Stratos 2.3.10.5 HR sensor overheating and not blinking - Amazfit

Hello guys,
My HR Stratos 2.3.10.5 sensor is overheating right after turning on the watch. I had already noticed that I could not measure the pulse rate and a few days later I began to feel a slight burning in the skin, when taking the watch I see that the problem is the sensor.
Visually everything is ok and if you turn off the clock it cools again.
Has it happened to anyone or do you know how to solve it ?
Thanks in advance.

I am having the same issue, even got my skin burnt by the sensor. Have you fixed your watch?
The first time I was sleeping and I thought it was pulling my hairs from my wrist and took it off, but today after cycling it started to hurt again and when I saw the sensor was extremely hot and there was two little burnt spots in my wrist.
Was researching and saw many people complaining about it but no solution at all.

Check HR sensor conver: either it fell off or let moisture get inside the device, corroding the HR sensor. Either open the watch and remove / replace the sensor module (it won't be easy to find a replacement) or replace the whole watch.

Now that you point that out, I really don't remenber if there was a cover or not... Anyways, if that fell off, it came off without any pressure, bump or whatever... It should not fall so easily, now my watch is overheating very quickly, specially when I turn on the HR, it even shuts down. I am trying to contact the shop and Huami.
Less than 3 months using it, the watch is great besides this issue, let's see what happens.

Me too, always very careful with it, but as you can see I cannot use it anymore, tryed to contact the ebay seller/ ebay/ paypal/ Xiaomi/ Amazfit
Ended up losing my money as even if I wanted to pay to fix it, no representative here in Australia would fix it for me... Extremely disappointed with the brand.

AMAZFIT PACE - Compass

Hi! i'm Boris.
On my amazfit pace, since 1 week, my compass doesn't work anymore, and that's why my elevation gain sticks at 0..... I never let it down, i made a factory reset, update, restart... etc... nothing!!!!!
Somebody as an idea what going wrong???!!!
Thx for your answers.
Do you have a magnetic wristband?

No!!!! It works 3 months and suddenly nothing..... Is it possible that the MTB shocks break or weakens the compass? My Elevation Gain also sticks at 0, there is a relation??
THX for your answer fzelle!
Yes, when the compass isn't working, elevation isn't as well.
As it is not a mechanical part, I doubt that you can break it with riding MTB.
Tried a restart?
Yes... shut down-restart, factory reset, smartwatch and apps update....
Maybe there is a way to disable the compass after a bad setting?
It's a strange situation....
...... my air pressure is also sticking on "loading" (outside in an open space)!!!!
Maybe pressure captor's hole is clogged? It's the small hole on the side at 9H, isn't it?!?!
Too much suggestions...... i need to understand.....

If you google: "mems magnetic field sensor", you will see that it indeed IS a mechanical part.

But if you go there, even a transistor is a mechanical part that could break.

True but all those inertial sensors have moving mechanical parts inside, which is not the case for transistors :silly:
Hi there, I have the exact same problem...the compass is stuck on 0 and air pressure is loading. It has been loading for quite a few days now but still nothing

Same problem three months and GPS and altitude damaged
The compass does not show the altitude

Same happened to me and I don't know if it's related to a high battery draining (less than a day)
Can it be Software related?
the same here! battery and compass issue
I'm having the same issue. Did reset and using official FW but compass is not working and battery dies really fast. I'm outside of china and the return fees are quite high. Have anyone tried to fix it by themself? I do not have the best experience with Gearbest support.
Hi all,
I have the same situation, few hours of battery and compass stuck on 0°.
This is my experience: after a month since the purchasing, suddenly, the battery started to last max 8 hours (it was 5 days with continuous HR monitor before! ).
I asked on my custom rom Telegram group about this and the general answer was that it was due to the charger I used, too powerful for the watch, and that I had to use exclusively my laptop's USB.
Little by little, it went up to 35 hours and I was wondering if it may be resolved with a battery calibration (if exists).
Didn't noticed the compass issue at that moment, but now that I found this thread I see a correlation.

