Mi A3 stock camera port? Really needed - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

"I have been using the pixel experience for quite some time, really miss the stock camera as nothing works perfectly as of now!
Can someone provide stock camera port (or APK) for custom roms in Mi A3?
Any help will be appreciated, thank you! "
__________________________________________________________
So with the release of the incomplete android 10 for miA3 (although rolled back, someone still might be having the fast boot rom), all of us now have the stock camera app (android 10 supported) that can be ported for any other rom, (the pro mode does not work but, we have everything else working and we can leave the pro work to the pros (i.e Google camera) ).
So if anyone succeeds in doing so, ported stock camera app will be a gift for mi A3 users. although google camera is unbeatable, but it is also very unstable and i cant rely on it for daily use! (for this phone) and ANX lacks portrait mode and slo-mo

Totally agrre I am also a very happy user of Pixel experience (great rom) but I also would like to install the original stock camera of the Mi A3 because of the ultrawide lens.

Just installing the app from Stock OS will not work; however you may try ANXCamera, it's a Magisk Module that installs MiUI camera on any OS, support of all features not guaranteed.
Available at the link below:
https://camera.aeonax.com/
It's possible to use GCam if you want to use ultrawide without MiUI camera; for that GCam must be installed into /system/priv-app or you have to change SELinux to Permissive, I recommend to set to Enforcing right after using the camera, it's more secure. You must use a compatible GCam, one that includes aux camera patches, you can find them in Xcam, Fu24's port and several more.

Thank you very much for your suggestion, worked perfectly.

Thanks a lot man!, will flash when i get back, gives me a lot of hope!.
also, ultrawide on GCam is very buggy and has a lot of noise! very bad compared to the stock, also very slow in terms of post processing.
also i can't seem to find the thanks button that adds to your "thanks meter" (not used to XDA forums)

OnePlus Camera App Complete Overview With Basic Manual Mode Overview

First of all only those with a OnePlus 2 / X / 3 / 3T / 5 on Oxygen OS ( or if you are using an OOS camera port on a custom ROM ) could actually benefit from this.
If you don't have the OnePlus Camera app then you could download the latest version of the app from app mirror.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/oneplus-ltd/oneplus-camera/
( Version 2 of the app can only be used by OnePlus 5 owners and all the versions in between and including 1 to 1.5 can be used by OnePlus 3/3T owners. )
( If you are using a OnePlus 3/3T and want to use the OnePlus 5 camera app which has better ui but has some things broken(slow mo, auto HDR) can use the app from this thread : 1
So there will be two parts of this overview, in the first one I'll show you how to navigate basic things in the app itself along with the video stabilization capability it offers and what everything it shows means and in the second part I'll give you a basic overview of the the pro/manual mode this app offers.
[ The overview(s) will be in the form of video as it would easier for me to explain and much easier for others who are watching to understand. ]
PART 1
One thing that is commendable about this app is that it offers all the basic things in a non cluttered manner which makes it easier to use and navigate.
PART 2
If you are the kind of person who knows nothing or very little about manual mode then watch this but if you are the kind of person who knows everything basic I'll suggest you to give this thread a read : 2
So guys if you still weren't able to understand something related to this topic, let me know I'll try my best to help you understand that thing better.
Btw if you are a kind of person who likes to try different apps, camera apps in this case then I'll suggest you to try these apps which according to myself are the best( All of them can be downloaded from the play store. )
Free Apps: Bacon Camera, Footej.
Paid Apps: Camera FV5 Pro, Cinema FV5 Pro.

