LG Thin Q 8 Notification Question - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I recently upgraded my old HTC phone to the LG Thin Q 8, so far I like the phone (there are a ton of features I still haven't learned yet lol), but I did notice one thing that was different from all my other Smartphone....when I get a Notification, text or missed a call I don't get a little green flashing light at the top of my phone (when the screen is off) alerting me that I have a notification/text/missed call. Is there someway to turn this light on, or does this phone not have that feature?? Someone please help me figure this out!!
Also, when I was looking at the LG Model in the Sprint store you could take a Screenshot by swiping the side of your hand across the screen, how do I turn this feature on??
Thanks so much!! ?

LG G8 doesn't have LED notification light. Almost no recent phones use that anymore. Like see least the past couple of years...
HOWEVER, you can enable the Always-on display function to see notifications icons when your screen is off.

[Q] HTC HD screen when calling

So i got an HTC HD2 recently and i found out that when making a call i want to check the time i have talking when im still talking but all i get is black screen is there something wrong with my phone?
No! the issue is the user lol
It's what is known as a feature!
It stops your ear from hanging up on callers.
It should give you a screen if you take it away from your ear for a few seconds, though sometimes it is a little slow. try pressing the home key?
Can't actually make mine stay dark when I tried.
to test it make a call and cover the sensors along the top of the phone with your finger, it should go dark then uncover and the screen should light up again.
I'd only worry if it never lights up again.

[Q] note 2 major problems

I have had my Verizon Note 2 for about a month now, and about 2 days ago i read that the processor has Vulnerabilities and mailware problems samusing is trying to fix but about a week ago i went to use my quick glance and my direct call and it wasnt working and when someone calls me i put it up to my ear the screen goes black as it should but then its stuck at the black screen i hit all the buttons cant get to the phone call if i wanted to put it on speaker or even just check a txt message i cant do anything until that person hangs up. The only way i am able to check my txt messages and stuff while on the phone is if i dont put it up to my ear.. so i restarted phone as we all would assume this would fix it well it didnt, so then i did a Factory reset thinking that would just put it back to complete stock and fix it well turns out that didnt work. My phone has never been rooted or anything and never will be. Im running Android 4.1.1 If anyone has any idea how i can fix this it would be gladly appreciated i love the motion features. Also i did the Gyroscope calibration and it didn't make any difference, my proximity sensor is on and glowing red just doesnt work like i said.
Thanks, Stephen

That exploit that you are referring to has nothing to do with your issue... And the proximity sensor does not light up as that is the LED notification light. I have this issue from time to time too and it's just that the sensor is not doing it's job properly but if you just simply hit the home button or power button real quick the screen will turn on. Other than that you may want to check some of your settings... Turn off your "motion" settings and see if that takes care of your issue then find out which one is causing the problem...
The quick glance used to work without any problems at all and i liked that, then all of a sudden one day it just decides not to work and it hasn't worked in a week now, i turned my motion off and when im in a phone call it still locked up at the phone screen i cant do anything until they hang up ive gone through the settings multiple times and nothing, i think imma go to verizon today and ***** about it

Ya something does not sound right... Do you have a screen protector on your Note 2 that is covering the sensors?

No screen protector or anything no case either, my girlfriend yanked the battery while it was on one day idk if that has anything to do with it or not cause after that happened seemed like it didn't work

actually the proximity sensor DOES light up, it's a very faint red light and it's the left one of the two little holes to the _right_ of the phone speaker, the notification LED is on the left of the phone speaker. This light turns on when in a phone call to indicate that the sensor has been activated.

[Q] Backlight faulting

Has anyone else had issues with their back light faulting? I've searched and have seen that other sprint evo lte users have had issues with screen flickering, but my problem seems to be more serious that that. when i wake up in the morning the screen is blank. thank god i have a custrom rom installed and can manually mess with the status bar slider to get the backlight to turn back on. It just needs to be tweaked here and there. the backlight seems to only like to work on full brightness, if not, it will flicker like crazy. if i press with more pressure on certain parts of the screen the backlight turns off completely until i remove my finger. I dont think its a proximity issue since it'll just flicker sitting on a desk. Do I need to replace the screen? is this worth it? i havent dropped to phone or anything for this to default. I can upload a video later. gonna use my OG evo for that which is still kicken by the way
I realize this thread is incredibly old, but did you ever find a solution to the flickering problem? I just started seeing the exact same behavior, including the screen going dark when putting pressure on certain areas of the screen.
Thanks!
I have a PJ75100 doing this, but the screen does not function at all. I get the orange/green light while charging, and if I power it on it acts as if it's doing it's regular startup, but nothing shows on screen.
I did update the stock firmware with the latest release ruu, but still no screen.
I'd really like to get this one going as it's not the normal Jewel, it's the white and silver one, and my girlfriend wants it to replace her iPhone 5c.
Sent from my EVO using XDA Forums Pro.

[Q] How to enable clock on S6 edge screen in sleep mode

On my S6 edge I have on occasion seen that the black sleep screen suddenly showed the clock in big numbers (not the edge clock), and the faded away.
I know that I can get to see the edge screen by swiping up and down. But for the life of me do not know how to get the clock to appear on the sleep screen.
I have tried the home button, volume buttons, power button but all of this basically just turns the screen on.
Any suggestions?
in edge setting.

