Can turn my V30 into a DAC for PC or MAC? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

In my previous LG G5 device,i had the hifi module and could connect to the PC with Windows drivers downloaded from the official website.
I would like to do the same with my V30 +. Is there any way to get it?

sadly no, v30's dac itself is not an external accessory, so you can't simply plug in to pc and work as usb dac.
here is a free application you can use to stream audio output from you pc (not mac) to android wireless-ly
AudioRelay
You can use dummy 3.5mm jack plugged to your pc and select that audio interface

Why would you want that?

Because I would like not to have to spend on another dac for my PC.
I would like to take advantage of the one I have inside the device.

Do you really think it's better than PC's on board sound card?

Pretty sure it is, especially if it's but some dedicated discrete high end audio sound card.
Our Quad DAC is better than some stereo equipment worth many thousands of dollars. The same company that makes our Quad DAC also sells some standalone units with the same DAC, for like $5000 (if I remember correctly, but that was 2 years ago).
I remember that reference because the reviewer pointed out this phone included the quad DAC and was only $900.
In one audiophile blindfolded test it beat a $35,000 piece of equipment -- running out through speakers. The "expert" was astounded. "How much does this phone cost?"

Depends. Is it a high end motherboard from companies such as Asus? They also use the ESS as well. Lower end boards are also starting to offer better audio chips.
I own a Asus crosshair hero VII and it serves my purpose.

Well that's what I'm talking about, the modern motherboards have come a long way with audio quality.

The motherboard that I have is MSI Mpg X570 Gaming Edge and these are the specifications ... I do not understand much but I think it does not have a dac chip in conditions for HI-FIView attachment 4861601

If you bought the GODLIKE edition, it would have had the ESS. You version doesn't.

Any update on this for 2022? Would love to use a V30 as a wired DAC. I really enjoy the sound signature.

Is lg g5 contains DOLBY DIGITAL sound built-in or not???
And also support 32bit DAC built in like V10??
Dolby Digital Plus.....Confirmed
They want your money so you'll have to pay extra for that 32bit DAC module.
I know my dear but thanks god at least there is Dolby Sound
But I think the S7 has 32bit DAC built in with Dolby.
Does anyone knows what DAC the G5 using build in by default?
I donot think s7 have it

Samsung's are good ol 16bit audio. V10 has the 32bit DAC and g5 built in is 24bit.

Lg g5 h860

Hello guys, this is my first post, so if anything is wrong, please let me know.
I recently purchased the LG G5 (H860) and I was wondering if the Hi-Fi DAC is compatible with it, i know the DAC isn't compatible with the US models, but I haven't seen anything on the internet about the H860 compatibility.
Thanks in advance
I don't know the answer to your question but I watched a video of a blind sound test with a g5 with and without the dac attached and they couldn't tell the difference between the audio.

Thanks, I also did some more research and found out that some people think it's a gimmick, and for some it's quite nice, but it would be kind of fun to impress people on the modular chin, and also have the headphone jack at the bottom.

[MOD][PORT][N]aptX codec working for Axon 7 (somehow)

https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/themes/mod-aptx-codec-t3521228?nocache=1
I found this thread about the OnePlus 3 aptx working codec, that as Axon 7 does not receive official support for standard AptX. It works flawlessly, at least with my headphones LG Infinia HBS900, but only after turning on/off button on headphones. Check presence of the codec with Catlog. Working only on Android N (BadBoys 3.1 now). It should work with Lineage to, worh to make a try.
Really great news since I'm having 2 LG Tone Platinum that's support AptX HD but does this work on stock android and bootloader locked?
I'm not willing to sacrifice 3 year warranty here in Europe and second one I know there's option to re locked bootloader and get back to stock unofficial through XDA but I'm not having the knowledge and don't want to risk as I never done root or unlocking bootloader since I didn't find any benefit on that.

@paatha13
Why would you sacrifice 3 years 3 years warranty. Zte can only deny your warranty by proofing that there is a software error.. (EU law)
You can revert to stock by reflashing stock rom.
Post a step by step explaining how to install this? Also does it work on stock ROMs?

It does, on nougat. B15 and B19. I have been using it for a while.
Just go into the link OP posted and download aptx-hd zip from that thread. Flash it in TWRP and you are done.

Thanks. Two more quick questions:
- After a new ROM is installed and everything is wiped, I assume I'd have to flash this again and it's not off safe in some other partition or something?
- How do I know it's working?

-Yes, you need to flash it again as it installs itself on the system partition in the libs folder.
-Just install MatLog from the playstore to access the logs in real time and grant it root access. Then, filter the logs by typing aptx in the filter bar of MatLog. It won't find anything yet until you start playing your music via bluetooth to your paired aptx/aptx HD device.
(You have to start MatLog BEFORE playing the music via bluetooth or it won't find anything!)
It's kind of disappointing ZTE didn't include official AptX HD support on Axon 7 from beginning.
Not everyone prefer wired headphones but a lot of people prefer Bluetooth wireless stereo headset.
But since there's a way of doing it even now I assume ZTE could implement it in future update.

AptX is paid license, ZTE must pay for that. So, no money, no license!

Well let's hope will see support on Axon 8.
Or why not even different HiFi audio protocol like LDAC that Sony offering on their device witch is on par or even better than AptX HD bring.
One thing is sure my next device must include HIFi audio or else not gone take.
As much Axon 8 is brilliant device no HIFi audio no party to me.

tbf. a7 is tailored towards the use of wired hifi headphones of the ath m50x caliber with its extra dac, therefore while unfortunate it's not a huge loss.

Can flash AptX/AptXHD on official ROM?
Do I also need a custom TWRP?
Has anyone already tried out the aptx-HD-version on their current A2017U or G stock rom?
According to that thread, Lineage OS already supports AptX. Does the device support aptx-hd?
Does This still work on latest Stock Roms like B04 on G version?
Thanks!
I found this magisk module : https://github.com/Love4Taylor/Magisk-aptX-HD-Enabler
i didn't have aptX device don't know if it's working
Am i right that the axon 7 has aptx but no aptxHD?

Verified in MatLog.

Do you mean HD radio by any chance?
https://hdradio.com/
The V30 DAC supports all the way up to 32 bit 384khz audio. LG's music player plays HD music tracks perfectly fine, even DSD and MQA. USB Audio Player Pro's current beta plays full Tidal MQA audio on the LG V30. Please note that this applies to wired connections. Wireless connections (Aptx-HD) are limited to 24 bit/48khz compressed.

Bluetooth support for system EQ?

I've hogged this question around all phone manufacturers, and the only phone that supports it that I know of is LG V series. OPPO itself ignored the question, so if someone could test...
Also, what about aptX... does it have it?

Disappointing, I remember back in 2014 people complaining that MaxxAudio wasn't supported by BT in OPPO Find 7. It's extraordinary that these blasted companies ditch the audio jack and expect people to use BT without the system EQ, which is far superior to the bucket-load of poor third-party EQ apps.
OnePlus 7 Pro doesn't support it, according to support. Sony Xperia 1 I now know does, so it's a choice between that and LG.
Reno 10x has aptx HD via Bluetooth. It means you can enjoy almost lossless audio if you have right headphone. I have an audio Technica Bluetooth headphone with aptx HD. Works amazing with the Reno. Perfect and Crystal clear sound. The problem with aptx HD headphones is that they are expensive. The one i have is 300 $.
