Ideas for Air Gestures? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi Guys! Dev here, got some ideas for air gestures to integrate with different Apps, was just wondering if community has got some really cool compelling idea to implement.

I dunno how feasible it would be, but like... drawing a big 'G' to open the Google assistant would be pretty cool, or maybe '>' and '<' for music controls as well. I don't think it's gonna drastically overhaul how I use my phone... but it'd be fun to pull out and show off to people

alohomora would be impressive otherwise hooking it with Tasker maybe

Nice 1 downloadin as we speak ....
Thanx alot
Going give it a try.. looks good [email protected]!
Looking for this a long time !!!
Please continue "New" is not possible
Sweet!
I spent hours looking for something like this the last two days, and here it is!
Nice
I find it useful, but there's a bug i've found so far.....i couldn't get the function "New" working....
Anyway, it's a good and nice application, hope there's a significant improvement
thank you
Very good idea, keep developing it! You could have a big hit on your hands!
Downloading to test right now.
Question/Suggestion:
Is it possible to make the gestures configurable?

It's not a bug. It is not implemented yet. Therefore this feature is on the ToDo list at the moment. Will come with next release.

Hi there!
What about a monthly overview for the Todayscreen? Ever thought about that?
We got that issue "somewhere else"
CU,
Kaffee
At last
looks very promising , it's an app that is missing so props to you my friend just keep up the good work!
It is support VGA resolution too!!!
OMG!!! as I see it runs pretty well in my VGA screen!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much for this project.
Keep up the good work!!!
Finally someone is working on such a project
Keep it up!!
Looks very cool, I will keep an eye on this app, I see great potential.
Keep up the good work.
Actually, in all fairness, there was such a project a few months back called OtO (One Touch Organizer), but I believe that the developer ran into some personal issues and had to stop development (temporarily). Do a search, his last revision was 0.5b (I think). The program is really good, and it actually replaces "Tasks" as well.
I will download this one later since it looks rather promising. Maybe it could be turned into a Today Plugin so that we can use it with UL. I have been thinking lately that it would be nice to have a Touch/slide-your-finger type calendar as a Today Plugin... maybe some of you could turn my idea into a reality
This looks awesome!
@egzthunder: Use a program called Calendar+ to put your calendar on UL!
looks great!! Would you consider the scroll wheel input for appointments date/time when you have created it. Like iphone input. Not because I am an Iphone lover. It just seems to be a really simple way to input data.
Thanks

Extreme True Multitasking On The Note (Heads up from N7000 forum)

Hi all,
I've already posted this in the N7000 forum and I guess most of you are new here so I don't want you guys to miss out on this really cool find.
Since the note has such a big screen why not push the boundaries and try out some try desktop-style multitasking
Check out the video to see what it's all about.

Of course, it's android gingerbread. If you're referring to the 3D UI, I have a galaxy note tutorial on my channel here:

Hey I just want to say thanks for sharing this with us! It is very nice to have someone from the International Note forum share the true awesomeness of our devices! Much better than just "oh I forgot this is AT&T note, your device is crap"
coldfustion has the best vid's. tx for sharing it! i ASSume our snapdragon processor can do the same thing, maybe with a touch of lag, maybe not.
i was at a family dinner Friday and i can never think how to show off the phone as everyone is asking me about it. his vid's always give me new ideas
Halleluja! I've been asking for something like this for months. See my split screen/multiview thread in the N7000's theme/app forum. Now please add a couple features:
1. "Snap" like Windows 7 Ultimate has, but slightly different. Make it so that when you drag the app's title bar to a side, it snaps to fully fill the screen halfway on that side. Dragging to a corner makes the window snap to fully fill that 1/4 of the screen. If you have the screen filled with 2 windows (or 3 or 4), make it so you can drag the border between windows and they'll automatically resize at the same time to maintain the screen filled.
2. Have the notification bar pull down over all windows.
If you add these features and make it work, I'll buy a copy for $50.
P.S. Why in the world, if the Note's capable of running all of that at the same time, did Samsung feel the need for such aggressive RAM management that I can't currently switch from my browser window to email, one other app, then back to the browser without my entire browsing session being closed down!?
oh, didnt know this was a promotion for a bunch of PAID apps
thanks anyway

some ppl just expect things for free most of us are appreciative Jim.
Just bought the browser version. For $1.50, why not?
Honestly I can't see myself using this on my note even though we have the biggest screen size of any phones. I can see this being useful for tablets or for showing off to my iphone buddies!

Jim, apparently that will not work for us with the AT&T Gnote. so nobody should go buy those apps just yet

Jim, could you work on seeing if we can get something like your 3D UI for our AT&T version
I just downloaded both, kept the broweser, returned the video player --- my keyboard doesnt work when the video player is up

I didn't think it read like an ad. Then I saw both were paid apps and read it again.
That said, for $1.49, I figured, why not?
Both work great on my I717. Stock ROM, not rooted, running ADW Launcher EX, and using hacker's keyboard. I was able to run two 1080p videos at the same time with the video program, and was able to run 3 you tube videos on the browser. No problems with keyboard. The only problem with lag is it seems as I run more and more videos the sound and video gets a bit out of sync.
Thanks for the link. I like the browser because I am often copy/clipping stuff, or re-keying stuff from the browser window to somewhere else and that makes it much easier. I don't know that I'll use the video thing much, but its neat to show off, as others have said.
Wow, thanks for the information, especially about the 3D UI. It led me to discover many cool apps that I didn't know about before. I really like the Windows-like Contact app and Alternative App Drawer apps especially. Thanks again!