That is complete and utter BS.
It has nothing to do with too powerfull, what happens with most cheap chargers is that they have spikes in their output.
To prevent that, just use a powerbank, that's the safes option.
same problem
I also have the same problem compass and barometric pressure are also not working
SOLVED
I have some trouble, n its solved.
I have try to reset many times, not work. Try to downgrade firmware(cause i use latest), not work.
Try using small magnet(from refrigerator door accesoris) with power is on, not work.
I, ve given UP. just try to charge the wacth on flat position, try using small magnet with power off.
I didnt cek after that, but when i wear the battery life normal again, then i check compas is normaly again.
u can try
note : rotate the magnet on watch
For me, it started with new update. Anyone else?

amazfit pace after swimming pool, system blocked and blutooth off

Hello everyone, I have an amazfit pace for several months and am very satisfied.
Unfortunately, I forgot to remove it once to go to the pool and I realized under the water ....
Since the touch screen does not work all the time (I have to let it go off without battery to try to restart it), it heats and I can not put it in relation with the application of my smartphone.
I tried a new appearance to reset it to zero after doing a factory reset.
I am at the point where I have the qr code but he tells me that the blutooth is off. and I can not restart it.
and screen shows to air me off it's full of features
Do you have an idea? an advice? Or is my watch dead?
Thank you for your answers
Hi,
The water comes in more easily than it goes out.
It is therefore necessary to open the watch to dry it with a hair dryer. forum.xda-developers.com/how-to-watch-t3815716
With a bit of luck...

Throw it in a zip-lock bag with rice (not instant) for least 24 hours. See if that works. Heat is not really good for most electronics and will cause the moisture to vaporize, which could make it worst.

Stratos: Heart rate monitor broken due to humidity

Hello all,
I have an issue with the heart rate monitor of my Stratos. This is the second watch I've been using since I had to return the first that I bought and vendor gave me a refund.
First watch that I returned was because after 1 month of use, heart rate monitor stopped working all of a sudden.
Second watch that I am using now, and it just happens the same again. Heart rate monitor stopped working all of a sudden but with this second watch the new thing is that it also started to get hot and drain its battery really fast.
I think I've tried every rom and software procedure that can be done to reset the watch to see if I could repair it.
Probably there's a hardware issue but since it's the second time it happens to me I'd like to ask you if anyone had experienced the same issue and has any clue about the origin of the hardware issue.
I'm guessing somehow humidity has got inside the watch and some circuit has corroded. What I'm sure about is that I'm not buying any Huami sportswatch anymore xD!
This happened with the first watch: you have unlocked bootloader, flashed ROMs and then returned it for a refund?
About the watch, obviously it's not normal... If the watch gets warm while charging either:
a. Battery is dead (it should not happen to a new watch, unless it came damaged from factory and/or was damaged by misuse);
b. Metallic contacts from charger and/or watch are wet or dirty;
c. Bad power source: what you've been using to charge it?
Either way, flashing ROMs (specially custom ROMs) don't fix anything, it's a myth (and it voids warranty by the way, you cannot return a watch that had bootloader unlocked).
I know warrant is void. But it wasn't covered by warranty anymore so I just had to try something just in case it would work.
Thanks for your answer.
To charge the watch I've been using a Xiaomi charger from my phone and the original base provided by Amazfit.
I didn't do anything with the watch that it was not supposed to stand. And heart rate monitor stopped working twice. So I was wondering if anyone else had similar issues just to learn how and why this happens. I don't think it can be fixed, but I'm really curious about why this happens. I was a Xiaomi wearables fan until now and I'd like to know what to answer when my friends ask me why my Stratos heart rste monitor stopped working AGAIN
Finally I've managed to disassembly one of tje watches and my intuition is confirmed.
Humidity got inside the watch and corroded the circuit of heart rate monitor + battery pins.

