BT Sound Problem with B&O H9i - OnePlus 7T Pro (Regular & McLaren) Q & A

Hey,
ive got my new 7t Pro straight a few days back and what to say ? Im absolutley amazed from this smoothnes & speed of this device. Never see something else before.. Im coming from Samsung.
The Only thing that hurts is, that my BT Headset is much more silent on 7t Pro, then on my other Samsung devices (Note 9, Note 8(wife), S7e). No matter wich Sammy Device i tested..the sound is around ~30% louder and on top, the bass and the whole feeling of Sound ist much more flat then on Samsung.
What ive done so far:
Ive checked Dev Options, and all seems good. AAC Codec is Set, the Streamquality is set correct and yeah..looks good.
Ive installed and re-installed the B&O App, but makes no Difference, Sound is bad with and without this App.
And i tested these Options on Oneplus, DAtmos & Headphonesettings. No one of this things make anything better, i guess it was bader then before. Just saying, i never used DAtmos or smiliar on this BT Headset, because it sounds nearly perfect out of the Box for my ears. So just in case i would test it too, but no notable difference.

at the moment im speaking with OnePlus devs about fix Mic sound quality drops from Bluetooth headphones

*Update*
Today, i called Oneplus & Bang and Olufson. Oneplus cant do much, but Bang and Olufsen says, must be a Softwarebug, cause they dont know any problems between oneplus & B&O. So maybe they can fix this with a future Update, must recall them tomorrow. However, if anyone hase the same Problem, please contact Bang and Olufson, you will get serios help and good support. Thank you all for your replies !

BlueAnt X5 A2DP Stereo Headphones

Ok...
I haven't found anyone else that would admit to trying these headphones with my phone (Dopod 838 Pro).
The headphones themselves are pretty cool. They fit pretty well, don't look toooo dorky, and the buttons click nicely etc. I haven't had them go flat on me yet. They could have come with a protective case though, and you have to take the microphone off to charge them, and I'm always afraid I will lose it.
When I first got them, they sounded crap. AM radio crap. I updated them to the latest firmware from the BlueAnt website (what a drama).
Tested, and they worked ok with the dongle - not exactly hifi sound, but the quality was ok to listen to.
Next I called BlueAnt HQ here in Australia, and after getting put through to a tech support guy he told me "They should work fine, I tried them with an iMate JasJam - no problems. Do a reset and try re-pairing them" (Duh).
Then I called the Dopod support line in Australia. During business hours. It goes through to an answering machine that doesn't even have an introduction message. Left a message. No reply.
Just as I was about to return them, I found the A2DP software tweak/patch on the wiki. First let me just say:
AAARRRGHHHH! What they hell are Microsoft thinking? Why have a registry setting \HKLM\StereoMusic\MakeMyMusicSoundLikeCrap=1 setting in the first place, and THEN why ship all phones with that enabled as the default? How many people have returned perfectly functioning Bluetooth headsets because of that? STUPID. I reckon Microsoft/HTC owe BlueAnt (and others) a truck load of money.
Secondly, that helps. Music is now stereo. I've been using them every day for a few weeks now. The bad news:
1) The quality is still very poor. There is a metallic hissing/sizzling/sibilance sound, especially noticeable on female vocals, which sounds (to me) exactly like a poor bitrate encoding error. The quality is much worse than when I pair it to the dongle it came with. I suspect it is the phone (or the MS BT stack) at fault not the headset. I would really like to be able to fix this.
2) With Wifi enabled, the music cuts out every few seconds. Unlistenable.
3) With Wifi disabled, I get the occasional glitch. I can live with that (if I must)
4) Using the headset profile during a phonecall, the sound I hear isn't too bad (a little muffled) but people tell me I sound really distant and hard to hear.
5) The AVRCP support is dodgy. Most of the time it works. Often when I first hit Play, it plays for a few seconds and then stops. I have to hit Play/Pause again and it starts. Track seek and volume up/down seem to work well. Answering a phone seemed hit and miss at first, but seems to mostly be working now. Not sure if this is the phone or the headset.
The iMate JasJam listed in the compatitabilty section of the BlueAnt website, but the Dopod 838 Pro is not. I emailed BlueAnt with my findings, and suggested they add the A2DP hack to their FAQ for other users. Hasn't appeared yet.
So, my questions:
1) Has anyone tried these headphones on a Hermes device? Does your experience mirror mine? Or is one of my devices faulty? Is the voice quality on the headset profile ok?
2) Is there a Widcomm (?) stack that works on the Hermes that may fix the problem, or...is it likely to be any better with WM6?
3) Does anyone have an A2DP headset of any brand working on a Hermes with "Crystal clear CD quality sound" like it says on the box the headphones came in. If so, what brand? If it is possible to get a good sound out of the MS BT stack, it might be worth pushing BlueAnt to release a new firmware to fix the issues.
4) Would a Bluetooth 2.0 headset give a better result? (Is it a bandwidth issue?)
Any replies would be helpful.
Thanks guys,
Zilch.
Yep I have an X5 unit connected to my Imate Jasjam and have not updated the firmware.
Yes it did skip when I first tried it but after a bit of experimenting, discovered turning off WiFi fixed it.
Yes it was mono till I did the reg hack to make it stereo.
No I don't get any hiss and think the quality is great (I know this is subjective but I tested female vocals as you suggested and they were great -Croncrete Blond, Eurythmics, Dyvinals, and even Chris Issac)
You may want to go here http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/default.aspx to realise the complications/dificulties the Ms WM guys are up against. I am sure they had a good reason to set the default to mono (maybe some devices didn't work at all with it set to stereo)
I would have to suggest there are other issues with your setup that are compromising the playback quality. I honsetly am impressed.
I don't use it as a phone headset as I use the X3 model to connect to two phones (I like Blue Ant stuff), so I can't comment on the mic quality.
When you consider that most people are having a nightmare with their stereo headsets (read the Widicom thread, if you have a lifetime to spare), then I am totally impressed with Blue Ant.
Sorry to have to disagree with you.

