So unlocked phones can receive OTA? Interesting.
And it is kind of buggy, but better than 10.4.5

If it is OTA then it wont flash using custom recovery. You would have to revert to stock before you can flash it. MIUI 11 is worth every bit of it and i would strongly recommend it. I am on the chineese MIUI 11 and it is fantastic

I had installed this. Doesn't seems to have any bugs for the moment. Try to go for it.

I think it works only with stock recovery. Saw a video on YouTube in which the updater app decrypted the zip before rebooting to install. That encryption is probably the reason?

They haven't took it down, its a phased roll out, so once you get the notification of ota you should have to download, but after restart it is gone means now it will come to you at some later stage, or else you can sideload it

Were all these options checked to make the recovery OTA-compatible beforehand?
Support MIUI incremental OTA
Include system in OTA survival
Incremental OTA signature verification
Aggressive stock recovery deactivation
Disable boot check
Disable DM-Verity
Disable Forced Encryption.
And then a data format/ initial flash of the current rom was necessary so that Orangefox can understand, decrypt and install future OTA updates.

Well most of the times with custom recoveries and magisk it's necessary to disable them so the phone boots, works properly but in your case if it was working properly even with them not touched then honestly I'm confused a little bit.
But keeping that aside for now, what about flashing the previous rom once again to make it show "ready to receive OTA updates" - does your recovery already say that?
Generally if it shows that then updating process is simple enough - download ota from updater app- let it decrypt inside that for a few minutes then when asked for reboot it'll restart in orangefox and complete everything else automatically.

Yes it does say it's ready for update. One thing i notice first is that it asked for password to decrypt the internal storage, was that normal or is it where it failed after?

A2017G B11 OTA Update released

Hi,
I just got a B11 for my A2017G over OTA update..
It is V1.0.0 so no Nougat.
1. Google security patch jan. 2017
2. Text and display problems fixed
3. Performance and stability improvement
Anyone tried it already?
I'm on B10 and the update size is 133.44MB
Are you B10(6.0.1)??
Because everyone currently is at 7 Nougat we are waiting within this week upgrade via OTA to official 7.1.1 according to ZTE Germany
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yes I am on B10 Android 6.0.1.
Well you should upgrade manually to 7 Nougat otherwise you won't be able to upgrade to 7.1.1 when being released until end of the week.
There's no point of staying at B10 and 6.0.1

Not via OTA.
OTA will get only users already having 7 rom installed on their device.
If ZTE released download link rom to make the upgrade manually via micro sd it's possible you can upgrade then.
But we don't know when eventually ZTE released manually upgrade way or not.
Over here you can upgrade to 7 and wait official 7.1.1 OTA until end of the month.

what kind of OTA needs you to be on a manually-upgraded version beforehand? it totally defeats the purpose of an OTA update... did ZTE actually stated that 7.1.1 OTA will be for users already on nougat?

My friends that's what I'm telling above.
According to ZTE Germany you must already have 7 installed.
Take the link above and upgrade.
It's really very easy.
Unless you want to wait for your own reasons.
It's your choice.

If what you are saying is true, then it's dumb as an ass. So, if you don't know how to manually flash software, you won't be able to upgrade?! That is ridiculous!!
I have the Chinese axon 7 and it was upgraded to 7.1.1 a week or so back from 6.0.1 via ota. I didn't flash anything manually.
So, i would guess that would be the same with the other variants..... Sooner or later.

You're right, but I guess they just released the update so that we stopped complaining about the lack of Nougat. And who complains about that? People that can flash things manually. The general public will receive Nougat when it's really ready, I suppose.

Indeed good news from ZTE eventually since many people don't want or don't know manually to upgrade or even worst many users don't read XDA or ZTE forum with result not knowing it they could have stayed forever at 6.0.1.
Good ZTE realize their earlier mistake.

What's the problem kid? Flashing a rom with Axon 7 is a peace of cake:
1) download the rom and put it on your SD card;
2) go to your settings > system updates and your device will find the update automatically, simple as that.

I suspect it'll only be an ota to B10 and not a full downloadable file. If you're on B10, you should get it immediately. I downgraded from 7.1 1 to B10 to try B11 and got it immediately via ota.

[Discussion] issues faced while moving to stock from custom ROMs.

Hi,
just to share my experience on the problem I faced while moving to stock ( I know these are my mistakes and anyone can do this so wanted to share just to save other new users)
I was on one of the custom ROM yesterday but due to lag in camera and slight other bugs (or say due to my requirement), I wanted to go back to stock. I had all the files, TWRP backup but as TWRP doesnt work on Android 8.1 for V10 (except BKL-L04), it was much complicated.
While flashing my stock system.img, I didnt realize that I am on magisk and patched_boot.img rather stock (that was my mistake) and just flashed my system.img and then factory reset in stock recovery. My phone booted fine but then no service for SIM cards, checked in about phone and found that I have lost my IMEI. (no other bugs). My bootloader is still unlocked but FRP lock (I did factory reset remember and I had the google account on earlier custom ROM which I did not delete)..
If you come across this situation, you can boot few times but this will remain the same and factory reset will not help. I was unable to flash TWRP to restore my stock backup (android 8.0, TWRP works on this, right) as my FRP was locked. Even enabled google account and factory reset all but no luck. Then, I made another mistake of relocking the bootloader. Once re-locked, It was in bootloop and only fastboot and erecovery was accessible.
I had no other option but to only download the full file in erecovery and boot. It will be a different file which we do not get on firmware finder, in my case, it was BKL-L09C432B160- FULL file. It took me 4 hours to download the 3GB full file (was in office and was unable to connect to office Wi-Fi, no hotspot issue on iOS12 beta, no 4GB SD card or data card which I normally carry with in bag so burrowed a data card and used my sim and downloaded the 3GB file in 4 hours). Once file was downloaded and flashed, all were fine with IMEI and everything stock.
Just wanted to share this experience so that any other noob or new user do not repeat this and get into all these trouble ( I knew that I will be able to revive anyhow as I am familiar with Huawei/honor phones but it may not be the case all the time with you- its just we need patience with this).
You can share your experience if you come across such so that it will be helpful for others.
I will create a guide as well to get back to stock ROM from custom ROM based on my experience (will skip the dload method as it is already covered and I have not tested that on EMUI 8 - have done it more than 100 times on EMUI 3,4,5) .
Thanks for reading.
I don't think you can download full package from erecovery for Indian model.. it gave me some kind of failure error whenever I tried to download
Rommco05 said:
Im curious how u lost IMEI and FRP lock? I flash couple times system.img and then factory reset in stock recovery without issues. Google account doesnt lock FRP no different if u signed in account or not. It is related to OEM in Developer section. I never delete my account, (when I sell my View10 I also dont delete my account just make FR and another person sign in and have FRP unlocked). Sometimes after flashing/Factory reset switch OEM to disabled

