LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
Introduction:
This is the unofficial Lineage OS thread for the Moto G7 Plus, codename lake.
We support all the T-Mobile, International, and Project Fi variants, as their bootloaders are unlockable, while we can't support the Verizon and AT&T variants, as their bootloaders are permanently locked.

Latest build || All builds
Recovery
Official TWRP
GApps
OpenGApps || arm64 - nano version recommended
Installation:
Download the ROM and GApps from the links above.
Boot the latest twrp.img (or reboot the bootloader and then to twrp if already installed).
IF YOU ARE COMING FROM STOCK AND WANT TO INSTALL CUSTOM ROMS FOR FIRST TIME, INSTALL THE copy-partitions-AB.zip (to avoid bricking)
In TWRP, click "Wipe", "Format Data", then type "yes" as prompted.
Flash latest build of lineageos
Flash latest twrp-installer zip (to keep twrp installed, it'll flash to both slots)
Reboot and let ROM boot once (It is necessary to reboot between ROM flash and GApps/Addon flash due to verity/slot-swap logic.
Reboot back to the bootloader and then recovery
In TWRP, click "Wipe", "Format Data", then type "yes" as prompted
Flash GApps (and Magisk if you want root) and Reboot
Profit
Notes:
Lineage OS builds will not pass CTS/SafetyNet -- due to the AVB flag's "red" status. (Magisk works fine, though is not supported.)

Great! Can't wait to try this....
...And to be able to build it on my own too, so I can patch it for microg (and wireguard) natively
Thanks for your work.

Many thanks @Jleeblanch!
It's definitely faster & smoother than stock, and everything is working fine except for passing ctsProfile in safetynet as noted, also keep getting the SD card setup notification on every reboot, but very minor stuff for an initial release of the first ROM created for the G7 Plus. Camera works with no errors, there are several Moto gestures, advanced reboot & other useful customization, really a nice job! I don't currently have a SIM in it so can't speak to call quality & such.
Since July my device was stuck either in a damaged bootloader with fastboot commands not working (thus unable to flash any firmware) or an early version of TWRP without touch working, also couldn't boot to system so was basically dead in the water. ADB still worked in recovery however, and I recently found a 'adb reboot sideload' command that starts an ADB sideload session without needing any touch, then I was able to sideload twrp-installer-3.3.1-v6.0-lake.zip to get a functional TWRP again! The device could then boot to system again but it was still on 29.98.66-2 that I couldn't update either by OTA or with fastboot since commands still not working. Apparently I can install ROMs with no problems in TWRP.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but I posted a new build earlier today (updated the Latest build in the OP ?
It was discovered that the touchscreen wasn't working in Android 10 based GSI's, so I've fixed at least that issue in the new update! However, there are still other issues that need resolving, so use at your own risk.

Wow, this came out of nowhere! Do you plan on getting it to official status eventually? If so I will migrate to this as soon as the Moto update support ends!

Wow, I wasn't aware of this thread. Great work as always brother! @Jleeblanch . Let's hope to have a great experience in the G7 community.

Guessing you figured out the LED light situation? Should only be on when device is plugged in. You can also changes that in > Apps & notifications > Notifications > Battery light/Notification light
Mobile data works for me and everyone else. Would need more information including at minimum a radio log to debug. Have you checked to make sure your APN settings are correct?

Apologies about that, yes figured that one out, still working on this one. I should have said its not working for me. Im new to all of this. The was very log so I did last 100 lines or so. Let me know if there's a better command. I played around with APN setting but wasn't much to do from what I know...
Any help would be appreciated! thanks.

Apologies about that, yes figured that one out, still working on this one. I should have said its not working for me. Im new to all of this. The was very log so I did last 100 lines or so. Let me know if there's a better command. I played around with APN setting but wasn't much to do from what I know...
Any help would be appreciated! thanks.

