S9+ won't charge with cable, or wireless - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Weird, I connected s9+ to computer and tried to copy files, but it said no files on your device
So i tried multiple times reinsert usb plug. Suddenly device not recognized. Suddenly it stopped charging too. Went to shop and they tried wireless charging, but said ''no response, negative charge''
Im on android p and had 5% battery left, backed up some stuff by copying to external sd and then i wanted to look for enable wireless charging options but no battery left....
If i connect via usb lightning icon appears then black, no charge, sometimes water warning
What could be the problem

Once find that usb on the phone end gets really hot while plug into my laptop. Glad to realize it and pull it right away. Maybe yours is too late and broken the charging port. I suggest go to Samsung repair.

[Q] dropped phone. slow charging!

the other day my phone feel of the couch while pluggd into the pc. it stopped chargibg and woukd not connext to pc.
i lost the original cable so ive been using a mini to micro usb adapter for an old cable i had for my g1 which hss worked perfectly.
thought i had broke the sockey on thr phone. had a tmobile shop check it with there cable. it was fine. so boyght a microusb cable.
everything seemed fine. charge light. usb drive worked internet tether. but then the phone ran out of battety while usb tethering. it always stays at 100% before.
with the battery low it woukf rrstart every minute whole plugged into original chargrr.
its charging but very slowly. 15% in 2 hours. checked battery pins. seems fine. i dkd manage to get 37% charge in 30 monutes once irh the phone off.
the phone doesnt even get warm while plugged in. it used to get pretty warm when cuargibg.
tried hard reset. trief reflashig rom. it knows wall charger is in. says charging orange charge light.. but it charges sooo slow...
im stuck. is this a repair jobk
Just got home and tried the new cable in my home PC. ive already lost 1% battery in the space of a few miutes usb tethering....
make sure you have the "don't charge the phone while connected via usb" unchecked. Other than that, sounds like a hardware problem.
i cant find that setting, only do not charge when the phone is on., which is off. Ive just noticed something else. the brightness setting for AC power effects the brigthness when connected to usb. I dont think it knows the difference between ac and usb anymore.

when you plug it into the wall, do you get the menu for: Activesync, Disk Drive, Internet Sharing? If so, then this is true. Really sounds like a hardware issue. I would take it back in and see if they can replace the port.
nope, when i plug it into the wall, no menu. it does seem to know the difference between usb and power. as using the option "when phone is on, do not charge when the pohone is connected to pc" has no effect with the wall charger.
I tried a different wall charger. I have a travel charger which is only rated at 500ma instead of 1amp and it charges the same. I was able to get 100% overnight. woke up after 8 hours to see the green light on, it stays at 100% with the wall charger as long as you leave it alone.
back into the computer, tethering and im loosing battery as if it wasnt connected.
Looks like ill have to dig out my insurance as its not a warranty repair (and also the water damage stickers are red, due to it being dropped in the toilete 3 months ago)
hmmm interesting. phone has been in charger overnight and was at 100% when i got up, pluigged into pc for usb tethering, despite battery dropping the green light is still on.
Ive done some searches on usb micro cables and came across people having problems with some data cables with charging, as some cables cannot cope with the large current required, but they mentioned that there phone would say this and i have seen that on my phone before with my front usb ports on my computer.
Im gonna order a microusb adabter as i have 2 high qualiity usb-mini usb cables from a G1 (which was usbed with an adapter with no problems) and 1 from a tmobile mda varia, same cable.
This has now been solved. After closer examination of the USB mini to micro adapter, it apeared that the 2 outside pins (which are for charging) had been flattened. Looking at the adapter, you could only see the 3 middle pins, but with a torch you could see that the oiutside pins were compelty flat. from droping the phone its oviously twisted the connector resultinin in flatting those pins.
I went back to tesco and bought the same USB kit which comes with a mini USB cable and several converters to fit different phones.
AFter hooking up the cable and micro usb adapter to my PC, my phone was within minutes showing increase in battery charge. After a few hours with usb tethering enabled and watching videos online im up 2-%.
The cable i bought for £7.99 which is micro usb though doesnt mention any HTC phones (mostly nokia) will connect perfectly for data transfer and the phone appears to say its charging. It looses power suggesting insuficient charge current. Maybe its the rom im using disables thsi warning as i have seen this before when i connected my phone to the front usb ports, but it works fine with the back.
So, it seems i have not damaged anything apart from the usb adapter i was using.
All is well, and im charging at a fast rate with USB while tethering.
Please close this trhead as it is resolved.
Final update. After several days i have been usb tethering and charging absolutly fine. Using 1amp charger charges fast!
Even from a dead battery can plug into usb and have the phone bootup.

