Note 10 slow charging speed (88 minutes to full charge) - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm disappointed with the slow charging speed of Galaxy Note 10. Even it has much smaller battery than Note 10+ (3500 vs 4300 mAh), it took 88 minutes to fully charge Note 10, vs 65 minutes on Note 10+. And that's with the same 25W charger.
88 minutes is 1,5 hour to fully charge small 3500 mAh battery, this cannot be called "fast charging" in any way..
I saw this info on official Samsung website but cannot find it anymore, it is not widely known, but it is confirmed here for example: https://droidsans.com/galaxy-note-10-note-10-plus-charging-speed-and-time/

it still hasn't come out yet. I'd say to wait until they release updates for the phone and then check to see how the battery is.

I just did the test and it took 88 minutes for my Note 10 to charge. Super weird.... same 25w i will check the plus model. My version is tmobile Snapdragon

HI.
This handset, if it heats much, thermal throttles while charging. Sammy has done this to prevent another Note 7 episode.
So make sure you have a good heat conducting material beneath the phone. (no bed mattress, sheets or carpets or wood).
Try to keep your handset on cold floor tiles or stone, glass with cover off.
That will give you maximum charging speed.
It used to happen to me too. But all corrected now.
Mine go from 0 to 100% in 64 minutes (Note 10 Plus) with 25 watts. Previously it took 90 minutes.

Feedback on Charging Times?

So one thing I I've heard is that the phone can be fully charged in 2 Hours, quite impressive as my S3(2100 mAH) takes 2 hours to fully charge whereas this phone fully charges 4000mAH in 2 hours.
Can the phone charge 0-30% in ten minutes? or something like 0-60% in 30 minutes or something similar?
nope, nothing like that. It does 0-40% in 1 hours, and takes 3 hours total. Its very slow.
My Galaxy Note 4 was really great, with about 90min. from zero to 100% but the Note 3 Pro need about 2h for 75%, the last 25% need about 1h, so 3h for 0 to 100%
I have 1.8A charger.. It was charging fast or 3h?
Here are two interesting user reviews about charging times.

@exonerare I'm also using a S3 now and in thinking to switch to this phone.
But I think the charging times shouldn't really matter because from the XDA threads people are getting 10hours SOT (My S3 only gives 3~4) so i think its quite fair
It's been 2 days I am using redme note 3. Yesterday first time my battery completely got drained so, I plugged in for charging but it took almost 4 hours to charge just 2% and after that I replaced the charger with Motorola one then after 3 hours it was from 3% to 47% and then again I replaced the charger with Xiaomi one only then after 2 hours it was completely charge. So, what should I do guys should I go for replacement. I think something is wrong in battery.
From 10% to 100% about 2h30min with original Xiaomi charger that I got in the box.
Snapdragon version.
Quick Charge 2.0 would be great..

if you have gsm battery app you can see that the phone cannot accept 2.1A,
it's the big cons indeed!
Takes 2h20m from an Anker IQ 2.4A charger (1-100%) With the stock 1A charger it takes 3+ hours.
I just got mine and it charges much faster with a 2 amp charger. I am using a 5 port Aukey with one port that has the Qualcom fast charge 2.0.
I also have a Blu VIVO 5 and the Honor charges just as fast as that with the 2 amp charger. The Blu Vivo 5 includes a 2amp in the box while the honor does not.
On my HTC One and my Sony Xperia Z3 compact, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.ampere reports something in the neighborhood of 1.4-1.7 amperes with a Quick Charge 2.0 charger, and I go from 1% to 60% in about 20-30 minutes as claimed. On my Honor 5X, the highest I see the app report is 850 mA, and it takes about as long as what everyone else is reporting. With a non-Quick Charge charger I get about 550 mA.
Edit: 850 mA is what I often see using one of my chargers. I'm using a different one right now and just now I saw it as high as 1.1 A.
Using an USB multimeter I can see it charge at 1A with my Blitzwolf 5 ports charger.
Honor 5x L22 model take around 3 hours to charge from 0-100%.
Wish they would enable Qualcomm Quick Charge tech for this device since the Chinese market version has it by default. It takes quite a while to charge from 0-100
Good speed with the normal 2 Amp charger. reaches 100% in and around 2hrs
Quite slow
upto the mark
Coming from a fast charging phone, honor 5x is quite slow. But it is OK as i use the phone normally so from 100 to 0 it last easily 2 days.
Sent from my KIW-L21 using XDA-Developers mobile app
yep they should have used some sort of quick charge
0-100% takes 2 and a half hours usually.
2hours with 2A charger
It's still very slow
Plus side is slower charge will keep your battery in better health and longer lifespan . fast charge is real harsh on the battery pack .
I find mine takes almost 3 hrs from about 5% to full when on and 4G running . You can get 60% in an hr or less which not bad .

Enhancing charging speed

Hi..
I just watched a YouTube review about Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime which have nearly the same specs to our beloved Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. The reviewer was suggesting to use 3rd party Quick Charger 3.0 to enhance the charging time from 2 Hours 32 mins (with bundled charger ) to 1 Hour 40 mins (with QC 3.0).
I don't know if that is true or not also if the QC will harm the battery on the long run???!!
what do you think?

