Android 10 Share Menu Issues - Google Pixel 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

After the upgrade to 10, the share menu still shows my most recent contacts at the top, but pressing them will only launch Messages. I have Textra as my default app so now these quick share options are useless. Before the 10 upgrade they would launch in my default app. Is there a way to change this behavior or is google trying to force us into their messages app?

If I understood correctly, this should solve the issue

[Q] HUGE Annoying Messaging Problem On Stock

I have a huge and annoying messaging problem on stock. Here's my problem. I text somone and the conversation is formed. When they text me back their message pops up on top of mine and says I've received it at a completely different time! When I text back, the message appears directly below my other message I sent... and so on.. So the messages get all jumbled up! This is REALLYannoying.. HELP?
ANYONE????!!!!
Which ROM are you using and which messaging app?
I'm using stock ROM (2.1 Update 1 with sense).. with the default messaging app.

You know my problem? or not?
Ok. One thing to try. Go to 'manage applications ' then delete data from messages app. This shouldn't delete your messages but you may want to back them up first. Then restart your phone. That is all I can suggest, unless you have thousands of messages, in which case I' d suggest to delete quite a few. Other than that I don't know unless its a carrier problem.
Just thought of one more obvious answer. Go to date and time settings and see if 'network provided values' is checked

Tried it, I'm texting someone now and once I get the response back I should be able to tell if ticking this option changed anything

Aw man. It didn't work Too bad. Thanks for the help anyway. I'll continue my searches.
The time stamps for the incoming text messages seem to arrive at completely different times (FYI)
Anyways if you could offer any further help, it would be greatly appreciated.
I solved it.. I installed SMS Time Fix by Matthew Precious (from the android market) and it fixed my problem.. Thanks for all the help though

[Q] Text messages over 160 characters converted to MMS

I'm on the stock 407 with my dell streak. Basically when on the stock messaging app, when a text message exceeds 160 characters it is converted to MMS. I have been using third party apps but I really prefer the default. My streak is rooted, and I was wondering if anyone knew a way to stop my text messages being converted to mms?
search in the setting that called as SMS Split or something similar...
sms split will auto split any message above 160 character... and therefore avoiding sms to mms conversion..

open your messaging application and then press the streak hardware middle button... it should show Settings or something similar...

I am in the messaging settings there is nothing in here about split sms or anything like that. Is there some kind of app I have to install to get that setting?

As I stated above, that setting does not appear and if you actually read the post you'd know I'm using the default messaging app.
I was referring to this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423340 that someone suggested.
It tells you to change some system files, I've tried ES file explorer but it only lets me access my SD card.
ok... sorry for the trouble...

SMS issue
I have a Streakk 5 running Stock 360, rooted with a few tweaks and I have no problems sending long txt's or pics. I have tried multiple Gingerbread rom's and I have foung the split SMS option in some, but all of them require me to have my data on to send or recieve pics. I have a limited data package and was hoping someone knows of how to change settings or of an app that will allow me to send and recieve pics without data on.

Disable Sense Messages App?

I did a quick search but didn't see anything, has anyone tried disabling the stock Messages app? I'm wanting to use the stock JB Messaging app, which I found on the Play Store, but the only oddity I've found is that MMSs try to download from each application. I disabled auto retrieve in the stock/sense Messages app, but it still has the click to download stub.
If you go into Settings>Apps under the "All" tab, there should be an app named "Messages".... Click that and hit the Disable button.
Sent from my HTC One
Why not just disable/turn off notifications?

Yeah, I was just curious as to if anyone had done it before. I didn't want to completely mess up the phone in the event that it caused an endless Force Close notification or something.

The MMS messages were getting duplicated because both SMS/MMS apps were trying to download them even if you disable auto retrieve.
In any case, I "fixed" my issue by flashing the Google Edition firmware on my device. I liked Sense, but since I came from using CM 10.1 on my SGS II as well as stock Android on my Nexus 7, I feel more at home with the stock Android look/feel.
Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

It's because of the "Background task cleaner" that got introduced with latest update. Just find it in Settings and whitelist whatsapp and you're good to go.
That was it... thank you for the tip!

whatsapp and background task cleaner
Had same problem with WhatsApp, but whitelisting it in background task cleaner seems to have worked for me. Thanks for advice!
Hoping it will fix Waze problem too - Waze started to navigate erratically with random errors, so I've whitelisted that.

You can find it from Settings / Background task cleaner. Select all apps you want to whitelist or disable whole task cleaner.

Not sure if you found out how, but just read your post - simply go into settings and go to background task clear and choose apps you wish to exclude (whitelist) in this case WhatsApp ;0)

push notifications not working after trying all the suggestions

Hi,
I just got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 recently and am having problems with push notifications for apps such as Whatsapp, Facebook messenger, LINE and so on. I have spent hours trying all the suggestions out there multiple times as to how to fix it but it still doesn't work. This includes:
1: Disable power saving mode.
2: Disable 'destroy activity' function.
3: Check Notification settings
4: Setup notifications for each App in settings.
5: Ensure app has notifications enabled.
6: Enable Autostart
7: Disable data saver and enable dual data on all apps.
8: Commit apps to memory.
9: Customise power saving settings.
Even after doing all this, I am still unable to receive messages and calls from apps in real time. I use another phone of mine to call myself literally 5 seconds after closing the app and still my Xiaomi phone does not register the call until I manually open the app and get a missed call.
Can someone please help me with this. Thanks.
I enabled Autostart for all the messaging apps and apps i need to run in the background and everything is working great for me.
I get calls from whatsapp all the time and everything working great.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have literally every single app enabled for Autostart just in case but still don't receive anything until I open the app manually. Tried reinstalling the apps and rebooting multiple times too.
With what apps you are having this problem? Me for example I don't have any problem with whatsapp but with Skype sometimes I don't get notifications because miui kills the process in the background which is very annoying.
I hope xiaomi will fix it in miui 9 (if we'll ever get this update on our rn4 anyway).

I tried the steps in this guide and everything is working for me. It was mainly gmail that wasnt notifying of new mails unless I opened the app itself.

It works sometimes for Whatsapp and LINE but only sometimes, which doesn't make any sense. I'll get a notification for a message normally once and then won't get anything for awhile and be bombarded with missed messages when I open the app manually again. Doesn't seem to ever work for Gmail or Facebook messenger.

have you tried going to developer settings and disable "MIUI Optimizations" ?
