Bad GPS on many ROMs - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone!
I was using my Poco F1 for a year now. After doing root, install MIUI eu until version 10.3.4, where everything was OK. When updating to 10.3.5, notice after a while that the GPS was not working properly. Sometimes it took too long to take the signal from the satellites, other times I immediately took the signal from the place where I am. The funny thing is that when I move, the GPS signal is almost immediately lost, so it is impossible to use Google Maps in that mode.
- I already tried Waze and the same thing happens
- Try installing 3rd. apps for correct GPS, with almost no result
- the phone has the same old case and has not received any blows
- Updated to MIUI eu 10.3.5 - 10.3.6 - 10.3.7 and the same thing continues
- installed the latest version of Lineage OS and give the same error
- Flash to Stock ROM and the same thing continues ...
what do you think? Will it be hardware failure? I'm about to open and check the antennas but I think it's very strange, since I don't remember hitting it or wetting it...

That looks like hw failure to me. I'd have it checked by service center or local repair shop.
In my case, ever since I updated to MIUI 10.3.5 the gps won't recognize my location correctly, takes longer time to locate. Shows 30-40 meters away from my exact location. Same thing on pixel experience rom. I tried calibrating compass with no success.
Not just Google maps, other apps like Uber and Food delivery apps has same problem.

I would test the reception first. To do this download a program like GPS test from the playstore. Think it is from chartcross or something.
Go outside in an open space and check the SNR values. Normally the values are like between 35 and 40 or some even a bit higher. Also check how many sats it sees and can get a lock on.
Report that first if you can.

if miui's persist file has been updated altered from miui10.3.5 onwards
then redownloading FASTBOOT ROM of miui10.3.4 and unziping then unziping and flashing persist.img in /persist partition will put you back on older persist.img file!
worth trying! but becareful!
persist.img can be flashed using recovery only!

seems to be a very frecuent Hardware failure, it happensa to me exactly the same, sadly I use the gps very much so I had to buy another phone (Mi9 t) lots of folks seem to have the same problem, maybe Pocoafter all made too many sacrifices in order to pack the sd 845 with such a low price, now I´m using the mi9t and the screen is from another world next to poco, also the audio is at least 10x times better, and on my country didn´t have 4g support on poco....now, I´m just waiting for android q to be relized on poco so can use it with desktop mode, but the experience in general with poco was pretty bad

Solved!
Well, it seems that I discovered the error. I was testing the app "GPS test" and note that sometimes it took satellites and sometimes not. I cleared the cache from TWRP and it improved only for a while .... I was missing just doing a downgrade of Miui, before checking the antennas.
What was the real cause? Not long ago I changed from a telephone company to a "virtual" company (outsource the infrastructure) because it was cheaper. The problem arises I think because Constantly performs Roaming. That's all. I placed a SIM with another company (not virtual) and the GPS worked automatically as before ...

My Gosh....you are right....I removed the Sim as it is now on my new phone, and been testing the gps for about an hour and it hasn't lost signal....I didn't change my phone company, so can't understand why it happended, maybe they changed something internally....but yeah....with out sim it's working just fine, I guess changing something on the config may do the trick too

That is precisely the odd thing ... I already tried lots of different configurations, cache cleaning, GPS reset, GPS fix, third-party applications, changing the A-GPS ports and NOTHING really worked for me ...
Until I changed the telephone company.
I don't know how this works to infer so much in GPS operation, but there it is.

Alltel Touch Pro and GPS - are there issues?

