Mate 10 Pro Bricked - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi guys, long time ago, I bricked my phone (hard brick i think)
I was trying to install exposed or root, not sure what I was doing back then,
then the phone always in loop when I try to run it, there's only two thing that I can access to, eRecover (useless) and fastboot.
all I know about my phone is BLA-L29
I tried to download and use fastboot to flash system.img, I did that, but nothing happen.
I'm so bad at this, I have no idea what I'm doing, I searched a lot, but apparently I'm stuck.... help me out please. thanks

You should try the DLOAD method, but you must know the cust (c432, c636, etc.) too, not only the model (in your case BLA-L29).

Try with this fastboot command : fastboot oem get-build-number
Or check on the box. You could also try checking with IMEI/SN on Huawei's website.

Thanks I'll check that, right now I looked up the dload method, it seems that it uses a SD Card, my Phone does not have a SD Card slot, will I be able to use dload even still?
Thanks
EDIT:
I checked mine, it says BLA-L29 8.0.0.129(C185)
using fastboot oem get-build-number

You can use an OTG cable with an USB stick, Memory Card reader, etc.

Good, I'm downloading BLA-L29 8.0.0.129(C185) update.zip file, I'll extract it and copy the UPDATE.APP file to a folder named dload in the root of a memory stick, plug it in a USB Type C to USB Type A
then turning on the phone by pressing volume up + volume down + power button until Huawei logo appears.
and that's it, hopefully everything goes well.
Thanks

Probably this firmware will work for you - > https://androidhost.ru/7oq <- read the instructions inside the firmware. You will also found infos about DLOAD here on Mate 10 forums.

Just drag the "dload" folder into the root of otg storage, then proceed with the buttons combo.
Better to format the usb storage as exFAT

Thanks, I'm downloading yours as we speak,
I've downloaded this one:
http://huawei-update.com/firmware/6343/huawei-mate-10-pro/bla-l29
but after I tried the combination, I got massage says "Software Install failed"
is it because of my copy? or was it something else?

I just downloaded your file, I dragged and dropped the dload folder into a formatted USB stick (exFAT) but still, gives me the following error: (Software Install Failed)
maybe worth mentioning, I did (a year ago) install TWRP then I uninstalled it, does this have to do with anything?

You mean a year ago? I don't really remember, but if you mean now, I tried this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76060051&postcount=10
it doesn't say which version
and for some reason my phone is unrecognized when I enter Fastboot. I tried multiple drivers, but I always end up with usb not recognized by windows

Try this :
1) Download BLA-L29 C185 8.0.0.129 firmware from Firmware Finder
2)Extract system, kernel and recovery_ramdisk from update.app
3)Flash the extracted images with fastboot
4) Try again with the DLOAD method
P. S. You could also try to do a Factory Reset before step 4.
Edit: Windows 10 might require a fix for the drivers, iirc. Otherwise you could try a Linux Live setup (you can find one on XDA, especially designed for ADB and Fastboot use).

I have two problems now :/
Extracting system.img takes for ever, as I'm writing now, it's still extracting, even tho the bar is full.
the second problem is, I couldn't find "recovery_ramdisk"
there is "RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img" and there is "RAMDISK.img"
which one is it?

So I flashed 4 files:
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
fastboot flash ramdisk RAMDISK.img
fastboot flash kernel KERNEL.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
using the Live Linux you mentioned.
Now I'll go back to the dload and see if it works

Guide to rollback huawei p10 from oreo to nougat

Hi,(I am spanish sorry about my english)
after a long time searching how to rollback finally I have found the way thanking to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/success-downgrade-oreo-to-nougat-t3729659.
In the thread the way to rollback isn't very extended explained so i decided to create mine and explain easy.
My phone is a Huawei P10 L29c432B.... .
Steps:
1- Download HWOTA8 from--https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2D9GdWntw69U3N2aDEzZjY2S1E/view
2-Download Firmare L29C900B217 or L09C900B217 depending your model (only are 2 downloads) fromhttp://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=VTR-L29c900&firmware_page=0
3-Delete the row "echo - - update_package...... update_data public. zip..." from the file "META-INF>com>google>android>update-binary" from hwota8_update.zip from the downloaded folder HWOTA8.
4. Create HWOTA8 folder and copy the following files: hwota8_update and MHA_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.img (from HWOTA8 folder), and the downloaded firmware files. After copu the firmware files you have to rename them one has to be named "update.zip" and the other one "update_all_hw.zip" (don't write.zip extension).
5- Now you have to rewrite the recovery with twrp, for that you have to go to fastbood (VOL- and Power) mode and connect to the pc. Then go to Uncompresed HWOTA8 folder and run "Replace_Recovery.bat" after that you will have the recovery TWRP installed.
6- Finally you have to to go to recovery pressing VOL+ and power button then go to Install adn search sd_external and inside HWOTA8 folder from sd card install "hwota8_update.zip". The device will resboot and start installing the nougat rom, but after that you will have to rebrand to L29c432.... to unlock all the functions.
That's all now you will have your device rollbacked from Oreo to Nougat.
Hi!
Thx for this guid, it seems to be clearly and good to understand! I have only one problem: i can not find the row "echo - - update_package...... update_data public. zip..." from the file "META-INF>com>google>android>update-binary" from hwota8_update.zip from the downloaded folder HWOTA8 for changing... ???
I tried with notepad++, but i can not do this... How did you get this step working?
Thx a lot!

