Battery life is too soon to say.
I have attached the changelog in this attachement.

Same version number, but different size and changelog?

Does it fix notifications (persistent)?

It was because of region, features are exactly the same

Does anyone know where I can find the new pocket mode? Haven't seen anything

No one can say anything about persistant notifications?

It's still like before.

Updated this afternoon. Battery seems better, since "android" app consumption is about 3% now (before was around 10%).

You must, like me, have come from .27 and so some bugs that came with it has fixed. 27 was withdrawn just days arter release so many users never got it.

Definitely much better battery backup in 10.2.28.0. Android apps were about 25% before and now are just 11%. Standby drain is improved.

It's very fickle. Today it consumed 9% battery in 6 hours of sleep.

Just updated to the latest version. Always on screen mode display the battery now

REVIEW of the update 3 days in
I like it, and I don't like it.
Here's why I like it:
It finally fixed the colors for 10.2.26.0 where the AMOLED panel looked washed out like an LCD. The colors are comparable to an S9 now.
The battery notification on the Ambient display was wanted, but after a week or two of seeing the ambient display without it, I want a toggle, honestly.
Battery life seems to have become better? I have no idea, I feel like I just won about 20% more battery life with this update.
The display finally doesn't give me half a seizure when it doesn't properly detect my fingerprint anymore.
THEY FINALLY INCREASED APP SIZE ALL THE WAY TO THE NOTCH, and that basically means we can have almost full screen apps now that touch the notch.
Video recording mode finally started looking brighter as the judder/stutter/locking got heavily reduced.
Here's why I don't like it:
Audio quality through the dongle headphone jack seems poor now. How's that possible?
The update states pocket mode is enabled ( a much needed update for this phone ) yet it's nowhere to be found.
The notifications bar is not centered, it was left where it was before they fixed the notification bar size and it looks out of place when different color notification bar appears.
The camera sometimes hangs for a bit when you lock the screen with the camera app opened and open it again with the double power tap.
We still don't have an option to fully cancel out the notch for apps (so that they ignore it, don't know it's there and they just move on, some apps result in a black top bar in landscape mode where the notch stands and it's infuriating)
Still no DC dimming available, which is just stupid at this point seeing as the Chinese variant has it for what... 1+ months now?
Still no Game Turbo 2.0
We got the June Security Patch instead of the July one (and we still have to wait to see if we actually got the June one and it's not just fake)
Still no notifications toggle for quick full screen gestures mode from on screen buttons and vice versa
Still no on screen button for manual screen flip if auto rotation is disabled
Still no on screen quick buttons for the screenshot menu
Still no most recent Camera UI
There is still some judder/locking up when recording H.265 Image Stabilization 4K30 and even 1080p30.
Night mode still feels messy and bad (thank god for GCAM)
Ambient display sometimes turns grey and the sun/moon disappears completely
And that's about what I noticed with this update. It's heavily appreciated but I still feel as if we are at least 2-3 patches away from actually getting that device that can get an "It's alright" mark with it's stock fimware. It feels really annoying to see that the chinese variant gets patches way, way before EU gets them, and I'm thinking of jumping on the Xiaomi.eu ROM but I like keeping the device fresh and basically untouched. However, I'm dying to see the 84Hz mod in action.
Edit: I have tested the video function further. The UI definitely sees more lag but the final video has very, very few moments when it actually stutters/freezes.

Battery drain at night appears to be 4% for me. I do disable wifi and mobile data though.

For those unlocked and needing the TWRP ZIP for 10.2.28 EEA, don't forget to check on Miblog.co, they have all the files !

Very bad battery drain at night after update to EEA 10.2.28.0. I just saw to Global 10.2.13 to see if it get better.

