Need help rooting coolpad legacy 3705A. Can't find any info anywhere. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It is a fairly new device so I haven't seen anything on it but I'm hoping someone could point my in the right direction. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

Same here, looking for root!

Coolpad root
Good luck on this to you I am working as well and will post what I find

Picked up one of these today, we just started working on it a few minutes ago, I'll post the method once done. This could be hours, days, months, who knows, We do have fastboot and the Coolpad Kit from elsewhere on the forums so it shouldn't be hard. But we are working on it.

Same here I really want root, oddly for fastboot oem unlock it doesn't unlock , I have oem unlock enabled in developer options but when I run the command fastboot flashing unlock or fastboot oem unlock or pretty much any command besides fastboot getvar all it comes back with something like FAILED remote unknown command and I have no idea why I have the cool pad legacy/lithium cp3705a if anyone can lend me some knowledge on why the fastboot commands don't work that would be nice I was going to flash a gsi and try to patch a stock boot image via magisk but I can do anything without unlocking the bootloader first, I'm hoping it's not a kernel related issue

Yeah still working on it, waiting for some pie PoCs to come out. But fastboot is borked. I've requested the source code from them we'll see how that goes, doubt it will go anywhere. Can't even find the proper drivers for it. MTKTool is outdated so it can't even get a read on the FS to make a scatter file. All one click apps I tried didn't work so I wouldn't recommend those. OneClickRoot said it could root it but I'm not about to pay them to find out.
I did find a binary(locksettings) in system that allows you to set and remove passwords via command line which seems a bit insecure, but possibly exploitable, and an empty "cdrom_install.iso" in /system/etc But It just says:
"This directory contains the raw data that OEMs want to expose
to end-users.
Due to the limitation of mass storage. The cdrom ISO file should
be larger than 600KBytes.
If you put less files into this directory. Then it will create
a dummy file to fill the gap."
With a nice 616KB pad file.
That's all I've been able to get so far.

Thanks for the update that sums up what I've got as well although i didn't see that system img

Oddly my device seems to be having some sort of bug. The touchscreen will just randomly lock up , I've reset the device , I realized it doesn't so it in safe mode , so I tried deleted apps from adb shell that did nothing , but since it works in safe mode and the device has project treble support I feel as though flashing a gsi would fix the problem , but I can't so that with a locked bootloader

You might want to go through your apps and disable a bunch of the bloat. They had like 3 facebook managers, installers and stuff in there. That could be doing it. I haven't had any such issues but i've only had the phone a few hours and have been in a shell exploring it most of that time.
Update: EDL Mode is accessible. We haven't been able to successfully do anything with it yet due to lack of a firehose, but 9008 mode does work with EDL Cable. If anyone has a SDM450 firehose around that would be ideal.

I already noticed edl mode was there was planning on finding out what to do today , I have a firehouse for the board which is prog_emmc_firehose_8953_ddr.mbn , but I wasn't sure how that worked I'm not to familiar with edl mode or what it can do , also I'm not a dev just an experienced Android / Linux user
---------- Post added at 01:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:30 PM ----------
What would u even use to flash in edl mode? Say a gsi , because there's no stock firmware we can extract , but we can always get a rooted gsi if I'm not mistaken because the device does have project treble support

I'll see if I can find one. They have the board incorrectly listed as both an MTK board and as an msm8953 even though from what I've been able to find msm8953 is strictly the snapdragon625. And Snapdragon 450 doesn't have an msm designation. This thing is a mess inside.
It's been awhile since I've done this mind you. Android has changed a bunch since the 2.X and 4.X days. I've been on a Nexus 6P for years which is open by default.
Wish it was as easy as installing gingerbreak and tapping root like the old days. Lol

I would get temp root via a RCE or EoP pull the boot image, modify it and flash it in EDL therefore enabling fastboot and making the phone ready for TWRP. After that it's just a matter of writing a program that does this for you and the phone would be ready for development.

Well I've done all I know how to do I'll just leave it to you guys and keep an eye on this forum

Waiting for a poc or a firehouse to surface. Android 9 doesn't have many exploits available yet.

Device Unlocking Process Status?
Have we got anywhere with the device unlocking and rooting procedure with this device.

Nope. we are also NOT vulnerable to CVE-2019-2215 at least on my device with the June Patch. Just waiting for a valid exploit.
This is as far as it gets.

