[GUIDE](sort of foolproof) to backing up and restoring your Mi9SE - Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Guides, News, & Discussion

Backup:
Step 0 It is supposed that you have already installed latest TWRP (https://github.com/redispade/device_xiaomi_grus-twrp/releases)
Step 1 Remove any pin/password/pattern on your existing rom
Step 2 Reboot to recovery and check the log on the 3 lines menu. It should say successfully decrypted data using default password/pattern
Step 3 Backup all partitions (Possibly in USB-OTG, so you can include Internal Storage in the backup)
Step 4 Save a second copy of your backup in your computer, in case the worst happen to your USB-OTG
Done backing up
Do whatever experiments you plan to do with your phone, roms, vendors gsi, IOS(just kidding)
Restore:
Step 1 Check if your adb/fastboot installation is the latest and correctly installed. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790)
Step 2 If you really messed up with your phone, start by clean flashing your official stable rom(fastboot type)
Step 3 When fastboot flash finishes, keep pressing vol down while your phone reboots, so that you reboot again in fastboot mode. Don't boot the stock rom.
Step 4 Once back in fastboot, flash TWRP from fastboot, followed by vbmeta.img (see manual in #vbmeta note)
Step 5 Boot into twrp by keeping pressed volume+ and power button. Release power button once Mi logo appears but keep Volume+ until TWRP boots.
Step 6 Grab your USB-OTG and restore the following partitions: boot, system, vendor.
Step 6a (Optional) Remove your sim card, so that the next step is faster to execute
Step 7 Reboot into system, let it finish first boot, do the initial configuration(you can skip wifi, sim card and all options that is possible skipping)
Step 8 During first boot, you will be asked to set up a pin/password or pattern. Finish setting it up(fingerprints optional, not needed)
Step 9 Go into security settings of the new system, and remove the password/pin/pattern
Step 10 Reboot into TWRP by keeping volume+ pressed while you reboot your phone
Step 11 Check TWRP log on the 3 lines menu. It should say successfully decrypted data using default password/pattern
Step 12 Restore Data partition(and only that)
Step 13 Reboot back into TWRP without rebooting to system
Step 14 Restore Internal Storage(if you backed it up)
Step 15 Reboot into your old system and enjoy
Disclaimer: You have to follow this guide to the letter, if you care about your data.
I can't be held responsible if anything goes wrong for whatever reason
I will provide help if I can, but don't take it for granted

Excellent guide. Can you expand info on Vmeta?

Command:
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img

don't you have a dedicated thread for your twrp? seems the most updated version around...
ot, why there is no more official twrp for latest devices?

[SOLVED] Bricked + Formated my Honor 7. Need a ROM

Hey guys,
I've had a total of 4 android smartphones during the last years, and I did root all of them and even install diferent ROM's, but on this phone (Honor 7) was kinda diferent.
The root process is way more complex than all the other androids I did root (simply flash a .zip file...) so I've been post-poning this task over and over..
Finally yesterday I gained courage to try out rooting my phone, and while attempting to root my Honor 7, after flashing SuperSU from TWRP, my phone no longer booted.
Stressed as I was, I just told to myself "f*ck it" and formatted the system and I didn't care much if there was a fix without needing to format the system. (but then I realised that I could not find any .img ROM files to flash from TWRP recovery, so basically I did my actions wrong once again)
I followed the tutorial from guidebeats.com which talks about rooting EMUI 4.0 Android 6.0 (I cant post links)
Basically this is the story:
While unlocking the bootloader, even though, the tutorial said the phone would reboot itself after typing "flashboot oem unlock 1234934829" I did a hard reboot (or reset?) holding (VOL+) + Power button and I have the feeling that the bootloader unlock was not 100% done, even if it said it was unlocked. (Phone was working perfectly fine there)
Then I flashed SuperSU, and I could no longer boot. After powering up my phone, after the first splashscreen, the screen would only turn black.
What (I think) I need to now is remove the TWRP recovery, and use the stock one and attempt to install an "update" using (Vol+) + (Vol-) + Power. (please correct me if I'm wrong)
But now there's some issues I got that I'd like some help with:
1- How can I get back to the stock recovery? (NOTE: I currently got no OS installed on my Honor 7, since I formated it)
2- Will I need to lock and unlock my bootloader again (if I want to 'fix' the bootloader unlock?)
3- Where can I get official Honor 7 stock ROM? (would be awesome if there was already the Android 6 stock rom for a clean install)
4- What are the steps on this tool (Honor 7 Multi-Tool) to root my phone?
I need my Honor 7 asap
Sorry for the long post, It's my first time doing a more advanced root and I have all these questions.
Thank you very much for any kind help!