I was just going to start a thread on this topic, but I'll reply to yours instead
I have the 3500mAh battery from Amazon an had been getting terrible battery life. I did a few things to improve it
- turn off display always on feature
- clear app Cache
- power off, pulled battery, reinsert battery, fully charge
Those seem to have improved overall screen on time performance to a little over 4 hours now. Hoping close to 5, but we'll see how it goes by end of day.
After a few days of improved and repeatable battery performance, I might re-enable the 'always on' feature and gauge it's impact.
I guess the 'official' line from LG is that it always-on impact on battery *should* be negligible, but I need to prove that out myself. Otherwise, I have a feeling it was contributing to my lackluster battery performance.
Good luck with your battery life?. I think LG should have stuck with an AMOLED display with the g5 especially if they wanted to have the always on display. With an IPS lcd panel, the backlight will always be on and the time and notifications would be unreadable (I think a led notification light was enough) but I'm glad they decided to use an AMOLED panel with the v30.
One of my friends(unscedeo) rooted his G5, used L Speed, and used a custom kernel (called Asgard reborn) and was able to get 5 hours of sot with the battery that comes with the phone and with the always on display enabled. If you're into rooting I would recommend you do that.

Nice! Thanks for the tip. I plan on doing this soon, but going to ride out the stock experience for a while.

Wanted to add that I have Bluetooth on 24/7 with Android Wear & Moto Body connected/running. WiFi is on and connected for about 2.5 hours of the day (mostly at home during morning and evening), but use cellular for most of the day.
Also, just turned on Pixel 2 Live Wallpapers, so pretty sure my battery life is all downhill from here

I think cellular data and Bluetooth might be responsible for battery drain. On my g5 plus I turned on my LTE for 5 minutes and it drained 1%. I agree the pixel wallpapers are buggy. I have a sd 625 and it significantly slows down the device and crashes Nova launcher. I think it's best to give the development some time.

I might have to disagree, Im pretty happy with my ips display and I would take it over amoled anyday even if it means having a lower battery life
And they used OLED panels for the v30 so oled by itself is power efficiency

I actually agree. Now looking back the only phone which I used that had an amoled display was my galaxy nexus and now I am kind of glad that my phone has in ips lcd display. One of the advantages is there is no screen burn-in.

If you want to root later have you tried the power saving mode under settings? have never owned a LG device but I think there's a quick toggle or it's buried somewhere in the battery settings .

I know right! The colors are so vibrant and so alive and it worth any sacrifice!
Every picture I take on my phone look so incredible through the display and once I watch my pictures on my computer TN display, it doesn't look as alive and kicking.
Unfortunately i suffer from screen burn in but it's whatever as long as it's not permanent, the display is still amazing! I love colors
I can't wait to have an oled screen, but that will be only in the future, my LG g5 is only recent and oled smartphones are still in their diaper stage, as the oled on the v30 and the iPhone 8 (which is yet still provided by lg) is POlED, which to apple's sayings, it's just an upgraded amoled screen with oled technology
I agree lcd displays ftw. I think you might have image retention and there's a simple fix for that. I believe there are different apps on the play store which will remove most to all of it. Good luck?
Haha yeah, I'm using Blue Filter app, it used to work outstandingly at the first half a year! But it seems to work less better and the ghosting is starting to suppress it, i by of course can higher my setting on the app but I don't want too much of a red/green/grey/yellow screen.. So i just might have to live along it's side!
Oh man. I think a blue light filter is a must. Try this app out. A lot of LG G5 users gave it 5 stars so it's worth a try:laugh:.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blasterbyte.burn_infix
Oh i have it, i have been using it haha
It's just that it's not working as much anymore since my screen burn in got worse
But thank you!
Oh man. You're welcome.

Well mine is working just fine. Maybe you just have a bad battery
I bought Moto z, because i gave my Nexus 5x to my mother.
She has new 8.1 Oreo. So I've been looking a little bit into her phone, and ask myself "what is so special about Oreo, that all people buzzing around?"
I mean ok, it has new features.
Nougat 7.1.1 is working just fine. If you want substratum go with rr, it's great rom
Still on my warranty. So custom rom isn't my option for now.

