MIUI Fignerprint unlock only - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

hello,
Is it possible to only allow fingerprint unlock on my device?
Currently as far as I can see a pin or pattern is still required.
It would like to get rid of that.
Thanks.

Need pin to enable Fingerprint unlock. No way that I know to get round it.

Ni u can't and it is for good. If you burn your finger u can not unlock your phone, if you somehow brake the fingerprint sensor, u can not unlock your phone. You can only fingerprint and once in 72 hours it asks for pin so u can not forget it. That's it and this is how it should be

Since an earlier MIUI update this year my F1 requires entering the PIN every boot/reboot. After that the fingerprint reader works fine until the next reboot. And I recently unlocked the F1 and found the face scanner is finally working so I switched to it. Sadly, same reboot/enter PIN requirement as the fingerprint reader. Interesting that you're getting 72 hour intervals Gowcoizer. Is there a setting for that interval?
Cheers from soggy Thailand!

[Q] Possible to unlock screen without PIN ?

I have exchange policies through company email, which are quite strict. I am happy with that. Only problem I have now, is that I have to put in the PIN to unlock every time my screen wakes up. Formerly in WM6.5 (HD2) I could unlock only with swipe in the first 30minutes, and after 30minutes of inactivity, I had to provide the pin.
Can I do this now as well ? Is there a difference on the S II between unlock screen and PIN unlock ? In the settings I cannot find this option; are there solutions for that (other lockscreen apps e.g.) who do accept that ?
Hi,
I would suggest you download the manual for the phone.
in the mean time:-
Go to settings/location and security/change screen lock
there you can disable screen lock, set a pattern for unlock, set a pin or password.
Then go to settings/display/screen time out and change the time it takes to lock
Hope this helps
Txs, I see now that also exchange policy has greyed out the pattern option. So I cannot disable the pin unlock and cannot put in pattern ... Unfortunately so ...
oh coroparate phones eh?

I use touchdown for exchange app, and the pin is needed only for the app not the phone.

This is what I am using on my Captivate to overcome the same issue, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848564, I know we are not on the same phone but I am pretty sure the "fix" can be done on the email.apk for your phone.
Basically you need to tell the native email app to tell Exchange that it is using a PIN when in actuality it is not. If it is too complicated for you to do yourself, Fenny is pretty cool about doing it for you, just send him a copy of the email.apk you are using.
Looks like there is already an email.apk for you found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13413332&postcount=1533
If i am using the original ROM on Galaxy S2 for United Kingdom, would this email.apk still work or do i need an updated file ? What are the chances of administrator finding it out ?

[Q] 2.3.4 still double unlock?

For those that have 2.3.4, do you still have to swipe to unlock and then actually unlock the phone with the password/pin/whatever if you have it enabled?
The fingerprint scanner was the only way I could figure out how to avoid this with 2.2.x, but since that's non-functional at the moment, I was curious how the unlock might be working now.
Thats pretty much standard as far as I know. If you don't want to have to do that, then just don't put a passcode or pattern lock.

Fingerprint scanner with insecure lockscreen?

Is this possible. I've tried everything the fingerprint scanner doesn't work unless you have a secure lock screen. I have used knock code since I got the V10 along with fingerprint so I can use the fingerprint, but I don't want to have to put a knock code in if my fingerprint doesn't work or its on the table...
Anyone got a workaround? I'm still searching.
Matt
Does no one know how I can do this?
Matt
I'd like to know the same thing. I know LastPass just added fingerprint support (for marshmallow) and I'd love to be able to use my fingerprint to unlock that (when marshmallow comes) without having to have a secure lockscreen. I don't really care if someone can get into my phone. I just don't want to have to type in my password to use lastpass
I've searched around everywhere for this option .... I just don't think it exists.
So just don't use any lock to get into the phone now. I've got the stuff I want secure in locked files/apps section. Makes using and accessing the main functions of the phone much more accessible. Only doing this for a few days now as a test, but I think it'll be the way I keep it.
My Two Lock Screens Worth
I've addressed the issue another way. I added several more "trusted" places, devices, and connections as well as "trust while moving" which means as long as the phone senses it's on me, I'm at home, connected to Bluetooth devices I know, and more, there's no secure lock but fingerprint still unlocks it. Perfect. Still testing it

RedMi 3 Pro - fingerprint sensor allows unlocking device to EVERYONE

Good afternoon,
I have Xiaomi RedMi 3 Pro with official MIUI 8 6.9.1 by miuios.cz (official Czech translated multilingual ROM) and I have a big problem - everyone can unlock this phone using unauthorised fingerprints that are not scanned and saved as trusted. I can unlock phone at the third attempt every time! And using almost every part of my body (yes, almost every part, trust me... ).
Fingerprint sensor can unlock authorised fingers too, it works, but sometimes other fingers or body parts can unlock phone too...
I did a FR after this update (wipe cache, dalvik, data) and didn't work. It is possible that I didn't notice this weird bug using older ROMs.
May I ask for your help? Fingerprint sensor makes my machine free-to-unlock for persistent thiefs and non-friendly persons Also, makes it like clear RedMi 3 (without PRO)
Thanx from Czech Republic.

Normally after 3 attempts with a wrong finger, the unlock screen is displayed to be able to input the pass code or the pattern (In my case it's the pattern unlock screen).
So I'm wondering if you have correctly set a pass code or a pattern to unlock.

I think it was solved (I don't want to jinx it ) - the password (PIN) was set correctly, but in Settings was allowed 1 minute idle for unlocking without a password. I selected "no idle". That probably solved my problem
IMHO: Xiaomi needs to fix it, it is probably bug
Thanx a lot for your time!
It is actually not a bug. That feature is used so that users do not have to unlock the screen again in the selected amount of time, useful if they wanted to do something quick and removing the effort to unlock the phone by FP or any type of security. Cheers!

[HELP] M20PRO Fingerprint issue 'Slide to unlock after successful facial recognition'

I have an issue guys. When both fingerprint and face unlock options are activated, there are times when using fingerprint to unlock, the screen remains locked with the message 'Slide to unlock after successful facial recognition'. In face recognition options, it is already set to 'Direct unlock'. I do not know why it does that. Any Mate users here who have the same issue? Is it sort of a software bug? Is it because I might have slightly missed the scanning point so that error kicks in?
Usually this happens when the screen is turned off, it scans it, then the display turns on but it pops the message 'Slide to unlock after successful facial recognition'.
Yep, I noticed that too. The phone unlocks directly if only face recognition is activated. When you add fingerprint you need to slide.
I had this issue until i reset now it unlocks perfectly with face unlock.

Exactly, it is a software issue reported on Huawei's forum too.
When fingerprint fail (once or few times, not sure), Huawei decides that the phone requires an extra security step before unlocking, hence the annoying slide to unlock even with direct unlock.
I hope it gets resolved in a future update.
