G955U unlocked firmware files or unlock help - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Ok, so I have the s8+ locked to Sprint I want to either see about flashing the unlocked firmware files or find out my options if any. I have the MSL code however, I'm not sure it's used for unlocking this device or not since I know some it doesn't work for.
Phone info
Model# G955U
Baseband/Software version is G955USQS5CSB1
Android version is 8.0.0
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

This is an old enough phone that it should already be paid off.
Call Sprint and they should be able to unlock it for you.

I don't really know the answer to this question because I've never used GSM or had to deal with SIM-related stuff, so this might be a dumb question, but does it just require an unlock code? Is this the same code that you can view in the "About Phone" menu in the options? The one that's called UICC unlock or something? Check out this thread here...
Is it already locked with a PIN right now? I don't even know if locked SIMs persist across factory resets, but if they do I would check online to see if that's all you need, or how it works. Maybe a Google search with something like UICC unlock SIM GSM LG G3 Sprint factory reset, for example. Sorry if I'm already telling you stuff you know.

Will a Rootable Android Phone Remain Rootable After Flashing a New ROM

I searched for this question, and couldn't find one detailing exactly what I intend to be asking. I am going to be getting a Samsung S20+ SM-G9860 so that it would be rootable. However, after I get the phone, I intend to flash the AT&T ROM to it so that I may use my carrier specific features. Will the phone remain rootable after doing this?
AFAIK AT&T will not have ROMs with an unlockable bootloader.

So even if the device itself has an unlockable bootloader, the AT&T ROM will not allow it? If so, then that's very unfortunate.

My previous post was erraneous: sorry for this. :crying:
The correct answer is:
Once a device's boot-loader - it's like the BIOS in the PC - got unlocked you're able to root it. Some manufacturers provide a boot-loader unlock tool for certain models of their phones.
If you are able to modify device's boot-loader - means unlock it, then in turn you are able to load whatever Andoid OS you want (clearly and obviously, as long as it works in that device) and root it.

Is SM-N981U Able to be Rooted?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no but does ANYONE know if I can root my SM-N981U? I did get the recent updates automatically and I'm currently running UI v 3.1, bootloader v 2 and android 11. If its NOT possible does anyone know if anyone's working on it? Any help would be AWESOME!! I also have no idea how to turn the bootloader off if rooting is possible so help there would be nice. Thanks in advance!
Your model number ends with "U" which indicates that it's a U.S. variant
U.S. variants always get their bootloader hard locked and can't be unlocked via regular means. Root requires that you unlock your bootloader.
There was a paid service that offered to unlock U.S. variant bootloader here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/sampwnd-usa-model-bl-unlock-info-u-u1-w.4201689/
But I'd ask first if I was you. Other than that, I don't think you'll be able to root.

Question Unlocked vs T-Mobile version questions.

I currently have both the T-Mobile version and I purchased an unlocked version from BestBuy.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/oneplus-nord-n200-5g-blue-quantum-64gb-unlocked-blue-quantum/6468089.p?skuId=6468089
Are there physical differences to these two phones or are they just running different software?
EDIT I looks like its not possible to unlock the bootloader of the T-Mobile version just yet and I have been doing some searching and it looks like the unlocked version is closer to being unlocked. If anyone can confirm a way to bootloader unlock either I would appreciate it.
My end goal here is to get access to Unlocked/Uncapped tethering without having to use a 3rdparty app or companion app. The ability to flash custom ROMs and root access. But also the ability to flash back to a 100% stock rom.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
EDIT I see now you can get the bootloader unlocked on both version by sending a token to Oneplus and waiting 7 days.

The only physical difference is that the T-Mobile version has the IMEI engraved onto the back of the phone while the unlocked variant does not and the original boxes are slightly different.
Both phones run different software. It is possible to flash the unlocked ROM to the T-Mobile version of the phone after unlocking the bootloader, but that breaks OTA.

You may find this useful with the T-Mobile variant: CLICK HERE
All the info you need to get your bootloader unlocked for the T-Mobile variant.
There's even a single adb command that will ungrey the OEM unlock option in the developer settings without a SIM unlock (you'll still need the unlock token from OP though):
The Quest for a Bootloader Unlock (partial guide, T-Mobile variant, may work for MetroPCS/Metro variant)
OK, this process has been hell, but I'm gonna try and consolidate everything I've worked out so far in one place. This all applies only to the T-Mobile variant (ie. it comes preloaded with all the T-Mobile bloatware) of the N200 on the T-Mobile...

I'm trying to do the same thing with the N200 for a hostpot @xVoidx . I'm curious if you succeeded, and what ROM did you end up using to do it?

Question Finding OEM unlock on Samsung A02s (SM-A025AZ) (Cricket variant)

Is it completely impossible to root the Cricket variant of the A02s (SM-A025AZ)?
What if an unlocked firmware for the A02s was flashed in ODIN?.. seems like alot of work just to find the OEM unlock option, but damn.. I bought this phone after finding "A02s root, twrp and roms" on Google.. but here I am.. changing dates and airplane mode and all this other stuff I'm finding online isn't working. I just need root.. i dont even want ROMs.. just root... any info would be very much appreciated! #justneedroot

PSA: You can't unlock bootloader on U.S. phones. Samsung USA permanently locks their bootloaders. There are only paid services to unlock it.
Yeah trough remote server will be possible?

If I may ask, how are paid services capable of unlocking this kind of bootloaders and not communities at like XDA?

Well, I'm not really sure myself I can only speculate. My best guess is that there's someone working at Samsung or at a Samsung authorized repair center who is providing a "token" that allows bootloader unlocking. These tokens can only be used for 1 device since they require a device unique ID. The tokens aren't solely meant for bootloader unlocking but it's one of the benefits of it. Again, I'm not really sure what's going on here but that's all I can think of.

It's either that or something along those lines, right? Something that boils down to single solution math or similar. Tied to piece of into like " Unique number: H1551583001394079B58"