Just an FYI, The latest version of the Oneplus Camera app seems to force close on the Oneplus 3/3T (for me at least, LOS 16)
I've tested a various older versions, and based on my experience:
Recommended version: 'OnePlus Camera 3.0.37'.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/oneplus-ltd/oneplus-camera/oneplus-camera-3-0-37-release/
Working:
+Photos
+Pro mode
+Panorama
+Settings/switching modes.
+Video
Known issues:
-Trying to use 'Slow-motion' will lockup the camera. (Can be fixed with a force close)
And it looks like the newest 'mostly working' version is "3.8.13 "
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/oneplus-ltd/oneplus-camera/oneplus-camera-3-8-13-release/
Works:
+Photos
+Pro mode
+Panorama
+Settings/switching modes.
Not working: (...for me at least, Give it a try if you want)
-Video (broken on 3.2.X and up)
------
Many other versions [Example: ones between 3.0.37 and 3.8.13] gave me various issues, such as breaking auto-rotate, not saving images at times, random crashes, etc.
So these are the only two newer versions I'd recommend.

Sorry, I did not test for that,
I already spent waay to much time test for pro mode, and basic video function.
I'd say start with versions before 3.0.37, test every 4th update or so (to save time),
once you find a version with working slowmo test the 3 later versions to see when it broke.

ROMs, Cameras, Features

Hello everyone!
Lifetime Android user here, but completely new to the modding scene. I will receive my new phone (an F1 of course) in a few days.
I have a few questions pertaining MIUI, LineageOS, Resurrection Remix, and Pixel Experience that I haven't been able to find satisfying answers about and I'd be glad if you could help.
GENERAL
1: Which one do you use, and why do you prefer it? What others have you tried?
2: What general features distinguish RR from LOS?
3: How are all of them performance-wise? RAM management and similar things.
4: Do custom ROMs update automatically (or, rather, easily)?
CAMERA
5: Is Gcam installed in the same way on all of them? Is it just an apk, compatible with all of them?
6: Is the stock MIUI camera available as a port to the other ROMs mentioned above? How?
7: Does Gcam take advantage of the dual camera of the F1 even if the Pixel just has one? How (and actually why)?
8: Are there other camera apps that you deem very good, especially for video capability? Which ones and why?
I know I'm asking much, so thanks so much in advance for any answer, even if just to one question! Have a nice day!

1. I use PE because it gives what it says, pixel experience. No need to flash Gapps or install GCam because already ships with the rom. I tried Lineage, Omni, Paranoid Android and MIUI EU
2. More customization I believe is what distinguish both
3. Same
4. Yes
5. Yes
6. Yes, Magisk module
7. No, no need
8. I just use GCam and MIUI Cam port

Thank you so much! About #7 (Gcam not taking advantage of the second camera), are you sure of that? I've heard/read that PF1's camera with Gcam mod might even be better than the Pixel 3 camera itself because of better edge detection given by the second camera, but if what you say is true why did they come to that conclusion. Is theirs just an assumption? Thanks again!

Can we use wide angle lens in gcam?

I've been searching for that a lot of time and trying lots of gcam, but no one works. I read somewhere that root users could use "aux camera settings" in some gcams for a reason I don't understand. But I think there must be a way yo use the wide angle lens in gcam, so I would really thanks if someone can apport something to this
Sapper Morton said:
First, you need to unlock the bootloader, and install a root method, like Magisk.
Secondly, you should set SELinux to Permissive or install the Gcam into /system/priv-app; that's the only way the camera will get the needed permissions to make use of the aux cameras. Furthermore, not all Gcam apps will work, you should use some Arnova's builds made to work with external lens, or just use Xcam, or Fu24's builds. If you need more, just search on XDA developers who included aux patch on their builds, better searching in threads of triple/double camera smartphones.

