Return to Stock - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys.
I've ran into an issue on my kenzo
Tried to go back to stock using a recovery ROM flashing via twrp, my mistake, and now it won't boot, stuck on mi logo.
I unofficially unlcoked this years ago.
Bootloader is now locked. I can enter edl mode however sometimes it says USB not recognised.
What should I do to fix this.
Thank you.

Thanks!
Managed to boot into edl and using the beta version of miflash flashed the latest version of miui, v10, for my device.
Issue now popped up that it's locked to an account that I dont have the password for, the account details and number used I haven't used for 2+ years.
Any idea how to get passed this?

Cannot do custom rom for this phone. Need to go back to stock.
What about flashing an earlier version of miui? Via fastboot over v10?
Will that cause bootloop?

First stay on 10.2 rom miui.
And use this method.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/unlock-unofficially-install-zcx-twrp-t3586778
Above method will install zcx twrp on locked bootloader.
Then update zcx twrp to latest 3.3.1 official
Then
Format data
Advanced wipe
Flash rom
Flash gapps
Reboot.
Note: never flash miui firmware or rom using twrp. It will brick.

Did this. Ran LOS16 unofficial then flashed miui7 stable and somehow the device remembers the old account and won't let me proceed until I input the password.
I fully wiped everything. How can this information persist across wipes?

Why u going miui 7.
I told u to flash miui 10.2 fastboot rom using pc in EDL mode clean flash.
Then reboot.
But dont login mi account.
Then follow the given link in previous post.
Which will directly install twrp.
Dont reboot to miui.
Update.twrp.
And Just install custom rom n gapps.
But format data first
Type YES to format.
Then advance wipe

I've done all of that.
I'm running custom ROM, lineage os, but need a working miui ROM.
Every time I load a miui ROM, it always locks and cannot do anything
There's an old account of mine that I no longer have the details for. I need to bypass this for a working miui ROM.

You guys will need an authorized beta account unless you want to flash the ROM via TWRP Recovery
So, I updated without an authorized account though TWRP. As soon as I tried to reboot to system, it brought me back to TWRP.
I suppose I had to disable encryption all over again so I formatted Data, installed the update again and started to move the required zip for Magisk and encryption disabling back in the internal memory. During the installation the system rebooted (I didn't ask to, the first time it didn't reboot til I asked) and something crashed on the first screen pf MIUI 10. Then it decided to reboot again to recovery... and the TWRP was gone, I have the MIUI stock recovery again. Anyway, I formatted the data once more and the system is running without problems now.
tldr: Updated, data was deleted, TWRP is gone, system seems good

I had the 3.2.3 and global 8.8.7, same as you. Maybe you formatted data before flashing? That's the only thing I can think of.
Anyway, an happy feedback: Gps is working after few hours, that's what pushed me to try this update

Sensor not working then May be something wrong with persist partition.
Did u manually downloaded recovery rom from mi site.?
Why miui 9? Latest beta is miui 10 . go to system updater app and press update to upgrade to latest miui 10 beta version.
I think latest beta is 8.10.11 something.

So u on miui 9 stable?
U stuck during upgrading miui10 coz u must factory reset. Sometime rom cant boot due to data partition and apps.
So need to clear user data to succesfully boot on upgrade. So u must factory reset to clear data partition. Else u will face problems. or bootloop while upgrade.
So if I just want to do the repair sensor stuff, what shall I do?
I did install TWRP but couldn't install any custom ROM, all stuck in bootloop!
What shall I do?

Just extract the persist.img file from fastboot rom.
Put the device in fastboot mode or if it doesnt work then put in edl mode and flash.
And flash using fastboot command
fastboot devices
fasboot erase persist
fastboot flash persist persist.img
fastboot reboot
Or
easy method
u can just flash persist.img file using TWRP. if twrp ask which parttion to flash then select persist partition.

Make sure u come from latest miui 10 stable
If u unlocked boot loader unofficially and zcx
then first replace ur zcx twrp with latest twrp. Then u can flash custom roms and gapps.
U dont need any firmware Before flashing custom roms.
Just format data
Wipe data reset
Flash rom and gapps.
Reboot.
If u try to flash those 50mb size miui firmware zip using twrp then u will brick ur phone coz u r unofficially unlocked. So get rid of that firmware fever from ur head. U dont need any.
In case if u feel like going again back to miui global rom then put ur phone in EDL mode and flash kate fastboot global rom using computer and miflashtool.

Can you help me? This is for Kenzo
I had softbricked? my phone. Went through the process of installing the MIUI 10 fastboot rom but it required activation which I can't do as I forgot my login details (i bought this phone years ago)
Yesterday I managed to unlock unofficially using this method
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66379587&postcount=3
Didn't install 7.1.8, just 7.2.5, followed the instructions, was able to enable oem-unlock and usb debugging, confirmed bootloader was unlocked
Flashed the latest twrp, tried zwcx, lastly tried the latest orangefox
Tried flashing AOSPextended nougat and viper os nougat with various recoveries but they were stuck at the logo for the corresponding roms
I am not sure...do I have to do anything with that boot.img patcher? And if so, when would I flash it?
Went through the same steps again. Same result. All roms get stuck on the custom boot animation
edit:nevermind, flashed that unlocked bootloader rn3_unlockonly in miflash and it booted up

There is an updated guide to unlock unofficially on MIUI 9 with new bootloader.
The problem was you unlocked on older version of MIUI.
To recover password try to visit mi cloud & check if you can do something or forget & use custom roms as there's nothing good about MIUI.

Question Can i downgrade from miui 13 to 12 without loosing data?

I should have been more careful before updating coz after the update i realized that twrp won't work on miui 13. I can fastboot recovery but the internal storage is encrypted and it shows 0 MB. I need root, so i am thinking of downgrading to 12.5 again. Can i do that without loosing data? Also how can i downgrade? Should i just download fastboot version of the rom and update it?

Just flash the fastboot rom with Mi Flash and tick "Clean All" so after MIUI boot you can flash twrp and other ROM again
Already messed it up :-( Can you please tell me which fastboot rom i should flash... I was using eu rom but even after flashing it phone boots to mi recovery.
Hey, yesterday I flashed xiaomi eu stable MIUI 13.0.3 by their script.
To do it,
1) put the phone in fastboot mode
2) just run the script by double clicking on it, however you need the file with data_format on the end.
If your phone does bootloop and go back to MIUI Recovery 5.0 like mine did yesterday, you can fix it by wiping all data in this recovery it boots up to and then restarting the phone. It worked for me and my friend.

I didnt know this.. I won't go to MIUI 13 again coz there are no recoveries for it and it cant be decrypted for now but its good to know that i dont need recovery for root. Thank you!
I installed today CherishOS A12. Tbh cool rom, doesn't work that bad. A lot better than miui though. Animations are nice and long, plus the phone is fast.
