Hello all,
I've noticed the stock ROM for the Star N9500 seems to be pre-rooted (at least to a certain extent). e.g. cpuz says I have root access. I have double checked the internet and I'm sure I am on the stock ROM. So is there any way to make it properly unrooted?

Hmm, that's saying I'm not rooted. The question now is why do some apps say I am rooted in that case?

And is there a other Official OS, a newer one? At the moment i run " T1-701uV100R001C100B107 on it.
ps. i root it with Kingroot one click Root.

I tried the lastest KingRoot version but it didn't work.
I'm on stock recovery and my my Mediapad runs T1-701uV100R001C100B109.
I haven't tested yet. I gathered all (few) useful things.
One is latest KingRoot and then I have downloaded latest Huawei firmware which seems to be "Huawei_MediaPad T1 7.0_Firmware_T1-701w_Android 4.4.2_EMUI 3.0_V100R001C232B009CUSTC232D001_West European_Channel-Others.zip". And I am pretty sure this firmware update doesn't "fit" my device, as it's a "T1-701u".
The point is that without root and without a decent recovery, there's little to play with!

I tried to install another firmware, T1-701uV100R001C100B005, and then rooted with KingRoot (latest). It worked perfectly, but there were some issues. Front camera didn't work, and themes application crashed.
So I re-flashed the backup. Waiting for solutions. BTW, even without root, I can enjoy my Mediapad.

I can enjoy any Android device that:
has a decent recovery (CWM, PhilZ Touch, TWRP)
has a lean and mean system (CM, barebones AOSP, a few other ROMs and, to some extent, MIUI)
has no bloatware at all (minimum gapps, no branded apps, no nonsense)

I know, you're right. BTW for me this tablet is good even without all the stuff you have mentioned just because I use this tab just for navigate the internet, social networks, music and films.
Oh, I see that there isn't the Radio app. If I download an app for Radio player, is there any chance that it works?

Very unlikely!
There are only a few apps for FM radio. Spirit FM is one but I am not sure it will work on the T1-701u and am not even sure the FM radio has been wired in. GSMArena is not sure about the presence of the FM hardware...

It is not a mainstream tablet. It is just another tablet with bare-bones specs from Huawei. Plus it is run by Spreadtrum processor. You won't find any custom ROMs. Root it if you can and make it to your liking and use it. Don't waste your time waiting for a custom ROM that never was.

I flashed this, rooted it with kingo root app. Now I am able to remount /system/bin
I am used this for change the content of the "charge" file to
#!/bin/sh
/system/bin/reboot
The Mediatab boots now when I put the charger in the tablet. (For car navigation).
Works well for me. Device is a Huawei Mediatab t1-701u

I am facing the exact issue. After flashing a different firmware, my camera is not working and themes dont have nothing in it. Only difference is I dont have a backup to go back to. Would you be able to upload your backup for me? Will it work?

Sorry dude, I can't. I deleted it from the laptop where it was stored. I can try to do another backup for you as soon as I can.

I'm out of town these days, and my Mediapad is not with me.
When I come home, I will try.
BTW, try to do some search on Huawei official site. Maybe you find the firmware you need. I tell you this because the firmware is different for region to region. And that's why I've had issues installing another firmware.
Stock Recovery
Can anybody please upload the stock recovery,i tried to flash a custom recovery but it didnt work,now can't get back tk thee stock recovery.

can u use xposed framework on that firmwere???
I am trying to create a backup using twrp, so later i can try different roms to reach android 5.1 as i heard there have been a release for amlogic s802 android boxes.
i need to know the specific twrp for my android tv box, and i guess once backing up i wouldn't face a problem restoring if i get stuck with flashing a wrong firmware.
Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you in advance!

it would be interesting.. i own a box too..mx III by mbx 2gb ram and 8 gb rom... i cant seem to find a way to root it,,,

can't put lollipop in it but, rooting? i think i used kingroot or kingoroot multiple times, really multiple times so it download all packages needed to root.
Root and twrp installed
I already rooted the box and installed custom recovery....looking for custom rom now for this baby...oh and btw i am using super su replace king root...

