[RANT] Very angry on Xiaomi! - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Guides, News, & Discussio

I am very angry on Xiaomi. Waiting 360 hours for unlock, even after that not working - I am stuck on "Use your device a bit more" for about 7 additional days now. What a ****ty company policy. I don't like you, you make me very angry!

Buy Applel next time

@sackgnom
The first time I also waited and it was extended again. I had not used the phone but just waited for the unlock. but have noticed if the tetefon a certain time used this affects the activation.
in the other devices, I just surfed the internet in the evening (WLAN without SIM) and has always worked immediately! use your Xiaomi more often than just wait, so go around with it a bit

You still have to wait for the hours, but this version allegedly won't extend the wait time even if you don't use it.
I waited for 7 days to unlock, barely used my phone and did not get an extension.

It's normal on every Xiaomi device Get used to it.
360 hours is better than 720 that I had to wait when I've got Mi Max 3

Go buy something that isn't Xiaomi or Huawei. They have good reasons for having such a policy.

Tell me 1, just one phone brand that don't steal data.

Of course its easy to blame xiaomi for waiting that time to unlock. In fact there are getting less devices on the market which can be unlocked at all.
Unlocking bootloader means also loosing warranty. Imagine you turn on your new phone, unlocking it and speaker is not working, display flickering,
camera faulty. AFTERWARDS. this is where the real trouble begins. Even if I can't confirm that is the main reason for the wait time, it makes sense and will lower the
risks also on your side.

man, stop b*ching. Try unlocking Huawei

Nop..

No it's not about stealing data. It's about you using the device for 7 days before unlocking it. It's due to Chinese versions being flashed global and being sold in the USA as oem global devices. This isn't to Target customers it's about selling phones in the USA that aren't legit global phones. Just stay logged in on that device do not use a different account like I have 2 mi accounts don't switch it resets the timer. Don't try and trick there system it won't work. Just wait 7 days you'll get unlocked.

Think we'll get lucky again and be able to root the T-Mobile variant?

Like how it was achieved with the s8+?
What are everyone's thoughts?
Any major developers coming to the s9?
Do you really want root with no twrp and 80% battery?

I think ..... sadly not.... I just cannot get over the fact that it is sooooooooooo harrdddddd to root .. 80% battery is not for me by any means. I will do my best to curb my temptation to get this device but who knows. If google allows an unlocked bootloader, not sure why Samsung won't

Of course they deny it and blame Samsung for locking the bootloader, but I think it's T-Mobile who deliberately orders their phones with locked bootloader.

Yeah it's all of them. Carriers, Qualcomm, and Samsung. Just to collect that 10 or 5 bucks hotspot as a monthly fee. Also so they can re-sell the phone after without having the knox tripped.
They're cheap.
I can't believe I am reading all this techie stuff..
But I cannot stand this S9+ with its unremoveable default apps that just keep popping up ..
I would settle for a solution that let get rid of the FKN Games and Game icon..
I finally got rid of Bixbie… painfully...
I HATE SAMSUNG for these forced apps getting the best real estate..

would you?

Considering the severe lack of support and updates on the matter 10 pro for the USA, would you consider buying another Huawei device?

Yes, but I will not buy the US version even if it comes without warranty, I just learned that I'll never buy a US version on any Android phone, for example, Samsung phones cannot unlock the bootloader on the US version so you can't root it or install other rom, and you will get updates months after the international version, same thing happens to LG about the updates, I have the Mate 10 Pro, and I will probably buy the Mate 20 Pro on March, if there is a US version I won't be buying it
Their decision to stop providing keys for unlocking the bootloader means that I wouldn't buy Huawei again, really. They have nothing to gain from it apart from locking users into their system, and I can't stand that sort of thing in a product I bought and own.

I have no real reason to unlock the bootloader tbh. I haven't rooted a phone in about 4 years. Note 5 I rooted for hotspot haCk. That was it other than that, no real reason for me to
I won't be buying Huawei again until they get rid of the excessive background task killer, that causes problems for a number of my apps and widgets. I love the hardware, but really not keen on the software

I still don't see how people have this issue. I have no issue with background as being killed. Maybe check the launch setting inside battery in settings and make sure it's set to manually manage them.
Using Mate 10, never gonna buy Huawei again.
No promised updates (digital zoom, arcore, volte in my country, emui 8.1, camera update, disgrace front camera etc)
Idiotic background killing for battery stats (notification problems, dont care how many hour i am seeing at battery page if phone lacks basic job like app notification.)
Not using it for first time but i tought some things changed after 2 years and got my response, this is last time for sure...

