Does anybody know of a USB-C cable featuring both Huawei SuperCharge and USB 3.0 SuperSpeed data trasfer rate?
I could find only cables with either one or the other feature, not both.
Also the original Huawei cable supplied supports SuperCharge (together with the original Huawei charger) but it's only USB 2.0, with max transfer rate of 480 Mbps (USB Hi-Speed) when connected to a USB 3.0/3.1 port of my desktop PC.

Well, I have purchased several cables compatible with SuperCharge, but none of them was USB 3.0, just 2.0.
I also have tried many USB C cables that were actually USB 3.0, but none of them was SuperCharge compatible.
So I'm looking for a cable that supports BOTH SuperCharge and USB 3.0 data transfer speed, but I couldn't find any so far.
I started thinking that it is not technically possible to have both features in a single cable, it's probably one or the other due to hardware limitations.
You can tell if it's USB 3.0 when you plug the phone to a USB 3.0 port on your Windows PC.
If the cable is USB 2.0 only, a pop-up saying that "This device can perform faster" will appear and the data transfer speed will be much slower.

Is there any way to connect a USB Host adapter + charge the TF at the same time? I'd like to be able to watch videos (most of which are on my USB HDD) without having to spend hours copying them all to MicroSD just so I can charge the TF (and I use it a lot in my car (while parked, not while driving obviously) and dont want to have to dock the TF to do so (the main reason I use a tablet in the car is there is so little space between me and the steering wheel))
Possibly dissecting a Datacable so it forks the charge into 1 plug and the USB into the other? or wiring in a barrel plug to one of the USB host adapters? (I'm assuming it's not possible to just use a generic USB hub and somehow reverse the power on one of the ports to allow charging...?)
Not sure if his answers your question, but essentially, the pin layout on the cable that connects to the wall charger for the Asus Transformer matches the USB 3.0 spec.
As seen here on Amazon, you'll need a USB 3.0 cable to effectively work as an extension cable for charging via the wall-outlet.
Therefore, by the same logic, if you have a USB 3.0 port on your computer, you'll be able to make use of the extra voltage to do the same thing.

I don't think the USB 3.0 on a computer will supply more than 5V and 900mA. Not enough to charger the TF.
You best bet is to use a USB 2.0 extension cord, take out the wires that go to pin 1 and pin 4 and connect those wires to a 12V power source.
Absolutely no need to use a USB 3.0 extension cord.

To answer OP's question, there's only 1 USB host port on the ASUS Transformer TF101 USB Kit. I don't think that's possible.
Confirm both replies - the Amazon-linked cable does indeed allow an extension of the power delivery from a stock power adapter, but connecting to USB 3.0 port on a PC will not charge the device. Just connected it direct too, not via a hub (even though it is a 3.0 hub - didn't work on that either...)
Suspect custom wiring required, as OP has speculated - anyone?

- a USB 3.0 port on your computer
- a USB 3.0 cable

I'm about to get a new laptop and will definitely aim for USB 3.0 if this is correct. Then you just need to buy a new micro USB 3.0 cable, like on eBay or something, true? Anyone done this yet? I'm browsing on eBay for a new cable, but the micro USB 3.0 end piece does not look like the one for my phone now. e.g.

USB 3 DOES require a USB 3 compatible device... i.e. USB 3 compatible devices on both ends...
Ah this is annoying, the first place I read it said you don't need a 3.0 device, the second place I read it said it works as fast as the slowest device - which could be 2.0. Info. is a little sparse on this, isn't it? But it's been in for a few years. Is it really worth getting 3.0 if adoption is so slow?
No, because our devices have only microUSB v2.0, so we can only have the speed of USB 2.0.
You can try, but you won't get more speed out of it.

You can use usb2.0 cable without problems, USB3.0 standard is backwards compatible with usb 2.0. You should probably get faster charge times with USB3.0 because of higher rated mA on ports...