At least they should have provided a 7.1.2 update. And yes 7.1.1 is buggy. I'm waiting for oreo since January but all hope and wait goes to nothing they don't care for this "flagship" device anymore. The Motorola I knew is dead. If you're thinking that others OEM haven't released Oreo on their devices too then hear this" fk them Motorola is not like others".

I need to sell my device (Goodbye, Motorola) but my IMEI does not work anymore in ROM stock 7.1 (it only works with IMEI of customs 8.0). For stock only having an upgrade pro 8.

Can you do something for Bluetooth greayed out button and frequently WiFi disconnects.
Why does device lags when I use "Fluid" app in background.
Why does battery discharge quickly?
Can you do something about the steep discharging curve as shown in the attachment (even in airplane mode).

You should attach battery stat from other battery monitor apps (eg. Battery battery stat, Gsam, wakelock detector)
So other will know what your activities you done at that time. This battery stat is hard to tell what is wrong.
If I'm hardcore gamer or watch full movie. I may get this battery graph too.
BTW I only notice screen use is 161 percent
How about your screen on time per one charge?

I 100% agree, Oreo really smooth on Moto Z.

Why am I getting so less SOT?

I'm getting at around 1.5 -2 hrs SOT in my S9+ Exynos (Android 9.0 One ui) and my battery is lasting for a 12 -13 hours.i don't know what is consuming so much battery. The phone remains idle (Mobile data ON 4g but not much network activity) most of the time.I run my phone on medium brightness as shown in the screenshot.
I have both of the Sims in LTE network mode.
I have attached the screenshots. How much SOT do you get in your S9+,share some suggestions to get at least 4 hrs SOT.
1. You're on Beta, so expect some instability
2. If you have 2 SIMS on LTE, expect less battery life
To me that looks like your phone isn't sleeping properly (its constantly declining) unlike mine which flattens at times when I'm not using it - see screenshot). Even with two sims it shouldn't drain that quickly
Few potential causes:
- beta software is causing issues - would recommend a factory reset and clean install if you can
- what's your phone signal like & are you moving about a lot? If you're outside this will also cause drain, a screen at full brightness burns ~ 4x as much power as a dark screen
- download gsam and betterbatterystats- will give you an idea of anything that's keeping your phone awake as well as signal/ brightness levels throughout the day

I'm honestly not doing much, the main thing at the moment is I'm working from home so on wifi, screen is relatively dim and minimal location updating. Whilst this makes a bit of a difference, you should still be seeing more SOT/ battery life than you currently are.
I had a problem with the beta when I first installed with Google play services eating up the battery, but I just updated to the latest beta version and did a factory reset to flush out any bugs.
Edit: one thing I did do was go through and remove all unnecessary permissions for applications, especially location, don't know how much of a difference it makes though.
Also yea on the Exynos

Thinking of replacing S9+ with OnePlus 6T what is the suggestion?

I own a Galaxy S9 plus about two month..
But I'm already very disappointed....
Below average camera (worse than Poco F1)..
No stable Pai update after 4 month(OnePlus 6, 6t, essential phone, mate 20, p20, mi 8, Poco f1, xperia xz 2 & a lot more already have pai)....
Now want to switch to OnePlus 6T...
I know I'll miss Dolby Atmos , the screen for sure..
If any one have any suggestions please help me..
First of all, if your phone camera is worse than Poco's camera, something is wrong.
Second, the only thing you will gain is speed. OnePlus is more responsive compared to our phone. But that's it.
Our S9+ can easily do +6h of SOT, has headphone jack, better screen, better build quality (although OPs also do a good job on this category), better camera, Samsung Experience is full of customization options (Oxygen OS is getting there too).
The only downside of a Samsung phone, in general, is the waiting time for the updates arrive. But that's not a deal breaker for me at least.
I would advise you to keep the S9+ for now and get the new OnePlus next year, with SD855.
I would vote for keeping the S9+ as well. I had the 6T before, but I had to send it back because it kept dropping the LTE connection to the tower by my house. Of course getting the newest Android versions is nice, but a lot of times there are bugs when you get them that soon anyway. Also the only thing I could think of that made Pie worth the wait was that you could replace the navbar with gestures. Other than that the S9+ feels more premium, and like you said you have Atmos, the wonderful screen, etc. The 6T was definitely snappy but lag does not seem to me to be an issue on the S9+.
Just keep the s9+. You'll get the android pie (pai?) update in january with a brand new interface and it'll make your device much faster and more responsive. It's not worth losing all the s9+ features to the 6t.
If you are just after speed. Enable Game mode in device maintenance. It will become at least 25% due to more aggressive governor settings.
On the camera, i agree with above comments. If it is worse than poco 8n quality. Something really wrong with either the settings or hardware. Try a factory reset.