I think corrosion got inside the watch throught the what I think is the barometer hole. There was some 'dirt' on it.
5atm watch they say... Probably not in a hot and humid weather. So disappointed with this. I really liked that watch.
Just to continue playing with the watch: Anyone think that corroded circuit could be fixed by cleaning it with an ultrasonic cleaner?
I've already tried to clean it with a toothbrush and I've been able to remove most of the corrosion but there's some of it remaining and it's impossible to remove it without damaging the components.
Water got inside a Stratos? Did you use it while showering/bathing or sauna?
On Pace it's possible to remove the barometer module, it will fix the battery drain if the cause was in the module only, of course.
I didn't use it at bath or shower and I've not been in a sauna for years.
I do sweat a lot, specially my hands. I live by the sea so I think that combined with high temperature weather plus high humidity is the cause of the humidity to get inside the watch.
By the way, there was no water inside the watch, but parts were corroded
Hi PierreBarrayon, did you manage to fix the problem. I have the same issue!

On my Stratos the heart rate monitor is broken as well.
The small rectangular glass that protect led get out the device. This certainly the entry point for humidity.
Looks like it was not well glue.
How do you manage to open the watch.

Same here the heart rate glass felt down. I did some mistakes keeping the watch in hot shower but i didnt expect that everything else is working fine no battery drain. It will be my last xiaomi wearable becouse my mi band 2 got the screen dim and barely can see on darkness.

Same here too. Days ago I felt like burning an then it shutted off, now heart rate is not working and the glass is a little loose.
Think we made the same mistake, my miband 2 screen also dimmed out...
That is a shame, they sell unfinished products and we and up buying.
Problems too
Hi there !
Had the same problem. The small disk on the heart rate monitor has come loose and the watch has frozen. After opening and cleaning everything well again. Now I have the following situation. Everything works when the clock is connected with USB. After disconnecting from USB everything works. As soon as the screen darkens, the clock freezes immediately and only a hardware reset stops the process. This is repeated after a restart.
Does somebody has any idea?

Thank you ! I can not believe it. After the heart sensor was disconnected, there was unfortunately no improvement. But then I separated the individual contacts one after the other and then the watch runs when the microphone contact is detached. :good::good:
Why is there a microphone with no function? or what is it for ?
After a few switch-on processes, the problem is back.

Stratos has no mic, probably you're talking about the barometer. If disconnecting them didn't work then I am afraid moisture damaged something else, not worth fixing it...
Do you believe this problem will occur on stratos 3? I'm interested in buying a smartwatch for fitness. I don't want any of these problems.
the same here...
the heart rate monitor stopped working after 8 month of usage... after that in 2 weeks the small glass falls off. I newer was swimming with watch (or in sauna), just only sometimes shower after treadmill or weightlifting ...
now it works without heart rate monitor.. (gps is ok.)

It looks the Stratos 3 has a bigger glass on the bottom, but iI'm not sure the problem is solved...
The HR window on mine came loose in a pool and died. I left it to dry overnight hoping it'd be ok. In the morning it was hot and the back was warped. I could hear the battery leaking. I threw it away immediately. I can't take it home from vacation on a plane to submit a warranty claim, and I don't want that thing anywhere near my wrist again. I was a big amazfit fan. Now I have a Galaxy watch active 2 and I'm not going back.
heart rate monitor
Please do not know where it can be provided? the heart rate sensor + charging connectors, it is one circuit that can be easily disconnected.
Hacking the Stratos
Eventhrough there are parts for Stratos LCD and battery on aliexpress. I am still not able to find the stratos charging / pulse sensor ribbon. The closest thing is a used Stratos on ebay.
Messaged Amazfit as well but like many owners, I have received no response.
So here is how I take things into my own hands:
1. Watch was shutting down / overheating and pulse sensor windows eventually pops out
2. Open up watch with heatgun (low heat ~ 200C) and spudger. Notice the corrosion caused by water damage.
3. Clean up the mess with 99% alcohol and flux, desolder the capacitors and apply silicone conformal coating
Glue everything back and funny thing is led blinks in continuous heartrate monitoring but I don't trust the reading and led doesn't blink in any exercise mode.
HRM on Stratos is nonsense to begin with. I have better result connecting my bluetooth chest strap with the watch anyways.
Have similar problem with the water resistant seal on a amazfit bip before, so fool me twice...