[Q] Car Charging While Using

Something I noticed while in my car this weekend for a trip.
I connected my Tab to my phone via wi-fi for internet. It was the first opportunity I got to use the Navigation on the Tab so I gave it a whirl. About halfway through my trip I decided I'd try charging it while running. The charger I have is a Verizon one, has a cable for my cellphone coming out if it, but it also has a USB "port" for charging other USB devices. When I plugged in the Tab, kies came up and it had a charging symbol on the battery. I didn't want kies running and I backed out of it and fired up Navigation again. However, as soon as I exited kies it would not charge. Is it normal for the Tab to only charge while kies is running and it thinks it is in a USB port? I haven't tried it on a real computer USB port to see if it happens there.
Edit, just found this post re: USB on a computer, same thing I experienced in my car, I think:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132691
The device is looking for a specific voltage on the data pins in order to put it into charge mode.
Look at my post on how to make your own cables to fix this problem.
/i tried something very similar - it was charging but had a circle with a slash through it on top of the battery and would show the charging symbol as well.
My guess is that it wasnt the correct voltage - but it did still charge. A bit strange
See my post here.
I have a regular AC/DC wall outlet thing that plugs into my power outlet on the dash. Works perfect. 7 bucks at Fry's.

Prime won't charge

Hello
My prime was charged a few weeks ago, and i haven't used it in a while so it discharged and turned off.. Now when I try to plug It in, it shows that it is charging, but nothing happens..
It charged for 3 hours, and when I unplug it, it can't turn on.
If I leave it plugged in and turn it on, it shows a screen with low battery icon and turns off immediately.
I can charge the keyboard just fine, the charging led on the keyboard turns green after a while.
It's rooted, but stock rom and have never unlocked it, so no customer recovery..
Hope someone can help me out :/

It sounds like your battery may have died on you.
Are you using the AC charger or the usb charger?
Mine takes a long time on the usb but charges better on ac.
Are you charging them both while docked, if so try undocking and charging them separately.
How old is the battery, Prime now?
The battery is guaranteed for 12 or 24 months also, just check where your serial number is and it will have a 12 or 24 number on the right under your model number.
Also,l check the charging port and make sure no debris or foreign matter has accumulated in it and some of the pins aren't bent.
If none of this works it means you have an internal problem and a different recovery won't help because you still cannot get it charged.
Post back with your results please.

I've tried both charging it through USB from my computer and through the wall charger (original charger and cable).
I've tried charging it both docked and undocked, separate and together.
The Prime is bought about 7 months ago, and i have checked for dust and such in the various parts.
It says "12" below the serial number btw, but i bought it from England (i live in Denmark) though Amazon, so it would be hard for me to return it..
Though there is 1 thing that is bugging me and i'm not sure if it can be the problem.
There is 1 pin that's not aligned with the others on the charger port on the prime itself
Picture to explain: http://i45.tinypic.com/2r4sw7t.jpg
The 2nd pin from the far left is a bit longer inside the device than the others. I've tried to get it out by using a little metal stick (don't know what its called ) but I've been unsuccessful..
The prime obviously gets some sort of connection when i plug it in (though only if i plug it into the wall charger, doesn't happen with USB, which i kinda predicted) and gets enough power to vibrate, then turn on for about 4 seconds to show a big red battery icon (meaning low power) and then turns off..
I've tried to correct the pins on the wall charger so they're more stable and connect better, i've tried putting the wall charger in the freezer for 20min (google'd it as a possible solution, other said it helped them). I currently don't have any other charger or cable that can connect/charge the prime, but i don't think the problem lies with the charger/cable..
I left the dock+prime docked together charging all night and when i woke up, the dock LED was green but it still wasn't able to boot up at all..
Is there anything i can do to reset the Prime? I've tried the little pin hole under the sd card slot, i've tried various combinations of volume up and volume down and power, but i always end up with the screen with the big red battery icon..

