System UI Setting Screen? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Questions & Answers

I rebooted the S6 and when it finished I had a notification on the Lock Screen that said “System UI”. I had no idea what this meant, but when I scrolled left I got a gear, that when I pressed displayed a screen for setting a bunch of notifications (and possibly other things).
I went out and looked for how to make the System UI settings available in the Settings, but didn’t find anything that worked on the S6. Pulling down Notifications and holding the gear for "several seconds" didn't do anything, and the instructions for using the Nova Launcher don't match what comes up in the Nova widget.
Are all the settings in the System UI screen available elsewhere? Is there a reason this is hidden?
How do I open this setting screen without having to reboot the tablet?

Docking QUESTION

When i dock my phone is goes into that dock mode, displaying the 5 app icons and clock.... which i really hate.....
is there anyway to block that?
i don't see any options in my autostarts app so far...
I am not sure how to disable that but you can install a different Clock/Alarm/Dock App. Then set the new app to be used when you set the phone in the dock.
I currently have two CLOCK apps in can select which to use as the default. Once is what came with the ROM I am using the other only shows the time with the background and can be turned down fairly dim and then over time it will go black with only the time and a few dots on the bottoms of the screen from tablet mode.

Does Dashclock not work with pattern? Only with Swipe unlock?

I know that the other Samsung lockscreen widgets only work with Swipe enabled - is Dashclock the same way? Thanks

I just picked up my phone yesterday, and this was one of the first things that I had to figure out. Here are the steps that I took to get it enabled:
Go to Settings > My Device > Lock Screen
Enable the "Multiple widgets" by checking on the box.
Lock the Screen and Unlock it.
You should see the default clock / personalized message still there. Swipe down on the clock/message and you'll see the box expand. At this point, you can swipe within the extended box left and right. Go to a new tab (will have a plus sign). Select DashClock and there you have it. You'll have to move some stuff around if you want it to be your default lock screen.
Took me a little tinkering, but it's almost to where I want it.

So this will only work if Swipe is enabled? I use pattern and find using both Swipe and pattern redundant. I have to perform two actions to unlock my phone then.

Yeah, never understood why that was like that on my old phone. I have swipe currently enabled right now, I honestly haven't tried with any other unlocking method... Hold on...
Swipe seems to be the only Lock Screen that allows for "Multiple Widgets", other security options do not even allow for the option.
The problem I had with dash clock and Nils was that there is a default notification that takes focus built into the lock screen. I have yet to figure out how to remove that notification. I would always have to swipe left to see my dashclock or Nils notifications. Very frustrating.
True. Even after I've deleted all of the extra lock screen windows and made DashClock my primary lock screen, I'll still see the default/stock notifications window.
I'm wondering if it's a Verizon thing, because I've seen videos where the DC messages notification will pull up correctly (and not to the default bulky notification).
I don't know if you ever found a solutionbut, I ended up switching the message app to handcent and the default notification didn't pop up.
So that's an option.

System UI Notifications Blocked - TouchWiz

I have a weird problem. I got the Note 8 a little while ago, and everything was fine for a while. However, I one day noticed that the phone didn't show a notification when DND was on, or charging information in the notification shade when plugged in. After lots of searching, I've found that the System UI app in Settings is set to not show notifications. When I try to press the notifications in the app details, it takes me to a panel that just says System UI, and when I press it, it goes straight back to the app details, but what looks like in a new page. It's pretty much a loop, and I cannot seem to turn the notifications back on. Does anyone know how to fix this without having to reset the device? Thanks!
Download and install SystemUI Tuner, grant the permissions over ADB, then in Miscellaneous enable Power Notification Controls and then you can re-enable them.
Here is how to grant permission

Here is how to Enable USB debugging:

Terrific. Worked perfectly well on Note8. Thanks!!!!!!!!
ahhhhhhhhhhh i am looking so hard for a way to have what you have, i hate system notifications mostly because now with the oreo update it keeps bugging me to confirm that i want to disable the data when i use the quick toggle, it s an annoying popup, and i do not have that option avabile for oreo in the solution posted above

Changing color, activation of Notifications?