Hmm...ok. Are you saying that the quality from your JasJam is the same as if you used the supplied Bluetooth Dongle that comes with the X5? (That's my goal currently)
If so, maybe there is some sort of configuration difference between the JasJam and the Dopod. (The JasJam is on the compatibility list, and the support guy did say he had used it ok)
I'm not just being an anal hifi buff here. The sound quality is obviously poor, and quite noticeable. You probably don't have it, but if you listen to the track 'Lithum' by 'Evanescense' it makes you cringe when the vocals come in (the piano sounds relatively normal. It's noticable in all tracks, but specifically in tracks like that.
Did you use this utility to tweak the A2DP sound settings? Or edit the registry manually (if so, can you tell me what settings you used?)

I don't really accept that as a valid reason. Sure they have problems. The least they could do is make a user tweakable UI to change that setting. It's not acceptable to have a protocol designed for stereo music set to mono and no way for a user to change it.

I haven't used the dongle for a long time but when I did it was thru my HiFi playing CDs not MP3 so there may have been a difference in quality but never bothered to compare as I never had a problem with the playback quality from my Imate.
I did a manual reg fix using the wiki recommendations of 48 and 0.
I have model H1.
You may be right that the Imate is configured a little differently but I also run it very clean.
I have so few problems compared to what I read that I feel embarressed that I'm so lucky. As an IT consultant I just luv it as my work phone - I use VPN, Terminal Services, WiFi, Push Email, internet access, etc... and it's a phone! Constantly impressed.

Just for the record, I got the headphones a few days after I got the phone. The only thing I had done was put my SIM card in, copy a few MP3s and change the default theme (since the Dopod one is grey).
There were no mods/hacks/cooked ROMS/tweaks etc. Just the ROM it came with which is also the latest version on the Dopod website. My phone is supplied to me by work, so I need it to be as reliable as possible - I can't afford to mess around with it. (Which is one of the reasons I resent having to edit the registry to get some stereo headphones to play in stereo)
Note: Today I have a few apps installed. An RSS reader, train timetable, TomTom etc. Only hack is the registry change for A2DP, and a util which sets the soft input to Block Recognition mode on startup. None of these seem to have affected the quality of the A2DP stream in any way though.
Unless I can try my headphones with someone's JasJam, or another Dopod I'm not sure I'm going to be able to narrow down the issue. I think it has to be a difference in the X4 hardware/firmware or an issue with the Dopod ROM (compared to the JasJam one)

I have it as a work phone too - and work in IT. I haven't had any issues with it except Windows Media Player losing the tracks on the storage card, and the device locking up from time to time (this is always when I am not using it - it is turned off and does not turn back on). Overall it's a great phone!

I was actually considering getting an X3 as well (they look cool), but I will wait until I have worked out the issues with my X5.
Just thinking about this. How does it work? You are bopping along to your perfect A2DP sound, and you somehow hear the phone ringing, so you take off the stereo headphones, get your X3 out of your pocket, insert it in your ear, and answer the phone!?

