Lock Screen Password / Fingerprint / Pattern Not Working - Realme 3 Pro Questions & Answers

So i just got a Realme 3 Pro on A.19 firmware, after getting into a softbrick managed to install TWRP with Magisk and disabled vbmeta verity. Also flashed red flashing systemui fix and Charlie_Decryption_by_Nitish.zip (not sure what its for). So the phone is rooted, recovery is working and everything works fine except when i try to set up a Fingerprint it wont work. Not just fingerprint, i set a 4 digit or 8 digit PIN code and at the lockscreen keep trying that PIN but it wont open. I have to kill the lockscreen files from recovery after that.
I can understand if the Fingerprint is broken after unlocking bootloader / rooting but atleast PIN / Pattern should work? Did i miss something?

@4j17h Help would be greatly appreciated

Why would you flash decryption zip? Now flash enable decryption zip & format data (not wipe) then you can use lockscreen again. Also never flash decryption zip.

Questions about Decryption / Encryption of Redmi Note 4 (mido)

Dear @sachin n,
I recently installed @abhishek987 official LOS 14.1 (unlocked bootloader, flashed latest global developer, flashed twrp, installed LOS 14.1) on my and two of my friend’s Redmi Note 4 (mido) but in all 3 cases I ended up with an encrypted phone. I decrypted my mido doing following steps: started twrp, mount, checked all partitions, wipe, format data, typed in YES. But when I reflashed LOS 14.1. there were some problems with “failure to install xxx partition” (can’t remember anymore what exactly). I guess because I checked ALL partitions.
Now the questions:
1. If I leave the phone encrypted, is there a limitation in the functionality of the phone?
2. Does encryption present a problem with future clean or dirty ROM installations?
3. What is the right way to decrypt the phone. I guess start twrp, mount, check partitions (question is: which partitions exactly have to be checked!), wipe, format data, typed in YES.
Thanks a lot.

Alright, not gonna answer any of your questions until you decrypt it.
The easiest way is to FORMAT data via TWRP.
Just to make sure, boot to TWRP > wipe > tap FORMAT not the wipe!!! I mean, FORMAT! Then choose yes to format, boot up. You're now decrypted. Note that you'll lose your all Data. So, make a backup.
Done? If you're done, next time you setup fingerprint, it'll prompt to enter password everytime you boot, just click on "No thanks". That's all.

Thanks for the answer and the tipp but prior to posting this thread I had already decrypted my phone mido doing following steps: started twrp, mount, checked all partitions, wipe, format data, typed in YES.
I would be very greatfull if you can answer me these questions:

1. Not really afaik.
2. Nope, it isn't. But it's a pain in ass to enter password everytime you boot into system / twrp. So, most of the users doesn't really like the encryption.
3. Ah, as I already said, just boot to TWRP > choose wipe > tap FORMAT on the right bottom and next type yes to format. No need to check anything. :good:

Actually when the device is encrypted you can just choose to start without entering the PIN/Password, just like when the phone is decrypted.
On devices that have SOCs which have hardware decryption embedded, like the SD 625 does, it doesn't really makes sense to decrypt the device as there's no real performance penalty.
@sachin n i flashed LOS 14.1 for d first tym i.e swiching frm MIUI for d first tym....when i move to settings>security it shows me encrypted. I tried to flash LOS 15 and it asked me password i entered it and it said "password is correct but failed to decrypt please format you data". now my Q is

and when i tried to enter in TWRP it asked for password which i entered i had on my lock screen and it said password incorrect...This problem vanished when i removed the lock screen password.

Oh yeah, the password or the "default_password" doesn't works, so all you've to do is to format data using TWRP, that's gonna decrypt your phone.

Cuz when you're coming from MIUI you should do format data, that happens to everyone who wanna get rid of encryption.

After you format the device, is it possible to restore backups made by Titanium Backup? If you make a backup move it to the computer and then move it back on the phone? Or will it be encrypted and unusable?