Hey guys,
Can you tell me if there is an "issue" with the GPS on the Alltel Touch Pro phones? These are fairly new phones and have only been out for a couple weeks so there may not be a lot of info available but it sure seems to me there are some issues here.
I'm on my 3rd phone. First phone was probably OK but since it was new and nobody in the area was familiar with it, everyone thought the speakerphone speaker was defective... turns out it just sucks but that's in a different thread. On the 2nd phone we noticed at the Alltel store the signal kept dropping out completely and then coming back. Also I dropped a call, looked at the phone and it showed no bars in a very good signal reception area. That coupled with I couldn't get the GPS to reliably work, Alltel swapped out the phone again for me thinking the GPS was defective. Well, third one might be worse!!!???
I have verified I have the 911 location settings turned ON.
I have run QuickGPS and downloaded the data.
On the 2nd phone after several days of trying it off and on and having zero success I decided to get the $9.99 monthly Alltel app. It did indicate a weak signal but eventually picked up my location. Hmm??? I then went into Google Maps and it too was seeing around 10 satellites. Why could I not get it to see any satellites for days then as soon as I paid for the monthly Alltel app it "kinda" worked??? I say "kinda" because after that being able to lock onto satellites even in an open field was very iffy. So, I took the Alltel GPS app off the phone and did a hard reset because I still couldn't consistently get any satellites. After the hard reset I tried again with Google Maps and nothing. I then downloaded GPS Test and it immediately found several satellites??? I then started up Google Maps and then it immediately started working too?!? During all this I installed TomTom Navigator 5 (own that so thought I'd try it) and it too was "iffy" if it would find any satellites but it did connect so long as I had the GPS Test program running in the background. I could live with that but even with the GPS Test program running in the background on the 2nd phone it wasn't at all consistent even outside in an open field. What I find odd though is that the GPS seems to "stick" and the GPS Test program was "unsticking" the locked up GPS... but not reliably.
Now for the 3rd phone. Get the 3rd phone this morning and immediately download Google Maps, turn on location settings, and do the Quick GPS. Do a soft reset and try out Google Maps in a parking lot. NOTHING again after over 10 minutes. CRAP! Downloaded GPS Test and now on this phone I'm only getting "GPS starting up" with one yellow bar. I can't even get GPS Test to work now but it finds the GPS and acts like it is trying to lock on to satellites. On both phones it was defaulting to 9600 baud. Seemed to not make a difference if I select 9600 or 4800... when it works it works and when it doesn't it doesn't.
This is very frustrating. It is not like the programs don't work because I've got them all to work but only sporadically. Is Alltel doing "something" to this phone and the GPS like "half assed" locking it out??? I don't know what else it could be. Could I have got two bad phones in a row? I've read were other Alltel users just download Google Maps and, bingo, works immediately for them.
Any ideas as to what I might be able to try would be greatly appreciated. I love some of the features on the phone but some of the basic items that should work (speakerphone, GPS) on an expensive phone like this don't work worth a darn
Thanks!!!
Drop the Alltel Nav plan...you don't need it. All it did was set your GPS settings to work, which you can do in the settings. Set GPS Hardware Port GPS and GPS Program Port both to none. Set Baud at 4800 and allow automatic managment. Soft Reset just in case and you should be good to go!

I only had the Alltel Nav plan for a couple of days... only got it for troubleshooting.
I had tried your settings before and both Google Maps and GPS Test could not even find the GPS. I just tried again and same results... GPS just keeps scanning for the GPS and can never find it. You have an Alltel phone?
The setting that you recommend me changing away from the default setting is the GPS Program Port... if that is set to NONE, the programs can't even find the GPS. When I change it back to COM4, the GPS is found but GPS Test sits at "GPS Starting Up" with either no satellites found or just one most of the time. I did the other day get it to work even on this new phone but then yesterday tried again for 20 minutes sitting still outside and the best I got GPS Test to show was 4 satellites... not even enough to get past the "starting up" message.
It seems like it is defective again but, man, TWO phones in a row with a bad GPS?????
So last night after replying to this thread, I was messing around with the new google maps. This morning...NOTHING works with my GPS. Perhaps the download of alltel nav (although canceled) activated the GPS on my phone for a specified time and now the sub ended. I was sold on this phone by Alltel reps because the GPS was not locked to an app.

Well, after screwing around yesterday like I did, I decided to just let it set in my garage (with many sky lights) this morning for a few hours with the GPS Test program running and looking for satellites. NOTHING. Did a soft reset, went outside, started up the GPS Test program and within 5 seconds was locked on to 10 satellites!?!?! I could swear I've done soft resets before and it did no good. Will try a soft reset again if it quits working on me. Also, I'm inside the house now in a room with ZERO windows and it is still seeing 7 satellites. I suspect there is an issue with GPS on this phone but because it seems very "flaky" I'd think a software update may be able to fix it... hope so anyway!
You might want to try a soft reset and see if that works for ya?
I also talked to a smart phone expert guy and he said it doesn't hurt to do the Quick GPS DAILY. He has found that on many phones running a program like this daily helps the phone to connect much quicker. FWIW, I didn't run it today and after the reset it connected in seconds. LOL
Ok, so I tried running Quick GPS and I get an error "Connection Failed". Perhaps this is somehow related to the GPS issue? I will keep trying throughout the day.