On the S6, when I swipe down from the top of the screen, the giant notification window shows up. This is marginally annoying normally since my home page background is 14% neutral gray, but EXTREMELY annoying at night when I'm reading on the tablet and accidentally cause the notifications to display... My bookreader is a dark-mode setup, and the notifications are blinding white when they display (yes, the screen brightness is about 10-12, but compared to the reader it's blinding)...
I've currently got the tablet in Night mode, which makes the giant notification thing black, so it's not as annoying, but it still keeps getting displayed 'cause of hand position and tablet orientation. And Night mode isn't great for "normal" use so I much prefer something that'll actually help with the notification display.
SO....
Is there a way, even if I have to use a different launcher (I'll need to know which one) to CHANGE the background color of the notification thing (and hopefully the navigation bar background)? I tried Nova Launcher, and it has things that SEEM like they should do something, but they don't change the huge white blob that appears when I swipe down.
Is there a way to CHANGE how notifications get displayed - turn OFF the swipe down from the top of the screen and use something else? If so, how do I set this up? "Do Not Disturb" mode doesn't seem to help.
Is there a way to COMPLETELY turn OFF notifications so swiping does nothing. I can't FIND anything in settings, but I figure I'm missing the "turn off notifications" switch.
I'm also interested in what answers may come. For me it's just about the color; even though I'm dark-themed everywhere using "Swift Installer - Themes & color engine", it doesn't theme the notification panel. Since the theme works everywhere else (even on system apps), this makes me think that 'notifications' is a special case, for some reason.
Curious to hear from others.
Have you tried QuickStar inside of GoodLock app from the Samsung Store? there are lots of mods you can do in there like change the color of the notification pull down.
Thanks. That works pretty well. I can change all the colors on the notification so at least the notification is a black background.
Status bar at the bottom is still bright but that's smaller than the big notification thing. Definitely makes me miss the old Android 6 thing where it just put a couple tiny icons at the top and I had to specifically hit them to see notifications. Never accidentally opened the notifications.
Is there any way to CHANGE the activation for the notifications so they DON'T show up when I don't want them to?

In which directory does SystemUI Tuner store data/user preferences?

Thought I would post my question to this general Q&A thread, as the Pixel 3a community is pretty small and my specific question isn't necessary device/ROM specific.
Background: I'm on a Pixel 3a running the January update (QQ1A.200105.002). Unlocked, stock, rooted with Magisk v20.2. Only using 3 Magisk modules (systemless hosts enabled for ad blocking, YouTube Vanced, and a custom font).
What happened: While cleaning my screen with a microfiber after work a few nights ago, I accidentally launched the SystemUI Tuner. I had created a gesture within Nova Launcher to access the SystemUI Tuner. It launched and toggled the "plugins" setting on & off. I then navigated to the homescreen. My wallpaper was gone and the background on my homescreen was black. Also, my 2 button gesture navigation was not present and my status bar was gone. I rebooted. This is when I found myself in a bootloop at the "Pixel is starting..." screen (a screen I had never seen prior to this).
Attempts to fix: Through a tip from another user I was able to get back into the phone by disabling my PIN screen lock security via adb. I did this by launching Settings via abd with:
Code:
adb shell am start -a android.settings.SETTINGS
After disabling screen lock security, my phone would boot, sort of. Many SystemUI elements are not operational (e.g, no gesture navigation, status bar, notification panel, or wallpaper, etc.) . It's unusable as a daily, but I really don't want to wipe and set up all over again if possible. Does anyone know where in /system the settings data for the System UI Tuner is stored? Another user suggested I look for: data/data/com.android.sytstemui.tuner. That directory does not exist, unfortunately. This user experienced this same series of events (i.e., toggled SystemUI Tuner "plugins" and ended up with no wallpaper at the "Pixel is starting" loop). The user tried sideloading the corresponding OTA image, flashing a full system image with "-w" removed to save data, safe mode. Nothing seemed to help. Before I spend hours setting up my phone after a clean install, does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
TL;DR: Does anyone know where the system saves setting preferences configured via the SystemUI Tuner?
