Mi 9 Global 10.2.13 huge battery drain at night - Xiaomi Mi 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

Charged to 100%, didn't touch the phone, disabled wifi and Bluetooth, enabled battery saver... After 7 hours, 12%of battery was gone... Radio is the problem (according to the graphic) but here the signal is strong... Don't know what to do!
Any tips?

Are you serious? OK, I'll try it. Tks.

Try to install better battery state and then check which one of factors to waste your phone battery.

I couldn't make it work. My Mi 9 is not rooted and even applying the permissions via ADB, the application indicated that permission was missing.

Debloated a lot of apps, but the problem seems to be still here.

Try turn off background WiFi and Bluetooth scanning. Then disable Bluetooth, reboot, then enable Bluetooth.
Also goto settings. Network. Mobile network. Advanced. And check default LTE settings.

About the wifi and Bluetooth scanning, it is already disable.
Couldn't find the advanced options in mobile network:

8 hours of sleep, just wifi on. Cache cleared... 23% of battery drain...

Went to sleep with 80% of battery. Enable airplane mode, 6 hours of sleep, 0% of Barry drain. It's something related to SIM signal.
Will test with one SIM only (I use 2 Sims).

Last test: ONE SIM card, wifi off, battery saver, no airplane mode, 6 hours of sleep. 2% of battery drain. Definitely there is a problem with some SIM cards. Without my second SIM card the problem is gone.

That's strange. Tomorrow i'm going to change my sim card from my provider.

With just one SIM card, so far so good. Idle battery drain is excelent. In use battery drain still high, but the major problem was the idle battery drain.
I will wait for the next update to insert my second SIM card again.

I have the same problem. I had another mi 9 two weeks ago that drained 1% overnight (8-10h) with the previous version of 10.2.13. Now I have my actual mi 9 10.2.13 and it was draining 4-5% in 8-9h (a total of 25-30% drained in 48h standby, an atrocity). I have chatted with xiaomi customer support and they told me to try a factory resset in the recovery.
Now I'm only with WCDMA every reboot, with battery saver enabled, Wi-Fi/data/bluetooth/all off but without airplane mode (only signal active), all optimized to gain battery life and my mi 9 10.2.13 drained only 2% in 9h overnight (not bad at all, but it still twice that my first mi 9).
Before that, I have tried everything without result. I know that all the battery draining is a problem of the standby draining because of the modem/radio/signal, I have tried the airplane mode all night an my 10.2.13 mi 9 only drained 1% overnight instead of 4-5%.
With the first mi 9 with the previous version, I had made 7h SOT with 1h PUBG gaming in 48h with the same options and with the chinese signal searching TD-SCDMA 3g, and the actual mi 9 only did 6h without gaming in less than 72h because of the drainage.
Customer service have recommended to return the mi 9 to Amazon if I continue with draining problems. Maybe I'll try try stable xiaomi.eu ... or maybe I'll try another mi 9 because I have read that there are at least 2 modem versions, and I think that I have the ****ty modem -.-

Battery life! Check please guys!

Hi guys
I've been playing around with my galaxy s3 for several days and I'm very pleased.
But one thing is still very annoying as a previous iphone owner. That's the battery life.
I just attached a screenshot. For 9 hours 12% drains during sleeping thus basically screen has turned on for only few mins.
Is it normal??
Wanna hear you guys opinion.

Hello,
i don't think is normal here is my use over night.
It's without sync and wlan, with sync and wlan it takes 2-3%
If you turn off wifi, data and GPS and put the phone on energy saving mode (its on the top bar menu, just drop it down and you will see it) then after 8 hours the phone is almost 0% drain.

Thats correct. It seems like for most people its the cellular data that is killing the battery. If I turn off 3G data, I get good battery as well but with cellular data turned on, battery will not last a day.

I use "tasker" to switch on the sync only every 30min for 3min. Like this I have ~ 50-60% left in the evening.
Thank you guys!! I'll test it out today
I'm going to turn everything off such as wifi, sync..
I don't use 3g often though. I'm a pretty heavy user like 4-5 hours screen on and I get 14-15 hours battery life.
Anyway I'll see how it will affect on my battery.
Thanks!

I actually just tested this over night. Wlan and sync off but 3G on, it drained only 4% during night. My old iphone 4 drained only 2% in the same conditions. However, I find 4% acceptable.

High battery drain when Idle

Anyone else experiencing this?
My old one is fine but the replacement is loosing battery very quickly. It went 100% to 80% sitting idle in just 5h with no background apps running.
I tried reboot and cache wipe. Also tried disabling apps. Still draining quick.

Nope not installed. I even tried factory reset and disabling preinstalled oculus services.
I don't get it. Few days ago the battery was phenomenal. I seriously got well over 8h sot. Now it's draining away noticeable faster.

Hi.
U might want to install BBS to check for any offending apps/settings that might drain yr battery.
Mine is actually opposite. My old one had a severe battery drain overnight (around 15-20%) but my new one only drains like 7%
Never understood why but my guess is the battery itself
Could it be a LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or other issue? Where I'm located my LTE signal varies and I tend to notice a difference in the battery life.