You have to unzip the hwota8_update.zip file into another location, edit the extracted update_binary file and then repack the zip. The update_binary file in HWOTA8_<date>.zip is a binary file and shouldn't be edited with a text editor.

When the phone is off an you will hold "Power" and "Volume+" button to boot into TWRP, just hold "Volume+" after phone is vibrating... Then you will boot into TWRP...

The fact is that the recovery proccess is a **** in this model. Try to power completely off the phone and the Pess POWER + VOL+ when you feel the phone vibrates retire the press of power button and still pressing VOL+ button by this way sometime it goes ok. If TWRP load go ahead with the followings steps.
Other way it to reinstall again TWRP untill it loads.
Let me know if you suceed, good luck.

non-functional link?
How exactly is it to be?

just to let you know that nothing worked,
went to a shop, they tried everything, uploaded older firmwares, but after that the phone died, only black screen, couldn't even switch it on.
warranty did the trick
the guys replaced the mainboard, nothing else helped
so i'm waiting now for the official update
Good day! Can I use this method for installing Official Oreo from Beta? What I would like to do, is skip the deleting of row then just flash the twrp and continue with installation process.
I'm on VTR-L29C636B361.
I would like to rollback to Nougat, for root reasons. I'm trying to follow this method, but I'm not able to find the right files. All I succeded to find is the "update.zip", from Firmware Finder website, but no signs regarding others mentioned ("update_all_hw.zip"). Where can I dowload the right files?
Moreover: I flashed TWRP 3.2.1. I would like to go back on stock recovery, but again I'm facing a lot of problems. I would like to extract from update.app I have (from "update.zip" above mentioned), but HuaweiUpdateExtractor gives me a lot of error. Any help?
Thanks!

At the HWFF website the link leads you to you need to click the "filelist" (not only the "update"), that will give you links to all the files needed.
For the rest I am not sure, would also like to get back to the stock recovery but so far found no way to do so...

Hi, I have one question
Your phone was VTR-L29 C432 and you used the firmware of VTR-L29 C900, so can I use the C900 in any version to rollback and after that, what would be my version? C432 or C900?
I'm asking because for some reason I have VTR-L09 8.0.0.046(04VT) and I want to rollback, then rebrand and finally upgrade to VTR-L29 C432 with a custom kernel.
Thanks a lot!
This guide realy work ??
hello, I test by cons I have a problem, once flash hwota8_update.zip, it tries to restart in recovery and redémre on oreo, a solution?
Hello, I have a problem in the rocovery that I flash wota8_update.zip I have E: unknown command [errno]
Updater process ended with ERROR: 9
Error installing zip file '/external_sd/HWOTA8/update.zip
Maybe this is a silly question. Do we need to change the recovery file since MHA is a code name for MATE 9. P10 use VTR. Is it still usable?

Honor 9,No Os, No TWRP, No fastboot.

So after a while of tinkering with my Honor 9 trying to flash Supersu via TWRP everything got messed up.
Tried doing a clean install, and that made everything worse.
So now i am stuck with no TWRP Recovery and cannot load the Fastboot. Only option available now is Huawei eRecovery through wifi that obviously doesnt work, and forced recovery (vol+ and vol- and powerbutton) which is also not working trying to flash with stockrom.
So what can i do now? am i missing something?

Do you have your PC connected via USB to your phone when trying to boot to fastboot?
completely power off phone, then hold vol-down and plug in USB cable... this should boot you into fastboot, try and flash TWRP from there, although, if you dont have the required files on your device (or any way to get them onto it) you are not in a good situation.
something similar happened to me the other day, and this got me into fastboot where i could flash a system.img (or use HWOTA or whatever it is), though i had TWRP installed, but no OS.

