Android 10 coming out December 16th in Canada - Samsung Galaxy S10 Guides, News, & Discussion

https://forum.telus.com/t5/Mobility/Software-Update-Schedule/ta-p/53566 finally ?

Good news

Good to know, thx for the news

Nice. Been waiting for this.

I usually look forward to the updates but the beta has been rock solid for me this time so I don't mind the wait. If the US phones are scheduled for January then my unlocked phone won't get the release till almost February anyway.

Why did they make the US dead last? I'm confused

So the carriers can sign off on it, it's always been that way. The majority of Samsung phones are sold through the carriers so they get the final say.

Why Samsung makes the unlocked phone owners wait until after the carrier phones I don't have a clue though.

Now it's december 23

Nope. Still the 16th.

Look at his link^^

I have my own link.

This is the international version. You can buy it unlocked and use it on AT&T, but the U.S. Variants haven't been announced.

This is a phone discussion forum, not a carrier forum. I see no reason why you should post this here. Try the off-topic forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=261

Why does everybody assume that the big two will get it first? The Vibrant was released first on T-Mobile, it might just be that case this time around too.

correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't T-Mobile USA just bought by AT&T? just sayin'
You think they're going to let an 80 million subscriber company swallow a 30 million one? And plus, that doesn't get in the way of phone releases. There's still a year to go: plenty of time to sell a variant of the SGSII on T-Mo.

Alright so I was off on the subscriber numbers. That still doesn't change the fact that this deal right now is most likely not going to happen. As the articles you posted say, removing T-Mo from the picture would relieve the pressure the carrier puts on the others with its low prices not to mention a significant amount of people that are against the acquisition, including several members of the FCC.
EDIT- Fixed a few grammatical errors.

You are right. do not know why you are being harassed here
TMo will be doing its own business for at least a year.
It will release its own variant of SGS2. I would not be surprised if ATT again has a unique to it shape.

Thank you. I have no idea why either. I'm just pointing out a few things that should be taken into account with the question the OP is asking.

Why bother waiting for a contract-chaining, feature-deprived, update-delayed, support-deficient, bloat-filled, subsidized version? The international version is 100% compatible with AT&T.

Oh I see your point. But "att already has it" is not correct, speaking your language it WILL have it on May 1st.
And to answer your "why bother question" - because it will be 3.5x cheaper subsidized, it can be freely swapped at AT&T if anything is wrong with the set, and it will carry a one year warranty. Some people prefer this to having no bloatware .
And I HOPE since there is no more exclusivity to iPhone, AT&T won't be maiming features of its android phones.
That said, if I hear that AT&T is releasing at end of July, I will probably buy an import
Wow... quite descriptive.
Ultimately, you will enjoy this device more as how Samsung envisioned it. Although, if you cannot afford the international rates, then the ATT / TMO versions will not differ to much aside from the Software. That can always be modified later on.

I was told today in AT&T store that ICS is coming this week.
But I can't find anything from official websites.

I would be absolutely amazed if it did. It's likely an employee that either doesn't know what they're talking about and have heard that Samsung is releasing ICS soon, or someone just saying whatever you want to hear to make a sale.

Agreed. lol
The list that is attached and linked to only states IF a device will receive ICS, not WHEN. So the title of this thread is completely misleading.
"Soon" is a condition of time, not intention. The phrase you're looking for is
"ICS will be coming"
But then, of course, we would all respond..."uh, yeah, we know"
http://www.androidcentral.com/att-provides-ics-list-nothing-surprise-us
I'm sorry for being brash but it seems like an attempt to generate fictitious hype.
By definition, "soon" for the US carriers= forever....to never.
Don't be surprised if at&t doesn't release official ICS until next year...when basically the Note 2 should be released by then.
Typical US carriers' method of sucker-punching people to buy out-dated phones (doesn't usually apply to XDA anyways...)

They released a ICS update pretty quickly for the HTC Vivid and there are already plenty of Betas out for the Samsung Galaxy S II | Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket as well as the Note. AFAIK T-Mobile doesn't have any expect release dates for ICS on their Galaxy S II model.

Please check this link to see when it will start being pushed:
http://www.htc.com/us/go/htc-software-updates/
As of this post, it is still in "Certification". No-one will receive the update until it changes to "Push to Customer".
I had no idea that HTC has a website for update status.
There has been a delay we were supposed to have the update pushed today, but of course carriers are cooking bloatware on the update so it was been delayed for at least 2 weeks more

That link is useless. Sprint has made the update available as of today and the page shows no change. Hopefully T-Mobile will follow soon enough.

Page does reflect the change now. Probably doesn't update but every so often especially since its the carrier pushing the OTA. Someone in the sprint forum said a friend with TMO was getting the update as well about 20 minutes ago.

I am not a fan of T-Mobile bloating stuff more than other carriers and they are far too slow. I might buy a dev edition phone next time by.

If you're S_Off/unlocked just convert it to Dev, International, or GPe. Problem solved.
Can't wait for the OTA zip to get posted. (Will post if I get the update, obviously...)

I would, but my phone craps out far too often. I think I will wait for the OTA to be available, but I do know I will probably a dev edition or something with wifi calling without bloat, but thanks for the suggestion.

I've heard rumor that some folks on T-Mob have gotten the update, but no-one has been able to verify or provide proof as of yet, and the update site has not been updated to reflect it if it is true.

The development takes months, then testing, which is usually couple of weeks. Unless it is a typo