I don't know if you guys figured this part out yet or not but I was able to open the engineering menu and turn on the diagnostics port and modem. I'm not very familiar with using it to my advantage but I used quick shortcut maker to open it. It was under yulong labtest I believe. One of the menus are all in chinese so I'm not real sure what else it would let you access.

Cracking enterprise level security isn't just clicking a button. and you ain't paying me. I have a stack of phones and other devices to work on and other more pressing things to do with my life. So, kindly, take your opinion and shove it, root will be released when it's released.

EDL mode won't help without the proper mbn, none of which that are publicly available work. Or if you're talking about the hidden flasher activity we found that awhile ago but I haven't really looked too far into it as i don't have a USB-C OTG drive.

if anyone is intrested in jumping on the boat with me and trying to get this rooted let me know..
UPDATE::::
here is how to unlock the bootloader>>> THIS WILL WIPE THE DEVICE TO FACTORY SETTINGS
first enable usb debugging and make sure oem unlock feature is enabled in developer options.
download the minimal adb (attached)... Extract to desktop or wherever and then run MINADB.exe
in the terminal type adb reboot bootloader you will be rebooted to a black screen which says Fastboot Mode....
now in the terminal type fastboot oem unlock
press the up volume button when asked and WAIT
when its done it will show a menu of boot modes dont do nothing and in the terminal just type fastboot reboot
bootloader is now unlocked.. i am still working on rooting i am trying to find a way to dump the recovery and boot partitions but its proving extra difficult due to permission problems..
I'm in the same boat. I tried everything. I don't think there's a method available for this device yet.
well i am working on it i have done alot of work on new devices and manually figured a root method out.. firstly i need to try and find the source code for our tablet then i can try to get an unsecure boot image then other things will follow on from it..
I believe the source code is on lenovo's website. Idk if that's what you're looking for. http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/pro...,_tablet,_workstation_and_thinkserver_support

yes for other devices.. and i am hoping to find a way on this device but first i need a way to get a custom recovery working on it.. mtk droid tools is a handy place to start and its the best i had it wont root it but it sent me here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38337401&postcount=5 which happens to be an intresting read..
I too read up on that forum, but I'm not that well versed in Android development lol
lol... well its not so straight forward being that our tablet has a mediatek 64BIT processor.. when i owned the htc desire 510 (uk) it was the first phone with 64bit architecture but i was part of the community that managed to get it rooted after some gruelling hard work.. bad news is that this tablet will probably take quite some time crack.. :/ but i am working on it and i will post any progress on rooting it here..

Any luck with this? so frustrating cant get it rooted, cheers
Same here. I have only had my Tab 2 A8-50F for about a week. I am really liking this tablet. For the price it preforms rather well. Only thing keeping me from making a solid decision to keep it is the lack of Root. If I can't root it I might have to start looking for another device
what is so special about this tablet that it wouldnt be able to be rooted? geez.
I am working on a root but its taking longer than normal being the device has 64bit architecture and our chipset is unsupported across most mediatech tools out there oh and the fact it runs lollipop... Instead of thinking there is something special about it try an help yourselves by testing what is already out there and remember most root tools get updated often so keep an eye on them an keep trying until I can come up with something... I am working on it but these things take time when you have a full time job and 2 children t look after... Happy testing an if you find anything you think may help post it here or pm me... ???
Just got this tablet today, updated it from 5.0.2 to 5.1.0
Good device although the latest OTA (Aug 15) has some UI issues/bugs:
Squashes apps in landscape (most evident with Material Design apps like Play Books, Drive)
Completely breaks Lollipops notification bar coloring, just remains Black or changes to White (Google Translate is a good example)
Strangely the Chromecast icon now shows up permanently in any app that has support, never did this before.
Also, I didn't notice before whilst on 5.0.2 but 5.1.0 now has a "OEM unlocking - Allow the bootloader to be unlocked" toggle in the Developer options menu, is this any use?

ok so i have bricked my device hahaha although i have found out how to get it into preloader mode and it shows in device manager as an MT65xx preloader so if someone could follow this guide and backup there boot and recovery images i would be very gratefull and by providing the rom dump i can get mine unbricked and also get root easily..
could someone please do this for me out of good spirit and to help get root who ever follows the guide successfully at the link below and can provide the files i need will get full credit when it comes to releasing root and recovery..
(you must unclip the back off the tablet and remove a metal plate to unplug the battery befopre putting it into preloader/meta mode..