I only ever got that when my 911 location setting was turned OFF when I first got the phone. Turned that on and it worked no problem. Also, of course, you have to be able to get your data connection established. With a data connection and your location settings ON, I don't know why you'd have a problem.
GPS no worky right for me......
Finally someone with a thread for this issue! I too am having the exact same problem. The GPS is very "flaky" at best.... I have had it work sporadically at best in the car and will drop it for no reason and the pick it right back up and then go out for good. I dont really understand what to do, it is all quite a mystery. I have manipulated the settings back and forth trying diffent things to no avail. I hope there is an update soon that straightens this out. It annoys me becasue my old titan got signal in about 10 seconds, 10 satellites, indoors, in any part of my house.... just a bit frustrating. Hopefully we get a fix soon.
Thanks for any advice on this!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
This was driving me nuts! Now not only does quickGPS work, so does google maps I remember now changing that setting last night. Who knew?

After messing with this a bit more, I think there is definitely an issue with the Alltel version of this phone and the GPS. It seems that if I can't get it to work, it WILL work after I do a soft reset. What triggers the "need" to do a soft reset I have not yet figured out. But, I do know that I saw a friend who just got a Sprint HTC Touch Pro and had no idea about the GPS. I downloaded Google Maps on their phone and in less than 5 seconds the GPS was working like a charm.
Looks like the Alltel GPS works but is very sporadic at best and, for whatever reason, requires a soft reset damn near each time you want to use it. Hoping for a real "fix" for this soon!
and how do i change the 911 location settings
The 911 settings are located in the settings for the phone. START->SETTINGS->PHONE then click the Services tab and it is under the Location Setting.

Ok here is something that may be contributing to my problem. So i have double and triple checked the my location check and looked at the option which has always read "on". the strange thin is that the icon on the phone dialer screen shows my location feature is set to off. I have gone back to check the location setting and verified it was on. So i selected off then back on and then the icon reflected it was "on". I have tried soft resets after doing this and it goes right back to the way it was before I force it on. I am now hinking this is what is contributing to the flaky response of the gps. just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.....

Which icon are you talking about? I looked through the online pdf manual and could find no icon that indicated this setting was on or off
Also, while a soft reset sometimes works for this, it doesn't all the time. What has saved me time in this, though, is that I've learned that if it doesn't connect in under a minute, it ain't going to. Mine either works pretty much right away or doesn't work at all. It does seem to help to start up GPS Test first but that doesn't always work either.
After reading a bit more about this on other forums, it doesn't look to be related specifically to the Alltel version like I originally assumed. A number of people with other carriers are also experiencing "flaky" operation of the HTC Touch Pro GPS. The very sad part about this is that, apparently, HTC refuses to acknowledge a problem exists.
Would be nice to know if this is a software/driver issue or hardware issue. If a hardware issue then I'll be stuck using an external receiver most likely. Software, I can hold out hope that somebody will get it figured out!
the icon i am referring to is on you phone dialer. it is a circle that resembles a set of crosshairs. when the location feature is on, you will see the crosshairs. when the setting is off the crosshairs have a diagonal line through them. i am using my phone to send this so i cant attach any pictures right now. the icon is right next to the back arrow at the top of the dialer where the number you dial is shown.
update... spent 30 minutes with alltel smartphone support and they had no solution other than saying they would send this to the group that reports issues to htc to work on a solution. they did offer me to return it but i like this phone too much. i am
sure we will figure it out soon enough.

Ahh... I see that now and amazingly enough, mine has a line through it. I'll check that next time I can get the GPS to work and see if it changes.
Like you, I really like the phone but it greatly aggravates me that something so expensive doesn't work, as designed, out of the box.
I have had 3 alltel TP phones and all of them once 911 and location was set to on and quick gps was run once then they always got instant locks of 10 satellites. On my mogul the best i would ever get would be 4-6 satellites. Google & Live search use the intermediate driver with default settings with no lag and Iguidance (which is the best voiceprompt gps software) works with no lag when using Franson GPS gate as a virtual com port for the GPS driver.

