Software Update to 850MUBUBOB1 - any difference

Just did a Software Update from regular phone menu.
I am on Factory Unlocked Alpha 850M on Metro PCS/Tmobile.
Did the download , notice no changes, it was a 40 meg file OTA- may use more Battery but too soon to tell.
I also tried the Samsung push update service App Update from Google Play but seemed to heat up the Phone so uninstalled Update.
Any experience with these ?
Thanks.

That is currently the latest 4.4.4 official ROM for our G850M . Hopefully Samsung will release Lollipop on ours within the next couple of weeks.
Thanks - after removing the Sim and Battery and restarting ...seems like my Battery Life which was good before is even better now ...so maybe the Software Update actually did help the phone.
Is 850M a carrier model or unlocked model sold by Samsung directly? I thought its the latter and so 850m might have received lollipop already
It didn't. It's factory unlocked. North American octa core. They've released 2 Kitkat 4.4.4 updates in the last 2 weeks. I'm guessing it'll be à while. (I hope I'm wrong)

Ah ok now I'm wondering if I should get 850m or 850f to use on tmobile. I'm on wifi for most part of the day and so low data speeds when not on wifi will be ok but I don't want to be on a model that will get slow updates or not even a published schedule for updates
in that case the att quad-core got the lollipop first. Better get that lol
Well the 850M has all the Bands for Tmobile/ Metro PCS except the emerging Band 12 so that is the one you want. Factory Unlocked with Wolfson Audio chip louder fuller speaker
Another choice for Bands is the Canada Bell Alpha but have to be unlocked and is qualcomm no wolfson audio .

Why do not I have it?
Try changing the time on your phone ahead 24 hours. The update button only checks the servers a maximum of once every 24 hours.

I am currently in Hanoi, Vietnam. What is the faster time zone in the US? And if I need to change to which time zone?
You may actually need to be connected to AT&T in the US to receive the OTA. I would try changing the date & time settings to manual vs network. Then, set the date for 2 days from now.
The build number is R16NW.G930AUCU4CRE4. I believe someone posted the same version on XDA.

I am tempted to go back to 930A firmware to try it, but with 930U my battery life is great and the phone feels alot smoother. Hope by the end of 2020 we get it for U.
I stay with the AT&T firmware for the Wifi calling. So far, Oreo runs very smooth on the phone, and battery life is not worse than before (maybe better once I stop playing with it so much)

Any chance that the Cricket G930AZ will get this? If not, couldn't the AT&T G930A firmware flash over to the AZ? Should be identical phones, as they run on the exact same network, and Cricket is owned by AT&T.
Anyone able to pull the firmware for Odin
Yep it is Out for S7 & S7 Edge. Got it also. https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...7-edge-now-receiving-android-8-0-oreo-update/
Any apps confirmed working to disable system apps like package disabler
Any way to force the ota, changing date Is not working
Been running the leak for a while now idk if i wanna grt it ota already did so much to it haha
For those who have the updates are you seeing the same bugs as we have seen before in leaks , also to devs ,many devices that have been updating to oreo through ota have been getting bootloaders unlocked, are we going to see the same symptoms as other phones as it was a bug in the pixel phone when it came out I believe
At&t S7 edge unlocked for straight talk plan. After update to 8.0 Oreo I can no longer give or recieve pictures in texts unless on wifi. Any clue as to why? My settings haven't changed in years. Thank you for your help.

You need to update your APN settings for Straight Talk and then set that as your default APN, I have to do this as well when running the AT&T firmware.
I pasted the correct APN settings for Straight Talk below. You can find APN settings in connections/ mobile networks/access point names
FIELD SETTINGS
APN: RESELLER
AUTH_TYPE: None
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS PROXY: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS PORT: 80
MMS_APN_TYPE: default,mms,supl

there hasn't been any update to any of the aosp pie ROMs in the past 2-3 months. If you had tried previously within this period then there is no change.
How long back did you try aosp ROMs?
you are probably referring to this bug: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81200359&postcount=7

No. But you didn't say you were on Verizon. We guessed.
Verizon users will only be able to use V30 AOSP custom ROMs for another year. End of 2020 (was delayed until then) Verizon will shut down 3G CDMA and VoLTE doesn't work on V30 AOSP custom ROMs.
Originally CDMA was supposed to be shut down end of 2019, but back in July/August Verizon announced they were delaying until end of 2020.

Just the ones mentioned in my Root Sticky Guide. But since you're on USS98, not T-Mobile H932, that doesn't apply to you.

well ****.. guess ill just rollback or just reflash the latest update of LR and see if it happens again and if it does either come back to this thread and try to find a solution as to why it happens or just use the method that was mentioned earlier in the thread, or just not use AOSP roms for 9 anymore

Verizon Galaxy S9+ on At&t (VoltE ?)

I just picked up a brand new Verizon S9+ at Walmart and it's working fine on At&t Prepaid. Model # is SM-G965U and it's still running Android 8.0. Been hearing rumors that it may soon not work on At&t if VoltE isn't working. Do I have any easy options to get it working or do I need to flash new firmware???? Problem is I've never done anything like this before so I'm not very comfortable with it.

I've heard of this working with Sprint so I'll give it a shot on Monday. I've checked the menus pretty good and don't see any option to enable VoltE in the main setting menu or the calling app.
Interesting. Started updating my Verizon S9+ and left my At&t Prepaid sim in it. After a few updates I got a message that a new sim card was detected and it proceeded to change this phone from Verizon to At&t. All the Verizon apps/bloat were deleted and all the At&t apps/bloat were added. Even the startup splash screen updated to At&t on reboot. Just tried a call and it showed 4G which I believe shows that VoltE is now working!!! Still gotta make it from Android 8 to 10.

These phones are multi csc based on the sim. Att may still see it as a byop and all features may not work but I guess they claim volte on byop capable will work. A verizon samsung s series is not just a Verizon model. It's a us model and as long imagine its unlocked the sim tells the device who it is for and personalizes for the network automatically

Outside US Android 13 V600AM AT&T

Hey! Guys. I live in Thailand and recently bought an LG V60 V600AM from Aliexpress. Everything was great and I had no problem using my AIS operator. The problem is the phone came with Android 10 and the latest Security patch updated is 2020. The question is can I get an OTA or some way that will get my phone to Android 13? I read it on the AT&T forum, I heard if you don't use an AT&T sim, you would not get an update. Is that true? That's so ridiculous. I should go with T mobile or Verizon instead. Sorry for my confusing English tho rarely use it on a daily basis.
Yes you can restore backup for Awe, but OTA no possible
