How to flash recovery on helio P60 (mt6771) device without pc - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi XDA members!
I found a way to root my device without unlocking my bootloader.
I found a way to unlock my bootloader without wipping my data.
But now I tried to flash a custom TWRP build, but everytime I try I get an error..
Flashify not work with pie
Flashfire don't work with magisk
Flasher's not work with pie too (on new mtk device)..
I found my recovery is in "/dev/block/mmcblk0p2".
I "dd" it into "/sdcard/stockrecovery.img" but my recovery partition is stock (32mb) and the dd file is 23mb so I don't want to flash directly there I case of bootloop.
I received my new computer in around 2 week and I need custom recovery to dev something..
Someone can help me?

[Q] Unlock Bootloader, Custom Recovery and Root

Hey guys,
I am trying to prepare my Nexus 9 to receive root (when that happens) and I was wondering if unlocking the bootloader will suffice for the time being? That means it will wipe it once, and I can start using my Nexus 9 without worrying of wiping it in the future.
Then it means as soon as TWRP comes out with a version that supports Nexus 9 I just need to flash that (no need to wipe device) and then flash SuperSU (no wiping either)
Am I missing something here?
You're right but...
Hey ombadboy
I think this will work. Don't forget to enable the oem unlock in the developer settings before. Otherwise your try to unlock will fail. Maybe you shouldn't flash the first versions of twrp, because this will be the first one for Lollipop und encrypted storage. Just boot the image once and flash superSU. So you will still get OTA updates.
After unlocking you should be able to root without losing your data twice.
After a few time and if there are no more OTAs in the near future you can flash a stable TWRP image.

See the guide here. http://www.theandroidsoul.com/unlock-bootloader-nexus-9/
Thanks for the replied guys. Yes, that's exactly what I did; now I have an unlocked bootloader.
So if I understood this well, can I get root without flashing a custom recovery? If so, what's the purpose of flashing one?

The purpose of having a custom recovery is to flash custom roms.
Here's some info for root

Recovery allows you to flash anything to device without doing manually with root explorer, adb or fastboot. Can do most anything you can do with recovery with these 3 tools.

Root Kenzo with Locked Bootloader MIUI 8 LL

I'm going to be receiving a new RN3 SD in a couple of days. Since I ordered from Banggood I'm expecting to receive it with a spammed ROM and am planning to flash it immediately via EDL with the latest MIUI 8 stable ROM. Since it might take a while to get unlock permission and to make the unlocker work, I'd like to know if the following method will work to root the phone and install Xposed with a locked boot loader:
1. Boot phone into fastboot.
2. Temporarily boot TWRP recovery via fastboot command..
3. Flash Supersu.zip and Xposed with TWRP.
4. Reboot phone normally.
Since Android Lollipop doesn't use a hash of /system to check for tampering, I was hoping tis would work.
Thanks.

You can't flash anything via fastboot on a locked bootloader. Just wait for your permission or you can try Kingsroot for rooting.

Kingroot doesn't work with redmi note 3
( not just kingroot , any root software won't work with Rn3. , only way to root is to flash supersu.zip through recovery after unlocking bootloader )
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk
You can also create account now while you wait for your phone and apply for unlocking feature now
I've done that and when the phone arrived I already had all ready

I want to root my device, I tried various rooting softwares including kingroot but failed in each case. so finally decided to change the stock recovery as it is not allowing me to flash the supersu file. As it is Spreadtrum device SC8830 I tried flashing all the 9 recoveries mentioned here in this thread but none worked!! so I have no hope unless and untill I get specific custom recovery to this device.
Thanks in advance.:good:

Custom recovery for Zuum Sirius (Coppel)

It's a phone sold only in mexico it seems, network unlocked, bootloader unlocked, dual sim. Here are the phone specs:
https://ibb.co/gGOTc5
https://ibb.co/eyCoc5
https://ibb.co/k0E1x5
I want to have root acces and a custom recovery obviously, but there is no official custom recovery (TWRP nor CWM), and, for tools like Easy Magic TWRP Installer to work is neccesary to have root acces. I've tried tools like Kingo Root, but it did't work, and most methods to have root in these cases is to flash supersu.zip through twrp or cwm. I've tried to port a recovery for mt6580 using a method like this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-twrp-3-0-x-mediatek-devices-t3379681 , flashed it but didn't work and stock recovery is still there. I have a stock rom [URL="https://www.needrom.com/download/zuum-sirius-coppel[/URL], and TWRP's official compilation guide says that I need certain BoardConfig.mk file, which I can't find anywhere in the uncompressed stock recovery. Does somebody knows if yuweng's script for compiling twrp with bbqlinux works without root?
Thanks in advance , help of any kind is welcome

Question Unlock Bootloader and root on Poco F4 GT

Hello,
Now I'm going to retire my old F1 and the F4 GT will replace it. The last time I unlock the Bootloader was with my F1 about 4 years ago.
This why I have a few questions:
Is it still possible to receive OTA Updates when the Bootloader is unlocked? I will just use twrp temporarily. In the past it was possible to boot into twrp from the Fastboot with a PC, is this still working? I'll just install magisk with twrp.
Maybe someone can help me, and sorry I didn't find a section for the POCO F4 GT
i think you can flash fastboot rom
Mhhh... But I don't need a rom or a custom ROM.... Just unlocking the bootloader und root...
The question was if I still receive OTA updates when it's unlocked without flashing TWRP...
I think OTA updates are disabled while bootloader is unlocked in official MIUI ROM
You can use the command fastboot boot pathToRecovery.img to boot twrp from fastboot mode
Do you think, or do you know...

I haven't checked myself, I usually don't use stock ROM anymore after unlocking my bootloader

Yes, it's still possible to receive OTA and apply it officially using built-in miui updater app.
Poco F4 GT should already use A/B + dynamics, careful NOT to flash twrp (when it's available). Boot twrp and choose flash current twrp from inside twrp.
You can still flash magisk without twrp (via fastboot), but again as it should be an a/b device, you must extract payload.bin in order to get the boot.img file. Flash vbmeta disable verity first, patch the boot.img with magisk app, then flash the patched boot.img, and you should be rooted. Of course, unlock the bootloader first.
Hey thanks for your detailed explanation!
One short question, what do you mean with A/B + dynamics?