If you go to your phone dialer, is there a "line" through the crosshair/circle icon?
I haven't been able to get a lock for couple days now. Bummer. I'm going to call Alltel tech support again and see what they say.
Ok, after not even beeing able to get more than a couple satellites being shown in GPS Test which means nothing more than a GPS Starting message, I decided to call tech support to see if they had documented any other issues with the phone since I last contacted them. I was told there are NO known issues with the Touch Pro (not even the problem with the speakerphone or the previously reported GPS issues).
After talking with tech support and they guy telling me that they get a number of calls for "other" GPS software programs but not too many for the Alltel Navagation program that they offer, he told me he can't help me with the other programs and I should contact their vendors. I tried to explain to him that one was a simple GPS Test program and the other was Google Maps but he kept saying that they don't really have problems with "their" GPS subscription program.
Being basically fed up and figuring it was worth the $10 to continue to troubleshoot this problem, I downloaded the Alltel Navagation program again. And guess what... IT WORKED. Guess what else... when I had the Alltel Navagation program working, GPS Test and Google Maps work fine too and I'm even inside a large building right now!!!
Does anybody have any "inside" on what is going on here? I know a number of Alltel people say the GPS on their Touch Pro works just fine using something like Google Maps. On mine, it "sometimes" works. I find it VERY odd that on my last Touch Pro phone I NEVER got even a single satellite to show until I downloaded the Alltel pay program. Now, with this phone, after struggling with it a bit I can "sometimes" get it to work but haven't been able to for a couple days, even after numerous soft resets but now, immediately after activating and running the Alltel program, my GPS starting working just peachy and even inside a large building!?!? I've got a full 5 bars in the Alltel GPS program inside. WHAT GIVES???
I'm going to pay for this Alltel program for a few days and see if I can consistently get a lock. If so, I'd sure like to know why the phone's GPS magically gets "better" so long as you pay for their service

I am using the regular windows dialer and yes there is a line through the circle/crosshair.
I just went outside and launched Gpsgate/Iguidance and had 10 sattelites instantly, it has been at least a week since I have drove and used the GPS, but I use it all the time with no problems or lag. Inside I almost instantly get 6-7 sats. using Google maps or livesearch without GPS gate, only the MS intermediate driver I get instant locks as well. I ran quick GPS once about a month ago on this unit.

Gps Problems

Hi, I bought a Motorola Atrix in Amazon 2 months ago. Since start the Gps din't work at all, 0 in view in apps like "Gps test". I tried almost everything: changing gps.conf, flashing radios, using custom roms like Nottachtrix and CM7, and reverting back to stock via rsd. Btw, a friend of mine who bought the same phone at the same time, had problems with gps in stock rom, but after flashing CM7, it worked just fine.
So, I ask you to help me giving any ideas to fix this.
Maybe this can be useful: The Atrix came with Italian retail rom and N_01.100.00R radio.
Thanks a lot.
PS: Sorry if I don't write quite well, I'm not an english natural speaker.

If you use an app such as GPS status do you pick up any satellites? It seems to be a common problem to find the satellites but not to be able to get a lock.
Also is you install GPS Status it will allow you to update the agps files.
Did you try gps lock with data access enabled? And as eddhard said do you pick any satellites?
In the gps settings menu turn OFF the options to use mobile networks or wifi. Then use the gps status or gps test app outside in a clear view for a minute or two. If it reports an accuracy distance as 0 or an error there is an issue with your gps that I might have a solution for.
For no reason my gps straight up failed to get a lock. In the test apps, it would see 9-10 satellites with strong signal but never wanted to get a lock. Multiple multiple factory resets, formats, any other variable I tried to change and the issue persisted.
I've attached the file that fixed the issue for me. Extract the libnmea.so and place it in your /system/lib folder after you make a backup of the existing file. Let us know if that helps.