I did flash system.img on magisk ramdisk that may be the issue here for imei lost or may be i was on b160 before RR but flashed b130 image, anything. When downloaded b160-full in erecovery, all fixed.

First downgrade to latest MIUI 9 stable build and after that flash whatever rom you want
I have a Redmi note 5 AI 6/64 gb variant. After purchasing my device i have unlockd the bootloader and flash global stable rom but i can't relock the bootloader. my previous rom was MIUI 9.5.21.0 China and my current rom is MIUI 9.5.17.0. If i relock the bootloader phone boot into recovery mode and shows "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device". If i unlocked the bootloader again then phone reboot into OS. As per my findings from MIUI 9.5.6.0 bootloader can't be locked after flashing global rom on Chinese device. Its a bug from xiaomi. So my question is
1. If i flash my device into 9.2.7.0 can i relock my bootloader again and can perform OTA update?
2. I have got an OTA update MIUI 9.6.3.0. If i update my device will it get bricked? If i can update my device via OTA update will it relock my bootloader automatically? Or do I have to flash it manually?
There is no ARB for vince

First this forum is not for your device. Correct forum is redmi note 5 pro (your device is named pro in India and xda forum is named pro too).
Second you can't flash global version on Chinese phone with locked bootloader. If you want global version you have to keep bootloader unlocked. You can apply OTA on global and it doesn't lock your bootloader.

Hi, I was thinking of buying a Mi Max 2 or 5 plus 4/64GB. Just like confirmation if VINCE aka Redmi 5 plus doesn't have ARB like the Mi Max 2, is that correct?
Is WHYRED which is Note 5 Pro the first phone to have ARB implemented?
Thank you.

vince doesn't have ARB (at least, not yet). I don't know whether it will ever get ARB, but that wouldn't bother me at all, since I have no intention of going back to miui for any reason.

Same for me, no MIUI.
By any chance, all the phones after and including Note 5 Pro have ARB implemented, is that right?

Did you do clean install or just dirty flash
Installed and rooted via patched image a few hours ago and everything is working smoothly. The setting menu is much more streamlined and the fingerprint scanner works much better now! I haven't installed TWRP since I don't know which version works, maybe someone here can share which version works for them.

My device is still locked. So I just upgraded via the standard update mechanism.
I might do a factory reset, see if that makes a difference.

maybe that fix the problem, I think if you going on newer android version is always better do factory reset and start clean.

If i install this through twrp i guess i will loose magisk and root? Is it recommended to wipe data and system when coming from Miui 10?
After that i will have the standard recovery but the phone would be able to receive ota's again, am i correct?

As you are from Europe, if you bought official, it is why it is EEA, but it is also Global, sometimes updates comes more fast on EEA Global, then just on Global. It exist also Russian Global.
---------- Post added at 07:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:49 PM ----------
i am now on XEU miui 11 beta, if i want to install this EEA Stable i can just install this stable by twrp? sure i will do format data, as i do it always when installing new rom.
I try to apply this OTA update but when the phone reboots in recovery mode to apply it, the update fails at less than 1% (the phone directly reboots).
Any idea about this issue? (bootloader has been unlocked for root but I flashed by the stock recovery)
Thank you for your help!
waiting to global, maybe tomorrow
updated via OTA with Orange Fox recovery...no recovery loose.
Little Bug...screen flickerin when unlock with fingerprint but not happen when unlock with face recognition.

what device are u using? what method did u use for entering recovery? volume down + power won't work anymore on rui2 please use reboot recovery or some third party rebooter app on playstore. I can confirm that file is working on my Realme 7 rmx2151 runing RealmeUI 2.0 C.15 (see attachment, its fresh downloaded from xda, i guess it's not corrupted)

from my experience simply clear data and cache from com.oppo.ota or changing software region will fix that. but you have to use stock recovery for upgrade i believe
Open the phone app on your device and dial *#3954391#. Then dial *#391#. A screen should come up with a whole bunch of regions listed.... original thread

did u use stock recovery or twrp? i guess twrp on rui1 can't update ota, so you have to use stock recovery. there's also ofp file for a91 out there that you can decrypt and flash it with spflashtool.

just wait for awhile. or change the region again. i think locked or unlocked wont affect software update on this phone, my phone bootloader unlocked since a.71 A10 and now updated to c.15 A11.

i unlocked my bootloader and it seems like my phone changed back to rmx2155 with the bootloader unlocked, is this significant?, i also changed the region to signapore ex since people seemed to have success with it

i believe rmx2155 are europe only, so canging to Singapore region will not work. try other region that still in Europe. or.... if everything seems fail. just flash your phone with spflashtool. here's link for rmx2155 A11 c.15
