I thought I made some changes to other system apps which triggered this as I removed all bloat

No it's not an issue with removing bloatwares. Just wait for custom os/rom(if this device ever gets a stable build in future)

It's the night mode on screen settings. Every time night mode (blue light filter) activate or deactivate, the screen animations get reset.

Bell i757m screen turn on issues

I've got this weird issues with CM9 on my phone. Occasionally when I try and turn my screen on itll do the CRT animation off, so essentially the power button will turn my screen on for a second, then off. Any suggestions? I have a SGS2HDLTE I757m from Bell Canada using CM( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740188&page=2 )

I wish it had it's own section but unfortunately it does not. The mods have approved all discussions and ROMS be posted in this forum. There's really only one port of CM9 for this device anyway, theres not enough development on it to give it it's own forum.

Disable crt animation, which is probably not yet perfect for the CM9 you are running.
This is how to disable crt animation:
- Goto Settings - Development option
- change "Animation duration scale" to 0.5x
Done
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII

Thanks for the reply! I turned off the CRT animation under device > display> and unchecked enable "Screen off animation" but when I go into developer options I dont have "animation duration scale" I have "windows animation scale" and "transition animation scale" which I can set to 0.5x. I'm guessing it's transition animation scale you want me to change but I want to make sure of this.

No need again since you already disabled crt animation.
The option is available in Jellybean.

Hi again, I thought this fixed the problem but it happened again today. This time The phone would turn on but be unresponsive at the lock screen however if I did a long press on the power it would show me the reboot screen... Occasionally it would respond to some of my PIN button presses but it was very laggy and would take a long time. Anyone have any other suggestions, I REALLY don't want to reflash touchCrap ICS.. Just a side not ive flashed this phone 3 times already and had the same issue.

Changed min CPU speed from 384MHz to 432MHz using the ONDEMAND governor. Do you think this is for sure a kernel issue? Can I re-enable the CRT animation and lock screen? I disabled both and so far today it hasn't happened at all, but if I can I'd like to re add the animations. Thanks a lot for your input, Hitting thanks again!

Yeah!, In GT I9100 custom kernels, We now have touch boost. Touch boost increases the GPU speed to a much higher level when the screen is turned on. This prevents lag and unresponsiveness of the touch screen.
The CRT animation depends on you. The bug you reported initially will still be present anyway.

Worse transition animations after Oreo update

Hi all,
just wondering if anyone noticed,
after the Oreo update I don't see as smooth transition animations as before,
it is easily visible when you set Transition animation scale in Developer options to 2x (for better demonstration) and then try to select app from recent list of app from background. The app should be selected in lower part of the recent screen for better effect... this animation of maximizing window is not very smooth...it's like jittering...
Didn't see that on Nougat...
Disable HW overlays (Always use GPU for screen compositing) option solved the issue, but I think it also drains a bit more battery.
I did factory reset and noticed it right after the first boot so it seems to be firmware related.

The ones that didn't catch the 11.0.7.0 update, and that was a lot of users, have a longer change log.
And they still didn't solved Mi Sound Enhancer and Bluetooth peripherals collaboration albeit big part of population have exactly those peripherals!

If you just look a little bit further than your nose you might understand the reasons for delay.
I was not expecting an update this soon since many has to stay at home in China.
I updated yesterday and for some reason my stock wallpaper (the one with the mountain) used to be dynamic and change throughout the day (sunrise, sunset, night, etc) and now it's fixed on the night time, if I disable dark mode the wallpaper goes back to being daytime. So it's pretty much a static wallpaper instead of a dynamic one, is there a way to re-activate the dynamic one?

Did You look at \Settings > Account & Sync > Xiaomi Cloud > Home screen backup ?!
If not, then "old" and "broken" Home screen is always restored so my advice will be to delete those backups and then try again and see will You have any issue with this!

I'm pretty sure I had no backup because I had to setup everything from scratch again, google did restore apps, contacts and such, but home screen, system settings and such I had to do from scratch.

In Your place I would check this more closely because if I remember correctly this restore behavior is set as"default" for "Home screen" and this item is constantly restored during ROM upgrade or reset.
Just checked, it's disabled. Right now if I disable dark mode the background stays at night time (its almost 8pm so that's normal) i'm going to check tomorrow to see if the problem persists.

Thank you.
Just checked the issue with the wallpaper, if I disable dark mode the wallpaper works just fine and cycles throughout the day as it should, as soon as I enable the dark mode it forces the wallpaper into night mode. Happened with this update, factory reset didn't fix it and I tried to look for an option but couldn't find anything. Extremely annoying but hopefully it gets fixed.