Thanks for your answers, the problem isn't the locking of any of the sats. Test apps show "0 in view" even on outdoors.
I don't have a solution. But I've had a lot of difficulty with GPS on my Atrix as well. I can get a lock usually after a minute or so, but then the GPS would go to sleep. So if I'm moving or logging a route, it'll show me where I started even after several minutes. I flashed radios, updated gps conf, and used GPS Status & Toolbox to get a lock. Still no improvement. It helped me get the initial lock, and didn't resolve the freezing issue. I eventually gave up and bought separate GPS. So I'd be interested to know if you find a way to fix this.
Guys, if you don't see any satellites in GPS Status app, maybe is hardware issue. If you have warranty, use it. If you don't, try to disassemble your phone and look. Maybe just cable is disconnected or has bad contact. Of course be very careful with disassembling or ask someone with experiences. Youtube guide how to change digitizer on Atrix could be useful.
Good luck
I had problems with GPS fix on AT&T atrix 4g with N_01.100.00R europe radio. After flashing 37p at&t radio gps works perfectly, fix is really fast.
Also WiFi signal strength increased.

GPS fails unrecoverably within 10min on a GSM SIM, until phone is rebooted.

On the Rezound the location services target-symbol icon is always present in two states. An OFF state where only the main target symbol is showing, and an ON state having an additional pair of lines to its right hand side.
I have been on 4.03.605.2 Update since August with no issues, except two days ago I cancelled Verizon and have been using the phone with a T-Mobile SIM. Again all is working flawlessly (including data, phone, and texts) except the GPS started to fail within 10min of navigation. It fails because somehow the entire location service crashes (the target icon disappears completely), at which point fiddling with settings or AGPS cache and such is irrelevant. Only a phone reboot restarts the service.
(before cancelling Verizon, I was able to drive 1700 miles across country having the GPS fully functional for 8-12 hours at a time daily with no hitches. So there is something new amiss here. Also, I have already wiped the phone and reinstalled the 4.03.605.2 clean from scratch and re-rooted).
->My question is, does anyone know which specific apk is responsible for the location services (including the taskbar symbol) and can it be hot restarted by itself, or what could possible be causing it to crash in the first place ?
If you wanted you could try a new ROM or you could try a factory reset.

the location icon is stored in framework-res.apk and comes active by the framework.jar and services.jar i know there is a patch floating around that will give the GPS a more accurate location reading with updated north america stats. you can try to find this and run it to see if it patches the problem. i have never heard of this before.

I am afraid, the the gps.conf tweak is not helping in my case (tried it). For the lack of better explanation, it is as if the gps driver/daemon crashes (to borrow a windows term) and I can play with the settings and checkboxes all day, it will not come back online until a reboot.
To give you an idea of the symptoms.
For up to 10-15 min it works flawlessly, locking within 2secs, seeing 20 satellites and tracking 10-14 of them. Then within a few turns of GPS navigation the location services icon disappears, the gps icon starts blinking and GPStest screen goes blank with 0 in sight and 0 tracking. No amount of check-box fiddling in settings, or AGPS cache clearing recovers it until reboot.
Uninstalled gMaps, and tried a few other packages as well (CoPilot, Maverick, OsmAnd) makes no difference.
Even without any Nav software running ... just launching the GPStest app and leaving it on with the screen on, it will go for an hour or so before jamming. So GPStest goes for an hour and Nav apps go for 10-15min ... should I assume some kind of GPS buffer overflows and crashes the location service ?
SOLVED.
For some reason the Rezound needs to be either in Global or CDMA mode for the GPS to work indefinitely without fail.
When I put it on GSM / UMTS the GPS only lasts for an hour or so before failing and requiring phone reboot.
In GSM mode it fails within 5-10 min.
In CDMA mode it works perfectly even though it gets no signal due to the GSM SIM inside.
(Keep in mind I use the phone with a GSM SIM)
In summary, keeping the phone in CDMA or Global mode fixes the issue. I also added these lines in the gps.conf for the heck of it (but I really do not think they do anything. I can still get it to fail by switching modes)
PHONE_TYPE=Global
PHONE_TYPE=CDMA
PHONE_TYPE=GSM / UMTS

Have you tried cm9 yet. Option for GSM and cdma on the same line might help.

That option on CM9 is the descriptive form of the "Global mode" in the HTC RUU under the hood.
My next step is to understand why the network modes affect the Rezound GPS like this.
Anyone knows if there an HTC doc that describes the official GPS APIs, or at least how to properly construct a gps.conf file with settings that the Rezound actually understands ?