As you are already familiar with adb and other stuff so will write a short post for you.
To download latest firmware, head to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...tock-firmware-packages-honor-7-t3448747/page1
Google, download and install Huawei update extractor and open UPDATE.APP in it (obtained after extracting firmware).
You can see all the images. Just extract recovery and boot to platform-tools folder.
Meantime, do the unlocking command again, with
Fastboot OEM unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Followed by fastboot reboot
And press and hold the vol down button again until you reboot in bootloader.
Flash the recovery and boot you extracted using
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
(I got a habit of extracting and flashing system and Cust using
Fastboot flash system system.img
Fastboot flash Cust Cust.img
But they are not necessary)
Now you are set to try a 3 button update (sometimes it gets stuck so if it's stuck for 15 minutes, try 3 button again).
Please do report back if it comes to life.
To root, just flash twrp and then use SuperSU 2.62 (no other version) and update it later using play store.

Hey!
Thank you alot for your reply.
From the link you sent about the firmwares, there are alot of Builds for the L01 (EU) model. Can I simply use the latest from the list or I gotta install 1 by 1 (from older to newer)?
Also, the bootloader unlock thing, is it ok if I wait to do it until I install the stock ROM again? Because I think I don't have the code anymore (Also don't know about IMEI)
Other thing, yesterday before bricking my phone, I tried to re-unlock the bootloader as you said above, but it didnt let me because "it was already unlocked".
I really have no idea if it's 100% unlocked or not.
important thing!
With those ROM's, I still have the right to receive official OTA updates from the HiCare app right?
Thank you again

Just use B380 as it's the latest full firmware available there.
Unlocking bootloader again was just a precautionary measure (proceed without it and if it is not 100% unlocked and if something goes wrong, we can troubleshoot later, which imo, won't happen)
And yep, if you keep the firmware as it is, but if you flash twrp and root, you will still see the update available in Hicare but will have to install stock recovery again before upgrading. (Nothing else is needed as SuperSU 2.62 gives a systemless root so you only need to flash back stock recovery for an update)
I am not against honor-tool bit it's best to do things manually as it makes you learn stuff and is easy to troubleshoot if something is amiss.

Alright, btw, about the thing you said
"Now you are set to try a 3 button update (sometimes it gets stuck so if it's stuck for 15 minutes, try 3 button again)."
I gotta do that myself with an "update.app" file or what?
Sorry, I missed that part

You have to make a dload folder in SD card and copy UPDATE.APP to that folder.
Then just turn off the phone, press and hold power + vol up + vol down until phone boots.
Let go of power but keep others two pressed for 5, 6 sec more. Your phone will boot into recovery and start installing UPDATE.APP
It likes to get stuck at 5% (most reports) but sometimes, somewhere else. If its stuck for 15 minutes on a particular percentage, just press and hold the above three buttons again using the same process.
Multiple tries make it work...

Good news, my phone is alive and root is done.
The problem was on the SuperSU that I flashed, it was version 2.71, instead of the one you said » version 2.62 «
I cant thank you enough!! Can I pay you a coffee?

That's great... Enjoy your phone and as for coffee, well, let's say, you owe me one and we will leave it at that
Better yet, you can search DigiGoon and pay him for the coffee, he taught me what I told you.

Hello
How did you format your phone?
I'm still struggling with going back to Android 5 and EMUI 3.1 since there is no rollback file available. (PLK-AL10, B396) Maybe formatting and installing the old rom could be a solution, like in your case?

