Note 5 Pro (MIUI cam) vs K20 Pro (GCAM) SHOCKING RESULTS - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Guides, News, & D

If you seen my previous post, GCAM is pretty good for K20 Pro. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/k2...nightsight-t3950165/post79935936#post79935936) For K20 Pro if you take pictures with GCAM it is sharper than using MIUI camera because when you zoom in, there is no noise-reduction watercolor effect.
Does that mean you should throw away your have Note 5 Pro?

My Mi 8 and My Pocophone were taking better photos than my K20 Pro, it uses same lens and Mi 9 (IMX586) but it's really trash.

That's why I prefer Sony imx 3 series camera over 5 series.

Bad camera macros

Hi, i have a problem with camera. I tried also other cameras like the Google one. The thing is that with my last Samsung phone (Galaxy Core) i always did perfect macros with 5 cm of distance from the object! With Redmi Note 2 you must stay at least at 10-12 cm to get a macro, with the result that also the background is focused. I think that is a lens problem... How about your macros?
However it is not only a macro problem
This camera can't simply focus subjects that are near it

Same here. My old Xperia S did a better job with macros.
Are you using auto or manual focus?
I use Tap to focus
I do not have this problem. I get a clear picture at 5cm, but anything less will be blurry.
I have same problem with my note 3. Well today i figured it out. With a help with a friend. The glass protector of my cam have a few litle scratches. When i take it down camera works perfect.
Scratches are almost invisible.

Tried also today
Nothing to do.. You must stay at least at 8-10 cm in order to get a good macro
Mhm. Try some other camera. But I think that 10 cm is OK it's not a pro.macro camera. Booh. Try with macro lenses. For me it worked

Sometimes macros are very goods
But you must stay at least at 10 cm from the subject
Yeah but than this is not macro for me. With macro lenses macro photos are quite good

Same here, i can't even scan many QR codes. Let alone the tiny QR codes that Xiaomi itself uses on their headphones!
Same problem for me.

There are many different type of lens. Marco lens work from 10 cm onward. For Note 2 you must hold it 10 cm away to focus. The words are readable.

This is from the same distance using the in camera x4.0 zoom. Not tac sharp but acceptable.
Noticed the same when received my Note 2. I don't think that it is a problem of camera or the device. It just how it works. All my previous devices (phones and cameras) can focus on closer objects.
That's what it can do if you focus from 12+ cm.
I have thia good macro manual focus with cm 12.1 by mokee..
Great shutter speed n better quality from srock miui camera..
Trully hard focus for around 10cm range focus..
Just a problem with lack of feature thats all..
Okay, so Redmi 3 takes much better macros compared to RN2. It's able to focus at much closer objects and I'm able to get some awesome macro shots with it.
plan to buy it on next week, but confused between redmi note 2 and redmi note 3
hi sir,
i have planned to buy a xiaomi device, but i cant choose one becoz of lack of experience so can you help me to figure out what is best device from redmi note 2 and redmi note 3, plzzz

Which RMN3 do you have? The one with the Qualcomm 650 or with the MTK X10? Because the "old" one is basically a RMN2 with a fingerscanner.

There are multiple versions of both phones (the RMN2 has all versions using the same hardware except for the 4G and bands differing, so still be carefull which version you buy for your country). But the RMN3 is even more confusing, since there are versions that use completely different hardware.
The first RMN3 was basically identical to the RMN2 except for the casing, fingerprint scanner and larger battery, and missing the option to have a microSD card. But screen, processor etc were identical to RMN2.
But later they released an updated RMN3, with a newer processor and higher resolution camera, and also the option to use microSD cards. So, the most obvious response is to go for THAT version.
This means the "Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime", using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM is the best phone.
i havent qualcom version in my country

It's just Redmi 3, not the note one. I thought it has the same sensor as Redmi Note 2, but apparently it doesn't as it seems to have a bigger lens.

Photo quality

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Good quality pictures
for the ones that needs extreme level of sharpness in images, i consider this good

Protips
On MIUI the camera quality is a bit better than on LineageOS based roms.
If You are really in the manual controls just for fun or not You will need to edit the build.prop file and that needs root.
The light sensor can suffer gratefully in low light conditions generating a lot of noise.
If Your goal is to get the best pictures in the World of mobiles eg. visible every single snowflake in mid air without smudges => get a DSLR camera and a phone.
The stutter is pretty much responsive there is almost no lag when pressing the shot button
great photos!
Camera quality is excellent with Google Camera with AutoHDR+.
Quality is comparable with my entry-level 10 years old compact camera when shot in raw. Not the best camera in the market but more than enough for average usage.