Q and A for [KERNEL][SGP712/SGP771] AndroPlusKernel v13

I have a big problem.
I unlocked the bootloader through Sony's developer-site, then tried to flash AndroPlus' kernel and TRWP. I had to try numerous times, since for some reason it refused to boot to TWRP, even though system booted fine.
Each time I started with flashing (Nordic) stock with Flashtool.
I finally got the tablet to boot to TWRP, but after trying to boot to system, it got stuck in a bootloop. I had to flash to stock again.
Now no matter what I try to fastboot, I get "FAILED (Remote: command not allowed". Flashtool seems to be able to re-unlock the bootloader, but it makes no difference.
If I try to unlock it through Sony, it gives the same error (so fastboot doesn't work _at all_).
Still boots to system fine.
Any help or maybe a solution even..?
USB-Hub?
@IlariJ
I had the same problem when I hooked up the tablet to my USB-Hub at the monitor.
Diving under the desk and connecting to an USB port at the PC did magic

I tried with different cables and different ports, still the same error.. I even resorted to Sony PC Companion's fix-tool, so I guess I have the regular stock now. I tried to unlock the bootloader again the "official" way, but that error persists.
Flashtool seems to be able to unlock (and relock) the bootloader, but this makes no difference for fastboot.
This is weird since if it had bricked for some reason, the solution would be to wipe my ass with it, but since the system boots and works fine, a little hope still lives.
@AndroPlus , any suggestions?

Did you do anything with MyXperia?
@DHGE @jelbo
I can honestly say I don't recall doing anything with or to MyXperia. If I accidentally "let" it trigger itself, would this mean that fastboot becomes unusable? For good? Not even a full wipe + reflash could salvage?

Reading the thread DHGE linked to it seems that MyXperia interference can result in the device being unable to unlock it's bootloader again. That's all I can say, I don't even have my Z4T yet

I'm sorry to ask this, but could you please be a bit more friendly? While IlariJ didn't mention he read your linked topic, he does provide useful info about what he's tried so far. If you know a solution or an answer, it's much more positive to just give him that, even though that might be 'you're out of luck'.
@DHGE Sorry, I didn't know I wasn't supposed to. My bad.
@jelbo ok, bummer. I really just found (and still find) it hard to believe that fastboot could get permanently messed up, so that even a total reset wouldn't, well, reset it. Thanks, though!

How-to get that TWRP recovery image flashed, so I can get recovery access on my Z4T?
Enter fastboot mode on Xperia z4. Then type in cmd: fastboot flash recovery <path to twrp_file>

Hi
You can get it at: https://dl.androplus.org/Xperia Z4 Tablet SGP712_SGP771/
Download twrp_2.8.7.0_(not)fixed.img
you must have the usb driver installed in your PC and adb and fastboot installed from google sdk
Is there still any update or solution to having MyXperia f'd up fastboot?
I tried to contact Sony that to my knowledge only unlocking the bootloader voids warranty, and since that's impossible because fastboot doesn't work, I should get this fixed. They didn't really refuse (at least after my hard convincing) and told me to contact the seller.
I did, and the seller said fastboot is more of a gimmick-possibility than a "assumed-to-work"-feature of Android (safe to say I don't agree). They sent links to different YouTube-videos on older devices, but I couldn't really find any solution or even a 100%-matching problem.
They also said that if I send this for repairing, the service company would only do a wipe/reset and then bounce the tablet back. Given that the Finnish Sony-service is notorious for making up water damage and/or "mechanic damage" to get to refuse warranty, I'm not really confident to send it there.
And also, to my knowledge the problem is much deeper than what a simple reset would solve, since I've done that and even re-flashed the firmware.
..how is it even possible for a simple software to break the whole fundament of the tablet? So bad even a complete wipe and reflash doesn't help?

So it seems like it boots to fastboot fine, even Command Prompt shows it listed as a fastboot device, but no command goes through.

Ok, so your bootloader is 'unlocked' but fastboot still refuses to flash anything.
That's partially a good thing:
Can you boot to fastboot and then execute run 'fastboot oem unlock' on your pc/mac.
What does fastboot say about that?

if that says "command not allowed" as well, then your bootloader is probably relocked by means of flashmode.

Rooting the new Samsung galaxy express 3

I have a problem trying to root the Samsung Galaxy Express 3, model samsung-SAMSUNG-SM-j120a

If your problem is not solved try the latest version of kingroot. It should root almost all samsung devices.
Link are just below. Its one tap root app. No PC needed.