Hello.
Do you have unlocked bootloader and TWRP recovery? You can format your phone from TWRP recovery.
I think the only option for you is to get the old ROM img and flash it (starting from 0)
You can dirty-flash (Flash a different ROM with same android version as yours, e.g: flashing custom android 5 ROM over your stock android 5 ROM without factory resetting your phone) but I dont think you can do that from Android 6 to 5.

Yes I have unlocked bootloader and currently not twrp but I can flash it at any time.
The last two paragraphs you wrote are different solutions or the last one is a more detailed explanation of the previous?
I have android 6 so the later method won't work as you said.
But formatting it and flashing a stock android 5 rom - is it that simple? Nobody here suggested this before, however I have been asking for months.
All the phones are empty when they leave the assembly line.
How did you flash the new rom to your formatted phone? Extracted update.app and flashed each file with fastboot? Any issues you faced?

From my last 2 paragraphs, the first was a solution, the second was an impossible alternative that I thought it would work.
My issue was that I had a custom recovery but I had no ROM installed, so I had to install the stock recovery and boot (extracting from update.app) and flashing it via fastboot, to afterwards force the update with 3-button method.
-----
What you'll need to do is:
- Flash TWRP
- Wype system, data, cache.. (so that you completely delete your current ROM)
- Extract recovery.img and boot.img from an update.app of an Android 5 ROM you'd like to have (Official ROM for your device model)
- Flash them via fastboot (You'll go back to stock recovery again)
- Shutdown your device
- Create a folder named "dload" on your sdcard and put UPDATE.APP file in it.
- Reboot
- Do the 3-Button update ([Vol+] + [Vol-] + Power)
- If it works, it will auto install
(- If it gets stuck on 5% for over 5/10min, force reboot pressing [Vol+] + Power) and try again the installation
- After installing it will boot normally (first boot takes a while)
NOTE: I'd recommend creading the dload folder before wiping the ROM, because usb didnt work for me afterwards. (It would still work if I was on recovery tho)
>> Remember to make a full system backup before wiping aswell, dont be stupid like me xD (thats why I had to full wipe my system after soft-brick)
Im answering based on what I did and was explained here to me

Hi again,
I'm doing this OS installation now. It starts fine but stucks at 90%, (I'm trying to install the latest stock ROM which can be downloaded from Huawei site, B220 or221). Did you have the same issue? I waited more than half an hour at 90% but did not go on.

Maybe formatting, Flash stock Android 5 recovery using Honor multitool , and then Flash a Android 5 firmware
Not sure it Will Work without rollback..
Finally, after 2 months of struggling I managed to get back to Android 5 and EMUI 3.1 without a rollback file.
Here is what I did:
0. Download a full ROM you want to install
1. Backup of the current system with Hisuite (everything. Apps, media, contacts, call log, etc.)
2. Flash TWRP recovery with fastboot (start phone in fastboot mode)
3. Wipe (and format!) everything you can with TWRP
4. Extract boot.img and recovery.img from update.app of the new ROM with Huawei Update Extractor
5. Flash boot.img and recovery.img with fastboot.
6. Copy update app to dload folder on SD card, insert into the phone.
7. Restart phone with [VOL+] + [VOL-] + [Power] buttons to force update.
8. The system will be installed from SD card. I had no issues with the installation. First I did not format the phone (just wiped) and it did not work.
9. Restore data from backup.
The only strange thing is that the native app icons look different than my previous lollipop system. Don't know why. They are less colorful. I installed C00B220 for PLK-AL10.

Yes it does. (It did for me.) Technically this is not a rollback but installing a brand new system on an empty phone. That's why it is important to do a backup upfront.

