Using Douyin in the US in English - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good morning everyone!
I have downloaded Douyin (Chinese version of TikTok) and want to use it here in the US, however, it does not let me change the language to English. I want to find a way to give me this option. I am using the most recent version and everything. I have tested a few things with my Chinese friends that are in China and found the following:
- Using my app in the US, logging into their Chinese made accounts, the lose the language selection option in the settings. While using the app in China, they are provided the ability to choose the language they would like.
- My account in the US does not give me this option at all.
- Using a VPN on Android, selecting Hong Kong does not change the setting either.
If you wanted to test and try it for yourself, here is the website to download the app: https://www.douyin.com/
Any other ideas on what I might try to trick the app into allowing me to use that feature? I am using a stock Samsun Galaxy S9+ on the latest AT&T version of the OS. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I was really hoping to get some help here. Or maybe some direction if anyone else has any ideas?

No MarketPlace Icon

Hi All,
Currently working in China so bought this for the misses and the first problem is
1) the stock browser does not seem to recognise flash 10.3 so I most of the websites she uses are useless.
2)No market place icon to download Dolphin Hd etc
3)No Gmail Icon or Samsung Account/ Gmail Account options when try to setup the accounts
4)Tried to create an account in Gmail for her using laptop but when try to download an app from interent it says no devices associated with the account and you need to access the MarketPlace using the device first.
5)haha, downloaded the marketplace.apk and installed it on the app, however just says i need to setup an account before I can use it, 8-( however the Samsung Account is setup and using the Gmail Email Address (all be it not an actual gmail.com address)
Please anybody, can you help before this thing goes through the window, the shop has refused to allow me to return it so after pointless argusing in English to somebody who does not understand and my misses also trying in chinese we are left with it, any ideas how to resolve the above?
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease.....
I'm also getting messages when using the internet saying something about WebIM and Windows Media Player needed to be installed, when click ok, nothing happens ?
Doh !
Resolved the Flash issue with the stock browser, very simple answer, was just in the settings to always allow plugins...
But still need to resolve the Market Place issue and the Windows Media Player Plugin for the browser, anybody any ideas please ?
Nobody got any help ?
入手这个以后说实话我很纠结。。。
什么是真理? . . . .
I am also in the (Chinese) market for a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Wifi), since it is way cheaper in China than back home in Germany, plus it is actually being sold here
I've bought an Android device in China before and it also lacked the Google apps as well as Facebook etc. And the Market app, most importantly. On that device I just downloaded another, non-Chinese firmware, installed it and it worked like charm.
Is that also possible with the Tab? Because I would like to get rid of the castrated Chinese firmware. If yes, which firmware should I use - and how high is the risk of bricking the device?
Thanks in advance
Mucho
I had thought of putting the Europe Firmware on it, but as its for my wife I aso need it to have Chinese Character Support, My Galaxy S2 mobile has the XX firmware on it, but I cannot switch this into Chinese Language so was worried the Galaxy Tab would be the same....
So that means no Chinese input or no character display at all? Because for the input you just install another IME and it should be good to go...
Anyone else any ideas about the possibility of slapping a European firmware on it?

Eu/En change language/keyboard to Australia HELP!

hi guys,
i need some help.
i've had to flash uk rom/fastboot onto my phone.
however in language/keyboard it does not have australia.
i need this as some of my apps run off these settings eg. hey tell app inputs country code based on language/keyboard set and there is no way around it even if i manually put in country code it still adds on the default language/keyboard country code.
is there any way of adding english australia on?
what's worse is i've tried flashing stock rom, doing asia recovery. that all works well and i can get english australia as an option but i can't do OTA update. i get an error.. a status 7 error. (i've posted this in another thread in development section).
any help would be great please!
=(
Download morelocale2 from the market and set the region to EN.AU. It's a bit of a lifesaver at times.

thanks. ill have a look at that.
so it changes my default language/keyboard to Aus in the settings?
just confirming as that's what i need.
thanks. =)
If it's possible, then yes, it'll do it. Morelocale is utility to set, well, the system locale to any country you like, which - as you've experienced - is useful when your phone or firmware doesn't explicitly include yours.
In my case, I use it because the UK locale naturally sets the default currency symbol to the pound, and I need the dollar sign. Setting the locale to EN NZ effectively gives me the UK language settings I need with the currency symbol I need, so I'd wager it'll do the same for you.
It's free and doesn't need root access, so you can't go too far wrong.

Install other country stock firmware?

In a few months time I'll be working in Taiwan for a year. I want to learn and type Chinese. My baseband is i9300xxlh1 and this is bought unlocked in UK. I had a look at my phone at the moment and it doesn't have Chinese inputs.
If I use Odin to flash the firmware to the Chinese one, would it actually break my phone? Or is there any way that would allow me to enable or install the Chinese language input? I tread through the forums and it sounds like I might be able to enable it just by rooting the phone and editing the language settings without flashing it.
Many thanks!
Just look at the Play Store for a free keyboard solution with chin support
It´s the easiest way i think
Yes, the firmwares are fully interchangeable between i9300/i9300t phones regardless of country and origin.
However as said installing a input method might be the far easiest way.
Alternatively you can ask if anybody could share the samsung-official keyboard apk for that location so you can install it.

I tried installing other input methods from play store but they are terrible. It allows you to type Chinese but the english word suggestion is a nightmare to use and you can't switch to the default samsung keyboard easily so I wanted to try the official keyboard apk. I'll google around and see if I can find the official language pack

If it's not under the normal language settings, I'd contact your phone operator/the place where you bought it. Given that it's Spanish you shouldn't be the only one with this problem.
EDIT: actually, I just googled a bit and apparently the really ship it without Spanish? If that really is the case and you absolutely need the phone in Spanish you might need to root it and use another rom (phone-software). Check the S3 forums on xda, ask around there what other people did to solve the issue.
Thanks
Thanks. Yeah. It sucks that most Samsung phones in Canada only have 3/4 language choices.
Inglish, French and Korean. Question......if i change the room, can i use stock rooms from other carriers that are similar models as my phone?

Hi All,
My Honor 7 model number is PLK-AL10. And it is from China. There's a lot of annoying chinese program that I can't use.
I'd like to change the regio settings... and/or to an European ROM. (if it's possible)
Could anybody help me?
Thanks

Well you can remove apps and change region after rooting your phone. But otherwise, nearly all of them can be uninstalled. Any others you don't want you could move to the hide app section.
Its the Hivoice app which has no english voice support which cannot be deleted.
The Huawei app center is useful to keep Huawei apps updated, so i don't delete that.
Then the music and video app shows online Chinese content, but it might not be a problem since in international version they have no online content at all.
Hicare app is useful to send feedbacks and requests.
The theme app if you turn off phone remove sim card, and restart phone, the theme app will shows more themes that are available in China.
I have access to Huawei cloud so i use that as well, and pretty useful as the gallery and files manager is connected to the cloud.
Hi,
I have PLK-TH01H, is it also from China?
I noticed these versions:
ATH-AL00
PLK-TL00
PLK-CL00
PLK-AL10
PLK-TH01H
PLK-UL00
I would also like to remove chinese software but it sounds not so easy. We probably need to wait for a custom rom.