That screen should only be possible with the Clear View case on. Are you using any type of case with your S6?
There are magnets inside the Clear View case which the phone uses to detect when the cover is closed to display that screen.
There might be a bug with your phone if that is happening.
Do you have any strong magnets around your phone, like a speaker or anything, that might be setting it off? But even so, that still shouldn't happen since Clear View cases also have an NFC chip to enable that functionality to ensure that just normal magnets won't set it off (and to prevent fake cases and counterfeits).
Are you rooted and have some tweak installed that you forgot about perhaps?
That's the strange thing. It did show and I do not have any case for the S6.
No it was not close to a magnet.
It is not rooted.
Thx for the reply

That's very strange. Are you able to take a quick picture of it when it happens, I know that'll be hard to do.
Are you sure it is the exact same screen as the Clear View Case screen? Maybe it's something that looks similar, for example if you have a dark lockscreen.
Do you have Air Gesture Wakeup turned on (where you wave your hand over the screen and it turns on)? On the S4 you could make a similar screen turn on by using Air Gesture but on the S6 it takes you straight to the lockscreen. Maybe it's that in combination with something else?
I've been trying myself to get that screen to come on but without seeing what the actual screen looks like I'm out of ideas.

Thx for trying. Taking a screen shot would be difficult as it comes on only for a few seconds. Haven't seen it for the last few days strangely enough.
I got the same thing yesterday, it even had the edge tabs lit up from messages I had waiting. No case, but my phone was close up my laptop when I saw it, maybe a magnetic field thing??
That happens when you have a message or email or missed call from one of your 5 edge contacts. The pull out side menu also bulges out with the color of the contact. Very cool feature!
Thx that must be it. SOLVED

I just realized that yesterday, but I noticed that it only works when the phone is laying down and your really need to pick it up quickly, if I slowly/gently pick up the phone, that feature doesn't activate. I also noticed that it likes to shut off fast, even interacting with the bubble, you gotta open up the app quickly as the screen doesn't give you time to actually read what's on it.
If Samsung tweaks that a bit to active more easily and keep the screen on a few seconds longer, it'll be a nice feature.
The occasional clock still happens on my phone
I just bought a Galaxy S6 edge+ two weeks ago... and the case I ordered for it should be here tomorrow.
The face, not the edge, of the clock lighting up when I pick it up has been happening randomly since I bought it. It is usually accompanied with the phone vibrating too. So it has nothing to do with the case (which I don't have one yet), or where the phone has been sitting.
I honestly thought this was a feature, and have spent at least 10 hours trying to track this feature down. Only to learn that the online manual is already outdated for my phone. I'm not sure what came pre-loaded, but the first thing it did was a complete upgrade to Android 5.1.1. ...and that took place via Wifi, even before I was able to activate the phone.
Granted, the phone works great! I seriously love it! But, completely randomly, as far as I've been able to tell, it shows the clock on main screen when the rest of the phone is asleep, when I pick it up. Meanwhile, the edge clock works great whenever I want it. But when pulling the phone out of my pocket, I would like to see the "big clock" on the main screen without having to hit a button or swipe the screen. But correct me if I am wrong. It would seem that the only "official" way for this to happen is to buy a certain type of case for it?
My mom has a Droid Turbo. And other than the insane battery life (48 hours talk time), the other feature I really like about it is that you can just wave you hand anywhere near the screen and the clock turns on. I was hoping that this was some sort of feature of the S6 edge+ too. But I guess I am wrong about this.
Any thoughts as to why the clock sometimes comes on, but most of the time doesn't, when I pick it up?

My observation is that this happens whenever theres a notification waiting, if the phone gets picked up with a pending notification it vibrates and shows the clock with the edge tabs visible too. Has anyone found a way to turn this on at will?

face keeps touching second screen when talking on phone

Does anyone else have this problem? Everytime i pick up a call, my face will inadvertently touch something on the second screen and open another app. it doesn't affect the call, but it's just annoying knowing that when i'm done with the call, my phone will have the camera open or in another app that's in my second screen shortcut. i know the V10 has a sensor up top that turns off the second screen when covered, but it just doesn't seem to work fast enough, because everytime i put the phone to my face, it opens another app.
am i doing something wrong? has anyone else here experienced the same problem?
Same here. I had my signature (name) on it and it always take me to edit signature page. So i have to disable it and i put recent app and app short cut only. And i notice when we are on call they dont show up.
mine turned off during call if i put my phone to my ear. there is proximity sensor which should turn off your both screens when it is closed.
Same here as well, I need to point the phone angle to 45 degrees from my ears to avoid activating that 2nd screen when my ear presses on it. I wish LG would fix this behavior in the next patch
May I know which model you guys have?
because on my H961N everytime i make a call or during call, the second screen turn off.. totally black.. so you won't be able to press anything.

i have the official Hong Kong version, which i believe is F600? i know the phone has a proximity sensor up top BUT, for my phone at least, it only works when the main screen is off (meaning, when the mainscreen is off, covering the sensor would shut off the second screen too). but when the main screen is on, the sensor does nothing, covering it doesn't turn off the second screen, which means the second screen stays on even when my face is pressed against it.
probably nine out of ten times, after i'm done with a phone call, the phone will have opened another app because my face pressed something on the second screen.
i love this phone overall -- it's so well-built; looks great; and the camera is the best in industry -- BUT that second screen is pretty damn useless to me. i almost never use it under day to day use and it actively gets int he way when i'm making a phone call... sigh. i hope the G5 can have V10's build but get rid of the second screen (which would make the phone a bit shorter too)

isn't HK version is H961N as the code? and Taiwan is H962 i believe..
F600 is korean?
I got mine imported from HK and it is H961N
Mine is H961N, which is the model from Hong Kong. This problem does happen when I use the application Line to make a voice call, it doesn't when I use the normal phone application.
Maybe its about the proximity censor couldn't sense our face?
same with my V10, however, it's not a problem.