GCam for A10s
Hello guys, just a quick post here. I am sharing a confirmed working GCam on the A10s
Now, let's get one thing clear. This is a very old GCam of course because of this phone, up to date GCam is pretty much impossible as this phone uses 32bit camera libs
Does this camera app take better photos than the regular stock camera?
Maybe, maybe not
With very little testing, we've found that it tends to not overexpose photos like the stock camera does, so that may be something good for some of you!
Also, I want to say that I did not make this GCam, nor do I develop or work on it. This GCam was shared for J6 (another a64 device) users in a J6 group, so I just went ahead and tried it on the A10s and to my surprise it works.
If anyone knows the original developer for this, please let me know or tag them here to give proper credits, as I have no idea who it is.
Anyway, here's everything you need to know (taken directly from J6 group)
Features!
HDR+
Night Sight
Lens Blur
Bugs!
Stretched viewfinder, just enable HDR+ by default. It won't affect the final image.
Video recording is broken. Viewfinder is also stretched but can be fixed by setting res. to 720p.
Purple tint on bright parts of images. Try messing with camera values.
Camera sometimes doesn't take pictures (usually when tapping on areas)
Links!Download
Original website
Instructions!- After installing, enable and disable night sight to get the viewfinder working.
This MAY work on other phones with 32bit camera libs, so you can try it out on other devices if you like.
Please don't ask, "Does this work with my device?". Just try it out and leave a comment if it worked. It only takes a couple of minutes
thanks.

No, nobody is interested in the A10 or the A10s. This is simply something I found for my other device (J6) and decided to test out on the A10s. This GCam was not intended for this device and will probably never get an update, so I wouldn't really say that A10 or A10s has development to it.
Cant download it
Works on a Moto G7 Play
This is the only GCam I found to work with a Moto G7 Play (XT1952-4) running Android 10. This phone runs a 32-bit OS. There is no flash option. It is grayed out.

How do I install the stock OOS camera app on LineageOS 18.1?

Hi,
I use LineageOS 18.1 and a GCam mod for a camera app. It takes great pictures, however, it lacks support for some features, like 48MP images and (good) macro.
I wanted to install this APK, but as the note says, "Sideloading this APK may not work, so you may need root to install. "
Can someone tell me the steps to install it?
Just install it as a normal apk and see if it works.
Or, extract the apk from the stock rom

I don't know how to do that. Plus, getting the original OOS cam to work on a custom rom seems to be a pretty big problem, as read in this thread. I guess it hasn't been successfully ported to LOS yet. This is a pretty big issue for me as well, as I am a heavy camera user and really don't want to go back to OOS.
IMO that rom is useless without a proper camera app
There has been a previous thread on this topic, in that thread, a user mentions that havoc os has OOS' camera built in. Havoc os is a highly customisable, fast os, usually just as fast as lineage. However, no one has ported havoc for the oneplus 8 pro, its currently available for the 8t. Maybe make a new thread requesting for havoc os with OOS cam, or any rom with OOS cam, as it has been proven possible by havoc os.
Link to thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/porting-the-oos-camera-to-custom-roms.4287523/#post-85212471
There's also a thread about extracting and restoring the apk, which didnt work: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/oneplus-camera-stock-on-custom-rom.4216119/
^in this thread, on the second post, a user posts some recommendations for good camera apps, maybe give those a go.

Well, I certainly wouldn't call it useless, I like LOS very much, but the lack of a proper camera (meaning, one that supports all the modes that the original OOS camera does) is really a bummer.

The first thread you linked is exactly the one I linked to. Yeah, I may post a request for OOS camera to be ported to LOS - where do I do that? The "OnePlus 8 Pro Themes, Apps, and Mods" forum?
Thanks for the second link. So far I've tried the stock LOS camera, which is pretty good, but no 48MP, macro and RAW support, OpenCamera and 5-6 versions of GCam. GCam is probably the best, but it too lacks good macro and 48MP.

I may have jumped the gun on calling it useless. But a major oversight and deal breaker for me.
just install a third party camera app, which has the features you need (e.g. from play store)
Based on my experience of building ROMs from source, OOS camera support has to be baked in by the dev. It's covered in the jaguar ROM thread as well. There are OP specific libraries needed to support it.

You are right. AICP and CRDroid also have the stock camera but no 48mp. Even Oneplus themselves had problems with 48mp on the earlier roms for the 8 Pro.
