H265 or H264 - Sony Xperia 1 Questions & Answers

I use H265, is better quality in video compression on a smaller file size. Don't know if affect the overall performance or the video stabilization.

4k recording works with mi 3

I just tried this app from store and 4k recording works with that.. you might find it slightly laggy at times but do try it and report
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marginz.snap
it's a paid app... enable advance settings and select resolution and other options from videos tab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055140
you guys can also try the app by downloading from the app thread but it would work only when offline

Great ! Thanks
Excellent. The only thing we need to do is to figure out if it's real 4K or just 1080p upscaled to 4k.
Can you do 1080p 60fps?

Nope. Even the 4K video is at a variable framrate so not of any great use as the frame rate changes from 15-25. I guess we'll have more access to camera functions once Android L comes out as it is supposed to have API's that give better control of the camera.

huawei p20 lite slow motion video limited to 480p?

Is there a way to record 720p slo-mo videos with this phone or are we stuck with the 480p resolution?
Like some camera mod or something?
120fps with 480p resolution is bad...
Im also wondering about it, as 480p is S H I T,
I am very disappointed with the p20 lite

Netflix on Xperia 1

I have 2 issues which I am hoping someone on this forum could help with
1. Videos on Netflix are really dark. An app kicks in once Netflix opens and I'm assuming this is the problem
2. No videos play in 21:9 as promised has anyone got this to work? Pinch to zoom doesn't cut it as it crops the video to make it fit

I've noticed these issues as you've
1. Side by side comparison with my Galaxy S8 clearly shows video playback on Xperia 1 is really dark. This is more noticeable with Netflix app and also with pre-loaded Spiderman Far From Home trailer. Not entirely sure if this happens with YouTube too (I think it does because S8's super saturated display blows off X1's natural colour reproduction. Maybe its just my perception.)
2. Only YouTube videos by default play in 21:9 for me. I wasn't able find single NetFlix show or movie in that aspect ratio.

I believe the Samsungs increase the brightness in video apps inc Netflix.
Is hdr dark in Netflix to?
21:9 is a common cinema scope, I hope they get this sorted.
Thanks

Some videos do play in full screen without pinch to zoom, for example fast and furious 8. It needs to be natively on Netflix in the 21:1 aspect ratio.

Mi A3 Filmic Pro compatibility

I am planning on buying the Mi A3 and would love to know what features of the Filmic Pro app is compatible with the phone... thanks
What about the wide angle camera? it works perfectly?
Sapper Morton said:
All features works, as far as I tested; main camera can record up to 2160p using FiLMiC Extreme and HEVC codec, at this resolution you can capture up to 30fps, at 1080p you can record up to 120fps, the only drawback, is that 60fps is not available; voice can be recorded at 48KHz, using both external and internal microphone, audio monitoring works too; front camera can record up to 1836p, 30fps. Manual Focus*, Manual Exposure, Manual White Balance, Focus Peak, Exposure Peak, all works; tested with v6.7.4, build 614.
*Front camera has infinite focus, only manual exposure is available.

Poco camera custom rom

Do pocophone with custom can record 4k 60fps with Eis?
I Use Pixel Experience 9.0 https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/rom-pixel-experience-t3857076
With the preinstalled GCam i can record in 3840x2160p with 60Frames or 1080p60.
So it is possible.

of course 4k 60fps or 1080p 60fps is possible
but 4k 60fps / 1080p 60fps with eis is impossible