Yeah, did that now and it worked. Although my previous attempts doing this nothing happened. But i am in the fastboot now atleast, bad news is that my device doesnt come up when using the apb devices command.
Any tips on what to do now? i suppose my device isnt showing because i cant use debug mode?

There's a lot of options on this forum if you have fastboot access and TWRP. So you should be able to get back to where you were before tinkering.
I recommend an external SD card reader to get necessary files on a SD card.

You should be able to flash it in fastboot though. If your fastboot is locked and frp is locked, you have a problem.
Not sure if recovery in Hisuite might be an option.

do you think it's possible doing this using the eRecovery Forced update?

So another problem, cant move bigger files than 4gb to the SD card. And cant format in NTFS because it seems like the phone wont take it.
but using a tempfile from a failed transfer the install at least starts, and ofcourse fails after a while since its incomplete. But how can i transfer the UPDATE.APP file to the card?

Formatting with DLOAD method

Well, i want to exit of the list of safetynet, i tried magisk safetynet fix, nothing works, this happened after a HOTA Downgrade to Nougat because Oreo (EMUI B330) made me lose too much performance of my Mate 10 Lite (RNE-L03C178) and the APi interpreted the downgrade how a dangerous modification of the system for the apps or in other words a cheating action, i want to exit of the list of the api, i listened with a complete format of a device the safetynet will provide the apps (With SafetyNet block) back in Play Store.
Well i want to format my device with the DLOAD method or other method, could someone explain to me how to do it? (the process of the dload)
Sorry for the grand explanation and my too very bad english, my language is spanish...

In theory, you should download the stock rom from here: http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/
Then, unzip the file and copy UPDATE.APP on your SD card. It has to be in a folder named dload on the root of the card.
Afterwards, reboot on download mode (turn off your phone, then, press volume up + volume down + power button until Huawei logo appears). This should trigger the process to install the app UPDATE.APP file.
If you have TWRP recovery, you will need to go back to your stock recovery (on that... please search on this forum).
I hope this helps!

Because Firmware Finder gives me 3 zip files and i not understand wich of 3 decompress the update.app
Sorry for my english...again...

I listened about to do this with the 3 update.app files
1.-update.zip
2.-update_data_full_public.zip
3.-update_full_RNE-L03_xxxxx_la.zip
Extract their update.app and install in order
Is this correct?

(Huawei MATE 10 ALP-L09) Hello, I tell you my situation, I am in the emui 8 version with cust 432 in the 150 sp1 version (xloader 1).
I want to try emui 9 so I'm going to switch to xloader 2.
I have the bootloader open and I'll leave it like this to update manually.
I'm going to use the HWOTA system, but when downloading the files of the latest version of emui 9 (version 159) I realize that 3 * .zip files are no longer the same as before, now only 2 files form it. The steps are the same? I put those two files in the Repack folder and then I go to the Ota folder and run the ota.bat ??
And another thing, should we rename those two files as was done before?
Thank you. A greeting.

Okay, but if You now running A8 , You can downgrade to A7 using HiSuite (Update > Other version) , or, if You have TWRP on board, You can downgrade flashing A7 firmware via HuRupdater 0.4 . It's strongly not recommended downgrade via dload method, it may brick Your phone.

Use Huawei Firmware Extractor (get it from XDA) to open the UPDATE.APP file and extract the system.img and recovery_ramdis.img
Boot your device in fastboot and flash the two images with the following commands :
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
fastboot flash system system.img
Reboot to recovery and do a factory reset. Done!

ANE-LX1 - Change Vendor/Country Code

Hi folks, I've had a Huawei P20 Lite lying around here for a while. It is a demo device.
I was able to successfully unlock the bootloader with using the Testpoint method.
Now I need help to change the country code from "demo" to "eu" and I also need the right firmware. Is there a free way to change the country code?
I hope you can help me with that ? Thanks in advance.

Hi, look here
If you are running EMUI 9.1, flash C432 oeminfo and use variant with HuRupdater https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...0-0-046-070f-emui-8-0-0.4324543/post-85538623

Thanks in advance. Somehow I can no longer get into the / system or the smartphone can no longer boot. When running HuRupdater I also get an error message that / System cannot be mounted. It only boots TWRP
I was able to import the oeminfo beforehand. There weren't any problems.