[MOD] Decrypt /data for emui 8

Needed:
Unlocked Honor7x on emui 8 and twrp
I have tested this and found it working.
All you need to do is copy data/hw_init to your external sd
Then format data in twrp and flash the zip attached to this thread
Reboot
If it boots to system, then it's done
If it boots to erecovery and asks you to wipe data, then wipe data and boot to twrp
Make a data backup, format data, restore the back up you just made
Copy back hw_init from external sd to data
Reboot
Your device will be decrypted
more detailed instructions will follow

I did similar. I made almost same edits to fstab file in boot.img( removed verity, and "filencrypt") flashed modded boot.img and formatted /data. Phone boots normal, and twrp has full access to /data. But a side effect is developer options menu force closes when try to open it. Do you know why?

this is for emui 5 , android 7
It gave the trouble of crashing the settings app. so I did not continue using it.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
copy the folder "/data/hw_init" before continuing.
Better way to apply this , instead of formatting in twrp, just factory reset in stock recovery. This way you do not wipe out the hw_init folder.
once done factory reset in stock recovery, plug in usb cable and select reboot from recovery screen. then hold volume down. Thais will reboot to fastboot.
Then "fastboot flash boot boot-decrypt.img"

sorry I realized my mistake and edited my post, I was looking for an emui 8 solution, I'll keep trying unless you have an edited ramdisk or kernel img, not sure which one does force encrypt. Edit: Honestly I'm not on EMUI 8 currently, I am in the process of flashing gsi treble and wanted to decrpyt while my data was wiped.
EDIT: Got it, fastboot -w and factory reset in stock recovery did the trick along with flashing the included zip file

Edit: Honestly I'm not on EMUI 8 currently, I am in the process of flashing gsi treble and wanted to decrpyt while my data was wiped.
EDIT: Got it, fastboot -w and factory reset in stock recovery did the trick along with flashing the included zip file

[GUIDE] How to flash TWRP on the Xperia 5 II

PLEASE NOTE I HAVE ONLY TESTED THIS ON MY PERSONAL DEVICE RUNNING BUILD 58.0.A.10.3 WITH DATA ENCRYPTED. NEWER FIRMWARE VERSIONS HAVE ISSUES THAT I CANNOT PRESENTLY FIX, THAT IS UP TO THE TWRP DEVELOPER.
This requires you to have adb installed on your computer, magisk needs to be installed, and your bootloader needs to be unlocked.
Use this guide for bootloader unlocking and Magisk installation
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-5-ii/how-to/guide-magisk-twrp-recovery-t4177209
Step 1. Download the twrp.img linked in this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=4185891
Step 2. Place that .img wherever your adb is installed on your pc.
Step 3. Reboot your device to fastboot by any means. Either use
Code:
adb reboot fastboot
when your device is plugged in, or boot your device while holding volume up.
Steps 4 - 8 are optional, as they make a TWRP backup of your stock recovery. I did this just to be safe because this TWRP isn't perfectly stable yet. It does work fine so far but its just a precaution.
Step 4.
Code:
fastboot flash boot_a Twrp-Xperia5II.img
Code:
fastboot flash boot_b Twrp-Xperia5II.img
Step 5.
Code:
fastboot reboot
Step 6. TWRP should boot now. Once in TWRP, be sure to change your language, it should be Chinese by default.
Step 7. Mount all partitions, except op2 and USB. Then create a backup of at least your recovery partition, although you can do all partitions if you would like. The backup will take a couple minutes, but let it runs its course.
Step 8. Reboot back to fastboot, either via TWRP or power button methods.
IF YOU MADE A RECOVERY BACKUP LOOK BELOW STEP 11 FIRST
Step 9.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery Twrp-Xperia5II.img
Step 10.
Code:
fastboot reboot recovery
Step 11. TWRP should now be booted from the recovery partition. You can verify by trying to reboot to system like normal. The easiest way to test once booted to system is to reboot to recovery in Magisk manager. If TWRP boots you are done.
THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE ONLY NECESSARY IF YOU MADE A RECOVERY BACKUP IN STEPS 4 - 8
Immediately after Step 8 do the following, you will need your patched magisk .img file from the magisk guide I linked above.
Step 1.
Code:
fastboot flash boot_a [your patched magisk img]
Step 2.
Code:
fastboot flash boot_b [your patched magisk img]
Step 3.
Code:
fastboot reboot
Step 4. Go back to step 9 above.
Your system should now boot like normal again, but TWRP should be flashed to recovery. Test by following the steps listed in Step 11 above. Please reply with an questions or issues.
I will attach screenshots of what you should see in some of the steps in the second post.
Special thanks to Miustone and M-Rom for the Magisk guide and TWRP respectively.

