Android 10 GSI allegedly working for vince thru Treble. - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Guys, have you read this article?
www(dot)gizchina(dot)com/2019/10/28/android-10-now-available-for-any-device-with-project-treble/
the author mentioned below he has a redmi 5 plus and successfully installed a bugless android 10 gsi thru project treble(read the last part). Have anyone tried this GSI?

Never ever flash such GSI i have flashed my RN 5 plus and lost my IMEI and baseband.

It wasn't the GSI.
Gsi are harmless.
What you installed Shahid 67 was a backup from my phone that contained a gsi with it's bug fixed.
The reason you lost IMEI baseband etc is cuz I backed up more than needed. And you restored more than was supposed to do.
It worked for me but not for you.
Gsis r meant to be installed another way but I thought it would be easier to just restore a backed up rom. Turned out to be a bad idea.
Again GSI work on all phones and yes Android 10 gsi works on Vince.

TWRP ROM Flash Stuck

I use to use my honor 5x l22 on RR (5.8.5).
Lately after a member in the forum said CM13 has better performance& battery backup, i flashed CM13 expecting lot.
It seems now i want to get back to RR.
But when i wiped and flashed RR, TWRP got stuck on ""PATCHING SYSTEM IMAGE UNCONDITIONALLY"
I restored the backup i earlier had on EMUI (B 320).
Now i tried again the same problem persists.
I searched here as well googled. But i could understand nothing (It was something related storage format issue f2fs or something lke that).
Edit (Update) : I flashed Flyme 6 which works on Android 6. So Marshmallow ROMs work good. Problem is with Nougat ROMs
Can someone kindly help me with this in a nooby way?
I would be grateful.

You may need to update TWRP, I know sometimes you require new version for Nougat on some phones

I had a similar problem so I went ahead and flashed the newer Twrp updating mine from v3.0.00, then my problems started. I ended up reflashing back to it after the update screwed my phone. I run nougat roms on ,3.0.00 no problem guess I will leave well enough alone on my L24.

Extract the zip and copy it to the backup folder of your recovery. Go to restore and select the copied image to restore.

How you got your device running 64bit at the beginning? I always have it bootlooping
Testing 2 months this ROM.
Great work gz for you
I join telegram group Havoc and they released v.4.1.
Have you plan to update?
I had this installed, and overall it was mediocre. Doesn't feel like a custom rom, more like a ported edited rom from another model, but anything i used it for was working. Only problem is that the battery drains too fast. When i first used the phone it lasted me about 10 days or 2 weeks (used as a portable player when running and playing music in the bathroom while doing shower, with no sim and no network connection), but with this rom it only lasted 4/5 days. I think the problem is the official firmware anyway, cause it has worsened battery life in every update, so i've just downgraded to official firmware to the latest version of android 9, and battery is better, but i think i'll just reflash the first global firmware and keep it that way, so that battery will last longer. But problem is that magisk doesn't work on global. Does anyone know any root method working on global? I think i'll try to see if supersu works..

Best ROMS for my device Huawei p20 lite(ANE-LX1 - Kirin SoC)?

Hi all,
I have unlocked my device and is currently running LineageOS 16 from OpenKirin. There are a few things which does not work, like the camera app that comes with the OS as well as the notch, where icons goes beyond the notch. Someone suggested I try the OpenKirin Rom and that is how I got that specific ROM on my device.
I was wondering are there maybe other ROMS for this device? Like the one's mentioned in the article below?
https://www.getdroidtips.com/best-custom-rom-huawei-p20-lite/
It took me a long while to get everything running on this device, Magisk and EdXposed. So I just don't want to go and wipe my OS just to try 4 ROMS that does not work. Sure you have app backup for that but it would mean doing everything over almost on the device.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I am rather new to custom ROMS so please bear with me!

There is nothing like perfect Custom ROM. It is highly dependent upon the requirement of the user and his likes/dislikes. Every ROM has its importance and downsides. You can try flashing multiple ROMs to find the ROM which is suitable and best for you. There is no Custom ROM that is 100% bug free (it depends, among other things, on model, FW built number etc. etc.).
If you don’t prefer EMUI,* choose Havoc OS , AOSP Extended or LineageOS.
If you "hate" Google and Google's bloatware (like me ) only, you can simply rebrand your phone to chinese Nova 3e (among other things, better battery life, lower data consumption etc.)
Or, choose Custom ROM based on Stock with KangVip settings ( to get away from GAPPS) , stable enough to be used as your daily driver.
Availability of custom ROMs for Kirin devices is scarce.

Hi,
No i have not tried one of the recommended in that list i provided. It took me a very long time to get the phone unlocked! Then more bricks, soft and hard through the process :crying:
Magisk was not as hard to install but EdXposed was, and I also got my device stuck on a boot loop trying to get EdXposed to run. So yeah I took me a while to get it working.

If I currently have LineageOS 16 (Aug 2020 ver) can I use the AB partition? I presume so because the Android version currently is 9. I am looking to try HavocOS.

AB or A-only depend on EMUI version : 9.1 = AB, 8.0 = A-only.

