Amazfit GTR - lift wrist to view duration - Amazfit

Hi guys,
Just received my GTR and so far happy with it.
I have one question, I am using the lift wrist to view functionality but when I use this the watch only stays on for 4 seconds.
I have changed the screen on duration on the watch settings and while this works when pressing the wake button itself it does not make a difference to the lift wrist duration.
Is this normal?
Thanks!

Same here, probably bug.

Thanks!
Thanks for confirming!

I think it is design to prevent false wrist lifting detect.
You touch the screen to wake it when it turn off after that 4 seconds.
But it seems that we only able to touch to wake in this scenario.
I noticed that this watch cannot be wake by touch.
I like Amazfit GTR but so far only 2 major complains.
1. The response is kinda slow when lift wrist to wake it. And if it wont wake, it makes me feel like an idiot looking at an empty screen. lol!
2. The transition at watchface to left or right is laggy (accessing the app menu seems alright though).
and..... Long press to change watchface is laggy too. LOL!

Hi, yep I agree sometimes I do have to try it a couple of times - I have the same feeling too!
I know what you mean about trying to minimize false raises, but I think they should make the time the screen is on, configurable, like you can when pressing the top button.
Haven't really noticed a lag problem, but I tend to load watch faces from the app.

Today I received a new update. It seems this new update fixed above problem. After wrist lift, my screen stays on for the amount of time specified in screen-on duration

@quickfoxz - great news, what version are you on now and where are you based?
I am on 1.3.4.11 and it is saying there are no new updates.
Glad to hear it is fixed though!
Cheers.

Hello,
After the last update (1.3.4.14), I confirm that the wakefulness response time of the screen after wrist lift is much better, and the waking time corresponds to the time chosen in the options.
On the other hand, the lag during the face modification is always present, but it is a detail.

Same here. The response is much better.
Overall performance just got better.

[Q] How to Stop Accidental Cuff calling/txting

Has anyone else experienced this. If my jacket or shirt cuff gets even a little wet it turns the screen on and starts pressing buttons like crazy. I disabled gestures to try to prevent the screen from turning on but no matter what I do the screen will turn on by swiping. A slightly damp or wet cuff, or accidentally sliding across many other surfaces causes the screen to turn on. Is there a way to disable this? I feel like it is a source of annoyance that my screen is always turning on and off all the time unless i'm wearing a shirt that doesn't touch the screen at all. Super annoying.
This is my only major complaint with the watch thus far. Please help!
Thanks!
Jeremy
It's only 1 button, but I turned off motion and the screen only comes on if I press the button or get a notification
I also have had my motions off

Under Settings -> Motions -> I have both Wake-up gestures & Mute/pause off/deselected.
Of note I have the clock always on (Settings -> Style -> Clocks -> Clock always on) so the watch shows a grayed out simple time clock when screen is off. I just checked to see if the watch face will stay off if I turn off the "always on" and this seems to solve the issue.
However, to be honest I really like having the grayed out time showing because honestly it IS a watch and I want to be able to easily glance down and check the time. I still easily get a days battery out of the watch with the clock showing and I get annoyed if I have to "turn my watch on" every time I want to know the time and lets be honest, the motions thing sucks and I just feel like an idiot shaking my wrist around trying to get the clock to show....
Does anyone know of a work around for this?
Jeremy
Only other option is set the security pin

I totally agree! There should be an option to tick under settings to keep the touchscreen inactive while "Screen Always On" is active.
And it is supper annoying!

Double-Tap to Wake Troubles

I'm trying to think of a creative solution to my issues with double-tap to wake. My phone has the tendency to wake up in my pocket and do weird stuff (it once sent a text message full of random gibberish to my dentist.) Even if I set some security to prevent it from going wild in my pocket, it still runs down the battery since the screen is on the whole time.
So, are there any good tricks to make it realize it's in a pocket and calm its tits?

Lift to wake, double tap, and lock security flaky?

Anyone else notice lift to wake sometimes doesn't work? Sometimes it's fine, other times there's a few second delay, other times I can shake the phone after picking it up and nothing then it finally comes on. Googling shows intermittent reports over the last year or two of similar symptoms on the 2 and 2 XL.
Also, double tap sometimes does nothing. Tapping again usually works. Sometimes it works fine several times in a row, then fails again.
Lastly, I have fingerprint lock enabled. If lift to wake works, and double tap gets me to the lock screen sometimes I can swipe up and get the home screen. Other times it forces me to use my fingerprint.
Quite a bit of flakiness in this whole area. Things appear to be working fine once I'm in, but getting there is quite inconsistent.
I did contact support, tried various things they suggested including booting into safe mode, but didn't fix it. They're supposed to get back to me...