Tried it, no go.
I've rooted the s4, the original Kindle fire, some weird Motorola photon, both Nexus 7s, htc 8 & 9. All required unlocking the bootloader. Not sure how to do that with this phone. I turned on adb debugging, oem boot unlock.. I remember with the s4 I had to load a crap ton of stuff in kies... then something else to reset the knox flag.
The phone only has 8 gigs of internal storage, 5 of which is used up by the os. Not all games/apps want to move to the SD card and because Sammy decided that no one would like the option to have s spanned file system between internal and external storage, it has become somewhat useless. Xposed with obb on SD is the cure, but I need twrp and su.
I can't get this thing to even go to fast boot.. that just reboots the phone. Download I'd nominally more useful, but it wants files. Recovery allows adb side load.. that's about it.
It's a nice cheap phone, but I have just been avoiding manufacturers who lock the thing down, so I'm way out of the loop. Any pointers are welcome.

Still no luck
I've tried everything I know of. Thanks for keeping up with this page. Lets keep it alive, this is the only thread in existence that i've seen so far.
Isn't a rebrand of the Samsung j1? Maybe the instructions for rooting that would work for you guys I could be wrong but it was a thought when I seen this thread

I just had to give it a try myself, even though two other people claimed it didn't work. And they are right, it claims your phone is rooted, but it's not. Very aggravating. If it can't be rooted, it just can't be rooted....but why the heck does SRSroot claim their software will do it when in fact it will NOT?
I'm just disappointed if it can't be rooted, but it makes me angry to be lied to. And SRSroot lied. Makes me wonder exactly what their software actually put on my PC....since they can't be trusted. Now I have to waste even more time scanning and scrubbing my PC for whatever malware they wanted to install with their bogus software that does not work. And if it doesn't do what it claims to do, exactly what is it doing? No telling what their bogus software put on my phone, because it sure didn't root it. Despite claiming it did.

Dunno... I've seen references to j100a-h, j120a/sm-j120a seems different (not dual-sim, exynos processor).. dunno if the others are gsm-based.
Haven't seen any firmware replacements in case loading the partitions (or whatever Kies does) above through Kies is flat out wrong and messes with the radio.
My knowledge with Sammy's internals is rather lacking, and until that specific at&t model has a stable root (and twrp would be nice) I'm going to be a chicken about this.
I saw king root had a new release. May try that again. Will message if it's working.
you can try to root it from computer.. i ever heard about geniusroot.. but i never try it, hope this will work for you
i asked my best friend who knows alot more then i ever thought of and he said the best bet with the new samsungs is king root like yall have been trying or a program called iroot he talked about developer settings on the phone called oem unlock and usb debugging and download mode being volume down + home + power in his text message I think if you could get into download mode you should be able to use tools like odin or adb to push a recovery or get root access but that might take a developer or someone with more knowledge to use ota tools and dump a boot image and build a custom recovery or some advanced **** like that if someone hasnt already I'm sure xda university could turn up detailed steps to porting clockworkmod for now I guess its a waiting game for yall till more ppl end up with these devices in hand and some free time i included some files you may need with a grain of salt to get anyone started that turned up from a quick search for your device

Yes, if I could fastboot flash recovery twrp.img/cwm.img that would make life easier. However, the bootloader is locked, and generally one must unlock it... I cant even figure out how to get the phone to respond in fastboot mode.
I turned on adb debugging, and I can adb shell, adb push, adb reboot bootloader (which just reboots the phone), adb reboot recovery (which allows sideloading.. I think), and adb reboot download, which seemed the most useful.
I can't set adb to root, I can't mount system r/w so I can place/flash su/supersu.
Latest KingRoot did not work, havent seen iRoot before, looks like you have an md5 of the boot image in there, instead of the actual image...
Yeah. I'm clueless about this one. I'm sure its something stupidly easy.
i dont have the device so I cant hand it off to my friend or i would also i was wrong about the j1 as someone said but i do belive the amp 2 but searching specs the amp 2 looks to be a sister phone you might wanna keep up with the root options that may pop up for that only thing i was told was enabling usb debugging and the oem unlock option first in the developer settings like in the screenshot from that phone id look into maybe frama or towel that might work from the phone side idk just trying to help