Hmm maybe this is logical and intended behavior?!
If You look more closely if one activate dark mode then whole OS "thinks" that You are actually using Your phone during night time and You have exactly this kind of behavior!
I believe that there lies Your "problem" and in fact You don't have problem at all and this function works like it should i believe!

[APP][OPEN SOURCE]S20 Advanced Lockscreen - 48Hz while screen is off

S20 Advanced Lockscreen on Play Store
S20 Advanced Lockscreen on Github
Download size: less than 1MB
Requires root.
This app will switch to 48hz when screen is locked and to 120 when screen is unlocked.
Battery saving.
Added version 1.1:
App totally reworked.
Fixed crashes.
Removed toggle.
Much easier to use.
How to disable the notification:
pham_dang:
" I think he meant when there is a notification coming --> your screen turns on = it immediately starts the high refresh rate (presumably you set it at higher than 60hz). Also when never you use Always on display, although it seems that just the clock or some notifications are showing on a completely black screen, the screen still has that high refresh rate (because you set it system-wide). What this app does is forcing the everything shows in the lockscreen and AOD to keep the refresh rate at 48hz (no matter what refresh rate you set your system at). Hope this cools down the heat guys "
Simple explanation:
-pressing power button while screen is unlocked will trigger 48hz.
-pressing power button while screen is locked and mostly black will trigger 120hz.
-anything that happens after pressing the power button (while unlocked) will be displayed in 48hz (AOD,charging status, notifications, call UI,etc).
TO DO:
Add settings so the user can choose the refresh rate to be set on SCREEN_ON (if asked).
I'm fairly sure that Samsung has 120hz implemented to be dynamic by default. 120hz on lineage feels very different because we don't have any of their OneUI parameters.
Just a hunch, I haven't really taken apart the OneUI ROMs.

The only way I could test this is by running one of my apps that reads the refresh rate from Android Studio while screen is off.The refresh rate remains the same when screen is closed. If 120 is set in settings,120 is always set (nothing dynamic).
I'm sure it feels better on your ROM.

Hello, sure. The code is there, pay attention to what is written in readme file "Full project can be found on master branch."
https://github.com/TheViciousGames/S20-Advanced-Lockscreen-ROOT/tree/master
Fixed app crashes. The app will no longer crash after enabling the service.
"Context.startForegroundService() did not then call Service.startForeground()" this was the error encountered. It's very common on stackoverflow. Finally fixed it.
If someone else has this problem,it was pretty easy to fix,all I had to do was to create a notification channel and a notification builder with an id higher than 0,basically creating a notification for the service.
New version will be released later today or tommorow.

I mean..you can change to 48hz using ADB but you cannot do that automatically while screen is off.
You would have to run the command manually (to 48 and to 120) 100 times a day,I think you do not want that

you can try something like that with bixby routines but just changing to 60hz
But, may I ask, what is the point of changing the refresh rate of the screen when it is off? I mean afaik when it is off, it already refreshes at 0Hz because, well, it is off.

Right, you could probably do that but I'm always debloating everything and 48hz is lower.

You're wrong, you probably wanted to say 0 FPS and not 0 Hz.Changing this helps with AOD,clock, notifications, etc, that's when the display is not really off.
EDIT:
I meant 1 FPS,because nothing is moving.
How does it save battery when the screen is off... the screen isn't refreshing at 120hz because its off already? Makes no sense to me?

You keep asking the same questions all over again. When the screen is off it still runs as a120hz screen. You could research how that works.

General PSA: Animation Scale 0.5x breaks AOD Fingerprint Reader

This is a really weird bug/interaction, but if you've switched the Animation Scale (or more specifically, the Window Animation Scale, Transition Animation Scale, and Animator Animation Scale) to 0.5x, to make the phone feel snappier, and also turned on the Always On Display (AOD), but find that sometimes the in-display fingerprint reader doesn't work from the AOD (the fingerprint symbol doesn't appear, and pressing your finger there does nothing), try setting Animation Scale back to 1x. At least in my case, that fixed the AOD and now the fingerprint icon appears every time.
Edit: I'd like to credit StephenAfamO on Reddit for discovering the issue and Apk07 for sharing it.
Thanks. Worked for me
Thanks for the heads up. It seems setting it to 0 also fixes the issues. Might require further testing, though. Definitely a weird bug. Hopefully, it'll get fixed eventually.
So happy I stumbled across this one! I set my animation all the way off because I prefer the snap and thought the .5 would be a happy medium. Now my fingerprint seems problem free!
