Rooting Methods? - Nokia 7.1 Questions & Answers

Does the Wondershare TuneGo App rooting method listed on here actually work? Because it seems like the only other methods around involve either using KingRoot or unlocking the bootloader, neither of which I want to do if avoidable.

[Terminology] for different root methods

Now we have two distinct root methods for the N1. 1) Unlock the bootloader using fastboot and proceed accordingly. 2) Use the new method described with adb in recovery mode.
Going forward, certain tutorials and methods may only be applicable to one method and not the other, or will provide separate methods for each case. So maybe we need some new terminology.
Original root method using fastboot = "boot-rooted"?
New root method using adb in recovery mode = "rec-rooted"?
Feel free to get more imaginative.
Good idea. But are there any differences between the two methods other than the locked bootloader thing?

Well one thing I notice is that some of the modding threads (e.g. how to restore your Nexus One to stock) contain instructions that involve Fastboot. I'm assuming that if your bootloader is still locked, you won't be using Fastboot to accomplish this step.
I believe you can still use PASSIMGs on a locked bootloader,so some of those guides could still work on a rec-rooted Nexus.
How about fast-root and hacked-root?

Sounds Good...it has my vote
Fast-root works...
Hacked-root I'm not sure about - cause really, both methods are pretty hacktastic
How about true-root and lazy-root?
In any case, functionality of the root access is still the same - the only difference is whether your bootloader is unlocked or not. I don't think two different terminologies are required - a tutorial can just have two sections; one for people having unlocked bootloader, and other for locked.
I dont see why it makes a difference but
oem-root for fastboot oem unlock
and
sd-root for the sdcard loop one (hmm sounds like it could be confused with sd root directory)
or
loop-root

considering that those with unlocked bootloaders can use the same method as those with locked loaders, i think the unroot tut itself should be changed to use the PASSIMG.zip
theres no need to go through all the hassle of doing a nandroid restore imo

[Q] Exploit after rooting

If I root my phone using an exploit like Gingerbreak or rageagainstthecage, am I still vunerable to those exploits?
i.e. if I was to put DroidDream or another similar app which uses root exploit on my phone, would it work.

Every Android phone/tablet Rooting methods are same?

Hi!
Can you please tell me each and every android device rooting methods are same? Are there any app that can use for root any device that have Android ginger-bird or latest version?
thanks!
Not at all there are many different methods for different phones, for example my LG i was able to root with GingerBreak (App) however my HTC I had to first unlock the bootloader then root then install a recovery, still haven't done the S-Off part either so HTC is a little more complex. It all depends on your model there are methods that will work for MOST htc for example or different methods that will work for MOST LG. check the forum for your phone here on xda and there should be a guide

SGP621 Root Question

I am a rookie with these things and I would like to get some clarification.
I want to root my tablet, I am very satisfied with it and its system, all I need is to root it without touching my bootloader and drm keys. There are so many threads about it claiming its possible without unlocking the BL and I am not sure which tutorial should I use to root my device.
My device is LTE version, nothing modified and firmware is 23.0.1.A.0.16.

There is only one method at this time to get root on this tablet and this method involves unlocking your bootloader after doing a backup of you DRM keys (TA partition). Once you rooted your device with the unlocked bootloader you can reflash the TA partition and the bootloader will be locked again with all DRM keys intact as if you never unlocked it in the first place, but with root. Towelroot is not supported as the kernel exploit that was used is patched since nearly half a year now.

Root/boot loader unlock

Wanting to root Alcatel Fierce (model #5049z) and trying to discover whether boot loader is "locked". Read all the posts here concerning this phone and still don't know whether it can be rooted (yet). This is a fairly new phone and information for/about it is sparse. Anyone familiar with this phone and can offer up some vital stats/information or where I might obtain the information? This phone has "unlock boot loader" option, but not sure it works? HELP!!!!!! [Android 7.0]
THANX:
Rick
This does have a oem unlock option yet king root or kingo root doesnt work lol anyways I just picked one of these phones up today and looks like I will have to create my own root and hell mise well get a working twrp in order too. Back to the kitchen!
Just check whether bootloader is unlocked using fastboot.
Use rooting tools after unlocking.
Thats the plan, I planned on creating a way to root then once rooted I can make a full dump if all the partitions of the phone with fire flash then off to deodexing and debloating the system and placing SuperSU in the system so no more issues with root
I will like to know the working method as well i have turned on that option to unlock the bootloader but i have failed to google anything that actually works I have tried iroot, rootme, SRSRoot for Android and none of them was able to root the device
Anything yet?
Has anyone going out anything on this phone. Would like to be able to change a few settings on this phone. Thanks.