Don't use X5 at work, but when I'm relaxing at the beach or around the pool. Use X3 connected to my Imate and my private phone at work. AT the time it was the only headset that would connect to more than one device and works great.

... but i shake my head in disbelief when I read some of the things ppl do.
Kupur was applauding an admitted newbie who, after 1 hr of owning his device decided it wasn't right and flashed it with some cooked rom, upgraded the radio, and SIM/CID unlocked it!!
How can this guy have any point of referance? How can he know he has made an improvement if he never bothered to use it properly in it's std state? And he will no doubt curse and abuse Ms and HTC for producing crap hardware and software.
As you say each to their own but it's hard for me to understand some ppls mentality.

If I was tempted to do that, right after getting it is probably when I would do it. Reloading all your stuff sucks. Plus if he needed it SIM unlocked to use it that could be why.
Plus, what a better way to learn than bricking a $900 brand new phone?

To answer my own question in case anyone else is having this issue...it's all fixed with the official WM6 ROM. Works perfectly. (Except for the dropouts when WiFi is enabled)
yeah I have them and have had for quite some time now ... first used them with my Eten G00 then the G500+, then I changed phones to a nokia n73 and things didn't seem so good. anymore I lost the remote functions and even though I like the new phone I missed some things like nav and others so i went back tot he g00+. I have now updated to the HTC Tytn II I think sim to your hermes ....
I find nothing wrong the x5 controls a re great and quality is exceptable... I have no issues with Wifi.. I have the updated firmeware on my x5 and the stock firmware on my tytn II..
I also have a hs850 paired to the device the only thing I deslike on the hole issue is that everytime I use the x6 I have to fiddle around getting them to resume the pairing.
where as my hs-850 I just turn on blue tooth and turn on the headset... and off we go...
I have the x5 set as default headset and default stereo headset... the hs850 is just another device listed and pairs up soon as its turned on.
Can someone post me the headset firmware and how to use it?

I'm actually thinking of unbranding my phone just because I can. But it's just to get rid of like one or two pre-installed programs.
i am on firmware 1.6 and it doesnt solve anything, its really really bad! the volume is ridiculous I can hardly hear anyone unless I go into a room where theres no noise at all! SE need to fix this
volume at max is not even iphone at half
Volume is terrible, i keep squeezing the phone into my ear.... what i don't understand is who ever listened to the phone and said ooooh this is good, how is he not FIRED
if this phone ever gets released in the US with the same problem i am complaining to the FCC. it seems someone to do something about it, (remember what happened to Toyota?)
I honestly dont think a firmware can increase/fix the volume issue, i honetly think the speaker is at its limits, i even hear distortion some times, telling me my volume way to loud for the speaker capacity, although i can BARLEY hear something.
Terrible
Yea, I cant say that the volume is loud, but I found out a solution that works for me.
Actually the screen seems to pick up the vibrations from the speaker, so if you instead of holding your ear against the speaker move your ear slightly down so that you actually have your ear on the top part of the screen instead... then the volume is much better!!
Just a tip.
And for SE: I noticed that only the higher pitched frequencies causes distort in the small speaker. Analyze the speaker and identify which frequencies that causes distortion and filter those frequencies out. Sacrifice those frequencies for a louder volume!
Regards // R
I read somewhere that they put the phone in test mode and forced the volume higher and worked.
Which would mean the hardware is capable of higher volume its just bad software.
This issue bugs me big time, and I'm quite dissapointed :-/
Any news on SonyEricsson solving this issue?
I've read that the X10 mini does have a much better loudspeaker. How can this be when it's an even smaller phone?
I strongly(!) hope that SE will fix it! A phone that is useless for phone calls? Than I can buy an iPod touch :-(
there is a 'volume hack' app but works only for rooted devices.
same problem..can hardly hear when on the street or in public place.
i enable speaker..and keep the loudspeaker near my ear.

Does anybody know if Sonyericsson is aware of this low volume issue?
Do they want to adress this issue with a soft- or hardwarefix?