Problem with TWRP and Beryllium.img not showing zip files

HI there, total newbie here. Looked around here and on google but didn't find a solution.
I'm following various step by step guides to install Android Pie on my Poco F1 but I get stuck once the phone boots up in TWRP and asks me password, I cancel and try to install but when I press install the zip files that I have saved on the phone internal storage are not there (Magisk and Disable Force Encryption Treble). ANyone has a similar problem?
Used a different Twrp to root my S8 and didn't have any problem seein the zip files saved in the phone internal storage.
Can someone help please?
THanks a lot,

[Q] How To Disable DM-Verity and ForceEncrypt Mate 10 Lite

Hello guys,
I know that i will get no answer for this but anyway...
First of all i want to get the data partition decrypted permanently.
editing fstab only cause bootloop nothing else.
twrp applies decryption as you know only in recovery mode.
some told fastboot -w but nothing changed.
factory reset to data not work also. device is still encrypted.
that is all i have tried. If you know anything else i am ready to try it.
I am using RNE-L01 C432 with stock oreo ROM

Password in all recoveries except TWRP 3.3.0.0

First of all I must apologize for my low level of English.
I will try to explain something strange that happens to my Pocophone since the arrival of the OTA with Android 10 and Miui11
Since I bought the Poco I have always used TWRP as recovery.
I currently use the 3.3.0.0 official TWRP version downloaded from its official app and I have no problem until the past weekend-
However, I have tried installing OrangeFox Recovery Project (OFRP), PitchBlack Recovery Project (PBRP) and an unofficial TWRP mod whose name is twrp-3.3.1-2-beryllium-adil2.img
And now I tell you I miss it.
If I boot into recovery using TWRP 3.3.0.0 it does not ask me for password, but if I flash OFRP, PBRP or mod 3.3.1.2 adil 2, it always asks me for a password when booting and tells me that the partition /data is encrypted. I do not know the password and I have never encrypted the Poco. Also the 3 revoveries show that is not installed any Tom, but when a reboot the system works perfectly.
Some colleagues have indicated to me that the data partition had been encrypted so I followed the next process to try to install a clean rom.
1. Boot in bootloader with Power + Vol-
2. Via fastboot flash OFRP
3. Boot in recovery (OFRP)
4. Format data and factory reset
5. Reboot recovery OFRP
6. Wipe: cache, Dalvik/Cache, Data and System partitions
7. Install rom XiaomiEU V11.0.4.0.QEJMIXM.zip
8. Flash DFE + Magisk
9. Reboot system
10. Complete ROM configuration
When I start again in recovery, it asks me for a password, informs me that data is encrypted and I cannot mount it, and I can't install anything.
However, if I flash TWRP 3.3.0.0 via fastboot, it no longer asks me for a password and I can mount the data partition and work normally.
If I flash again OFPR, PBRP or twrp-3.3.1-2-beryllium-adil2.img, ask me for a password again and it tells me that / data is encrypted
I tried to delete from /data/system the files locksettings.db, locksettings.db-shm and locksettings.db-wal but it continues asking me for a password if the recovery is always different of TWRP 3.3.0.0

First off, your post belongs in the Q & A section. Please ask a moderator to move it as it has nothing to do with ROMs or development. Secondly, if official TWRP works, use it. Stop switching between recoveries and getting yourself all flustered.

You're right. Here, in my country, we usually use this saying "if something works, don't touch it"
I wanted to try other recoveries because the official TWRP does not support USB-OTG access well.
About one year ago, I tried using a 256GB flashdrive with a m.2 ssd to perform a faster backup of the rom, but TWRP don't recognize the drive.
I read in these forums that TWRP had a problem managing USB-OTG and installed PBRP and it worked fine until last week I received the Miui11/Android10 OTA. After flashing it, PBRP started asking me for the password and displaying the message "I don't detect any rom installed". Despite having a recent backup (I always do it before flashing) I was a little scared.
I decided to reinstall TWRP by fastboot and I was surprised that the rom had been updated and everything worked ok.
As some colleagues tell me that I have the encrypted / data partition, I tried to make a format of the / data partition and new installation, with the result I commented above.
However, when I received the previous OTA, which was Android9 and Miui11, there was no problem.
I just wanted to share this strange situation.
I appreciate your message.

So bro twrp official never give encryption error if I flash miuiQ using it right ?
Hey there!
I have the same Situation here and I figured at least some points out:
- the Upgrade to Android 10 encrypted the data Partition. You can see that in in your phone settings under security and password. For some security reasons of Android Q I guess.
But what password and how to change is a mystery. There are tons of articles out there which are related to "encrypt with lock screen password" but thats something different. We have this Option too in developer settings but it is not Set. So the way of our New encrypted device is still a Secret.
- Official twrp is the only one to decrypt the data correct. If you go to the "save logs" section in twrp and save it you can see the log and it says that it decrypts with Standard password. But I wasnt able to find out that this is. And as I stated before we dont use the lockscreen password to decrypt, I tried to change and disable it but guess what... I didn't change anything.
I hope we can figure out as a community what's exactly going on here.