I guess we must use the phone differently
It's better than it used to be, in that things sometimes work now. Yes, all the apps with problems are allowed to auto launch and run in the background, and even have 'ignore battery optimisations' set. They all worked just fine on all my previous phones.

The only way you get instant unlock (that only for the fortunate few) is when you have a Mi account already and were using some other Xioami phone connected to that. Then it recognises you as a genuine owner of POCO F1 and allows the unlock. Otherwise, wait for 72 hours.
It's just 3 days man the MI 8 guys have to wait 2 weeks lel

Log out of your current/old Mi Account.
Create a new Mi account (also necessary to associate a phone number with it) and log in with it.
Enable mobile data but disable wifi.
Go to developer options and go to Mi Unlock Status.
It will try to associate your new account with this device. Wait for it and it will give a toast notification that successfully linked.
Go back to developer options.
Enable OEM unlocking.
Press back button.
Click on developer options again and check if OEM unlocking is enabled or disabled.
If disabled, enable it again and repeat step 6 to step 9 till it asks you for your Lockscreen PIN/password.
After you enter PIN/Password, OEM unlocking will stay enabled.
Now try to unlock the bootloader using miunlock tool with new account. Your wait time should be reduced to 72 hours.

There is nothing to explain or doing anything special. When you add the F1 to your existing account, it should immediately allow you to unlock the bootloader. I have not heard of 360 hours. It was about three months to start with and then was gradually reduced by Xioami to 72 hrs.

The product head for Poco F1 Jai Mani said this on Twitter:
" We listened to your feedback on the bootloader unlock issue and have updated the policy for the @PocophoneGlobal F1. Most users should now be able to unlock within 3 days.
Please apply let us know if you are still facing problems
— Jai Mani (@jaimani) September 4, 2018"
Note it says "most users" and not all. So you and some others like you may be the unfortunate ones. Why it happens to you and some others, only Xiaomi alone can tell.
I just requested mine this week for my Mi 8 as I want to test (finally) Xiaomi.eu's MIUI port.
And all by my ignorance that I could do it in less than a month of starting to use it (November 18) but no... For some reason I never connected this particular server, which is different from Mi Cloud, etc. and now I have to wait two weeks and a day to have the approval...

There is solution for unlocking boot loader but I don't think you will try. Because the process I am going to tell will be far difficult than waiting 168hrs.
If you still want to unlock boot loader I want to tell you that you will loose your installed ROM but don't worry if you wish I will also tell how to get the same stock ROM.

The main work for bypass the waiting time is very dangerous.
Sorry but the bypass technique is not applicable for all kinds of devices.
It is real that it will brick your device if it is not done properly and may not be right thing to do.

Trying to mess with time might cause your timer to be reset over and over again. Please be patient. One week is not too long considering you'll probably have the phone for years after that.

have UK model too, delivered last week... This phone looks pretty interesting (saying this as user "old ROG 2", but what i honestly dislike is.... Extreme temperatures... i tried to activate rampage mode - this phone is extremely HOT!!!! Tested while 5-10 mins playing Celtic Heroes (144 fps - seems there's no cap so ok, i got it those temps will raise higher...) - 57 degrees of C and it still raising.... Phone is HOT, well, it's summer in my room i have about 38 degrees, but still.... Thinking about buying cooler -> FunCooler Pro 2 - which according some tester from YT is right now the most TOP... Other thing "air triggers are... well honestly much weird... They work great, but that "sensitive" spot is kinda meh and compared with ROG2 it's total downgrade.... so today i ordered some triggers on eBay and will see how it looks like to play with them.... And last thingie i noticed is their android modificated system.... I don't like it, it's weird and customization is well hard to say, but annoying in some things... I wonder in future how i will see that buy of mine if it was worth it or not.... Personally i think "gaming" phones still need some time, like about 2-3 years yet

I've also heard bad stories about the inport fees not been paid if that's the case I'll definitely be cancelling
