[SOLVED? DOES IT FIX FOR YOU?] Random vibrations - mostly on message send. Emui 9.1 - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

I've done a bit of looking and the only solution I can see is a factory reset, which is a pain in the butt
Since updating to emui 9.1 I've noticed my phone randomly vibrates
More specifically, it seems to do so after I send a message, almost like a delivery receipt notification.
Both in messages and Whatsapp
It's two quick vibrates, like a tap tap
Short of a factory reset, any ideas?
No root
I installed a notification tracker and sys logs viewer. No help
Edit
I think I found a solution
In Settings > apps > show system apps/processes
I found one called feature adviser
I made sure all vibrate settings were off on notification. So far so good.

try to uninstall the 2 "tips" apps maybe.

Can't find one in apps list. Must of uninstalled already?

I have noticed random vibrations too. It's always two short vibrates. I think that some app in the background crashes and instead of "the app crashed" we only get those vibration notifications.

I have the same... Also have whatsapp so maybe there is something with it...

Try to delete the Cache of the Phone or of the apps

It's the apps that from the appstore couldn't finnisched to instal. This was my issue.

Solved it by allowing appstore working in the background

I'm on EMUI 9.0 and I've having these, I downloaded a notification monitor to see what was triggering these vibrations,
It is the download manager which seems to make the phone vibrate whenever something is downloaded, in this case, my phone seems to be downloading Whatsapp audio files, I dont get any message notificaiton from whatsapp since I'm inside a feew groups and I've muted them, I'm pretty sure that is where these audios are getting downloaded from.
I may report back, I'll try disabling auto download audio files and see what happens.

it's whatsapp app. on emui 9.1 we get a vibration also when the other person reads the message.. quite annoying.
a temporary workaround would be, delete whatsapp from recent apps.
let me know if you guys solve the problem. I just purchased the mate 20 pro today so I can't try yet

Whatsapp is not my case - I do have it installed but I don't chat with anyone via Whatsapp. Anyway, I'll remove it for few days and see if it helps.

that was what an italian Android site news was saying. let us know
but I've just read some comments on that news, some people are experiencing vibration because the download app.. so yeah it might be not just whatsapp related

Problem is I cannot uninstall Whatsapp as I communicate a lot for work and overseas with it!
Anyone found another solution?
I do feel Whatsapp is the culprit, but also happens with normal message app too, but doesn't seem to be as frequent

Notifications posted twice

With the new version of WhatApp it seems that when I enable GCM push wake and keep notifications that the notification gets posted twice. It gets posted initially as per regular, then the app is launched via notification, it clears, then while IN APP it is posted again.
Very strage behaviour, has anyone else seen this?

Same here too.
It seems the notification appears twice when whatsapp get out of hibernation...
Is the experimental feature "Keep Notification" enabled?
Please long click the notification, select "app info" from pop-up menu, to see if it shows Greenify instead of WhatsApp?
yes it is, GCM push is enabled too.
App info shows whatsapp.
this behavior started after updating whatsapp about 2 weeks ago (android 4.4.4 stock rooted)

Don't make statements like that about a Dev without even searching the main thread for an answer. As a member, it is your duty first to search for an answer and only when no answer is found, you are supposed to open a thread.
Anyway, if both notifications are from Whatsapp what can @oasisfeng do about it?

I opened this thread the day after the mods closed the old main thread, there wasn't any other open thread about greenify.
And about the dev, I don't want to hurry him but he didn't even replied for one month, he could just say "I'm sorry I can't fix that".

What prevents/prevented you from searching the main thread? Whether closed or not it can be opened for searching and reading.
You can not expect @oasisfeng to reply to a person who doesn't help himself by searching and reading. He even gave you a hint in his post in reply to you, asking from where the notifications are coming. That should have alerted you to the fact that the proper place for your query is not here but in the threads dealing with Whatsapp. You yourself say that this problem started after updating Whatsapp.
If you refuse to search and read, no one can help you.

Yes there is. Make sure you have updated to the latest ROM (EU is B380)
1 - Backup all your stuff with Huawei native app
2 - Factory reset and let it boot
3 - Setup your google account and nothing more. Also don´t restore any apps yet.
4 - Test incoming calls when screen is off.
5 - Setup Huawei account
7 - Install Skype and it will restore itself call and chat history
8 - Test Skype (I have problems with it but I have 2 additional devices with the same account at the same time that rings at the same time so it might be just me)
9- Install fresh remaining communications apps like Whatsapp. From my experience when you restore from backup they will bug the notifications, so it´s better a fresh install while just restoring the chat history from backup.
10 - Setup maximum priority for communication apps notification
11 - If you feel it´s necessary you can also set those apps not to be closed and be automatically launched at startup.

No,
just open Telephon Manager
Enable Notification Manager and then check the config
you also have to allow the apps in autostart manager
and protect them

It's probably cuz these are third party apps
It's from Play Store.
I also tried with b170 and b360 update. I dont have the notification problem in my Honor 7 Indian Version..
Most notification problems comes from restoring those apps from backup.
If you just install a fresh app after factory reset and then ONLY restore app history (if needed as Skype doesnt need) you shouldnt get any notification problem.
Well phone is new, there is no any backup. I tried factory reset, same problem. I am waiting 14 days for huawei unlock code, i will root phone and then move apps from data/app to system/app, that should solve the problem. I am on EMUI 4.0.1 so that's all with marshmallow, everything else is working ok.

