Locked Bootloader SOV36 - Sony Xperia XZ1 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey Guys,
I don't speak really good English but I will try my best to describe my problem because I really need your help.
I bought a XZ1 with Version SOV36. The bootloader is locked. Also if I look in the Service Info via "*#*#7378423#*#*" it's written "Bootloader unlock allowed: No". I activated the OEM Bootloader unlock in the developer options but I don't think that this will have any impact.
I need to install any standard Rom without the massive bloatware i got on this phone. A lot of it is not deactivateable. I tried to install a custom kernel but i can't get into the bootloader. So I also can't install twrp or magisk or root or anything else. I found the device via "adb devices" but if I run "adb reboot bootloader" the phone reboots with black screen and a blue LED. No further commands are working or getting any connection via adb after this happens. I tried a lot of ways written down in this forum how to get it done but none of them worked.
The Build-Number is:
47.2.C.1.126
Kernel Version:
4.4.148-pref+
#1 Tue Sep 17 10:47:56 2019

Thanks a lot for your help!

As it is the "odd ball" version of the XZ1 and the Service Menu says no to the bootloader being unlocked but maybe some one will pop in with a bit more info..
But in the meantime have a read over here.. https://www.liberamenteweb.it/en/gu...ed-apps-from-android-9-sony-xperia-xz-premium , it will help you with your bloat ware issue...
and have a look here.. https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...devonly-exploits-temp-root-to-backup-t3795510

For others which may have the same problem:
https://king.mineo.jp/my/kangetsu/reviews/item/35887
Here you could find a list of packages you need to uninstall if you want to completely remove the AU-Bloatware.
I'm still looking forward to a solution which could help to unlock the bootloader but didn't find one yet.

I got a unit too recently. My tethering and volte is disable outside Japan. I wondered if it is an au kddi problem or my network. I have not installed bootloader on any unit for some time. It is possible with this model?

I have SOV36 with bootloader unlocked. You have to check if bootloader is unlockable. I hope this helps.

Try downgrading to first version of Pie for SOV36. I unlocked on when it was on first version of Pie. Give that a try.

[Q] What about simlock?

Hi friends,
Before buying this cute smartphone, I want to know if we have solutions to unsimlock the Xperia S.
Thank you all
if you have option, buy unlocked one
why?
1) phone is locked so no other network
2)unlocking phone would be very expensive since is new so £30-40 + wait to people work out how to (price in highstreet)
3)instatly lose warranty - (test point)
4) locked bootloader no fun on xda
-no fastboot
-no unlocked botlooader
-no xrecovery
-no custom rom
-no root
- long wait for update.
- i am not sure whether unlock simlock = unlocked bootloader.

Currently there is no free Sim Unlock in the DEV section. Best check next time before asking
The phone has been out around 3 weeks, might be a while before a solution can be found.
I have checked more than you can imagine that's why I have asked to know if there is a solution because I didn't find it
Docomo unlocked at purchase for $39 USD

I won my Xperia S in a competition from Three UK.
I'm on Orange and have my contract to pay so I asked Three for an unlock code. They've had to speak to Sony because even Three don't have a code yet.
I paid £15 on 9th March and I'm still waiting for an unlock, just want to use my beautiful Xperia

Are you sure?
A network locked phone cannot be root and no unlocked bootloader?
my X10 was locked and I could root it easily and flash other official roms (different baseband).
Then I sim-unlocked it before flashing custom roms, so I don't know if I am able to do that with a locked phone though.

Just got my Xperia unlocked officially from Three UK. So it works on any network however all the Three integration is still there and after checking the bootloader status I am unable to unlock the bootloader as of now.
So although it's unlocked to any network, it's still kinda locked with regards to the bootloader and rooting.

Have you flashed an un-brand firmware? (there is a way to flash another official rom without rooting/unlocking) Maybe it would be bootloader unlock-able after that...? (i really not sure about this)
But there should be a way to root the phone without bootloader unlocked soon or later anyway (just like the others)
and i know that the X10 can be bootloader unlock even with simlock (although the method came out quite late...)
it's just a matter of time, shouldn't be the end of the world

IMEI UNLOCK Sony Xperia S
Hi,
I planing to buy a Sony Xperia S and IMEI unlock it...Maybe this is a stupid question but if I buy the Xperia S new, is it possible it comes already with blocked counter? or every Xperia S comes with 5 to 10 attempts? and if it comes with factory blocked counter, is it still possible to remove simlock? Would it be to expensive? I really need to know this in order to know if I buy the Xperia S or not. Sorry if it is a dumb question but I was an iOS user 'til now. Sorry if I post this in the wrong thread.
Thank you!!