Only if you unlock the bootloader and add camera2api support on build.prop or mods
My note 4x front camera is significantly worse than my friends note 4x camera
It's really noticable
Any way to fix this?
I am rooted and have twrp installed

There is still no solution (Redmi Note 4X). Oreo will probably not be. In vain, the camera2api works, Gcam is not good. [emoji849][emoji848][emoji2955]

That's what custom ROMs are for. We have Oreo and Pie (in early stage) and perfectly working GCams which makes our camera a lot better than on MIUI
GCam port by BSG produce very good quality photos with HDR+ mode. No lag while taking snap.
I have using my device for more than 3 years now. I mostly use it for communicating over chat apps and media consumption. I have been using various builds of LineageOS (official and unoffical) after the first year of purchase. But more importantly, Gcam has been with me even before that. I started using Gcam mods like that of BSG's 5.* during early years of development.
After coming long way now, the mods are mostly stable and all the included features works flawlessly (keeping in mind the device specific restrictions). The first thing after setting up my device after installing a new custom ROM (or upgrading) I do is install Gcam mod without doing anything else.

Honor 20 (or Honor 20 Pro) case render leak, 3 or 4 Cameras?

First off, it looks like this handset will have a bunch of rear cameras, as the cutout for those is quite big. The design of the cutout itself makes us think of the Huawei P30 Pro's camera arrangement, with the LED flash placed to the right of the main camera array, although in this case it's on the lower side, not the upper.
We'd venture a guess and say this Honor device will come with at least three cams on the back, unless it completely apes the P30 Pro and adds a TOF 3D camera under (or above) the LED flash as well. Given that all of this implies it will be a high-end offering, it's likely to be the Honor 20 Pro, because so far we haven't seen any leaked renders of that handset itself - whereas the non-Pro Honor 20, if we go by past leaks, will have a different rear camera arrangement. Then again, if those previous rumors were wrong, we might in fact be looking at a case for the Honor 20. Only time (and more leaks) will tell for sure.
The Honor 20 Pro is expected to sport Sony's IMX600 sensor, which apparently has 48MP resolution just like the IMX586 that we've already seen in a few phones. The Honor 20 Pro has also been rumored to have a 6.1" OLED screen with an under-display fingerprint scanner, the Kirin 980 chipset, and three RAM/storage configurations - 6/128 GB, 8/128 GB, and 8/256 GB. Pricing in China should start around $450, which will probably translate into €500-550 in Europe, and the Honor 20 Pro could get official as soon as April 25.
Exciting for this device! I like the camera layout and couldn't accept the way of Huawei Mate 20.

Poco F1 vs Xiaomi MI9T camera

So i have poco f1 and just bought mi9t, so decided to make a little comparison.
Portrait mode back camera:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/48167439396/in/dateposted-public/
MI9T has much more details, better dynamic range and much better color accuracy.
Portrait mode front camera:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/48167708691/in/album-72157709352679737/
Again, better results with mi9t. More accurate colors, more contrast, more details, better hdr.
2x zoom mi9t optical vs f1 digital

https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/48167429666/in/dateposted-public/
As expected, many more details and less noise in mi9t photo.
HDR

https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/48167442706/in/dateposted-public/
Again, mi9t balances shadows and highlights much better, also way more details.
Will test video stabilization next, will update this topic with links.
Thanks.
I have mi8 and now mi9t, i think also that camera is better on mi9t
Nice pics buddy and a cool café. I have also a p0c0 and waiting for the Mi 9T arrival. Good to know the Mi 9T makes better pictures. Did you already tested a gcam?

Wow that seems insane! How long have you had it?
Also what SOT were you getting on the Poco?
was going to change note 8 for this one...but camera is just meh...
On the zoomed photo, not really a proper comparison as on Pocophone you have 130 ISO while on Mi 9T is 450, and on such small sensors it means a lot, Digital noise is more present on Mi 9T's example due to much higher ISO.