Can you write down exactly what you did?
What is your version of EMUI?
In fastboot mode run commands:
fastboot oem get-build-number
fastboot getvar vendorcountry
fastboot oem oeminforead-CUSTOM_VERSION
fastboot oem oeminforead-SYSTEM_VERSION
and post the results.
I guess I've stupidly used the wrong command line a number of times to get twrp to run.
fastboot flash system, boot or recovery twrp....
At least it worked with the country ID change ... if only a small consolation for the first
fastboot oem get-build-number

fastboot getvar vendorcountry
vendorcountry: hw/eu
fastboot oem oeminforead-CUSTOM_VERSION

your firmware is incomplete, it must be 8.0.0.143, if I'm not mistaken. Try again Huru method & factory reset in Stock recovery (not in TWRP!).
Or, download Service ROM Link , unpack , there's dload folder in "Software" . Copy dload folder (without unpacking it) to the OTG flash, turn off the phone and press and hold both volume buttons + Power ( this method will lock the BL again).
Thanks for the files. But i get an

Probably due to incomplete firmware .112 , ( it was stupidity on my part to suggest Service ROM in this case, sorry. Maybe I was too sleepy...).

Okay, idon't think that's relevant anymore anyway
I found the problem. It was the TWRP version. I took the latest one (twrp-3.5.2_9-0-anne.img) and it couldn't mount the /system partition. Now I took a version from this forum (twrp-3.2.1-0.img), which seems to be specially adapted for the Huawei devices. Unfortunately, it doesn't support OTG, but that wasn't a problem because I moved the files it to the internal memory.
Only with this twrp version could HuRUpdater.zip be executed correctly and all other files just like that. Here, too, I was first asked to press the vol-down button.
After the smartphone finally boots properly, I flash the firmware via dload to lock the bootloader again and do over the Recovery Wipe data / factory reset + cach partition.
Now I'm on version 8.0.0.046(0CXB). Unfortunately the device cannot find a new firmware version and nothing can be updated via HiSuit.
Can you tell me which step I have to take now to get the latest Android version for the device?
Thank you very much so far for your help

Unfortunately, you have incomplete FW there again, I think you're doing something wrong. And until the correct FW is there, you won't be able to receive OTA update or update via dload.
If you have followed instructions to the letter , it must work.
Use this TWRP . ( I don't know why you used TWRP 3.5.2.9, in the guide there is a link to 3.2.1-pretoriano80.). 3.5.2.9 isn't fully compatible with our device.
Try this way out:
- Flash TWRP
- Wipe - format data
- Reboot back to TWRP
- Wipe - Advanced wipe - wipe Dalvik/ART, cache, data, system
- Go back and flash HuRu
Note: the installation of the first file (write radio image...) must take longer, 2-3 minutes, this is proof that the installation is proceeding properly.
Btw, have you tried update via eRecovery & Wi-Fi?
Did it exactly like that. And then the 9.1.0.370 (C432) from the same thread loaded (dload / ANE-L01_hw_eu).
Now i have the firmware: ANE-LGRP2-OVS 9.1.0.370 in the device information.
Unfortunately, there is no further update, but I also don't know whether the current one is already the most recent?
What I also notice is that Dual-Sim settings are available in the menus. The IMEI2 is only provided with 000000000000000. I know that my device "only" supports single SIM.
Can I fix that too? Then everything should be fine as far as possible

Oh, it's all clear now
Because this oeminfo is for dual SIM. Oeminfo for single SIM can be found for example here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/c432-single-sim-oeminfo.3873312/
Also update_all_hw.zip file is for ANE-L21, you need ANE-L01, unfortunately, I don't have files for single SIM.

Maybe...You have to downgrade to Oreo via HuRupdater using downloaded files, then install TWRP over eRecovery and install stock Recovery.
Download https://androidhost.ru/2zMw and create dload folder .
In TWRP install new oeminfo.img , then go back to the main TWRP's menu, select Reboot > Power off. Use three buttons kombo to flash service ROM.
To be honest, I've never tried a variation like this, so I'm not responsible for this procedure, but it should work. The question is, is it worth it ...

Which step is missing now exactly? I followed the steps from you. I also used the files from the other thread that you linked. The single-sim / dual-sim problem is not important either. The main thing is that it works that way too

Are you sure? In my opinion, this is your main problem...
Hello, it's been a while. I sat down again and went through everything. The dual SIM files fold onto a single SIM smartphone. I was finally able to install the update via eRecovery after flashing via TWRP. Then two updates were pulled or installed via Android OS. Now I'm on 9.1.0.132 (C432E5R1P7).