Feb. 23, 2017......Please Help
Please help, i have been everywhere on the net and tried every possible method presented. adb, side load, factory reset, wipe/cache. nothing works. rooted my phone, later unrooted because i was gonna take it to be fixed because softkeys stopped workin, but downloaded button savior instead. then eventually wanted mt phone root again. forgot to adb "reboot disemmcwp" first. long story short, bricked phone, stuck at zte logo. i can enter the recovery mode. but it will not allow me to update from sd card for some reason. my usb debugging is not turned on. and most importantly I cannot for the life of me find stock rom or any other rom for this damn phone. as mentioned, i already did factory reset and wiped my data but it did not solve issue. i read in another forum that disabling certain apps could cause a soft brick after doing a factory reset, i did have some apps disabled. so dont know if that is the cause. I know how to flash firmware, roms, and recoveries. But i cannot find a custom rom, or a custom recovery for the ZTE Prestige N9132......so can someone please give me a copy of the stock firmware, or kindly direct me as to where i can download it???? I have scoured the internet for literally 4 days now and cannot find any firmware for this model phone at all......PLEASE HELP!!
6/1/2017 Phone Softbricked
my phone is rooted but last night after it died on me it didn't want to charge it kept turning on and off so this morning I did a hard reset also I charged the physical battery and well after the hard reset it showed
missing bitmap stage_empy
(code-7)
missing bitmap stage_fill
(code-7)
It took a charge and would take me to the setup and then stop at Update Phone and wont go no further.
I already tried live chat with zte and all they want is to pay to get phone repaired
someone help we need the stock rom and I would appreciate it. Thanks
Had mine rooted too and working perfectly, but was trying to replace stock dailer with a custom one. I meant to uninstall the stupid Smart Contacts bloatware and freeze the dailer to see if that caused any problems. But instead I did that backwards by mistake, but I had made backups ... But for some reason couldn't get the backup to reinstall correctly. Titanium was saying the dailer was reinstalled but app crashed at startup. after several attempts I gave up and tried resetting phone to see if that my fix it since it was a default app. Well now I can't get past setup mode. Gets stuck in a loop trying to verify my google account. I also recall after I messed with dailer I couldn't get google to sync contacts, which is why I was so concerned about putting it back. Anyways no stock firmware to be found on net, guess I'm SOL. I think we sould make a post for how to root this phone, b ecause I was a process. And when noobs come looking to see we ask them to get that stack firmware for us before that root. I never did find an easy guide on here just had to search around till I found that piece of adb code that unlocked our bootloader and allowed us to root.
https://androidforums.com/threads/z...ax-and-other-zte-phones.1040331/#post-7317521
Code:
adb reboot disemmcwp
If we can get them to enter the adb code and then copy firmware with adb, would that work? Haven't fooled around with adb to much so I really don't know.
Edit: Just to clarify, I say we should make a new post explaining how to root this phone because the whole time I was searching how to root my prestige never once did this thread come up. If it did, I probably had been able to help those before me and those after me, but to late now... Now I'm in the same boat. Reminds me of the broken soda machine that people keep putting money in all day instead of some one taking time to put a note up warning others to not lose their money too. I'm not that person I now want to help stop other people from making the sames mistakes over and over that seems to be a pattern here.
I found really the only way to root the prestige is with 360 root, not sure if it's actually rooted but I can do everything a rooted phone can but it's only temporary, I have to re root it every time I turn it off or on. 360 is in Japanese but if you download an translation app such as Microsoft translate ( that's better than Google translate in my opinion ) you can pretty easily get your phone rooted. I've used king root and had it rooted for maybe 2 hours then it rebooted by itself and lost it but yeah 360 root in my opinion is the easiest way to root it without a computer.
I found and download firemware on easy-firmware.com/home/browse/category/id/27213/ but phone not seen in fastboot mode, update from sd card not work too. if volume + - and power on phone seen like zte handset diagnostic interface. Please help, how restore this phone?

I think not, because you have N9132V1.0.0B09 but in the downloaded file higher N9132V1.0.0B12 Therefore, it should be updated without replacement, most likely the firmware is broken. Unfortunately I can't restore this phone either. I think you can restore from ZTE Handset Diagnostic Interface(DFU), but how, somebody knows?

[Hisense a9] Root - Reward Offered (Snapdragon 662)

The Hisense a9 is an e-ink 4g smartphone that I want to use as my own Frankenstein light phone.
I would like to root mine and use this custom launcher to create a minimalist phone that isn't quite as useless as the Light Phone concept (i.e bigger screen, some web browsing, play store, etc).
I've dug around and so far it looks like everyone who has tried has hit a dead end.
I will come right out and say I am an absolute vanilla dumb dumb noobie noob who cannot write a single line of code. I'm just a simple man who wants this simple phone to run vanilla android and not have the CCP peeping around in my business.
To the FIRST person to successfully gain root access to this phone, I will reward you with .25 ETH. You can respond here or email me at [email protected].
Yes, I have 2accounts installed. Yes I managed to install some GAPPS. I am not interested in any compromises. Get China away from this phone and give me exactly what I listed above, the ether is yours.
Admins, please advise if this violates any community rules. Thanks!
I'm one of the people who was trying to root my Hisense A9, and as OP rightly said I hit dead ends. I'll also add 0.25ETH or another coin / fiat of the same value for this phone to get rooted. It would be such a great phone if it was rooted!
I like minimal launchers too. Here's my custom one.