Unfortunately, what you did post of the log is mostly just about NFC ?. Check the Lineage Wiki section "how to capture a log" which explains how to get a log on the device or using ADB. Either one will work.
As far as APN settings go, you just wanna make sure it's the same as on stock

Ok thanks. It says LTE but the bars have a little x on it. Not sure what stock APN was but it is using pda.bell.ca which is my provider.
I cant upload a external link link to radio.txt yet. ill have to wait/make more posts. Thanks!

I also only have the option to "Reset to default" in APNs. There isn't an option to edit or add new. Is this normal or is there a setting I need to change?

I got your log, thanks. I'll take a look and let you know if I need any more info.
If you're able to edit your APN settings on stock, I would assume you'd be able to on custom ROMs too.

I didn't attempt editing or adding APN prior to flashing, but have seen others running Android 9 with this capability.

Greetings from Mexico!, So far so good, it's been a pleasure to use. For updating the rom I just do a dirty flash or what do I do?

Will this work for other variants of the G7? Like the Power by chance?
I'm guessing not but thought I'd ask.

Of course not. G7+, aka Lake, is powered by snapdragon 636 whether the Power has got the snapdragon 632. It also has got totally different hardware than G7+

Also another question, in the notes is mentioned that magisk is not supported, that means we cant root or have a safety workaround?

wifi not turning on android 4.2.1

I have Micromax Canvas HD A116 running android 4.2.1 version.from last few days it started giving wifi problem. When I try to turn on wifi, after some time it goes to off position. but It still shows the message "wifi turning on".
I have experience on java and related frameworks, but very less understanding on android system. I tried to debug the mobile using adb logcat. It shows the below thing:
E/WifiStateMachine( 507): Failed to load driver!
D/WifiStateMachine( 507): setWifiState: unknown state
Just curious if anyone have faced such issue and possible solution

Thanks for your reply. But I would like to know looking at above logs what is the problem. And why it has been failed.
I dont want to try some random rom without knowing what exactly the issue is?

Heya,
Attempting to flash any rom on a cherry mobile flare s4 which uses MT6753 chipset fails to boot resulting in endless loop animation.
The adb logcat shows the problem right on the first few lines of the logfile:

I don't know what that is but i suspect this is the reason /system/bin/bootanimation keeps on going forever.
Any fix ? thx.

Wifi disconnections - HTC desire 820 dual sim

---Edit---
Added logcat information
------
Hello everyone,
Facing issues with Wi-Fi in my HTC desire 820 dual sim phone.
I have already reset my phone three times but to no avail.
The details of phone are as follows:
Model; ; HTC desire 820 dual sim (India)
Android version : 6.0.1
Software number : 3.17.720.3
Kernel Version : 3.10.49
Build : 3.17.720.3
The phone is not rooted and has stock recovery (which i could not access to clear dalvik cache).
---ISSUE ---
When I turn on Wi-Fi, the phone does not connect to my SSID.
When I click on connect to SSID, it tries to connect and after a fraction of seconds, the status of SSID goes to saved.
Removed the SSID, cleared all cache apps, and scanned for SSID.
Once found, entered the password to connect, but then again it just goes to Saved. Even after using Static IP configuration it does not conenct.
However, intermittently ,the phone connects to the SSID and then disconnects on its own.
There is no time pattern for this. sometimes it may connect for hours, while sometimes it may connect for a few seconds and then disconnect . Every time the SSID status goes to saved.
---TROUBLESHOOTING DONE SO FAR- ----
I dialed the code *#*#4636#*#* and went to wifi information
1. Wi-Fi App --> disconnect, getconfiguredNetworks, getConnectionInfo options do not work. oOnly disableNetwork and enableNetwork work. Tried entering my SSIS for enableNetwork, but did not work.
2. Under Wi-Fi config, it shows my earlier SSID, which is not in use now, and also the multicast SSID which i got while configuring my streaming device.
Under my existing SSID, it shows disable ID : 4
The old SSID's do not even show up while scanning anymore but are listed above..
I have reset my phone three times but still the issue persists..
---POSSIBLE CAUSES / FIRST TIME OCCURRENCE OF ISSUE---
I can recollect that this issue started coming after there was an issue with Exchange Services , google play services and Gmail application (cannot remember the exact issue now), where they were giving continuous pop -ups that the service has crashed.. I cleared cache for play services ,exchange services and gmail , disabled all of them after which the pop-ups disappeared.
After phone reset and upgrades, there were no pop-ups from these services but wifi started giving problems.
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to describe things in detail .
Thanks in advance for helping.

