Very poor battery life in LineageOS Roms (or any AOSP ROMS)) - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Guides, News, & D

Am i the only one experiencing this? Very very poor battery life on AOSP Roms also there is no fast charging notification. When i sleep at night with 100% battery, i will wake up with 30% battery. Battery life only lasts for about 4-5hours depending on usage.

Search on the crDroid forum for our device. Both @SnowFuhrer and I posted details of our battery stats and what we did to achieve it.
4-5 hours is appalling and isn't normal. Neither is s 70% drop

Froyo OTA and battery issues

My brother did the OTA update last night, his phone has never been rooted.
After about 5 hours today his battery has about 20% life left! Battery stats says 74% of the power was used by the display which was on for 40 minutes.
Cell standby is about 4% of battery use and he was without signal for 25% of the time, if I recall correctly.
Anyone else observing something similar?
My battery life on 2.9.2 has been less than desirable and I was considering going back to stock in hopes the battery would be better after the OTA. This is not encouraging.
Also, does he need to go through a couple battery cycles, drain fully then fully charge, before he gets a clear picture of what the battery life would be?
TIA
Yes true battery life will be clearer after a few days of use. The phone learns your usage and gives a better idea of how much charge is left.
best way is to fully charge battery and then wipe battery stats and then drain battery and then charge battery to full one charge. Then use phone normally for s couple of days. Then you will hadn't good sense of what kind of battery life you are getting.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Thanks for the response.
Am I correct that he would need to root to be able to run the battery stats script or is there another way?

I update OTA last week on Verizon to Froyo 2.2. My battery was overheating and draining like crazy from my CPU usage being at a constant 99%..
I found the source of the problem. An app I use for facebook called "FLOW". The CPU usage was cut to 20% when I killed it with "Advanced Task Killer".
I resolved the issue by: Opening Flow.. going to Preferences.. Notification Settings.. Refresh Type.. Checked Periodic Polling (I was using Gmail Experimental previously)
Hope this helps...
I agree, the OTA froyo ED01 is worse for battery life. I get 5-8% per hour idle drain, which is way too high. I've been try to track down the issue with spare parts, system pannel, and battery details. So far I can't see any specific issue.
There are so many hoops to jump through just to get this phone working normally. It's really insanity that we should have to bust our butts on software bugs. And this isn't even mentioning the totally slow choppy ass browser in 2.2. (Vibrant browser on 2.2 SO much better)
Overall my urge to flush this POS down the toilet is growing every day.

[Q] Battery life normal?

Hi guys,
I'm using GingerMod v0.3 with the default kernel (ninphetamine 2.1.3).
My battery was at 100% when i went to sleep. After about 8 hours when i woke up, it dropped to 92%. Is that normal?
I have turned off automatic sync as well as gps. Even "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" was off. Display was at a minimum 3%. Most of the battery % was used up by Android OS.
given the percentage of the draining 8% over 8 hours i quess is pretty good. I quess different rom + kernel produce different effects. Yours is considered ok.
ya the drain is quite normal

1% an hour during sleep mode is considered good? i had the impression that it would only drop 3-4% during sleep.

More than good I'd say. And you never can have a constant rate, one night it will be 3-4%, other night it will be 9-10%, depends on the processes running at that period. If you have Better Battery Stats installed then you will be able to see what had cost that extra drainage under Partial Wakelocks section.
I normally have 3-4% drain in an overnight period of 8-9 hours, but yesterday it was 15%. Then I saw it was Camera360 Ultimate which was running and searching for GPS!
Regards.
That's about similar to what i get on standby with data enabled so yeah good battery there/
Thats good ? Mine drops 1 percent overnight (+-10 hours) with original battery Or stays at 100 until morning when I wake up with 2000mah bat... Data and wifi turned off.
But I presume thats just me being battery friendly user
I tried better battery stats and it seems the Email app is consuming the most resources during sleep. hmm...

Battery life usage

Just trying to find out what sort of battery life others are getting and standby overnight.

Severe idle battery drain

I got the phone yesterday, I set it up but haven't transferred my sim yet but I've noticed that the battery drain when idle is quite severe. I've only done the OnePlus transfer. And WiFi has always been on. But this battery drain is not got at all.
Can anyone please advise how to improve it. In fact , I had put it on battery saver mode and it still drained. For example at 10% decrease over 7 hours is not good. I expect a 1-2 % decrease overnight.

Try uninstalling OnePlus Switch. You don't need it if you've set up your device already.

This is just how this phone works, and I recommend you to not expect what you experienced before with your previous phone would happen on this phone. I don't know if one can use Greenify's aggressive doze function without rooting, but it definitely improved the battery drain overnight by a lot on my 7T Pro non-5G McLaren.

Battery indicator misalignment with battery stats

Hello all,
I recently got a battery replaced for my poco F1 .
The battery is currently giving me almost 5 hours of screen on time which feels less.
I discharged the phone till it switched off and charged it back to 100% to have it calibrated. Although, after I kept it on standby overnight for almost 5-6 hours, I observed the battery drained to 91% without any significant activity.
I performed some analysis by visiting the battery and performance area but found mismatch in the power consumption here and what the indicator shows.
In the attached image , my battery is down to 1% but the power consumption shows almost 2007 mah consumption i.e., 51%.
Can anyone help in letting know if it's a problem with software or the battery is weak? Because my phone switched just mins after that.
For the latter case, even if it is then shouldn't the consumption show nearly 99% consumption of the battery has less juice?
Is there any way to know if really the battery is weak or a fake?