Actually, the number of problems is far, far, far, far, faaaaaaar less than you think it is. Being on a board for people needing technical support for their phones will make you think there's a lot more anger and problems than there really are. It's the nature of the internet.
Think about it, if there were really that many shopstopping problems, the phone would have gone through a recall by now. You can't let this forum (or any other tech support forum) give you any sort of indication of percentage of users with problems.
Same problem here... German o2 X10i (R2BA026). Speaker volume set to max. but still can't hear the other side It's a shame...
EDIT: oops... have to change my Avatar and Signature Hihi

[Q] Poor sound quality of music through headphones

Hi,
I really hope i dont have a faulty device, but the sound through my headphones (which have been working a day before on my beloved htc hero perfectly) is rather week, 75% maybe of the top volume i could reach on my hero.
I've already tried this in the default music app, and also on Jango Radio (internet music app).
the sound is rather week and also kind of not crystal clear.
is anybody else having this problem? and what can i do about it?
thanks alo!
Yes, actually I have the same thing, and I think a software problem with the music player, it stops when I raise the volume or when i press on the 5.1 ch icon or sometimes on it's own

Working fine!!
I've been using other earphones, but when i tried the one coming with the phone......blast!!!! that's y it was giving me problems!
Super dooper!!
sorry SGS II i underestimated u!!
Definitely the best phone ever up till now
I also noticed really bad quality with the stock headset.. After trying with the headphones from an iPod, the sound quality was much better.. So i guess the problem is really the stock headset.
The stock headphones are pretty bad. I don't get low volume. In fact, I get large amounts of distortion on higher volumes when using headphones. The sound quality is poor, but after tweaking with an EQ (PowerAMP!) it can be some-what salvaged.
There are also options in music player itself (equaliser and effects). For me it is sufficient to improve quality to desired level.
Is audio level & quality same as galaxy S
I am confused between Galaxy sII & xperia neo. I am shifting from Galaxy S, I got the phone refunded from samsung before this I have a wave, that also was refunded by samsung. Its obvious that I am a bit afraid going for samsung this time but still feel they are the best. I got this info from research that Galaxy SII doesn't have a good audio quality in comparison with the legendry Galaxy S. I can't afford to take risk for a 30K phone if it doesn't play good music because carrying an Ipod is virtually impossible if u already have S II in ur pocket. Thats the reason I have narrowed down to galaxy S II or Xperia Neo. But I need to confirm if its not even to galaxy s level in terms of audio quality and volume levels, plz help me folks, I am waiting for some helping replies and plz don't blind fold urself being loyal to ur device becoz my respect for Samsung is immortal, its just that I can't spend 30K blindly. I will have to consider the music segment.

Hi,
I really hope i dont have a faulty device, but the sound through my headphones (which have been working a day before on my beloved htc hero perfectly) is rather week, 75% maybe of the top volume i could reach on my hero.
I've already tried this in the default music app, and also on Jango Radio (internet music app).
the sound is rather week and also kind of not crystal clear.
is anybody else having this problem? and what can i do about it?
thanks alo!

Just do a fine tuning on your volume settings with the 'Samsung Secret Codes'
See this thread for guidance: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069015
Although for hearing music I had no problems, it was necessary for me to boost the headset volume for voice calls.
oh common, stop with this volume settings with Samsung secret codes, that has been posted by many here that this thing doesn't work. The numbers are re setting themselves back to original. The overall volume is just too low on this phone. I hope the 2.3.4. will adjust it higher.
Highly recommended:
To get clear sound from your Galaxy S II, simply install the free version of the brilliant "Equalizer"-app from Market. It has a five-band equalizer. From there you can increase the levels of the desired frequencies, treble, bass, midrange etc. The Galaxy S II has far to low default treble. This app takes care of that No root, no hassle.
There is also a paid version, but it is just needed if you want more than one custom preset.
But What about the levels of volume? Is it at par with the old Galaxy S?

Well, I'm sorry for your insoluble problem, but I effectively fixed my volume problem in a permanent way (with various reboots with unchanged config after tweaking) using these codes.
I do apologise for my useless advice. I was only trying to help.
I hope you find a solution for your problems soon.

Actually, I've solved my volume problems following the guide of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741012 . and not the other one that I mentioned above. Unfortunately, it seems that it applies only for voice and video call volume, not for the media player. That said, I have to say that my music player is very loud, either using the headset or the speaker. I'm using the KE7 stock ROM.
Best of luck for you all guys.
the link you provide is for the old Galaxy S1, and even there guys complain about low level of EAR SPEAKER, and that the tweaked numbers reverse back to original after phone restart or re boot. So my question is: how did you make the new numbers to stay on your phone? I am using same KE7 and stock firmware as well. I can't raise the volume by these codes at all, doesnt stay not even 2 phone calls. Can you reveal the magic how did you do it? ( no offense to you at all, I am just helpless because I can't barely hear people calling me, driving in my car - Mercedes btw...)
Thank you for your help
Most stores (in Sweden anyway) have the phone so you can try it yourself, just go to a shop where either a manager carries it or the store has a demo of it and bring your headphones! You can't go wrong with that!
I have a really nice piece of Denon's (AH-D1001) and even though the phone can't power as well as the older galaxy s, I get a really natural good sound with mine and it's just loud enough. No EQ needed.

