[Q] Change NavBar button actions - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I have updated my LG G6 to Android Pie.
Now there is an option to change NavBar from 3 buttons to "Gesture and buttons" (see attached picture).
How "Gesture and buttons" works is when you tap Middle button, it goes to Home screen. When tap and hold, it opens Google Assistant. And if I am in a app, then next to middle button appears a Back button.
As I do not care for Google Assistant, I have disabled it. Now, when I tap and hold Middle button, it does nothing.
Is there an option to disable Back button and change Middle buttons behavior that a tap is Back and tap and hold is Home?
Thank you.
P.S. I am rooted and Magisk installed.

How do I get that stupid D-Pad in Softkeys to dissappear?

Really annoying! Any ideas?
What I have mine set like,
Under softkeys settings:
Softkeys Service >
- Run Service - Unchecked
- Run at Boot - Unchecked
Virtual Home Button >
- Normal/Long Press - Launcher Pro (Or whatever Launcher you prefer)
Physical Home Button >
- Set Single Tap to Softkeys, Double to Launcher
Other settings are tailored to Taste/Preference.
What this will do is disable the Popper button (which I hated) but allow you to see the Softkeys menu whenever you tap the N button, and straight to your homescreen with a double tap. This will disable the DPad thing along with it.
Long press the popper

Second this! Button savior is much nicer imo.

Hi,
I've tried to do this but now my N button does not perform any action. I used home switcher to make soft keys my default launcher, but the N button is not working at all. It does, however, wake up the NC from sleep, but once the NC is on, the N button stops working. Can you help me with this?
Im on a simple rooted NC (using BN 1.1) with autonooter and I have Zeam and Softkeys installed.

Enable context menu soft-key?

On my Galaxy Nexus, despite the fact that it has a menu button, I would get a menu key in certain apps like Gmail (bottom right) and Market (top right). It would be an additional three-dot button that was essentially menu access, like pressing the menu key.
However, I notice on my SGS3 that these apps and others lack this additional menu button. Is there a way to turn it on/enable it? Like...tell the phone, "Hey, I know you have a menu button, but if the app supports it turn its menu button on too"?
Thanks in advance!

Long Press HOME for Google

By long pressing the HOME button I can bring up 3 commands one being the google button or Google item.
Is there any way to put this as a short cut on the home screen??
When I click the search box on the home screen it doesn't bring up the same Google window (with the mountains) in the background.
I want to have this on my home screen so its easer to access.

If you use any rom that has the Android Navigation Bar along the bottom (or at least has support for it), that will give you exactly what you are requesting. Because if you hold down the home button on the Navigation bar a small popup menu will appear allowing you to select Google Now (Google window with the mountains).
Otherwise, put a shortcut to "Google" from your app menu on your homescreen.

Menu/Recents button and long press for split screen in CM14+

I'd not noticed this before but it seems the RN3 left hand button is a recents button on press and a menu button on long press. This prevents the handy split screen feature from working in CM14 and above on this button. I can get this feature to work by adding a "Long press action" to the home button in settings however I would like it to work the same as my other Android devices.
Any thoughts on how this can be changed? I've had a mess in the keyboard layouts (where I also removed the long press on fingerprint to start the camera as it's annoying) but no luck with this.
Thanks.
EDIT: After changing the values again in Settings->Buttons this now seems to be working as it should. Odd.

Question Customize Navigation Button

Is there a way to customize navigation buttons like we had in older OnePlus.
Long press back button to screen off and remove Google Assistant on home button
Not for the moment, the only customs actions available are
Long press home : google assistant
Double tap Overview : quick swith between active app and previous app
Really miss those feature
I am rooted with Magisk and installed LSPosed (RiRu). Then in LSPosed install Gravitybox. Here you can do it! Only non-working for me was "double tap to sleep" on HOME-button. Does work on recent or back button.
WARNING: do NOT use the option to move the clock!!! To the right it works, when you put it in the middle, you'll screw up your phone!!! To me it lead to a new softwareflash in servicecenter!
Rest of Gravitybox might work but I basically use it to activate splitscreen and double tap to sleep.
