Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is an open-source software custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows users to install third-party firmware and back up the current system, functions often unsupported by stock recovery images. It is, therefore, often installed when rooting Android devices, although it isn't dependent on a device being rooted to be installed.

EDIT: Link fixed!

Great work Rupanshji!! It works on my SM-T595. THANKS!!!

Not so quick, it does not work on mine. When I flash twrp in odin it tells me that it is unverified package on tablet and odin says failed. Anyway, could anyone share a patched bootloader? I have the latest rom ...... June.

No the bootloader was unlocked. I finally was able to flash twrp. You missed a step though:
0) Reflash all the OEM First before flashing TWRP
Just a heads up to anyone else....
If you get this message in red text:
"Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed"
or this message in a blue screen of death:
"Security Error: This device has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair/return for this issue may have additional cost."
Congradulations! You just tripped SAMSUNG'S SECURITY APE! You just won..... more flashing.... :silly:
Just reflash "ALL OF THE STOCK FIRMWARE." The BL + AP + CP + CSC to fix it and put the ape back into the cage.
Here is the command to push a file to the SD card with ADB:
adb push Disable_DM-Verity.zip /sdcard/Disable_DM-Verity.zip
Thanks rupanshji !!!! Hope you get encryption working soon and LOS.

If you could also make it compatible with the SM-T597, that would be nice

Hi rupanshji. Any news on lineage? I'm really impressed with the specs of the tablet and confused why there is almost zero efforts to get any custom roms ready for that device.

Just to let everyone know. LOS is still being worked on. His laptop is in repair so he has to get it back. If you have the 595 tablet PLEASE JOIN THE TELEGRAM GROUP so you know what is going on.

I can confirm that it is working on SM-T597P with firmware T597PVPS2ASG3. I also went ahead and pulled the stock recovery and boot, as well as modified the RootFix for any device. You can find those files here Link. Thanks Dev for bringing this to light . I also didn't follow the install directions exactly so ill list the steps i took.
1. Flash TWRP with modded odin and reboot to download.
2. Flash Stock recovery and as soon as it reboots enter stock recovery.
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
4. Reboot to Bootloader from Stock Recovery.
5. Flash TWRP again and after reboot enter TWRP.
6. Flash RootFix.
7. Flash DM-Verity and Force Encryption Disabler.
8. Reboot to system.
If anyone would like me to pull the stock recovery of their firmware for them i'm more than happy to.

Compatability with the sm-t590 would be greatly appreciated

Some People make nandroid backup of all 6 partition for 300-fu and put on this forum for me? I don't have PC and i don't make start. I'm make bootloop for flash this.
Hi there, I just flashed this deodex version from here but I'm stuck for a while now (a lot more than 8 minutes !) on the Samsung Galaxy A3 boot logo...
What should I do ? Try to get back to TWRP (if I still got it...) to restore my old original Samsung ROM ?
Thanks for your advices !
Edit : Well... this one was tricky. If someone is in the same case once : stuck on Samsung boot logo, trying to cut off power via Power+Home buttons not responding... I succeeded to enter download mode, then flashed again auto root by Chainfire then flash TWRP and ASAP enter recovery mode. Had to do it two or three time because it tried to enter in normal mode (and then bootloop). Then I restored my backup from TWRP.
I don't know why your deox didn't work...
You must first upgrade on 5.0.2 from odin.
If anyone is flashing the zips from post 1 then you definately need to be on lollipop already or update with odin. If you update with odin and lose imei/unknown baseband, you may need to flash twice. Modem fails to install on first flash. As always, run odin as administrator.

I had a similar adversity. At first I didn't know what to do as well when my phone's stuck in Samsung Galaxy A3 bootlogo(not to be confused with boot animation). Then I found out it was because I did a full wipe before flashing the Deodexed.zip. So in short, the solution to your problem is simply not do a wipe before flashing the Deodexed.zip. You must straight flash the Deodexed.zip without wiping anything(scripts are already written in the zip itself). That worked for me as the phone finally gets through the bootlogo. Hope this can solve your problem.
OMG! Guys, can you see "wipe system" in installation instruction? No? I'm too. It's just because no MUSTN'T do any wipes.
So, restore you nandroid backup and flash zip without wiping.

[GUIDE] Guide to Installing Official Cyanogenmod 13 on your Mi5

Disclaimer
I haven't made or contributed to any of the tools/ROMs/Kernels here. All the respective authors have been linked in the credits section at the bottom of the post. Also, the version of Cyanogenmod used in this thread is a nightly build and can be unstable. User bgcngm has done some really excellent work to make this ROM near perfect. I won't make unnecessary guides. If I find a guide anywhere that's good enough, I'll simply post a link to it rather than make another one. I've tried to make this guide as noob friendly as I can. If you have any questions, just post them and I'll be happy to answer them.