Did some more searching on this and so far I begin to suspect the possibility that the Rezound is deliberately GPS-locked to the CDMA network by Verizon. (Unlike my earlier claim, the global mode does fail eventually. It just takes a while longer).
I am not happy with this but so far the only workaround is to switch to CDMA while navigating (even if the phone gets no signal due having a GSM sim).
I will keep looking ... and any suggestions are welcome...
The GPS works on the CDMA setting even with the SIM removed completely, (but it fails if set to GSM with no SIM and no data).

Slow gps fix?

I have a p760 and I found gps performance are very bad without agps.
To get an offline fix it took 10+ minutes, in the same conditions my old acer s120 got it in less than 2 minutes.

I have similar problem, fix is slow and not stable, even with agps, using nav aps in car is imposible.
I've installed GPS Status to help fix faster but it didnt helped much.
Any one found a solution for this?
I have the same problem, fix is fast but GPS connection is not stable. Tried install another navigation but doesn't work.
If youre rooted try to install this app FasterGPS
Thanks is much better, but not perfect. Connected with 6-10 satellite have low quality signal(in GPS test ~20 SNR), localization is not ideal. Any ideas ? Sorry for my english
Also, if your rooted, I recommend Pimp My Rom (alpha) from the Play Store. It has lots of useful tweaks, but it also allows you to get the correct GPS config file for your country. As my phone was from Taiwan, it would have the config files for that country and not the UK - where I am. Correct location = Faster connection.
You just get the app then move to the 'Tools' tab then scroll to the bottom, One up from that should be the GPS Configuration, choose your region then country and 'Apply Selected Tweak'. It only takes a few seconds and it makes sure your GPS is configured for your country.
Hopefully this helps out.
I just geve up with fixing GPS, i factory reseted the device, and even uploaded software using "emergency software recovery" from LG tool to try all options, but no success.
Today phone was sent to the service center. Now waiting for the results.
==========================================================
Phone is back from service, and it works now
Fix in less then 10 sec and stable.
Service center replaced back side of the phone (not the battery cover ), there are aerials there i think.

official Z7mini 5.0 beta bugs

Hi,
as some people may not be sure before switching to the beta version released by nubia, it may be a good idea to list the issues that we found with this rom
here are mine (I only use one sim card)
1: UI is slow and even more slow with full brightness (installing another launcher could help)
2: the notification switchs (data) will be ON whereas data is off . Plain mode also turn off data but the switch stay on
3: bluetooth audio is crappy... there are like sound hole every 5 seconds... can't use it correcly in my car
beside that, it did not tell the car what music is playing (there was no issue on CM12 and Mokee 5)
4: once the new system is installed, you can't reinstall directly install your previous backups as the partition is now different..
new CM12/mokee will be released soon to fix this. In the worst case you can still reinstall kitkat with the nubia update tool