Don't bother trying any one of those ROMs listed in that post. I wasted a whole day trying to flash a ROM specified by that website. Look specifically for ROMs on XDA website.
I get more help here, and it has been tested already on our devices.

[Curtana] Does flashing a custom ROM compel disabling force encryption?

First of all, I'm really sorry if this thread would turn out to be a dumb enquiry. I am new to intrinsically customising my phone and only have been using this device (Redmi Note 9S EEA Curtana, MIUI Global V11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM 4/64 GB) for 10 days. I've successfully installed root and TWRP on my phone after having thoroughly researched relevant information. The only thing is all my efforts regarding the removal of force encryption have so far failed. I'm inclined to install a custom ROM, e. g. LineageOs or Evolution X.
1. Is it a necessity to have encryption permanently disabled so that the flashing process proves viable? Currently, I'm only aware of a method which has its effect limited to the the period the phone is in recovery. It involves formatting data and then installing Magisk and thus I need to go through the set-up again. At the end of the operation, encryption is enabled again. I have no clue why. I've tested loads of no verity opt files, none of them worked in a proper way either.
2.Will installing a custom ROM eliminate root acces (since it performs a reinstallation targeting the entire system, let alone the patched boot image)?
3. In case something goes wrong, what's the correct procedure to return to the factory ROM? Is re-locking the bootloader a prerequisite? (See this guide https://c.mi.com/uk/miuidownload/detail?guide=2, for example. Notice how each of the stable MIUI releases there are marked with ★ next to them, meaning they're locked. I didn't quite grasp the message they were trying to convey with that explanation though.)
I'm conscious that's a lot to ask in a single thread, however, unlike myself, the majority of users here are supposedly tech enthusiast and probably have encountered similar difficulties on several occasions.
I hope that I've provided enough information and the thread has been named reasonably.
(Priority: detailed answers within a month would be great.)
Cheers,
Hsjaai
Just format data: twrp->wipe->format data write yes->reboot twrp and flash rom.
If you got error(red lignes reboot twrp and format again).
or
delete all your lockscreen security before flashing but to install a new rom you must format the data before.
Thanks for your quick response, honestly I didn't expect anyone to be this early to react.
As I've already mentioned, in TWRP there's a workaround for temporarily disabling encryption using the first method, the latter one doesn't seem to function as intended - that may be the case on newer devices, according to an article I've come across.
One last request. Could you please (briefly) answer my two other questions as well? How do I reinstall MIUI if something breaks down? Is the flashing apparatus provided by Xiaomi reliable?
I'll keep you updated on my progress,
Hsjaai

With Magisk app
I'm still unsure about something. Will the custom ROM be installed without hassle if I unroot Magisk at the beginning (meanwhile leaving the custom recovery intact, of course)? No guide seems to deem having root installed as a prerequisite. If you answer that, I'm really embarking on the flashing process.

Installing a custom rom (aosp or Miui) requires a data format (erases all data and creates a new partitions if necessary) which will remove root anyway, but sometimes root + twrp creates problems (can't mout the partitions) it is therefore to avoid this that I recommend you to unroot before.
In all cases (Aosp or custom Miui) magisk is installed last.
Which ROM do you want to install?
I'd like to install LineageOS first and see how compatible it is.

Of course, if you absolutely want to root your device for other reasons, ignore that.

The installation of these should only differ (on a particular device) in the ROM that's being flashed az a zip, right?
For instance, see this guide. Could that be deemed to be applicable to any custom ROM?

Install the right TWRP
Be sure you have the right firmware.
If not flash it.
1)Twrp wipe format data write yes reboot twrp(if error reboot twrp and format again).
2)flash rom
3)reboot system
v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is a turkish rom(android 10)
V12.0.2.0.RJWMIXM is a global rom(android 11)Firmware base for AOSP
It is better to use Miflash and install TWrp after.(dont relock the bootloader).
Are you sure v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is the Turkish version? I thought it was EEA (the one tweaked for European countries). Installing the Global version seems alright, but why does the MIUI version has such a great effect on the outcome of the flashing?
Is that because both Cherish OS and the Global version are AOSP-based?

Hello guys, I mistakenly formatted using sp flash tool and I hadn't backed up my imei on my poco x3 gt. It gave me nv data corrupted error on reboot as a result. I've looked for every way to repair the device including taking it to xiaomi center but it hasn't worked. If there could be a way to help me out I would really appreciate perhaps someone could share nv data backup.

Hey, nv data corruption is no longer a problem. I came across a workaround where it boots fine. Now, the issue I have is that on eng rom only sim 2 works and when trying to flash miui 12.5.8, the baseband is there and imei shows but sim card doesn't work. Also, SN is unknown. Anyone managed to fix the problem?

not really. only on engenering rom show baseband and imei and both lines work fine 5g and volte , , but in normal rom it wont work, cause no radio or modem is setup neither, what i did is DSU SIDELOAD , an install android 13 GSI , SO it boots the other partition in any GSI normally and lines works like normal , i have 256 gb so i put 125gb for storage , you gotta put half of your storage in the dsu sideload app, i have tried many gsi , android 13 and 12 it woks ......evolution , pixel experience , cherish , superior and other , so you dont have to worri in fixing anymore
