Amazfit GTR 47mm Brightness and always on display issue - Amazfit

Is there a way to apply the brightness settings to the always on display watch face.
I'm unable to see it in direct sunlight and have to turn on the watch to see the time.

GTR doesn't have always on function.
It's the biggest mistake they maid in this watch and screw up it.
I didn't buy it just for this!

It has always on display and not only that, with the latest firmware user may choose between two watchfaces: a digital and an analogic one. On the other hand, the brightness is fixed and relatively low. I imagine this is to limit power consumption

The brightness settings is also apllied to the AOD display. Just turn off auto-brightness and set it manually.

That is definitely the downside of having an AMOLED screen instead of reflective LCD like the bip. There's no workaround. The same problem applies to cellphone, but they have light sensor instead.

My aod turns off, so it is pointless. I don't know why. I need to manually boot it up with the button.

If it doesn't detect any movement for 5 minutes, it turns off. It's a protection measure for power saving when you go to sleep and you don't need the AOD.

I figured it was something like that. Kinda defeats the purpose tho. I ended up disabling it. When I look at the watch to see the time the main watchface pops up before I get to see the aod.
Thank you.

That's because you have the lift to wake feature activated too.
It doesn't make sense to have both enabled. Use one or the other.

Night clock / screen burn-in / developer options

Hi
I have several questions :
1. I already experienced that the night clock doesn't appear instantly when you put the watch onto the charger. Sometimes it takes a time till it appears.
2. What about screen burn from the night clock? I read about it in the forum for the first gen moto 360. Is it still a issue with the 2nd Gen 360?
3. There are wear developer options in the developer options. And there is the option "burn-in protection" (I hope it's called that way in English, I've got it on German) but it won't activate even after reboot as it tells me to do.

I disable the night clock by turning on theater mode (double click the side button). But I do this because it seems to fix the heart rate monitor from tracking the apparent 100BPM of the charger lol.
I use the Slumber app that automatically turns the screen off as soon as you place the watch on the charger.
I don't think there will be any burn in issue, since Moto360v2 have LCD screen. Burn-in have place on OLED screens only (Huawei Watch for example) since they have organic diods which degrade over time. LCD don't have this issue at all because they have one backlit light for all pixels and 'rotating' pixels. With LCD screens nothing is affected by the picture on the screen (technically). With OLED screens each pixel emits light on its own, therefore degradation of pixels is dependant on the picture on the screen (whether this particular pixel emits the light most time or not) = burn in.
Therefore night mode on Moto360 can be used safely for as long as you wish.

Hola
I tried this slumber app but it did not turn my screen off during charging. Yes, I did launch the app from the watch and ensured that it was enabled.
Am I missing something?
Thanks.

The button to enable/disable Slumber wasn't very intuitive to me. I actually disabled it when I wanted to enable it, so you may have the same problem. Try toggling the setting the other way around.
also, incase anyone noticed, slumber only puts a black overlay on top of the clock. the screen is still lit up at night, but it's black. incredibly stupid on Motorola to not let us shut off the screen.

Yes there is a problem and a big one... my watch with less than 5 months old are all burned now
Stupid setting just kill the watch

I put my watch in Theater mode (swipe down from the top, then swipe left) and the face stays off until I remove the watch from the charger and press the button to wake it.

display always on?

I know this is probably a dumb question, but I can't seem to find an answer. I just ordered a ZW2 from amazon and was wondering, is there a way to keep the display always on? I know you can turn ambient display on and off, but it still looks like it goes to a low power mode, I was hoping to keep it in full display mode all the time. And if this is possible, how much of a battery drain would I be looking at?
There are many face wich are same in active and ambiant mode, depend of the face not really of the mode
The power drain would be unusable. Probably only last like 6 hours or so.

What dersie said. Try Pujie Black watch face app. Lets you set the regular face and the ambient version. Could simply set it the same which would be a workaround to your problem

On-screen notifications with screen off?