Unable to send GIF through whatsapp.39

[SOLVED]
Hi guys,
I apologise for creating this thread as I couldn't find any related to the problem I am facing.
I am currently using whatsapp 2.16.354 beta version
I was able to GIFS as soon as whatsapp announced the feature.
But, recently I realised I couldn't send them anymore.
This was possible by either sharing the GIFS through
-the giphy app
-the gallery icon in chat and then clicking the GIF tab
-built in video recorder which could convert videos which are 6 seconds or less into GIFS.
Now, I couldn't see or use any of them
- GIFS shared from giphy apps, render the GIFS into pictures
- no GIF tab in gallery
- no button to convert videos to GIFS in the video recorder.
Despite that, I am able to receive and view GIFS sent by others.
So far I tried these many procedures to solve the problem
-uninstalled whatsapp beta, reinstalled, cleared cache and data.
-uninstalled whatsapp beta, left the beta program, reinstalled stable whatsapp, cleared cache and data
And none of them worked for me.
It seems I am the only whatsapp user facing this problem as I couldn't find the solution anywhere and nobody knows anything about it.
P.S. I live in U.A.E. Since whatsapp call is banned here, did they ban GIFS too?
I would be glad if someone is able to resolve this issue for me.
Thank you.

I am facing the same issue. I have the Nexus 6P, on whatsapp 2.16.310 ... seems that the issue is specific to android
EDIT: I read an article stating that Whatsapp for android and Web (prod, not beta) do not support sending GIFs, but they can receive them. Guess it's only a matter of time.

So, if it's specific to android devices, how is that others are sending gifs?
Also have you noticed that after updating whatsapp through playstore. You have the option to send gifs when you open whatsapp the first time after update. The second time you open, it disappears.

I have the same problem...
I can only send the gifs that I have received from my contacts...
But if I download a gif from the internet and try to send it, the message "sending" remains forever and the gif is never sent...
I have the latest offical update...and I think it's possible due to having root or cyanogenmod

Well, yours seems to be different compared to mine.
Atleast you can select a gif and get a "sending" message. Mine just converts the GIF into a normal picture and sends the pic successfully.
I can't be possibly due to root or cyanogen because my friend too rooted his phone with cyanogen mod and he can send gifs without breaking a sweat.

So, i realized the problem was with the xposed module called KMOD which is used for whatsapp theming.
There was a option which enables/disables sending of GIFS. The toggle was switched off. Switching it on solved the issue.

push notifications not working after trying all the suggestions

Hi,
I just got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 recently and am having problems with push notifications for apps such as Whatsapp, Facebook messenger, LINE and so on. I have spent hours trying all the suggestions out there multiple times as to how to fix it but it still doesn't work. This includes:
1: Disable power saving mode.
2: Disable 'destroy activity' function.
3: Check Notification settings
4: Setup notifications for each App in settings.
5: Ensure app has notifications enabled.
6: Enable Autostart
7: Disable data saver and enable dual data on all apps.
8: Commit apps to memory.
9: Customise power saving settings.
Even after doing all this, I am still unable to receive messages and calls from apps in real time. I use another phone of mine to call myself literally 5 seconds after closing the app and still my Xiaomi phone does not register the call until I manually open the app and get a missed call.
Can someone please help me with this. Thanks.
I enabled Autostart for all the messaging apps and apps i need to run in the background and everything is working great for me.
I get calls from whatsapp all the time and everything working great.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have literally every single app enabled for Autostart just in case but still don't receive anything until I open the app manually. Tried reinstalling the apps and rebooting multiple times too.
With what apps you are having this problem? Me for example I don't have any problem with whatsapp but with Skype sometimes I don't get notifications because miui kills the process in the background which is very annoying.
I hope xiaomi will fix it in miui 9 (if we'll ever get this update on our rn4 anyway).

It works sometimes for Whatsapp and LINE but only sometimes, which doesn't make any sense. I'll get a notification for a message normally once and then won't get anything for awhile and be bombarded with missed messages when I open the app manually again. Doesn't seem to ever work for Gmail or Facebook messenger.

Did you try that?
When Android System notification is triggered Long press on "Android System" notification in the notification panel -> hit "More Settings" -> Disable "Allow notifications" and set "Lock screen notifications" to "Never".
It's from @jemeljsh look that thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74667287&postcount=3
For me that solution works better than installing a different app.

Somewhy ACR isnt working for me verry well, sometimes ACR causes me to hear nothing from other side, switching to loudspeaker and back fixes that, also verry bad quallity of recorded audio. Using another app works without problem.
Also autosync with google drive and acr doesnt works anymore, but was working on mate 9 pro without a problem :/
Actually verry dissapointed by huawei this time, no idea if its huawei sided problems or not, but still, my mate 9 pro feels way smoother than mate 10 pro..
