Rom for pokemon go - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello i have my lovely good old s3. And i have a question. Somebody can tell me witch ROM can i install to run Pokemon go?
i can downgrade the game graphic and resolution. Jut i have problem with rom.

Hello there, I've just made Pokemon Go run on my S3 with the "[GO]Optimized Lineage 16" ROM.
I know the "GO" doesn't stand for Pokemon Go here but with other LOS16 ROMS I got it to start up but not finish loading the map and crash. This one actually runs the newest version of the app. Poorly, sure, but it's running. ,)

Best Gingerbread rom as of current?

Hey guys,
It's been some time since I have been here, I went out into the void of other phones when T-Mobile gave me a free G2 back in July. Anywho, I am here because I am trying to set my old Optimus T up for my boyfriend as his iPhone just fell out of his car and obliterated... Plus, he wants to give Android a whirl (I am so excited!)
Does anyone know the best gingerbread rom that is currently available, looking for something that can run things like angry birds, fruit ninja, maybe a gba emulator... OH! I also saw that there is FLASH available for this phone now, should I look for a rom with that built-in? Or should I flash it myself?
; Sorry for all of the questions! I really hope I don't seem too crazy. Haha.
There is a poll here. I'm running mik_os' CM7 6.6.1, and I've successfully installed Flash 10.1 with this ROM. You can download the Flash installer here.

Extremely slow operation

Ive noticed this since I upgraded to gingerbread.. phone is now very slow..
when I play music, it plays as something is taking up all the processing power in the background and the music plays as it is buffering, loading and playing..
the games that I download run so slowly that it feels like playing modern games on Pentium 3.
when I press the home button, all programs minimize but the icons on home screen load up one by one.. they are empty boxes and appear one by one.
anyone else have any experience like this?
any help or advice would be appreciated.
I am on stock gingerbread, i do not have any mod roms installed.. My phone has been rooted.
android version - 2.3.3
baseband version 2.1.71
-old question was closed without giving any reason, maybe it was in the wrong section... so trying again
Have you tried restarting?
Perhaps you have too many applications installed on the phone's memory, you should try moving it to the SD card in Settings > Applications > Manage applications.
Hope this is of some help.
I'd suggest rooting and installing a custom rom, it'll fix all of your issues.
I'd suggest TEAM ROM because I'm using it, and it's awesome.
And yes, the last question was in the wrong section.
hi, thanks for the reply.
I am also thinking of reflashing and installing a custom rom, but what always prevented me from doing so were the limitations of it, as every rom had some problem, some did not have working wifi, some did not have working camera.. and so on..
but I was following teh MIUI Rom and that looks promising, I noticed that the xperia x10 is not yet supported: http://miuiandroid.com/roms/miui-development-roms/
but also found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307044
will this custom MIUI Rom work? should I go through with it? (it also mentioned as wifi not working and third party app must be installed to fix it)
Thanks

I'm very happy with Oodie's ROM (MIUI): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295089
Great battery life and very responsive. No lags, everything working. Don't be fooled if the thread seems unactive, it's because everything is working...
Unlocking BL is a one step process in FlashTool. Flashing is a "breeze"
PM me if you need assistance.
Bugsy
thanks for your offer.. i think ill send you a PM as im confused on the first step of unlocking my bootloader =/ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087

What to do

I am running Vegan 5.1 with almost no issues. I want to upgrade to a newer OS but not sure which one I should try. Any suggestions??
My question to you is "Why?". If you're current install on your gTab is stable and it lets you run what you want to run why do you want to "upgrade" to another ROM. If a different ROM will give you something more than what you currently have like maybe let you run a cool video game (Shadowgun) which can't run VEGAn 5.1 then that would be understandable. I was a happy user of VEGAn 5.1.1 for a good part of a year and decided to move to Mountain Laurel 3.1.0 only for the fact that games like Shadowgun will run on it.
So, if that is the case and you feel you will get more out of your gTab by moving to a different ROM then I would suggest you do a full backup via ClockworkMod of your current install so if you choose to revert back to it after you've tried some other ROMs you will be able to do so easily.
Also, it is VERY important for you to figure out what version of the bootloader your gTab is currently running. You can save yourself a lot of wasted time if you figure that out first and then plan your path to a different ROM.
I have some apps that will not run on it. I am not sure if its the OS but I cant even download them from the market. I was hoping another OS would fix that. I also thought the newer versions of OS run faster? I am not sure but I am a newbie to all of this.

Since you like Vegan 5.1 then why not try VeganTAB 7.1, it is very stable.
I ran it using clemsyn's 1.6 kernal and it is fast.

Also the new CM7 7.2 which is also based on Gingerbread is another one I recommend.
I am currently using it. It comes with a 1.4ghz OC kernel already.
BTW to make thing runs better, change the VM stack size to 64M.

There could be a few reasons why an app will not run on your gTab or will not show up in the Market for you. It may be that you are trying to run apps that are for Gingerbread or Honeycomb. It may also be that your LCD density is keeping some of the apps from appearing in the Market.
As for newer OS versions running faster, I've tried about five different ROMs and VEGAn 5.1.1 is by far the fastest (you can overclock it if you want to run at 1.4 ghz or higher with custom kernels). So when I switched ROMs away from VEGAn 5.1.1 it wasn't about speed but rather better video driver support.
On more note, VEGAn Ginger and most other ROMs will take what seems like forever to boot up compared to VEGAn 5.1.1. Keep that in mind if do make the switch so you won't think your gTab is stuck during bootup when trying other ROMs.