So, the LED is way too tiny for my aging eyes (also cannot get it to change colours with Lightflow anyway). I am looking for some sort of app that can show a notification on the screen when the screen is off. I don't want the screen to turn on. I just want some sort of icon to show up. I used to use an app called NoLed that would do this. You could customize icons for different notifications, colours, timing, duration, etc. Looks like that app is long gone.
I've been trying a bunch of different "edge lighting" apps, hoping to find one that will simply light up the edges to notify my (when the screen is off). So far, none of them work the way I want (or at all).
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Thank you! That's the old app I was referring to that I used to use. Glad you still have a copy. I've just installed it, but for some reason the icons a super small. Just like mini-squares, no matter what I do.

I just went through and tried messing with the settings, in notifications settings you can change it from dot to icon which makes some bigger.

Ah-ha! Thank you so much sir!
There are several drop-in AOD replacement apps, and they work well, but... From all reports they drink your battery too much to be worth it. Too bad, not sure why Huawei didn't go that next obvious step and have control over 'per app' notifications and such. It pretty much makes the stock AOD useless unless you really, really like knowing what time it is.
Maybe give a try to this, a perfect AOD application fully customizable !

I tried this and was unable to get it to work. All I want it to do is light up the edges of the screen when the screen is off and a notification comes in. I had all the settings looking like they were correct. I chose difference colours for different apps, but no go. It wouldn't even work when trying "test". It would only work with the screen on.

Certainly a mistake in the configuration menu, because this is exactly the point of this app !
Tested and approved by your servitor right here, look at the screen shot I took when I just received a notification.

Same here.. 30% overall drain overnight.. Means at least 20% by the app itself
Just gave this app a try and it's got a few quirks to it. If I leave the "allow fingerprint functionality" after about 3 seconds the fingerprint location lights up and that's all that shows on the screen.
I also noticed when unlocking, face detection is no longer automatic. I have to double tap the screen to dismiss this app and then double tap again to start the face unlock.
Its a shame the stock aod is so terrible

The stock AOD will hopefully be better soon as Huawei in it's p30 pro latest firmware will add 3rd party access to the AOD, so developers can add functionality to the AOD.

[APP] Automate - get Always on Display to turn on only when you get a notification

I was looking for a very simple way of having AOD turn on when receiving a notification only. A quasi notification LED if you will. There was a Tasker method that was a little complicated and didn't work for me that well.
I found that another Tasker-type app does it very simply and very well and takes about 2 mins to step up. Now my AOD only comes on when i get a notification and goes off when i clear the notification.
Here's how to do it:
1. Download Automate from the Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.llamalab.automate&hl=en_AU
2. After downloading, go to 'More Flows...' in the menu.
3. Hit 'Start'
4. Search for 'AOD Manager' - the only entry found should be 'AOD Manager v2'. Download it.
5. Go back to main menu and you will now see it there. Run it! You will have to install a few other Automate add ons and allow permissions but that is essentially it.
6. It also turns on AOD when charging.
Works great!
I have nothing to do with the app or the flow - just found it and thought it is a 2 minute install that works.
Can it work if we've got the medium power saving turned on, I think it'll moan because Medium power saving disables the ability to turn on AOD
Still really cool though, thanks for sharing!

yes it works as I also run medium power savings, you should turn off AOD in settings before doing this.
Thank you for posting this! Works fantastic!
Great find? Works like a charm. This is exactly how I want aod to work!
Works great, is it possible to remove the automate notification?
attached schedule flow where you can set the time when you don't want the AOD to turn on, for example when going to sleep, add it then edit the time that suits you.

yes just turn off notifications for the app.
Very nice idea and taught! I think this should be a stock option.
Thank you.
Can you please also share how you did this with Tasker? I could figure this out myself probably, but have little time and if the task is possible to export or copy, why bother.

First, make sure that you give both app and flow the needed permissions.
Second, go to the AOD settings and make sure the AOD display mode is set to "Show always". If it's set to "Tap to show" it will not work like intended and you will have to tap the screen twice to trigger the phone to show the AOD.
Once the flow is running make sure to disable the notification for AutomateIt. Otherwise the flow will keep the AOD always on since there is a notification running all the time. Same is for listening to music, the notification will keep the AOD on.
And I suggest to disable the logging since the size of the log will quickly get huge.
When I run AOD and start the flow, AOD is always on (like the name says ) but that's what I don't want!

I don't think so but why would you? The screen is already reflective and having brightness constantly on will drain the battery severely

Is it possible to have light turned on while notifications or pressing button only during the night while during the day it will be turned off all the time?