The video app will come in handy for my use case. I like to use the Google Navigation while driving but also want to hear my language training video at the same time. Before there was no way to run my video app while running the navi app at the same time. Now I do! Thanks.
That is a great app and it shows what the future will be for smart phones. Big screens that are used in a Landscape mode for most functions. The only need for portrait is to hold it up to your ear to make a call.
People are making a lot less calls.

This is true, you can expand your phone as far as you want. I mean if you used a bluetooth keyboard and hooked this up to a TV.. I might just try that

No worries, I guess I still have some 3D UI spreading to do on other forums, it seems as if people have the mindset that the manufacturer UI is what your stuck with. eg, Once touch wiz, always touch wiz

this browser is amazing for the note

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myboyfriendisageek.airbrowser
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm looking for an alternative to the stock one. Why do you like it so much? And did you try chrome, firefox or any the other browsers out there?
+1 I use this browser for its floating capability. It works great in that respect.
Does anyone know if there are any other apps like this? It would be nice to maybe be able to do this with any app.

I hit thanks by accident lol. The developer who makes this browser also makes Stick it! the floating video player, a floating calculator, and floating terminal emulator. The maker of A.I. Type keyboard make a floating split keyboard (useful on the Note when using tablet mode). Those are the floating apps I know about.
As far as any app having the ability to float, there is a thing called Cornerstone that allows for floating windows with up to three apps at once. I believe it's being used on tablets and I heard it may be implemented into CyanogenMod but I don't know much about that. Here's a link:

Wow, nice find. It has a great interface. I LIKE!
The floating Window really does make multitasking seamless. The only sticking point I have encountered is os related. The excruciatingly slow upgrade schedule imposed by at&t/Samsung means a large base of gnotes users are still on the "offical" bloated gingerbread rom.
If you want flash support on this browser, then you will have another reason to upgrade to ics.
Just what do you think you're doing, Dave? Dave, I really think I'm entitled to an answer to that question.
this and stick it are sick! Good to show off the multi tasking our phones are capable of and to use up all this screen!

Beginner looking for android app project to join.

I am an aspiring android developer trying to teach myself the language. I would like to find a project, maybe open source, that I can get involved in as a real world experience with android programming.
I am wondering if there are people here that are either working on, or who could recommend, a project that I could join? I think that working on a modern app would be a great way for me to continue my learning. I have been working with books, but I worry that the information might not be completely up to date.
I am excited to get involved with real world app programming. I hope to be helpful to any project that I join Thanks to everyone in advance!
Hi MastrFett,
It is great to see how exiciting a person could be when learning. I do not have a project but I recommend you to do one for your own.
When doing something that you are going to release you do the best of yourself and you learn much more. Facing real problems is very exciting. There are lot of things that a book wouldn't explain you; you will discover them when you know that not only you is going to use your app.
Try something and upload it on Google Play. Don't get bored reading questions/answers on StackOverflow -it will be your best friend -
Patedit,
Thanks. My only problem is I don't feel like I have many good ideas of my own right now. I think the few I have would require algorithms more advanced than my level of skill. I'll have to keep thinking.
I was just hoping to find something that would give me the chance to just jump in head first on a project right away. I do eventually want to do something on my own when I come up with the right idea.
You need a good idea if you want to become rich
If you want to learn, you don't need great ideas I know it could be frustrating at first... Imagine something you need or that will help you in your daily use of your smartphone.
For example, yesterday I made for me a widget in which I could see the next alarm time. With pressing on the widget, the Alarm Clock app is launched. That could sound 'easy' but it took me several hours. I did it because I wanted a nice widget to do so and a shortcut to the Alarm Clock app which I didn't have.
Good luck!
There is an app idea I had, but I found out there are a lot that already do what I want on google play. Should I still make the app for experience? I don't know if it is worth it if the app already exists.

[Q] AOSP ROMS and the S Pen.

So, I'm absolutely in love with the Beanstalk 4.4.2 ROM for our phone. Problem is, I bought the Note 3 specifically for work because of how easy it is to take notes on the fly. What I'm looking for is a way to integrate Air Command and/or Action Memo into a custom AOSP ROM. Preferably a way to at least have Action Memo pop up when I remove the S Pen.
I've done a little Google searching and I haven't quite found an answer I'm satisfied with. I was hoping the community might be able to offer a solution or at least maybe we can get the ball rolling on a way to integrate this into future ROMs.

GMD launcher launches apps or special functions when removing the spen. But its nowhere near as useful as the set up note 3 touchwiz roms. look up gmd launcher
here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontroldemo
note buddy also works. you can set it to open a particular app once the pen is removed.