The Team DevDigitel universal ROM could quite likely work, since it is for any Amlogic S8xx.
Assuming that you have backups etc, you could try the way I successfully upgraded my S812 box.
If you do, make sure you let us know how it went

I want to root my ZU for 1 purpuse only i want to use the appradiounchained app
but that is requiring a rooted device im not planning to use "MOD's" (not until i know what they are and how to use them)
what is the best thread for me to follow ?
I just got the phone back to factory settings

You're in the same boat as me. I just bought my 6th ultra and it came with 5.1.1
Anyways to root it.
Goto kingroot.net download it. Install it on your pc. It's in Chinese but for the most part you should know what it is. Hook up your phone via USB once it detects the phone click root. Takes like 5 mind don't unhook it til it's done.

Were you actually able to get the Kingroot PC program to work? It completes "rooting" and reports success, but RootChecker app reports no root! So it's not working, I think.

I just downgraded to android 5.1.1 installed recovery, unlocked my bootloader. Now I'm back on custom roms and supersu

Actually after posting that I found another thread and tried the Kingroot app, which surprisingly worked (unlike in the past) to root stock 5.1.1., locked bootloader and I then installed recovery & SuperSU! So I'm good, thanks!
download king root 4.5 basically this version as it allows super sume to work. Once you root it , download super sume 6.5 from blackmart not the pro one just the normal one. It will remove kingroot and install supersu.
prerequisite: bootloader unlocked ofcourse!

1 - Will Unlocking Bootloader and Performing Root Make Me Lose DRM Keys? If yes, how does it affect my device?
(The penultimate time I was left with the camera app unable to take pictures in low light and without updates via OTA). It was the Xperia Z3.
2 - Will I be able to install Gravitybox, Xposed Framework, Xposed Edge, Xposed Additions, Gesture Navigations, etc...? It's been 7 years since I've needed to root a device (the last one was the Xperia Z5), so I'm out of date.
3 - Is there a Photos and Videos widget for current versions of Android 12 or 13? I just can't bring that Widget to my new device even though I can get the Xperia Album to work normally.

I can only help with question 1 lol no you don't lose any DRM keys from what I can tell. The only thing you will lose is widevine l1 to l3

No it doesn't affect camera at all

1. You lose widevine L1 to L3, so no more HD content from prime , netflix, etc...
2. You can run Lsposed but gravity box wont work on android 13, worse it can cause bootloop and without twrp, idk if we can fix bootloop without full wipe. Idk if others module will work. Edit: lsposed work fine for me (xposed framework )
3. Idk, you may search playstore for photo widget?
so, do i understand this correctly, the trim area partition is lost and can not be backed up prior to bootloader unlocking, but you effectirvely lose nothing but widevine and the camera is not affected in any way?
No you don't lose anything from what I can tell lol also you can get widevine l1 back if you lock your bootloader and repair it with their tool

Yes, however none of them replace my dear heart widget. It has been with me since Android 1.5.

1. Idk if gravity box work on android 12 either, should check their thread 2. Google widevine L1 and see what it affect. The earth hole where i live doesnt have netflix or prime, so idc much about widevine
I just received my device and successfully unlocked the bootloader. When I wanted to root my device I couldn't find my current ROM in XPERIFIRM, I need this rom to get the boot.img file. "Okay", I thought, "I just need to flash one of the ROMs available here and everything will be fine". So I could not in any way get or generate the ftf to flash on my device via flashtool, The flashtool doesn't even recognize my device.
Can anyone give me a light? I really want to ROOT my Xperia 1 IV XQ-CT72 and keep Android 12.
About the current version, follow the number.

i just flashed a horrible chinese version and got root i think, still trying to test.
do you know where i can find other better android 12 versions based on the original rom?

I installed the apk. Then I patched the Boot.img . Installed with fastboot.

no thats correct now you need to install Fox's Magisk Module Manager
I have read about how to install Gravitybox on Android 12. However I have not been able to install EdXposed and get it working.
I couldn't install and I didn't understand why to install LsPosed.
Does anyone know a more detailed gui on how to get Gravitbox working? I greatly appreciate the help.

Gravity box wont work and may cause bootloop. And i think latest firmware is android 13. If you has CT72 i would suggest go for SEA version
Btw i forgot to say yesterday but use new flasher (google it from xda) to flash your firmware