Amazing! That gets us up to .5 ETH. If there is anyone else who wants to contribute to the "bounty" it would definitely be worth a more skilled dev's time to crack this case.
I know there is a big fringe group of eink phone lovers who want to see this happen!
@RunnyYolk any idea if there's a platform we can post the reward on to guarantee it to the winner? I'll gladly contribute upfront.
One last thought: is it unheard of to find a hardware solution for something like this? Swapping out the board or something? Sorry, I'm really shooting from the hip here.
That A9 costs a chunk of money. I was thinking of the A5 which is not too expensive.
Is the A5 rooted already?
Anybody got an A9 with a somewhat/totally broken screen that they want to sell cheap?
Bumping this thread .
Thanks for the bump - just checking in to say my reward still stands. @a9project , I don't know if there's any reward / bounty platform we can use - good idea though so that people know the reward is set. Open to suggestions.
Just commenting to show there's another person eager to see this phone rooted.
Hello guys,
I have a disease called visual snow and light emitting screens are considered one of the reasons of this disease. So i may really need this phone but without the root it really doesn't meet my needs.
If i had the money i would really donate more. Thank you donators , you may save some vision if this happens.
I also have the a9, and I'm joining the bounty with @a9project and @RunnyYolk, adding my 0.25 eth share.
If SecureBoot is enabled you'll need a HiSense signed Firehose loader to get EDL working.
Looking around, I see that HiSense makes an effort on their MediaTek devices to have a secure boot.
So, I'd presume that the A9 has SecureBoot enabled.
If someone found the UART on this, you could see it say whether that is true or not.
If it didn't have SecureBoot we might be able to dig up a loader for this.
The attempts to get EDL working that I've seen listed don't seem to be very coherent.
The only other solution is an exploit. I'm no good at that.

I had a go at getting EDL to work (might have been my attempts you saw), but I don't know what I'm doing really. I'm a software developer, but nothing to do with Android / system stuff so I'm pretty lost. I opened a couple of issues on EDL GH, but the main one was closed off by the developer:

Yeah it has `secure:yes`. This sounds like the SecureBoot you mentioned above, so I'm assuming that's not good news. Here are a couple of outputs for `fastboot getvar all` that I found in another thread:
pastebin.com/d2bjas8e
pastebin.com/1afywunu
One of these pastebins is from resetting the phone into fastboot mode, and the other is from rebooting from fastboot into the bootloader.
For anyone using the 2accounts or F1 workaround, I installed GBox yesterday and it's easily the best workaround for now: https://www.gboxlab.com/ - it's still a virtual environment, but it loads apps quickly and seems to pass notifications through more reliably. It also does things like letting apps automatically ready SMS auth codes, which never worked for me with 2accounts or F1. I can't get Google Assistant working still, but everything else I've tried works beautifully. I think this is as close to a native experience as we'll get until the phone is rooted.
I'm also very interested in having the a9 rooted.
I will add 0.25ETH to the bounty started by @a9project , @sphink and @RunnyYolk
I saw a method to extract boot.img on the Hisense forum.
Although it is for a7cc, it should be a general method.
But they said that it seems that the bootloader still needs to be unlocked.
Maybe a9 can have an unlock method,Because the processor he uses is Qualcomm Snapdragon 662.

One of these pastebins is from resetting the phone into fastboot mode, and the other is from rebooting from fastboot into the bootloader.

Hey, I'm trying to root my A9 as well.
I believe we are at the same stage with process.
Do you mind sharing your exact steps, so I can try to reproduce your results?
Thanks!
I read through the fans.hisense website. There are users who are asking for a A9 img. Because of the lack of SD card, the Hisense support said that only online updates are permitted. However, the support also said that the user should contact customer service and they might help them.
Sorry for the lack of links I found this info last year before I knew about this thread.
If someone can contact hisense support and ask for the img they might supply it. I have no idea how to do this thou. For the A7 they frequently post all img files on their forum. So I doubt they care if A9 img gets out.