/data/media/0 is encrypted?
Thank you very much for this guide and the TWRP image file.
I have tried creating the backup of recovery per your instructions but it seems my /data/media/0 is encrypted so I can't create the TWRP backup folder. How do you remove this to create the recovery backup?
Thanks!

You can wipe everything on the wipe menu, which will decrypt internal storage. This is a factory reset also so you will lose everything! I tried it in hope that I will at least be able to use twrp for future backups and zip flashing, but after rebooting the storage becomes encrypted again.
TWRP on the 5 ii is useless right now imo, you cant backup/restore or even flash anything with encrypted internal storage and no access to sdcard or usb OTG.
why does this need magisk to be installed?

Did you make sure to allow system modifications when you first booted TWRP, because that is very important. I am running an encrypted internal storage myself and it works fine for backups and flashing.

I have been able to run TWRP backups and restore fine on my device, even with encrypted storage. Please make sure you allowed system modification when you booted TWRP, as that is very important. As for SD card and OTG, I cannot help there. I am not the person who ported TWRP, I simply made the guide using the steps I did to make it work.

It isn't really necessary, but it makes troubleshooting easier so I recommend it. You can do the same steps I listed but substitute your stock boot .img for the magisk .img steps and it should still work. I can't say for certain, as this guide is simply based on the steps I took to make TWRP work for me.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't given the option to allow system modifications. I've reflashed multiple times and not once does the option come up. I also notice that when I try to mount system then try a backup that the system mount box becomes unchecked.
I have no idea why it would work for you and not for us others. Maybe you used a different twrp build?

I am using the exact same build that M-Rom posted, the one I linked. One thing to try is mounting your partitions manually in the TWRP menu prior to starting a backup. I have those all checked as mounted in my TWRP.

It has come to my attention that users on updated system firmware are encountering decryption issues with the TWRP version listed here, rendering it useless. I am currently running build number 58.0.A.10.3 on my X5II, however flyl0 has brought it to my attention that other build versions could be proving to be the issue.
Please note that this guide is entirely based on the steps I took to do this on my own device, which currently isn't updated to the latest version of stock firmware. I will add a note in the OP as well. Sorry for any confusion.

Then I am doing something wrong in my root/twrp process. I am not able to edit (R/W) the system partition anyway after installing magisk, but I think that's expected. When you are just running android, are you able to edit the system? With root explorer for example? Or does it show that the partition is full?

XQ-AS72(Hongkong or Tiwan model) is 58.0.A.10.3, I flash that, and I can use TWRP and also able to make backup.
But flash for XQ-AS52 ones (such as for EUver), I cant use TWRP(boot is OK, but cant make backup).

[GUIDE] Downgrade from MIUI Android 11 Beta Stable to Android 10 Stable using flashable firmware

This might help you after realizing that you want to install custom ROM again after upgrading to android 11 MIUI but you cannot install android 10 or 11 based ROM and stuck with either boot loop or android rescue party.
WARNING: This might wipe every writable partition. Charge your phone at least 20% or more to prevent from destroying these partitions.
Instructions:
1. Download firmware from here
2. Download full ROM (either recovery or fastboot) from here
3. Save the firmware zip file it in either internal storage or sdcard. Reboot to TWRP afterwards
4. Tap install and find the zip file in your storage and install. Wait for a couple of seconds to get done.
To install full ROM
Recovery
1. After installing firmware from recovery mode, don't reboot. If you reboot the system it will fail to boot. Boot to fastboot if you fail this step and flash a recovery image. Proceed with next step.
2. Install full ROM flashable zip from sdcard or internal storage.
3. Format /data. Reboot.
Using fastboot
1. Boot from fastboot mode
2. Extract full ROM fastboot zip file.
3. Open miflash and locate the fastboot folder.
4. Choose flash_all. Click start.
5. The phone reboots itself. Boot to recovery mode and wipe data.
All done. The phone is now downgraded from android 11 back to android 10.
Note: I got 2 anti triggered when attempting to downgrade the phone using recovery and fastboot without installing firmware zip file first. RIP me I guess I voided my warranty anyways so doesnt matter as I already applied some insurance for my device.
TL;DR: Installed Recovery will get erased as I mentioned in WARNING. Please don't skip every step.
Edit: since it made confusion, I split steps for recovery and fastboot mode.
Has anyone tried this procedure?
Im on 12.0.6.0(EU). Bootloader locked (wait 3days) so no TWRP. Want downgrade to 12.0.8.0(EU) and flash Pixelexperience ROM.
It will work?