Each step of the guide REQUIRES you to have completed the step prior to that one for it to work. For example, you can't go installing TWRP on your device without unlocking the bootloader first.
Prerequisites:
Xiaomi Mi5
TWRP for Mi5 by Cofface
Latest Cyanogenmod 13 Nightly Build
You can follow this guide to see how to install ADB on your system.
OpenGApps. I suggest you download the micro package.
Let's get started:
Unlocking the Bootloader:
The first thing any Mi5 owner NEEDS to do is to unlock their bootloader. Here is a great guide for unlocking the bootloader of the Mi5 (or any Xiaomi device for that matter) by TheUltrametricSpace. It's much better than anything I can make. So before you do anything go here and unlock the bootloader.
Installing TWRP:
When I use the Official TWRP from here, my touchscreen doesn't work. I haven't a found a solution yet. If any of you know how to fix this then please post it down below. If it works out I'll put it up in this guide. For now, we'll use TWRP by Cofface for Mi5. So far this is the only TWRP that seems to work for me.
You're most likely coming from MIUI 8 and thus, running Marshmallow. I'm not sure but there is some sort of encryption that Google has put in so you cannot use TWRP to flash your .zips from Internal Storage. So before you go any further, backup your files/apps or anything you might need.
Go to the platform-tools folder and extract the .rar file that you downloaded earlier containing TWRP there.
Rename the .img file extarcted from the TWRP .rar to twrp.img
Run the CMD shortcut you pasted in the ADB folder from the guide above as an administrator.
Connect you Mi5 to your computer. Hold both the Power and Volume Down button to boot into the bootloader. You should see this image.
[At this point, you MUST have fastboot.exe and twrp.img inside the platform-tools folder.
Now go back to the CMD window you opened. Type in the follwoing:
Code:
adb devices
Press enter. You should see your device in the window after typing this.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Press enter. On the command window you should see a few lines popup and at the end it will show time taken to complete operation. So far so good.
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Press enter. You should now see the TWRP flash screen.
If TWRP is in Chinese, worry not.

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Tap on the second box to select language. Scroll down and select English.
Swipe to allow modifications.
You should be in TWRP now.
DO NOT BOOT OUT OF TWRP RIGHT NOW.
Installing Cyanogenmod 13:
Of all the ROMs that I have used, I find that CM13 is far better. It's mostly personal preference. If you want to install any other ROM, the process is more or less exactly the same. Follow the instructions below:
Tap on Wipe.
Tap on Advanced Wipe.
Select everything except USB-OTG.
Swipe to Wipe.
Go back to the main TWRP screen.
Tap on Mount.
Tap on Enable MTP.
Connect your phone to your computer via USB.
Copy cm-13.0-20161022-NIGHTLY-gemini.zip and open_gapps-arm64-6.0-micro-20161025.zip from your computer to the Internal Storage folder inside Mi5 in My Computer.
Come back to TWRP.
Tap on Install.
Scroll down and find the cm-13.0-20161022-NIGHTLY-gemini.zip file and tap on it. Installation will start and will take about a minute and a half.
Now come back and flash the open_gapps-arm64-6.0-micro-20161025.zip file. This should be much faster.
Now go back to the Wipe section and select only the Dalvik & cache.
Now press Reboot System.
And that's it. The first boot will take quite some time. You're running Cyanogenmod 13 now!
Optional:
You can also install Falcon Kernel by Harrynowl to get a few more extra features. Install it like you would Cyanogenmod by flashing the .zip.

This is the Official Cyogenmod ROM. So to upate, all you have to do is to go to Settings > About > Cyanogenmod Updates and download the update. After it has finished, you'll see a small button which you can press to install it. The Phone will then handle the flashing!
Aslo, The Rom > GApps > customization > Custom Kernel should be good!

Magisk Root without custom Recovery and without losing Encryption

So, I unlocked my bootloader a couple of days ago, but when I got into the point of flashing TWRP, I realized that there is no custom recovery that supports device encryption.
For that reason I didn't root my phone but there is a way around that.
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
*
*/
1. Download the latest Magisk Manager from here and install it.
2. Download latest ROM from here and depending on your device.
3. Extract boot.img file from the ROM .zip file and copy it to phones internal storage.
4. Open Magisk Manager and go to settings. Select the Beta channel (stable did not work for me).
5. Go to home and select install magisk. Select patch boot image, and select the boot.img that we extracted earlier. Now a new file patched_boot.img will be created. Copy it to your PC.
6. Boot device into fastboot.
7. Execute fastboot flash boot /path/to/patched_boot.img .
8. Reboot device and you are rooted
All credits go to Magisk. I shared this, only because there are no such relevant information in this sub forum
But now we have 10.2.17 and no download link. Tomorrow I can unlock my bootloader. Would it also work, if I download and modify the boot.img from 10.2.15?