6hrs SOT? Are you kidding?. S9+ in normal usage can't get past 3-3.5hrs. 6hrs is possible if you continuously watch videos and do nothing else. Otherwise it's a myth.

Definitely not a myth, I can confirm that 6 hrs of SOT is indeed possible.
Look, if your camera is worse then poco you have problem with the devices or with the eyes
I bought that phone 3 weeks after it's came out and I'm totally happy with it, especially from the camera, so much that my sis ,parents and few friends saw the photos and videos and bought the plus version a mouth later and they still thank me for the right choise of device
as we all know, there is no perfect phone yet, the bad things that the s9/+ for my opinion have is the small battery and the annoying edges. the screen look fu**ing amazing but the edge are cause the expience from my pov. of course the slow updates but that is samsung, always was, they have big UI to upgrade every android new version, the most chinese companies have more clean android experience so less work on every build.
the 1+6t is amazing phone in good price, it's faster and smoother thanks for the clean UI and 8gb ram at some models, but the screen is not good as ours, our camera is better, I think also that the 1+6t has mono speaker so the sound is worse.
In fact, what you think to do is to transfer from premium amazign high quality device to good device, if you have in your pocket s7, or any old device the 1+6t is good choise, but here you downgrade yourself.
My advice is to compare your s9 photos with friend who have that phone too or here and see if your camera work properly, and if not go to the warranty.
sorry for poor english, I'm working on it :silly:

2 days of use, see the apps that are used, videos watched only for 1 hour during that period. Oreo exynos btw.
And with stable Pie seeding as of yesterday, you know my answer - keep the s9+!

Look man, I use my phone with Bluetooth enable 100% of the time because I use with a Gear S3.
Data is enabled for at least 8 hours when I'm working, like it was yesterday.
I use my phone mostly for web browsing, Facebook, watch videos and listen to music (online music).
I get 6h~7h SOT constantly
If your phone can't do at least 6h SOT on mixed usage, I suggest you to go to a Samsung Repair Center and check it out what's wrong with your phone.
Btw, mine is a Snapdragon G9650.

It's very easy to do 6 hours-7 hours SOT on S9+
I don't know if your using a Exynos
Mine a snapdragon
But even with using mobile data for around 2-3 hours i can easily get 6 hours
I have set my screen resolution to WQHD+ too