Its not the same. First one is cca. 80MB of size while full rom is 2.4GB for recovery and 4.4GB for fastboot.
I did this method yesterday and its working. No problems whatsoever.
The only thing i would add is you need both versions of rom - recovery and fastboot. Recovery when you flash for the first time in recovery and fastboot when you flash with Mi flash.
And my advice is, android 11 miui is really bad. Its not finished, it stutters a lot, u can't use third party launchers with gesture navigation (at least in my case, Nova lanucher), performance is bad.
Not worth any time.

i only tried recovery method and it works fine after days of trying. 12.0.6 android 11 is still buggy and miui needs to fix it a lot. most of apps are not well optimized for this flavor.
Today unlocked bootloader. Flashing 12.0.8.0 (i have 12.0.6.0 A11).
Everything work perfect. No bootloop, bootloader relock and works fine
People are probaly skipping some steps.
1. Download Firmware small size files
2. Download full Firmware, both - fastboot and recovery (put it on SD card, small and recovery)
3. Install Twrp or Orangefox recovery (download it from somewhere)
4. Enter into recovery and install small firmware FIRST, dont reboot, install big firmware (recovery version) SECOND
5. do not reboot
6. format data
7. Now reboot into fastboot
8. Extract fastboot firmware zip into new folder on desktop
9. Start Mi flash, select that folder where u extracted files and tick "clean only" on the bottom of the Mi flash if u want to leave bootloader unlocked and from drop down menu near that pick "flash_all.bat".
Thats how i did it.

Question about upgrading Pocophone F1

Hello all,
It's a long time that's i haven't post a thread here but i have a question.I have a Poco with MIUI Global 9.6 Stable (9.6.25.0) for ROM with a Android Version 8.1.0 OPM 171019.011 with root acces, unlocking bootloader and TWRP 3.3.0-0 installed.
I would upgrade my phone to something "newer" (A ROM with Android 12 if possible) and conserv the root access and my apps.
I have read that now ,we should have 3 files to do that (firmware, system and vendor) to make a wipe and install new ROM with TWRP.
So my question:
-Is it possible to upgrade Android 8.1.0 to Android 12 witn a new ROM? (i have read something about kernel in Android12 but haven't understand all)
-Have i missed some steps or just download files, boot TWRP,wipe and install newer ROM+firmware and vendor appropriate is good?
-Which ROM do you recommend?
Thanks for the previous answers.

It's not possible to switch from stock ROM to custom without doing clean install. You will have to root again.
First update to latest Official Stock ROM, then take backup of your files to your PC or to SDCard (if you have one) , flash to latest Official TWRP and check my POCO F1 Ultimate Collection & Guides. You can find everything there. I have awarded recommended ROMs in my collection.
Feel free to ask if you have any question regarding the guides.
Thanks for the answer.I have begin to read your guides.
If i understand good,it's not possible to conserv my root, unlock bootloader and twrp when i upgrade to android 12? Automaticaly i should root again my phone and restore with titanium backup my files,contact,....?