I tried with the latest boot.img but no luck. It stuck in fastboot screen so I had to flash the original one! I will give it another try though!
Edit:
Success. I patched the image again and it worked, I do not know what was the problem the first time.
WOUAHOUU ! it work very fine ! I routed my Mi9 (global original stock rom) in 15 seconds without changing recovery and without putting TWRP .. the top !
I wonder why this tutorial is not in the first position of the root procedure.
With this procedure, are the updates always done by OTA or does it need a new way?
up ? because global rom just changed for 10.2.22 with a ota update. How can we do ?
Strange. My global rom is 10.2.9.0
So, this method gives full root acces? Like any other, more complicated, method? Any limitations?
Btw, what cpu governors does the default kernel support? Can they be changed with a Kernel Manager (Adiutor etc) after this root method?
So, full root : I think that yes.. all my apks that require root work perfectly. It 'seems that there is non limitation.
but, I answer my own question: As with a modified recovery, the OTA no longer work either when it's a fix. But OTA work perfectly when it'a a full update.
SO ! This is the link for Global ROM 10.2.22 : https://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.2.22....AGlobal_V10.2.22.0.PFAEUXM_745a374eee_9.0.zip
Tuto to do full update and root :
We launch the update ota normally.
the phone reboots and announces that the update can not be done in this version.
Phone reboots normaly. You restart the OTA update : Phone then launches automatically a FULL update version 10.2.22
On the PC, We download the global rom and extract the boot.img
Then we use magisk to modify boot.img as in post nbr 1 page 1 and use adb for flashing the modified boot.img
Rooted !
No luck with global rom is 10.2.9.0
tried patching multiple times using beta and stable.
roll back to boot.img original.
Hi guys,
just got my brand-new Mi 9 a few days ago and rooting it drives me nuts.
I have rooted many devices but here my problem:
After using TWRP and Magisk, the system fails to boot, always goes into TWRP.
Then I used the method described here, the system fails to boot and goes into MI-Recovery.
When I flash back the original boot.img, the device boots fine.
Can anyone please help?
Thanks
Robert

Always flash ROM and fully boot into ROM first.
Then reboot after setup back in to TWRP and only then flash Magisk.
Flashing ROM + Magisk is fine with AOSP/Lineage etc. but MIUI ROMs always fail to boot if you install Magisk at the same time as an MIUI ROM

Try to use the beta channel of magisk. It will probably do the trick!

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Code:
* Your warranty is now void.
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or your getting fired because the alarm app failed.
* Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this Recovery
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications
* If you point the finger at me for messing your device. i will laugh at you
Special Notes:*
1. DON'T FORGET TO ENABLE "OEM UNLOCK" (located in Developers options).
2. KNOX will be tripped once you flashed custom binaries to your phone.*
(Your warranty may be voided. However this may not affect you if your country forces Samsung to provide hardware warranty regardless of software status.)
3. Samsung Firmware OTA (aka System Updates) will no longer work once you flashed custom binaries.
(You can flash custom ROMs if you want to keep the OS up-to-date.)
4. All apps that use KNOX like Samsung pay, Secure Folder and maybe more will no more work.

Quick Root and TWRP.
A quick method is found here.https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a20/how-to/guide-quick-root-twrp-galaxy-a20-t4069423
Make sure you backup boot, data & system (not system image) before you go on to install GSIs
This TWRP was originally designed for Android 9 but works perfectly with Android 10.
It also comes with MTP built-in.

I disabled the bootloader and AVB. I installed TWRP with the Odin program. Although PASS appears, the stock recovery menu appears instead of the TWRP menu. What is the reason for this?

If you can unlock bootloader why not, but device is lunched with march security update and my unlock service most likely wont work.

If I can unlock the bootloader by going into the developer options and turn on the "oem unlocking" option and then go to the download mode and hold down power+Vol down for 2 secs to enable the unlock option like I have read in the tutorials, that would be swell. I recently returned an sm-a025v verizon variant to Walmart that didn't have that option due to verizon locking the bootloader.
When you mention unlock service, what do you mean and what part of the tutorial do we do that?

Unfortunately it's a US model as afaneh92 said. I returned it and got me a Motorola Moto G power 2021 instead that does have an unlockable bootloader. I wanted to get the models named in this tutorial or an international variant, but there are none that I could find that support CDMA networks like Verizon, which I'm using.

Currently we can unlock any US device with February security update or older, your device shipped with march security update.

Yes, read OP next time.
I managed to root my galaxy A02S . To my surprise, once everything was set up, I didn't have to do anything to pass on SafetyNet. Why ?
Another question is , if I want to go back to stock , would the steps I have to follow be these ?
1) Uninstall Magisk from the app?
2)Then enter Download mode and flash a stock rom ?
Or am I mistaken?
thanks

solved