Yes, the original thread was for the ancient SGS1, nevertheless, the command still works for the SGS2 (at least for my device). Before I did the 'fine tuning' on my volume settings (following the SGS1 guide on the mentioned thread), I could barely hear the other person's voice in a phone call while using the headset. Now I adjust the volume around 70-75% for making phone calls using the headset, which is more than enough for me. I didn't do anything different than the guide says, and I have no idea why it doesn't work for your device.

Audio problems

So..before buying these Xiaomi Hybrid Pro HD earphones, I had some panasonics that worked perfectly
Now, whenever I try to listen to music using these xiaomi hybrid pro hd's on my redmi note 3 , the sound starts intrerupting in the right earbud.. it only happens when theres too much low bass or when the sound is above 50%.
I tried these headphones on my old s4 active, on my pc, and they work perfectly there.
Why is it that they only have problems on my redmi ? And why them? other headphones have no problems..
I tried updating with a new ROM, it still doesnt work. Im at 8.2.4.0 miui
anyone?
Try using a different pair of headphones on ur redmi, if the issue persists i recommend reflashing your rom
@AgentBuBu
I tried other headphones and they all work perfectly fine..instead of this one..
and ive also tried these xiaomi hybrids to my pc and a old samsung galaxy s4 active and they sound good there.
so idk what to do..
Check on the system built in sound effects for the headphones, tweak the settings in there, see if you can find any fix, if not, according to what you said that the device doesn't show any hardware issue related to the sound output, reinstall the rom. For this there are thousands of threads you can find detailing it step by step. Good luck

I tried to,but nothing really fixes it. I even updated my ROM from miui 7 ,7.1.99.99 *unofficial* to miui 8 official stable 8.2.4.0..and its the same. I did see on a youtube video a guy with a xiaomi reviewing some headphones..and he had this option called smth like " HD Audio" activated..it was right between the eq and miui sound improvement thing in the audio/headphones section..and I dont have it.. i think that might do the trick..but i cant find the video anymore ,and I dont know what miui he had. do u have a clue?
Issue sounds hardware related to the earphones. Do you have a case on your phone? Is the 3.5mm jack bent a bit by any chance? Maybe some pocket lint in the 3.5mm port? If all you've done software wise is updated MIUI it's highly likely it isn't going to do anything, you'd have to factory reset too.

Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus - Sound recording issue

Hi,
I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this issue or if I have been very unlucky to get the same issue on two different phones!
The issue is; when recording video or recording just sound in any sound recorder app, the playback come out very poorly and inconsistent. The sounds wavers in volume and quality, frankly, it's not much use.
To be clear, this is only when playing back recordings made by the user. Audio playback for websites and MP3 is perfectly fine.
I can only find one mention of this when Googling and that was on this forum here https://forum.xda-developers.com/swift-2/help/record-sound-swift-2-t3632541.
This sounds very much like the issue but there was no further mention of it.
Having already returned two, I'm not prepared to go through the stress of dealing with their awful customer service again (had to fall on my sword to Amazon to get the last one replaced only to find it had the same issue).
Given that there are 2,250 reviews for this device on amazon, I would really like to know if anyone else has noticed this? I am assuming, if it IS a firmware fault, then it will be fixed in further updates but it's incredibly annoying as I have what is otherwise a pretty good phone!
I don't use the video function THAT much but I would like the option to do it with decent sound if ever required!
Any feedback on this would be very much appreciated.
(I have previously factory reset the phone and tried the secondary audio codec in the video settings but neither made any difference).
I tried to record some sound yesterday and it came out awfully. Annoying indeed. (oh and my phone was factory reset since upgrading to Nougat)
Now I've never even tried to do this until today (and I've had the phone since spring) so it's not very important to me - but I'll mention it to Wileyfox on a forum where I know they're listening in.

Thanks, that would be great. Good to know I'm not the only one! I sent it back to Wileyfox explicitly detailing the fault but all they did was keep it for three weeks and perform a factory reset. Very disappointing. Hopefully, this will be addressed in a future update.

Hi Phil, I tried this today in normal circumstances (= not a noisy concert) and it seems to work fine when I just record my voice and footsteps
Was your issue also related to noisy circumstances? That would be a valuable information for Wileyfox.

Hi, no, the environment makes no difference, I can record me talking or a loud guitar or music from my laptop and they all sound terrible. I will try to upload an example if I am able to on this site.