# LineageOS
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

[RECOVERY][SM-T820][SM-T825][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP for Galaxy Tab S3
# How to install
Unlock the bootloader.
Download TWRP and flash the recovery image via Odin.
Download LineageOS 19.1 for Galaxy Tab S3.
Be aware of the board name.
Download GAPPS for Android 12L and the others you want to flash.
Enter TWRP recovery.
The first boot to TWRP might be very slow because of the unmatched file systems.
Format the whole system, data, cache partitions using the format menu.
You will type `yes` to do that.
Flash the images.
If you're going to install GApps or something, you have to install the LineageOS first.
Reboot the system.
Done.
# Known issues
Camera somewhat buggy
The built-in camera application (Camera2) is not working well. You can use another camera application like OpenCamera.
Sometimes the camera doesn't work after booting. You can fix that back by just rebooting.
After using the camera application, the Torch tile on the quick settings not working. But you can use the camera anyway.
On webcam chat apps, there is a vertical green bar and the color is not properly displayed.
Audio bugs
No sound for the microphone and speaker in voice calls, such as the regular phone call or voice chat with a meeting app.
Thank all of you for the feedback

Fixed the boot failure issue for some users
It is related to the Keystore of the Android system, I did a little compromise to make it work for all users
If you are using the first version (220320), you have to clean install to this version or you may fail to unlock the screen , you have to boot into TWRP and remove the file `locksettings.db` under `/data/system` directory. This will resolve the unlock failure issue after dirty-flashing it.
Thanks for this information, David Becker.
2022. 3. 20
Initial release
## Special Notes
You must do clean-install if you are willing to upgrade from another ROM such as an Android 11 based one
I have tested Magisk 24.3 working
You can fix SafetyNet using Magisk modules, SafetyNet Fix and PropsConfig
You can hide the soft nav buttons on the bottom bar. This is the workaround.
1. Go to "System -> Buttons" and check "Enable on-screen nav bar" to enable soft nav bar temporarily
2. Go to "System -> Gestures" and set "System navigation" to "Gesture navigation"
3. Go back to "System -> Buttons" and check "Enable on-screen nav bar" again to disable soft nav bar and enable hardware key.
You can hide the bottom Taskbar. This is the workaround.
1. Go to "System -> Buttons" and check "Enable on-screen nav bar" to enable soft nav bar temporarily
2. Go back using navigation bar and go to the "Buttons" menu again
3. Then we can see the "Enable taskbar" option that we couldn't see before. Disable that option.
4. And disable "Enable on-screen nav bar" option again to use the hardware buttons back.

Yes it is If you want the best stability the answer is always the stock firmware or a stock-based ROM.

I MOST regretfully say you're mistaken. I had that before @Awesometic released 18.1 and it was MUCH slower and less responsive.
The 18.1 has gotten nothing but praise from all who use it. I have a T820 and can't try the 19.1 yet but looking forward to it;
ETA on the T820?
And BRAVO!!!

Good!. Very good! I installed my pad (s3 lte) and good working. lte is also working.
If someone install this OS & google service, do not reboot after finish OS install.
Before reboot, must install flamegapps and reboot.
Or else, a pad is bricking.
I tried several times..... and succeed.
Thank you so much Awesometic.