Not sure what happened but the battery drain is better now. I didn't change anything so not sure. Maybe it had something to do with the signal / radio.

Weird battery indication issues

I am using the Miui 8.0.1. stable Rom from xiaomi.eu
The battery indications are strange. The number gets low quick, it falls from 100% to 1% in a short period, and I am not doing much on the phone. It takes like 5-6 hours to go to 1 or 0% but when I take the battery out and put it in again and switch on the phone, all without charging it, then suddenly the battery shows like 56%. How can that be? It is quite annoying and makes no sense. The indication is not reliable at all. I don't even know how much battery is really left. Please help

Even after battery calibration, battery drain is still present. This has something to do with Redmi Note 2 having problems connecting to 2g, 3g and 4g cell towers and WIFI chipset.

I'm using the last stable miui 7 by xiaomi.eu and the 20 firsts minutes was consuming a lot, after this firsts 20 min it's working very well. I'm on 60 % after one day, with very few use, it's working very well for me.
I have detected that using the original charger causes the problem in my case.
It's better to use a USB port from a computer or an old charger. I think the problem is with fast charge.

I did some tests, I wrote the results also on the official forum in the Feedback on Battery thread.
I always had problem with battery since I got my Prime on Oct. 2015, max ~2h SOT, even on MIUI 7.
I did a test without SIMs, wifi only and I reached ~4h SOT.
Then I did a test again with SIMs and data (set to 3G), ~2h SOT again.
And another test wifi only, ~4h SOT again.
Can someone repeat the same test?
100% to ~15% on data -> ?h SOT
100% to ~15% on wifi -> ?h SOT

s9 plus exynos battery drain ( android system)

I have done factory reset atleast 5 times , but everytime 3-4 days later , the battery life tends to get poorer and poorer.
The day after factory reset - android system is consuming half the battery percentage of screen
But a few days later android system is taking alot of battery ( SCREENSHOT ATTACHED)
Can someone let me know that why is android system taking so much battery.
And what in android system ( like what apps ) are taking the battery.
Disable background activity for Android System.
Also, I get upto 10-12% consumption by Android system by the end of the battery without disabling background activity for it (10-12% turn out to be 50% of what screen consumes); though my SOT is consistently above 6Hrs.
Test the battery endurance in general and then judge if Android System power draw matters much.
interesting thread. For android system I also get 50% of what SOT consumes ... And I wonder what it can be and what are the consequences of denying background activity to it (activated the switch just now, I'll see if it changes something for me). I hope it does not disable notifications and so on ...
See the drain by Android system despite of disabling background activity.
It did not affect battery endurance; I'm getting am most same as what i was getting earlier.

You have 7 and a half hours of SOT and you complain? Your battery is not draining, you are using the phone, and the battery life is excellent.
Also more than 24 Hours of complete battery life on that SOT. This is incredible, I do not get any close to that. I am assuming that you are just trolling.

LOL, no, I'm absolutely not complaining.
I was telling OP that:
1. Things can improve slightly if he disables background activity for Android System
2. Android System consuming 50% as much power as Screen does not necessarily mean that it is the cause for bad battery endurance
I was giving example of good battery life despite of that 50% thing.

I don't have a problem.
My battery life (if you see the screenshot) is already excellent in my opinion with 2 SIM.
Shifting to single SIM didn't make any difference since network coverage is good almost always for me (I stay in a metropolitan).
I have already used the phone single SIM for a few days while it was new without any difference. Battery life was wise back then since phone was still adapting to the usage pattern though.

Poor battery life for me as well. Barely 15 hours with 3 hours SOT. With a custom ROM I got good battery life for a day or 2 and then back to square one.
I guess I will have to live with performance like many others.
Exynos btw.

BBS is BetterBatteryStats ... You can download from PlayStore/XDA
You can use the app to detect which apps are using how much of your battery percentage. However, you have to use adb to enable more stats inside the app. Using adb requires a PC
Guys I am also experiencing the same battery drain with android system. I mean it's the second in the list almost equal to screen. My SOT is 3 and half hours max. Tried factory reset and all. Restored apps manually too. Guess Samsung should release a patch for it. Mainly beaming services, Bixby, AnT+Hal keeps running in the background I guess.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Samsung Galaxy Note 9's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.

Read somewhere that there is no difference given that the phone still needs to push the same amount of pixels it was built to do. Curious..

Not necessarily. Could also mean that the signal from your telco company is not as strong as the other person's. This means your phone is pushing more power trying to get a better signal.

That's true. My house has bad telco network. Wi-fi does improve the battery drain a lot. Also my N9 is coming out to show its colors. Finished 2 work days with 40%+ battery.
So far, with Airplane mode 2% and without 3%. No AOD. Also rocks 2.5 days before recharging. At 2.5 days I have 15% battery left. I am impressed but it is still early.

2% an hour? How the hell do you get 2.5 days off a charge if you're draining 2% an hour? My standby averages .3-.7h an hour. Usually closer to .7%. I wish it stuck closer to .3% because I think .7% an hour is too high for the great reception I get.