Not enabled as of now however , I believe its a feature available on all Snapdragon 625. So it definately work if someone builds it into a custom rom.
PS I dont know why REDMI n4 is missing it. If i plug in my moto turbo charger, it charges at regular rate, however if i use a turbo charger on redmi 3s prime, it charges fast (Rather screen also shows "charging quickly" or something)
OEM charger, charges Redmi Note 4 faster in 2 hours when battery is at 5-10%.
I tested many other chargers of 5V and 2A output but only OEM (came with phone) charges faster..
i still dont get why there's always ppl that wants to charge this device faster. you charge the phone for 2 hours and some minutes to get 10 hours SOT 3 days charge, yet still wants to charge faster.

Quick Charge 3.0 Kernel?

Hi, I'm using the 4x snapdragon, with the final Resurrection rom.
Can someone recommend a good kernel with quick charge and works alongside this rom?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4(X) doenst support Quick Charge!
Snapdragon 625.
I recall that the chip does and xiaomi within the kernel restricted that.

No they did not, it's not kernel related but the charging board and battery that are not compatible.
Thanks for the info.
Why so obsessed to quick charge?
It's not much faster than the regular charge.
Quick charge enabled phone charge the 3000mah battery in 1.5hours... If the battery is larger 4000mah, it will takes approximately 2 hours to charge.
RN4 regular charge is about 2 hours 15mins... Its just 15 minutes longer and if we usually charge it overnight, its nothing difference... you want to take the unknown risk?

Yes!
We do all sort of things with our devices that are outside of "safe use". We overclock and overvolt them, flash stuff that could potentially brick them, etc.
As to why? I wouldn't charge the device from 0-100 with QC enabled but i sure as hell would like to charge it for 5 min and get 20-30%
If QC could be enabled it has to be tested sure, maybe it wouldn't be a good idea with an ambient T of 30C maybe the cut of point would be 60% or 20min. But yes I would like to test it.
Peace

When it comes to play the electricity, the risk isn't your phone brick but bomb...
And it will nowhere near 20-30% in 5 minutes.
LG G5 that have QC 3.0 enabled charge around 10% in 5 minutes. its with 2800mah battery, faster usb-c, etc...
What's the battery charging rate with a stock charger? My stock charger gives 1300mah at 70% and a Blitzwolf QC 3.0 gives 1700mah at 70%.

Well sure it won't be for every one, there is a real risk of the battery catching fire (bomb is a bit hyperbolic) . That's why IF it's possible people willing to take the risk have to test it out. Some might think it's worth the risk though.
My admittedly rusty back of the napkin math says it should be theoreticly possible to get 20% With 20V and 3.6A in less than 7 min.

you are wrong,
RN4 snapdragon need 3 hour 5m for fully charged (10~100%) with 5V2A charger
and the advantage of QC is they charge very fast in 0~70% (about 30min only) then slower until 100% (max 1H 40m total)

Well my sister has a zen 2 too... It's not quick charge..
Quick charge is qualcomm tech, zen 2 have intel on it.
And zen2 just have 3000mah battery on it, mido is 4000mah capacity... It's 25% larger. Its totally different...
Before using mido, I was using mi5s that have QC 3.0, with legit 3.0 charger and usb-c, its no way 60-70% in 30 minutes.
Well I have 2 mido, come with 2 different stock charger. One is RN4 global, with EU plug... Yes it will need about 3 hours to charge. One is RN4x, come with chinese charger. It need 2.5 hours to top... 2 hours will get you from 10 to anywhere between 10-90+%, the last 10% is very slow...
Will provide logs later, because I've fully charged my phone this morning and still have 78% left this afternoon.
I've measured this morning charge... Start from 17% to 90% takes 100 minutes.
Note 4 takes less than 2 hours for full charge 10-100%. Just don't use the phone while charging.

Can anyone who has a Galaxy Note 9 measure it using an USB wattmeter or multimeter?
Does anyone know if the wireless charger that has just been released with the note 9 (the single pad not the duo) charges faster than the convertible wireless charger released with the s8?
I looked up the specs of the Samsung fast wirless charger pads that came out with the S8, S9 and the Note 9 on the FCC, and all 3 have the same power spec, so they probably all charge at the same speed.
The Duo that has just been released can draw more power, probably due to needing to charge 2 devices.

I'd lay odds on the feature being omitted for battery reasons at this stage.

So the Note 8 has faster charging than the 9? My response was getting at that QC has not got faster on the 9 due to Samsung maintaining the 95% promise, it might not be possible under a faster QC....

How do you check battery life?
Not satisfied with battery life and fast charging is a big joke besides my old p20 pro ???
People, don't forget, you're charging a much larger battery. It's not really comparing apples to apples unless the batteries are all 4000mAH. So, if you quick charge your 4000mAH battery, and adds 20% of battery power in 15 minutes, it added 800mAH, while charging a 3000mAH battery for the same amount of time will also add 800mAH of battery life, but will show that it charged 26% of the battery. IT'S THE SAME THING, and it didn't charge it any faster!!! A larger battery is going to take more time to charge than the previous Note 8 battery!