Definitely noticed this on my 3XL. It's like it doze's a little too hard or something. Usually doesn't react properly after long periods of inactivity. Same with FP on my P3. But sometimes the FP is fine, like you say it's flaky and inconsistent. Maybe something that will be tuned a little better in an update or with a custom kernel in the not to distant future....

Couple of things.
I ended up disabling FP and then setting it up again and since then the FP detection has been much more consistent. Maybe sometimes the process for the initial FP scan isn't very good and that might cause the security scans after that to be inconsistent. Just a guess. Anyway, resetting it might help.
Also, the comment I made about sometimes I can just swipe on the lock screen and not have to use FP was due to having "Smart Lock" enabled. It's a bit confusing (at least to me) in the Settings screens. Under Security > Advanced > Trusted Agents > Smart Lock can be turned off. I did that and now it always requires my FP.
One more thing. The swipe on the FP scanner to bring down the notification panel is very flaky for me. Works only about 50% of the time at most. Also went over that with support. Waiting for them to get back to me on that one as well.

Most of the stuff you experienced is standard operation for phone's with Double tap to wake, lift to wake, etc. Those features just kinda go to sleep after a while. And yes, smart lock keeps you logged in during certain situations that you specify. Welcome to Team Pixel!
Don't use a lot of those features, but some OT thoughts..
I think there is some FP lag if you have lift-to-check enabled because it's 'lifting-to-check' while i'm hitting the FP. I disabled lift to check and i'll see if the FP's a little snappier.
Always helps to redo the FP after you change a case too- I usually do 2x on each index finger.

Every phone I've had has quirks. It is a bit disappointing a useful feature like lift to wake, especially with no notification LED, has been flaky for so long it's now accepted behavior. I tried a location smart lock feature on my previous Samsung and quickly abandoned it as unreliable as well. What seems odd and a bit confusing is the Smart Lock on/off switch is in a totally different place than where you set up the specific settings, some of which get added by default. Really like the phone, just a bit of acclimation.
Do you have your battery saver on? I found that after I turned off my battery saver it worked

I had battery saver on. I've turned it off for now to see if that helps and how much extra battery gets used. Thanks for the suggestion.
Update: That didn't take long. Lift to wake is still flaky. Works sometimes, other times not.
I've noticed the same. I use smart lock with a Garmin watch. On my Nexus 6 it always worked, and if I didn't have my watch on, when I swiped the screen it would ask for a PIN. Now, I lift or double tap and sometimes it will then let my swipe the screen, but most often I have to hit the power key. This is not an improvement.
Can't believe no one has figured this out. It has to do with the lock to sleep delay. By default it is set to 5 seconds. So, madly tapping won't work. Go into settings and change the timing. Be amazed.

Off screen during workout - T-rex

I trying to find the setting to turn off the screen while on running activity. I notice the screen is light on entire running activity until complete. I had already enable wrist lift option to turn on the screen when i need checking the running stats.
Anyway find the setting to turn it off or perhaps sleep mode. Thank you in advance.
There is no such option in Zepp application. I think there should be though, since having the screen on for ~2 hours is quite battery-consuming.
Yeh, that would be a nice option to have...
Yes hopefully they work on something with to turn off the screen. This version worst i compare to Amazfit Pace which have the easy lock function and the max heart rate alert.
But T-Rex really disappointed despite launched later time compare to Pace. First generation even better and seems T-Rex going backward.

Question phantom/pocket dial with Google 6

Been using my Pixel 6 for my daily driver since I received it after launch. Recently, I have had quite a bit of trouble with the phone screen waking in my pocket and calling random people or 911 (emergency services) or just filling the PIN unlock screen with random numbers. I believe the screen is interacting with the fabric of my clothing. I make sure to power off the screen before I put it in my pocket, and facing the screen outward instead of inward seems to make a bit of a difference. I have scoured the settings and can not find anything. The only other option I see is a full wallet type case that closes over the phone so there is no way anything can interact with the screen. This started happening with alarming frequency in April.
Am I missing something? Any suggestions on how to prevent this? Turning off wake from notifications?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry for not being able to add anything other than I too am experiencing this issue, exactly as described.
I think it could be the double tap to wake I wear jeans and don't have that problem but 8 am using a pixel 6 pro though
Same issue here.
Please use the feedback form in device settings -> about the phone to send the bug report to Google as well.
Thanks!
this never happened to me.
are you using screensaver? AOD? any kind of app which controls the screen on/off?