Mail Sony

Hi dudes,
I sent an email to Sony Support France and asked them about bootloader. I have a Sony Xperia Z2 from SFR carrier ( FRANCE ) and I was wondering if they could unlock my bootloader if I sim unlock it. I mean without simlock my phone should be the same as a phone purchased in a Sony store.
I'm still waiting for an answer, keep you in touch. :good:
Regards
Is this a question?
Why would you post this in Q & A?
It can be a question, maybe someone already tried that ?
Ok guys,
I got an answer, it was NO. They basically said they that I need to deal with my carrier for this kind of problems...
I still have a question for you, If an exploit is found is it only for root or will we able to unlock unlockable bootloaders ?

If the exploit is found, then you can flash a ROOTED ROM on a locked bootloader like the Z1. I for one like the stock sony experience i just wish i could put a sound MOD on the Z2 and for that i need root but, my phone is locked.....
Oh ok, so if an exploit is found, people with locked bootloader will not be able to flash kernel like the one from DoomLord for exemple ?

G925F is an international variant which is unlocked by default.
OEM unlock option is only available in carrier locked devices like T-Mobile. so don't worry about it anymore, good luck.

I have a G925A and since I don't have ATT I can't connect to their servers to update from 6.0.1 to latest. But I do not have OEM unlock either. I tried to ODIN TWRP and it failed, presumably because locked BL. Any ideas?
Which part of the flashing procedure did it fail at? boot.img?
I have got the same issue. I install twrp 3.0.0 and try to install other custom rom and the flashing is complete but at the end E: unkown command log message will appear. What is the solution?

2. Can I root my Phone if my device is not a candidate for Unlocking the Phone and FRP?
* If the device is candidate for Root, can you give me the most reliable Guide for Rooting?
3. How safe is unlocking my device? Can you give me the percentage of success unlocking my device?
4. All I need is Black Notification Panel, Black Settings or the overall System UI to be black. Is this possible?
Thanks in advance. I am forever in your debt.

1. You might be able to if you downgrade to a previous build. First try downgrading through hisuite to Oreo. If that doesn't work you can find service (dload) firmware on androidhost.ru.
This is only to get Oem unlock back as it's required to be enabled to unlock phone.
2. No
3. Unlocking is safe, but as written above you need oem unlock to be able to unlock, else you can't use fastboot.
4. It is on Mate 10 Pro, but that's only because of OLED display. And it's part of EMUI, so you don't need to root for it... But I'm not sure if anyone else managed to port it over.
Thanks for the reply Sir,
Now my questions are;
1. Are there available Oreo that are already Unlocked Bootloader or clickable OEM Option in the Developers tab?
*If there are, does it mean I only need to Root it right?
2. If I downgrade to Oreo, can I use the latest Custom ROMs that are base from Android Pie?
3. How safe is Downgrading, or what is the success rate of Downgrading using HiSuite Software?
Thank you again for those who will reply to my questions.
Note: Huawei can't give us a Bootloader Code. Ho can we unlock our devices now?

Downgrading via HiSuite is totally safe and if the option is available, has a 100% success rate. It will however relock your bootloader despite the OEM Unlock option being available on developer options.
Do you have your device unlock code?

It should. I do know that someone on here paid for it... But not sure of the outcome.
Ask their support (details at the bottom of the description) if they still do this service.

Is SM-N981U Able to be Rooted?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no but does ANYONE know if I can root my SM-N981U? I did get the recent updates automatically and I'm currently running UI v 3.1, bootloader v 2 and android 11. If its NOT possible does anyone know if anyone's working on it? Any help would be AWESOME!! I also have no idea how to turn the bootloader off if rooting is possible so help there would be nice. Thanks in advance!
Your model number ends with "U" which indicates that it's a U.S. variant
U.S. variants always get their bootloader hard locked and can't be unlocked via regular means. Root requires that you unlock your bootloader.
There was a paid service that offered to unlock U.S. variant bootloader here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/sampwnd-usa-model-bl-unlock-info-u-u1-w.4201689/
But I'd ask first if I was you. Other than that, I don't think you'll be able to root.