I am 90% sure that 2nd pin from the left is your problem. if you cant find a way to pop it back into place or dont know somebody who can do it for you then you should probably rma.
here is a thread about the pinout. Take a look at the diagram on post 6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630300&highlight=pinout
Hi there,
My TFP won't charge or be recognized by my iMac. I have changed the battery, no joy; I replaced the charging port; no joy; and got new charger and cable even though all my others charged other devices, .
Any ideas? Much appreciated

This happened to me because the battery connector inside the device was loose, I had to open up the device up and re-connect it. This time, I've placed some tape to try and make it not fall out again. Maybe the battery is faulty?

[Q] My SAMSUNG mobile issue related to USB charging port

One day my data cable gone out of order; its pin separated. However I soldered the PIN with cable and connected my mobile to computer. It suddenly shut down and when I switched on, it shows it is being plugged in but it was not. I cleaned the port but in vain. Please help. As it gives no notification when I plug in and plug out. for charging , even though battery is charging. Very annoying situation is.

Xperia Z2 Weird Charging problem

Ok so I started having a weird charging issue with my Xperia Z2, a few months ago when I plugged the phone in to charge and noticed it was constantly showing it was charging and disconnecting non stop (basically this here Xperia Z2 charging disconnect)... first thought was maybe my usb cable (original Sony cable) was buggered but nope, plugged in my Xperia Z5 on the same cable and it charged fine, so I tried my magnetic charger on the Z2 and nothing, no charge at all. Eventually when the phone died completely then I was able to get it to charge but not without some issue, when plugging in it would still do the same thing, charge and disconnect constantly, it would take unplugging the cable and plugging it in again a few times till the phone would eventually charge and even though the charge would show 100%, when I turn the phone on, the battery percentage would vary anywhere between 80%-95% and it would discharge very fast.
I figured it may have been my battery as I have been using the phone with an expanded battery since like 2020 and thought maybe thats it for the battery. Eventually got around to getting a new battery this weekend and the phone still does the same thing but its a bit different now, connecting it with my Sony cable still did the same thing when connected to the wall charger, charge and disconnect constantly. Then I thought maybe it could be a software issue so I connected my phone to my PC using a different usb cable to copy some stuff to my PC before resetting the phone to see if that helps...connected it and it was charging...so I take my Sony cable and connect it to the PC with that and it was charging...unplugged the cable from the PC and plugged it into the wall charger and it was charging and disconnecting again. Plugged it into the PC again and started charging. Tried the other usb cable with the wall charger and it did the same constant charging and disconnecting. I know the wall charger is working fine as I am charging other phones on it too with no problems.
I try a third usb cable on the wall charger, this is a real cheap low amp cable, my Z2 starts charging with it almost normally, painfully slow but it was charging. Now I say almost normally because when it charges to around 90% then it starts doing the constant charge and disconnect again. Also the battery doesn't discharge as fast as it was doing before but still a bit fast.
I want to try flashing a new rom, stock and custom to see if any of those might work.
Would any one have any idea of the issue or experienced anything similar and was able to fix it? Any help any one
In the past I had a similar problem, try to clean the Usb port on phone and try again.
Kindly regards
I remember reading something about the live kernel being involved in charging. It makes sense for this to break charging while completely empty. To charge at full speed you need the kernel to be running, but to get the kernel running you need power, the trickle charge you get without a kernel isn't enough to keep up with the boot process, so you end up in a loop of no power. I have not tested if another kernel fixes it, but it is currently broken on my device.