First you need to take backup of your files to PC or External SDCard.
Then you should update to latest version of MIUI via OTA if it's possible or via TWRP (you can use the stock recovery rom to do it via twrp). (You can also use my guides for clean install stock rom)
Then you should unlock your bootloader if it's not already unlocked.
Then flash latest Official TWRP.
Then flash latest firmware (not vendor) just to make sure you are on the latest. (You should be on latest firmware after updating to the latest MIUI version)
Then Wipe everything + format data according to my guides and flash the ROM you want. If you choose A12 Pixel Experience or crDroid keep in mind that these ROMs use their own recovery because these are encrypted by default ROMs and TWRP can't handle the decryption of A12 encrypted ROMs yet. So to make OTA updates and that stuff work correctly devs of these ROMs decide to use their own recovery which can handle the decryption of encrypted roms and as result to make OTA update work fine. Check the installation instructions of these roms in their threads. (Afterwards you can use adb sideload to flash stuff using these recoveries)
After that, flash Magisk since you want root.
Then you can restore titanium backup if you want.
OK i follow your instruction.Thanks
Hello retrial,
I have now updating my phone to MIUI Global 12.0.3 Stable with Android Version 10QKQ1.My phone is not yet rooted and now he is encrypted. The recovery is now Mi-Recovery 3.0

I think i should do Fastboot Method because i'm now in Mi-Recovery?i'm right?
No problem with the encryption?
Thanks.

Yes use Fastboot Method to flash TWRP. No problem with encryption.
After that follow my clean install custom rom guide to flash the ROM you want. Also please check the instructions in the threads of ROMs you want to flash. A12 crDroid and PE use their own recoveries.
Basically tell me which ROM you want to flash to help you exactly with steps.
Hello retrial,
i have a problem to install TWRP-3.6.0-9-0 on my pocophone.Everything working fine but in step 8 of your guide,i can't find my twrp.img that i have copied in 2 different case to test :
8. Boot into Recovery by typing in cmd: fastboot boot <recovery_filename>.img (The file may not be named identically to what stands in this command, so adjust accordingly and write the full path of it, check the example below).
This command will not flash permantly the recovery, it will just temporary boot into it and afterwards you will flash permantly the twrp.img you copied into your Internal Storage or SDcard in recovery partition.
For example: fastboot boot C:\Users\Retrial\Desktop\twrp-3.5.2_9-0-beryllium.img
Have you an idea to why i cannot find my twrp.img in the boot mode?

I have all the steps on my guide. Please read it carefully. It boots back to mi recovery because you haven't flash TWRP yet just booted into. After boot into TWRP u need to flash twrp in recovery section so it will stay after reboot.
Please read the steps.
Download portable Minimal ADB and Fastboot and latest Official TWRP recovery.
Open cmd from minimal adb and fastboot and write:
fastboot boot and the path you have TWRP.
Example:
Code:
fastboot boot C:\Users\Retrial\Desktop\twrp-3.6.0_9-0-beryllium.img
Then proceed with the rest steps in my guide. Connect ur device to pc while u are booted into TWRP and copy TWRP.img to your device. Then in TWRP press Install Image and select the twrp.img u just copied into ur device. Select recovery and done.
I have made a video to show you what happened (sorry for the bad quality and the moove) :
I think a video is easyest to understand my problem. For information my bootloader is unlock and usb debugging ok.

Hmm strange, probably of MIUI. Anyway since you are going to flash custom rom, when u flash twrp in recovery go back and select wipe and wipe everything (read my clean install guide), go back press format data type yes, and then reboot to TWRP.
EDIT: I just saw u rebooted to system. That's not what we want. Press reboot to recovery.
i reboot first to bootloader after have flash the twrp.img in recovery. That's only the second time that i reboot to system to use the normal mode of the phone and reboot after to recovery mode to show you that mi recovery is back.

The TWRP flashed correctly. You overlap it again by pressing reboot to recovery from MIUI updater.
Don't do that...do the combination to boot to TWRP after flashing it. Power+Volume Up.
And continue with clean install steps in my guide to flash custom rom.
In my guide I write nowhere to boot to MIUI and press from MIUI Updater reboot to recovery, please stick to my guide and you will be fine.