I've tried to duplicate the problem in number 1, but have not had problems. I've also read (don't remember where now) on a couple of the Chinese bbs that this seems common. Some people really think the new UI is slow and others do not have problems. I actually think it runs pretty smoothly.
I agree with number 2. Additionally, even though I have vibrate turned off, the phone always vibrates. Unless I have the phone on silent, then there is no vibrating and no sound. I've tried to have vibrate for silent only and it does not work.
I don't use bluetooth, so I cannot confirm number 3.
I partially disagree with point 4 because you can get much of what you had back previously if you used something like Titanium Backup. As I stated in one of my previous posts, I used Titanium backup to backup all apps and data. After that, I copied the folder to my computer. After installing the Nubia beta update, I transferred the folder back to the phone and restored everything without any problems. On the other hand, number 4 is correct. You cannot go back and reinstall a previous TWRP or CWM backup because of the unified storage. In my opinion, this has nothing to do with Nubia as this applies to any phone that upgrades from 4.4 to 5.0/5.1. If a rom says that it is Android L, but does not use unified storage, it is still technically a modified version of 4.4.
A couple of additional points that I don't like:
Cannot modify the actions of the buttons
No theme engine for further UI modifications
No clock widget (I know it's minor, but many people are complaining about this on the Chinese bbs too.)
One thing that is nice is that I had issues with my battery overheating frequently and since I have updated this has not happened at all. Maybe it's just me, but I'm kind of an app junkie. I'm always trying new apps; installing them, uninstalling them and so on. This process seems to be much quicker now. Additionally, I think that the signal has improved. I now have mobile reception in several areas where it was a dead zone previously.
thank you for your long feedback
in fact i prefer using cwm or twrp backups as i change the entire rom, it may be that some settings are not located at the same place so using a tool like titanium that run on the rom itself may not find all settings (but maybe they improved it since i first tried)
Concerning the UI slownes, I used Mokee and Cm12 on this phone and the feeling was a lot smoother
other people confirmed this. Try sliding from one desktop to an other with brightness level at minimum and retry it with maximum brightness you'll notice a visible difference
concerning the existing CM12/Mokee 5 roms, these are indeed Android5. But maybe they didn't change the storage to be 100% compatible with existing nubia partition
oh i also forgot, like in previous nubia rom, the UI has no notification access menu... I don't understand why
this is particulary useful if another device needs to read the notifications like a watch or a band... (but you can access it by installing 3rd party tools)
i'm on Cuocu92's modified Android 5 (he added some stuff like multilang, removed some useless apps and added google apps)
but I will switch back to Mokee or Cm12 as soon as they release a working version... the bluetooth and notification switch issue are two point that force me to switch
I do agree that Mokee and CM12 were a bit smoother. However, even when I change brightness from minimum to maximum I don't seem to notice any drastic change in smoothness. Maybe it's the launcher that you use like we talked about in the other thread. I agree with you on the notification access menu, that's a pain in the a$$. Interesting about the CM12/Mokee; I've read several places that state otherwise, so I'm not sure what to believe. I also agree, I too will switch back to Mokee or CM12. The FIUI rom has also been having some really nice improvements and I may try that if they switch to 5.0. For me the notification, the button customization, and the themes make me want to switch back.
Have to agree that the UI on 5.0 is pretty laggy even when using Nova launcher which is usually butter smooth their is major frame drops. And it especially gets laggy when brightness adjusts its self if set on auto.
Also at some point the home button stopped working for some unknown reason. I had to use the back button to exit apps. I don't know why some guys say that they don't have a theme engine. I have one on my ROM.
All in all I would not recommend someone using this ROM as a daily driver. Stick to 4.4 or any of the CM12, CM12.1 or Mokee versions.
I happen to have 2 Z7 minis with me and they both had the exact same bugs. I had to revert back to CM12.
i went to new CM12.1
but for people who need GPS => CM12.1 has a broken GPS, no signal, not even one satelite got detecte. Even outside with a clear view. Whereas official nubia can fix whitin 10 seconds inside ...

I agree now and finally see what people are talking about. Certain apps have really slowed down. It's apps that I don't use very often, but it's getting to be annoying. Going to give the new CM12 a try.

Can anyone help me? I was trying to flash the new CM12.1 using TWRP and in the middle of it the phone went black. Now I can't turn it back on, can't do anything. Ideas anyone? This sucks. Fortunately, I just did a backup of everything, but now the phone won't even power up. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Yes, I had already upgraded to the official nubia beta.
Edit: The phone still won't turn on, whether it's plugged in or not. However, when I plug it into the computer I can see 5 different partitions of various odd sizes with different aspects of the phone software visible.
Edit 2: So I did a hard reset and was able to get back to TWRP. Next I tried wipe data, cache, dalvik and it did the usual trying to format partitions and it kept failing, saying it couldn't access data. I tried flashing CM12.1 and it gave me the same error, although it said it installed successfully. I also flashed gapps. Now I'm waiting for it to boot up.

I've been on CM12.1 for almost 24 hours now and have not had this problem. GPS was off by default when I installed it and I had to enable it. I've used G-maps and a couple of other apps that need GPS and all of them locked on within a few seconds.

did you tried with gps device only settings ?
because maps use wifi and network localisation to have a position even when gps is not turned on
this really makes me crazy...
I installed gps test and it stay a "no fix"
whereas when i restore my nubia 5.0 OS and tried gps test it fix directly
restoring back the CM12.1 got again no fix :/

You are correct. I had not tried device only - it does not work. This is frustrating. Off to the Chinese forums to see what they say....
Hey guys I'm using the official v3.01 and I have so many bugs and crashes. Worst of all it crashes when I have an incoming call and sometimes the screen goes dark when I get a call and I can't swipe and answer the phone. Is there anyway to go back to KitKat 4.4.4? Can anyone explain the steps?