Before reboot, must install flamegapps and reboot.
Or else, a pad is bricking.
I tried several times..... and succeed.
Thank you so much Awesometic.

thanks for the tip, i'll try this later
I uploaded the new T820 image. Please test this one, wifi version users.
By the way, it seems like it is not that all the users can use my LOS 19.1 image. I need further investigation, if you are using T820/T825 and if you can't pass the boot logo screen then let me know the symptoms and your device information including the base firmware version. Logcat would be the best.
Hi there,
I have the problem that the tablet does not reconnect to the wifi when it is switched on or exits airplane mode.
Can you help me?
Regards Chris
Thanks Awesometic!!! Enjoy your coffee.
I got it working on my SM-T820 Wifi on my second try, and total time from start to finish was under an hour. I'm getting better at this...

Thanks very much for this very good advice. The reason that my first attempt failed was because I rebooted between the OS install and the GApps install, and it got stuck on the LineageOS logo after I installed FlameGApps.
Find of frustrating how the steps are inconsistent though. With LineageOS 18.1 and OpenGApps, I had to make sure I DID reboot between the OS and the GApps install, otherwise it wouldn't work. With LineageOS 19.1 and FlameGApps, I had to make sure I DID NOT reboot between the OS and GAppsInstall, otherwise it wouldn't work. Not blaming anyone; that's just the way it is when dealing with unofficial builds, but it's still nerve rattling when I think I might have bricked my device.
Thanks for the coffee
Yeah, I got some feedback about that issue. Currently, for this ROM, it is better to install the ROM and GApps at once, without rebooting between installing them.
Thanks for confirming that

Hello,
I need a logcat file while the issue occurs.
For me, I can use the WiFi after switching the airplane mode.

Thank you for all this great work !
I installed it on my T820, I encountered no installation problem and now the rom is running perfectly and fast since yesterday.
In TWRP I formated everything before install, installed the rom, then the gapps without rebooting. Then reboot to system and voilà
Hi Awesometic. Thank you for your hard work.
I tried to flash Lineage OS 19.1 sadly couldn't get past Samsung Tab S3 logo.
Device: SM-T825
Baseband Version: T825XXU3CTA1
File system: ext4
I attached log file which I took while it was stuck on boot logo.

Daydream APK mod to bypass incompatible device modal

Hey everyone,
I've been trying to create a modded Google VR Services APK to bypass the incompatible device modal that the Daydream app shows.
I've been following this comment by OrBy so far, and I have had limited success.
Using the Google Play version of Google VR Services, the Daydream app was rendering the river, trees etc + the controller connection popup properly, albeit with an "Incompatible device" modal on top of it.
Using APKLab in Visual Studio Code, I was able to replace the mentioned strings, build and resign the APK successfully. I had some issues installing it but once I removed the Play Store version it worked.
However, with my build of Google VR Services installed, the Daydream application continues to render the river etc and popup except this time with "Google VR Services keeps stopping" on top of it. Closing the keeps stopping popup turns the Daydream application fully black until it is restarted to observe the same behaviour.
I'm not experienced in Android development but I've had this headset for a few years (Daydream View) and I really don't want to root my phone.
Thanks in advance,
ninjadev64
My controller doesn't pair but otherwise, this is what worked for me.
Uninstall Google VR Services (optionally clear Daydream storage too)
Use `adb install` to install OrBy's apk. What I did wrong before was I forgot to remove my Play Store version of GVR so this install failed as the apk is an older version.
The reason you use `adb install` is because it gives a more detailed error message if it fails than the normal installation menus on Android.
Launch the Daydream application and perform setup. It will ask you to grant a lot of permissions to GVR, including NFC. If your phone does not have NFC, enable Daydream Settings > Developer Options > Skip VR Entry Scenes after allowing the other permissions.
Hopefully it worked? Enjoy Daydream if it did! My controller still doesn't pair but at least it got past the "Incompatible device" modal.
I've found the cause of the crash in my build of GVR. Anyone know how to resolve this?