Hey there!

I checked the TWRP logs and have you reason
Code:
I:Unmounting main partitions...
Successfully decrypted with default password.
I:Decrypt adopted storage starting
I:PageManager::LoadFileToBuffer loading filename: '/data/system/storage.xml' directly
I:successfully loaded storage.xml
Updating partition details...
I am using SHRP recovery for poco for 2 months now and I haven't faced any encryption problem (recovery asking for password). I would recommend you to try it buddy.

I don't think it works, but sure I will try it.
I have already tried everything I have been reading through many forums and I always get the same result.: the ****ing password
I have tried to deactivate the PIN, screen pattern, passwords, I have even logged off the Mi account and then I have tried to flash OFRP, PBRP and a TWRP mod and always, always ask me for password
I've tried booting on TWRP
1. Factory reset
2. Format data (not only wipe) (I answer "yes")
3. Reboot recovery
4. wipe cache, Dalvik / cache, Data and System
5 Install rom (miui_POCOF1Global_V11.0.4.0.QEJMIXM_74f88e6c8f_10.0.zip)
5. Flash twrp
6. Flash orange fox + DFE + magisk
7. Start rom and configure.
And without entering a PIN or blocking pattern, only gmail and Mi account and when returning to reboot in recovery it asks me again for a password.
SOLUTION:
I removed lockscreen password and flashed official TWRP.
Now it's decrypted successfully
The same kind of thing happened to me. I wish that I had seen this thread before. Lost all my data. ???

Is there a custom rom for the HUAWEI P30 lite?

Hey guys,
I want to buy a new phone for around 200€, while searching for a good one my eyes fell on the HUAWEI P30 lite.
But I would like to use the phone for a longer time, so here's my question:
"Does anybody know if theres a working custom rom for the HUAWEI P30 lite?"
I've allready looked up on the webpages of DitryUnicorny, LineageOS, Pixel expirience,... also here I couldn't find a rom, or even a unofficial version,
so if anybody knows more about it, or knows a phone about 200 with "rom compatibility" let me know about it .
Thx
did yu find any custom rom for P30 Lite ?
only EMUI9.0 support custom roms

Hi there mate.. do you have TWRP running?
The only image that works is TWRP Recovery 3.2.1.0 (HiSilicon Kirin 710).
You can flash that to recovery **make sure to disable password protection, face recognition or any other locking mechanism before doing so**
Then from TWRP install magisk zip using the install option
tnx for the replay. so the problem is that i found a post that that version of twrp should work and its supposed to be https://www.androidweblog.com/huawei-p30-lite-root-install-twrp-recovery/ but their linked twrp doesn't work and it just redirects you to illegal copy of JNews and you cant download it. If you have an url to the twrp than that would be awesome. but i did get twrp but i think it was for Huawei Y9 and everything was encrypted and it couldn't mount a bunch of stuff so it couldn't install magisk but i did successfully install lineage os but all files were encrypted so it wasn't usable. Tnx again for all the help and your time.

thank you for your time above i wrote my problem
That should be the one.. Y9 Uses twrp 3.2.1.0 for Kirin 710... If You have troubles with encryption you can reformat the data partition .. that worked for me... or factory reset and without running initial setup boot TWRP... there are a few tips around the forum for this..

So i installed twrp and i tried to format data and factory reset and delete data partition and i install twrp and when i get to the setup screen phone gives warning your phone is rooted but there is no magisk and if i install app it says its N/A. all the data is decrypted on the phone and i have no idea how to enable root. when i flash magisk it says failed to mount /cust, /product, /system, /vendor, /version, /odm. and if i go to twrp again data is encrypted and i didn't set any lock up on setup. Thank you for all your help. you can add me on discord Naco_Raco#3100

Have you cleared the dalvik cache??
Please try that first, then in twrp shell run: mount -o remount,rw <partition>
Just change partition to the actual name in the errors.. /system /product etc...
Then flash magisk.
Usually at this point if you get the data partition re-encrypted you can re format the partition to get access again...

unfortunately it did not work. I filmed it again and posted on YouTube and it might help you find a problem. P.S before i filmed the video i cleared delvik and cache after installing magisk and it still didn't work. If you still have that twrp that worked for you could you send it over and i can try with that file?