I have heard of many problems with USB 2 devices in 3 ports. Driver issues apparently.
I look forward to phones which support USB 3 because that's now a missing link the chain - the computers selling now have the ports. I was a bit doubtful of the 'real' benefits of the speed (I was quite young when USB 2 came in) but my God, it is fantastic. I backup my hard drive frequently and I am amazed at the speed every time. :laugh:

the only problem you can have by using USB3.0 port for your smartphone, it's a driver problem.
For the speed of transfert, you need USB3 port, USB3 cable and... USB3 device .
The connector of USB3 (device side) is different from USB2 and I never saw USB3 cable with micro port (used on our smartphone).
It's a shame, I can't wait for USB 3.0 phones! I didn't care much about until I got my first USB 3.0 hard drive...wow
but why need usb 3.0?
the best would be a class 10 sdcard -- so writing files into the phone's memory card is faster.

Yep ultimately I would prefer to use a phone's flash memory. I've experimented with music library management on Android but I for my next option I think I'd go with an iOS device.

The XZ1 has a USB 3.1 C Connector right? Therefore it is capable of 5 Gbit/s (or 10?).
Within Windows 10 the tethered connection (Remote NDIS Compatible Device) is shown as a 425,9 Mbit/s Connection (Connected to a USB 3.0 ). Thats the same speed I am getting from a USB 2.0 Device.
Did I do or understand something wrong?

While it's got the Type-C USB connector, it is not clear if the port actually supports USB3.0 or higher.
The chipset is capable of that, but not sure about Sony's implementation.
I haven't yet tried to find out due to my lack of Type-C USB3 cables.
The one they shipped with the phone is a cheap USB2 one.

According to Sonys website the connector is USB 3.1 gen 5. Which means up to 5gbit/s.
How to check if the cable is USB c to a 3.1/3 or 2 without "opening"?

Interesting, they omitted the USB version info on the Compact's technical data page.
USB 3.x cables are supposed to have blue plastic inside the Type A connector.
There's also 5 additional pins behind the 4 standard ones that one could see.

Hm okay I also bought one cable which is supposed to have USB3 but it was from aliexpress so cant be sure. On the German page it is described as USB 3.1 while *5 explains that it is 3.1 gen 1 5gbit/s
FYI. I Bought a USB 3.0 Cable and now i get a 851,9Mbit/s connection (NDIS according to Windows).

Funny, I have the Anker one, but with a USB-B port. Connected in a USB-C hub, that provides HDMI out, USB-C to charge and USB-B, in which I plugged this. While the lights flicker, nothing works. I tried plugging a USB memory stick, won't read it (my Anker adapter has USB 3.0 and gigabit ethernet). But, if I plug the key directly in the USB-B port of the USB-C hub, no problem. So somehow, that one does not work for me. Anyone else been able to get an adapter to work? At best, I want something like the Dell WD15. It's an overkill, but any alternative providing ethernet, hdmi, usb-b and a mean to charge like usb-c. A mix of video ports is even better, but not required.
I can't seem to get USB 3.0 working on this tablet. I copied 30gb to a 128gb UHS 3 SD card and it copied at 17MB/s (sd card empty)
I don't know why it is so slow!
I am at work so I cannot check the original cable but the first question is "was the cable you used 3.0?", with a blue connector? I actually cannot find out the specifications of the USB port of our tablet, not sure if it supports USB 3.0 but the cable (if I remembered correctly) that came with it is not a blue cable.

I think it is USB 3.0 cable, it has a blue end to it (on USB A end) I have another cable somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment.
Those are in line with the speeds I have gotten, over a USB C cable, to a gen 2 port. I don't think it supports faster transfers.

Personally, I just think that MTP is slow AF compared to MSC. Shame that android had removed MSC support. Pulling the SD out and using a reader seems to be the only fast way these days.
I'm also talking about USB OTG here.
Given that it is a Hi Sillicon Hi 3660, there is a manual for it.
That manual states that it has USB 3.0 OTG support..

Also worth noting that MTP is down to the device speed i think, it's odd and sometimes doesn't even max USB 2.0 even on my one plus. (i don't know why, but MTP is bad).
That speed was using USB OTG, which in host mode is supported at Superspeed according to that manual, so the only thing stopping it is software, in theory.
I sent Huawei an email, and they confirmed that it hasn't got USB 3.0

hmm, after thinking about this, the hi 3660 has a USB 3.0 controller built in, and there are two modes, SS at 125MHz and HS at 60MHz, maybe a software update could change this.
I'm doubtful though, as the internal wiring might be different, and probably is.
