed this ROM, till now everything works great. Thank you!

Can you please also release Android GO variant of Lineage. Recently I have seen one Go device, and it was so smooth even with 1GB RAM. We have 2GB so I guess Android GO will improve responsiveness and battery life slightly? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You will see some minor improvement at memory management, but we will loose in other side. Maybe we can do some tests
I agree with newinnov. In fact i think it should be nice for the LineageOS team to keep supporting older devices (like ours) officially but in Android GO form. It would keep millions of phones out of landfills.
In our case I think the benefits overcome the loses. At this point i'm sure all of us are using our g4p for bare minimun tasks like whatsapp, email, browsing, social networking, and such. Mostly no functionality-intensive apps. Given that all of that can be done with Android GO i don't think we would lose that much