amazfit stratos shuts down

Hello to everyone, a few days ago my watch started shutting down after a while, sometimes write after boot and sometimes after 5 or 10 minutes or so. I tried reverting to stock settings (factory reset) also sync it with a new account from other phone, I even installed Everest Rom and still it shuts down after a few minutes. Also sometimes it gets very hot, all over the watch not only at the bottom or the front glass.
The watch is in my possession for around 1,5 year and it is the international version.
Same behavior, is the result of water geting in...
How is that possible , it is water resistant!?
Did you open it easily?

It was used a year, never taken off the hand unless charging., so it got into sea swiming, hot showers/baths, everything, and i did not kept it in clean water for 10 min, or what the manual says... . So all that chemicals and salt afected the seals ...
It was opened by the service guys, i sent it for waranty, which they ofcourse void it (apparantely no device is covered by waranty if liquides get inside them ... ?!?)
I will try to test if is fixable by my self.... with no water resistance...
Thank you my friend for your time and answers, I will try to open it and see if this is wrong with my watch too. Last year after every swim I did clean it up but this year I never did so maybe this is what happened to mine also.
My problem was not from getting water in

Can't really tell from the image, but it looks like there is some corosion/oxidation on the capacitors near the sensor ? (seems like some green/blue colored contacts). If so, maybe try to gentaly clean it, it could make electrical contact between components that should not be in contact.
Also look at the battery and see if there is any visible damage to it
... my battery is 0 volts, and a little puffy, i will try to see if it takes charge.
If yours got extremely hot as mine did, pls consider the safty issues of the situation

I think you are wright my friend, I 'll get back home and see it more closely and try to clean it up and see if that helps.
Well you were wright about sensor
I tried to clean as good as I could but with no luck , I also checked the battery and it seemed ok to me.
Then I decided to cut the sensor power by cutting the cable that connects to it and then booted up the watch and everything is working fine ,no shutdowns, no overheating problems and no battery consumption at all. I guess that the sensor is no longer working at all and it isn't anymore waterproof but at least I have a fully functional watch until i decide what to do. Thanks again for pointing out the corrosion-oxidation of the sensor. The only thing I cannot comprehend is how did that happen to the sensor capacitors, since there where no moisture inside the watch!?!?
Thanks again my friend!

Αnd what about overheating?
I had a Stratos for about 1 year and then it died, with the problem that you said. I can't say if it has the same problem, but in my case, was the heart rate sensor that went crazy and was making that. I was hiking and it began to overheat and shutting down and I don't realized the reason and keep trying to turn it on. I was sweating, and when we stop to eat, I take off the watch and realized that the little plastic that protects the heart rate sensor in the back, has jump of, and I think that was the reason that leave HR to malfunction. The HR was already having some crazy measures in the last times, giving alerts that I had high readings and should stop, when was not truth, I was normal, but I never concern about that, but now when I think about it, I suspect that was HR getting malfunction, that I suspect has origin in a design error in the protection that covers it. I think that is enough it began to "leaking" to HR fail

When it jump (about 2 months ago) I search a little bit and there was some people that disable totally the HR (and it continues working without HR, but I didn't even see how they disable it. If you have warranty send it for them. I didn't try do anything, in the rest it was very good, so I sell it for parts.
And made the BIG mistake of buying GTR, that GPS is bad (my bad, because I didn't realise that there was going to be a Stratos 3, and thought that GTR was the Stratos replacement)