I acually switched to a OP6T with a guy in my city and i got back to him after 2 days and would like to change back. As happy i was when i got it back he accepted the return again. Got my S9+ back and im happy. No notification LED on the 6T is a dealbreaker for me, i use it everyday on my S9+. I tested some apps that would replace the use of an Notification LED but it would not strike me enough. I read that people does simply not care about notification LED anymore beacuse the phone has an Ambient display, as silly verison of an always on display for me, like really the phone does not even have real always on display, only Ambient display. (tested rooting it and installing OP6s always on display ZIP, as it was the only one available and it is awful. OnePlus them self removed their Always on Display in a couple betas back, replacing it with Ambient display, stupid move. Worked perfectly on my old OP5 before it broke) No headphone jack is also a really bruh OnePlus, bragging on it a year ago when Apple removed it and now they did it. I have a pair of Bluetooth earphones but as the battery runs out i always switch to my Beats earphones, i KNOW that OnePlus provides a dongle with it but me not digging the red color at all and as it feels like it will break after one day of use of dragging it around. (as the cable is thin) I would still credit OnePlus for their operating system being much more nicer than Samsungs. (menys, app designs, all around simpler design in my opinion) The speed is also real and the performance/battery life is quite impressive compared to my S9+ as the price. Also dash charge! I wanted to switch to OP6T beacuse of the performance and battery life. Also me seeing the S9+ as an photograpy phone was not my intend in the beginning, but i must say when i take a photo(not often at all) it takes stunning pictures, both in lowlight and normal day use. I bought it when it came out as a new daily driver with speed and performance and was a bit disappointed with the speed/performance/battery and still is, but switching from it to an phone without an Notification LED and headphone jack i forgot how much i use them daily. Will keep my S9+ until it breaks a probably buy a OP6.
No way...u shud do it other way round...dumped my 6 and s9 plus is different league...
I have the 6T and my wife has the S9+. Her camera is way better than my 6T camera. Her S9+ has a much nicer screen. My 6T feels more responsive. Overall, I think the S9+ is a better phone, but the 6T is better value for the money. If you already have the S9+, I would stick with it.
Install package disabler and disable all the extra function you're not getting on OP 6T. Just as fast. With s9+, you're getting so much function than vanilla. It's the extra flavor that I like. But if you are into vanilla, then OP 6T is the way.
Personal note: I really love the motion photo.

Mine is an exynos. Probably because of the CPU. Samsung cheated with exynos. I hope they scrap their exynos cpus

I have the exynos variant as well. Something may be wrong with your phone, try bringing it to a repair center and let them check it.

whats wrong mate? please speak on topic
I'm on pie and haven't noticed any battery issues so far.
But i did factory reset my phone before I upgraded to pie.
So if your experiencing battery issues you'll might want to factory reset your phone. Backup first though!
Or you have a bad app draining your battery.
I am also on official Pie and it does seem like my battery life might be a little worse than it was on beta 1. My battery life was outstanding on beta 1, where I did a "dirty flash" from Oreo. Doing a factory reset before flashing official Pie, it does seem a little bit worse, but still well within in the realm of being manageable.

Mine is SM-N950F so we got the official pie sometime in Feb/March.
I just put a new battery in mine as I always do around the 2 year mark. Previous to the pie update my battery would last 10hrs easy. Now it's pretty ****, I find myself recharging the phone at lunchtime.
But otherwise everything else is smooth and fast.

I am in the same boat as the battery is performing poorly in recent times. I have two questions for you
1. Where did you buy your battery from? I don't trust Amazon ones, I don't think they're reliable enough and are mostly fakes.
2. How did you install the battery since Note 8 doesn't have removable back panel? You took it to a service center?
Thanks,

First time ever that I didn't do it myself, I just put it in to have a new screen, frame and battery, charge port replaced so it's like a new phone again.
I normally do it all myself and just buy a decent or own Samsung battery but I didn't have the time.

Also, I use it with my gear watch so bluetooth and 4g is running the whole time and I'm getting half the battery life I was with oreo with the same setup. I personally think the adaptive battery is garbage doing nothing just an smoke and mirrors.
Having it on medium power save it says gives extra battery life but actually timing it..... It doesn't.

FWIW after performing the latest update this week, I noticed yesterday that my battery performance seemed improved. Obviously it's early days, but perhaps something has changed in the April releases that has improved battery consumption?
I only just received the March security update so ok, looking forward to a change
I'm in the US on Verizon. My battery life has decreased, but not in a significant way that makes me feel that something is really, really wrong. For what it's worth, I never did a factory reset.

Thank you. I looked up some related videos for opening up the back panel on Youtube, but i do not feel confident enough as I have fragile hands. :crying:
