256gb pro for £329, anything I need to be aware of? - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Guides, News, & D

Honestly the price seems too good to be true... So what's the catch?
I know a few people here have said they got there global phone fine from eglobal, but I do remember them as a dodgy shop back in the day...
So is this legit? Is it safe? Is it a real international phone with no strange hacking of the k20.....?
Should I buy here?

I once ordered a Canon 6D that did not arrive in time. They send a new one because the previous package disappeared. Communication with the hel(l)pdesk was a pain in the ass. The camera itself was a grey market one.

Are you referring to K20 pro? If so and since you are quoting the price in GBP - you should be aware that some mobile service 4G bands are not supported in the UK by this device - check if that is the case with your provider.
Else the price seems reasonable to me. Changing the ROM shouldn't be a problem.
9T pro have better band coverage + it will come with Global Rom.
I personally have K20 pro - still on china rom and I intend to keep it like that - quite happy after the MiUi 11 update, doesn't bother me at all that is China Rom. The countries that I use it at - have the 4G bands supported by the device.

This one... They say its the mi 9t pro global/international... mentions B20 in the band list, They say its not a k20 rebadged/flashed phone...

The phone itself is most likely legit. The reason why eglobal's prices are lower than usual is because they don't pay import taxes for their products. An issue that might arise from purchasing it is that it may get stuck in customs because it would be a grey import and with no one to pay the import taxes. Usually however, it will pass customs without and charges as they usually declare the package value lower than the actual value to avoid being taxed, which I believe the threshold is around £15.

Main problem with that store is you only have a 50/50 chance of getting anything at all, it may say in stock but frequently isn't. It took a week to get them to admit this and cancel the order.

buying it in ebay from south korea

Hey all ,
I want to buy this watch and I noticed many sells on eBay from south korea.
watch has a very good price and according to the list it should work fine in my country as far as bands.
also asked the seller if I'll get FOTA updates and he said that yeah.
so my question is , can anyone think on other reasons why I shouldn't buy it from there?
sell for example : http://www.ebay.com/itm/321576361962
Thanks for your help
On the side of pessimistic, I'm always very careful about ordering anything from overseas. Mainly cuz what if something goes wrong???
Once i ordered a fairly expensive HD IP Cam from Asia, and when it arrived it was clearly a fake. The worse case I know of, is a co-worker that ordered an Galaxy
S5 from Korea at a great price.
After a few weeks, weird things began happening.
By utilizing a few sites that specialize in spotting fakes, he would've never been able to tell that he got taken and bought a cheap clone. And the kicker of this story, the fine print in the con's listing forced ebay to rule in his favor.
So overall, try to order products from US vendors and be sure to read the description in its entirety.
Sorta like the guy that bought a picture of a gold iPhone for big $$$, cuz he didn't read (or maybe doesn't know how).
Good luck!!!

I think that for hige-end devices such as this it would be very easy to spot a fake product , for example , curved screen is not something that every manufacturer can make.
and as you said , ebay buyer protection plan can always save you.
in addition there's the whole feedback system that if you know how to work with you can figure within 2-5 minutes of investigation if the seller is reliable or not.
my main concerns are about the version of the watch , will all apps work on it etc.

Don't be so sure on the looks alone. Take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/general/gear-s-150-t3001480
First off. This model won't work in the US.
There are a lot of different versions of the GS... Each for a different segment of the world. I would do some 2G/3G/4G frequency research on the model you're buying and the provider you'll be using it with. Also, make sure it's factory unlocked... Trying to get it unlocked from another country would near impossible.

yeah , $150 for a brand new watch is of course a ripoff.
you're right , the south korean watch won't work in north america , but as you can see I'm not from US
I guess I will cancel this order though , since I found other seller from Europe who also promise to cover any customs duties if it gets stopped.

Anyone using European G5 (H850) on T-Mobile US? Really supports TMO Band 12?

So I am ready to get a new phone to replace my 3+ year old Galaxy S4.
Replaceable batteries and expandable storage are must have features for me there aren't a lot of options out there.
Being rootable is also a must have feature and an unlocked/unlockable bootloader is a very strong preference.
I'm currently on Cricket (which is owned by AT&T and uses the AT&T network), the coverage and pricing are good but I may want to switch to T-Mobile in the next couple years. If I'm going to go T-Mobile that means I need a phone that supports T-Mobile Band 12 (I've used T-Mobile before without Band 12 and would not ever consider that again due to abysmal coverage).
I have searched both on XDA and on Google and I've found conflicting information about whether I could use the European H850 and have it work with T-Mobile Band 12, specifically I've seen several places where it's listed that the H850 supports LTE Band 12 but I don't trust T-Mobile to find some way to block their implementation of Band 12 for non TMO devices.
Does anyone here know for sure that I can use the European model LG G5 (H850) on T-Mobile and use T-Mobile Band 12?
Thanks in advance.
I have H850 on metro pcs, which uses T-Mobile network.
I forget which LTE band they use, but my LTE is faster than my WiFi...and yes it does have band 12 available as shown on the box my phone came in.
The H850 supports every band T-Mobile h830 supports plus like ten more.
I've had no dropped calls or any other problems in regards to my service.
Also T-Mobile doesn't care enough to block non T-Mobile customers from using every band they are paying for...
I use metro so I don't have access to the full T-Mobile network, just as cricket doesn't access full AT&T network...but my internet is beyond fast

What do you mean you don't have access to the full network? You're just prioritized lower than T-Mobile users, meaning you'll get throttled if the network is under heavy load, nothing else.
OK guys follow up question I'm ready to get an H850 where is the best place to buy one? Want an EU model that's bootloader unlockable and needs to come SIM unlocked obviously.

Definitely. There are others on here who pointed me in their direction. They are well established with tons of great reviews. I almost got scammed on with a bait and switch on eBay then somebody told me to go with Clove. They are legit. Use PayPal and enjoy your phone. My device from them had had no build quality issues and I've been nothing but pleased with my purchase
Clove have been around for a long time and are a respected retailer. Though they aren't the cheapest though.
I just bought one sim free from EE on the high street for £399 including taxes. I had to buy a payg sim for £10 though.
On my box it says B12 so no reason why it wont work.

Following up on this, I did end up buying from Clove, ordered on 6/16. it shipped on 6/20 but did not arrive until 7/9.
Bigger problem than the long shipping time was that there was very poor information on the status of my delivery. When they shipped (dispatched) they sent me a Royal Mail tracking number but whenever I checked it the only thing the Royal Mail web site said was that shipment was "on it's way" with no detail or progress let alone an estimated delivery day. What's worse was that about a week into the shipping time the Royal Mail site stopped providing any status at all, saying that they had no reference of my shipment. After a few days of this I was getting really worried that my phone was lost in the mail but eventually the tracking number started returning a result in the USPS system.
It took 2 weeks for the phone to get from the U.K. to the U.S. and another 5 days to get the last 25 miles to my house.

thats odd as clove are a good fast shipper. usually shipments into the USA are held up by lengthy customs clearance on the US end. most USA mobiles unfortunately are a waste of time as they are pre loaded with crazy carrier bloat and the network restrictions are absurd. steer clear of the h830 etc like the plague.
sorry you had to wait

Advice on buying Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro SD650 3GB/32GB

Hi
I need to get a new phone asap after my Lenovo P780 bricked itself. I tried flashing it but it doesn't even turn on now and I haven't had new replies to my posts. Maybe I messed up as I'm a complete new to this.
Anyway this is the one I want to buy at geekbuying.
http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-Pro-5-5-Inch-FHD-3GB-32GB-Smartphone-371732.html
My questions are
1. What payment method should I use that will give me the best protection against a missing or non-working phone? Credit card, Paypal or other? I bought the P780 on UK ebay.
For people in the UK, would I get protection under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act? I know it doesn't apply to ebay or aliexpress because the seller isn't paid directly but how about geekbuying?
2. This is the the international Kate version which gets OTA updates. Goldway on aliexpress has the Kenzo version with global rom and OTA updates. If I don't use 4G, should I get the Kenzo or Kate version? I'm thinking Kenzo as existing cases and screen protectors will fit it and it has more roms available (if I dare to try that again).
Thanks
JB

Use PayPal for everything is my advice. Though I am not in the UK it's highly unlikely you'll be protected under anything given the phone is coming from China with a limited reseller warranty. Though Geekbuying are pretty good. PayPal is your best protection because no vendor wants to mess up their standing with them.
Depending on your carrier the only advantage to Kate is Band 20 for 4G. My UK Tmobile and 3UK 3G are plenty fast anyway and the RN3P covers their 4G bands too.

So I'm looking at the Kenzo at aliexpress but it doesn't list Paypal as a payment method? What's the best method to use or should I find another site that takes Paypal?
Where are you based?
If you are based in UK then use ebay. The price difference on ebay and aliexpress should be minimal. But ebay gives you extended protection and will refund you if you dont receive the phone or if its faulty.
Having said that, if you buy from any other site by using paypal then you are also protected under paypal's own protection. I dont know its details but you can look it up.
Section 75 of the consumer act is completely different and it wont help you in your case.
You mentioned Geekbuying and they're reliable so go with them. PayPal and ebay are essentially the same company so you're protected by both.

Ok, will go with geekbuying and Paypal. I messaged them if the included case and screen protector fits the Kate model, they said yes and if it turns out they don't, I can always buy them later.
Had a look on ebay but not as cheap as the Chinese websites.
Thanks for the replies
Edit: I bought the Kate model for $188 with Paypal. I nearly paid in pounds which would've had a 3.7% conversion fee but used my fee free credit card. Didn't go with courier delivery, hopefully less chance of customs tax but also to see if I can survive with just my feature phone and laptop for 3-6 weeks!
Paypal is good because they can freeze their account with too many disputes and usually paypal will side with the buyer, though they will make you send the item back which can be costly since you need to use a fully tracked service tobshow delivered.
Aliexpress uses Escrow so the seller won't get paid until you comfirm you recivied or the timer runs out, when ordering from ali look for a seller with good feedback, and a good return policy like 'seller pays for return shipping', ali will almost always favor the seller in disputes, so keep proof and pictures of everything including unboxing, video too - worst case you can go through your cc

Where did you buy the 9t from? And how was your shopping experience?

I put in an order for thr 9t with MiGlobalStore on Aliexpress.
And 4 days later, its not shipped and seller doesnt even read any of my messages LOL
Like, wow, is this normal? By normal, i meant, is this the standard on Aliexpress?
Should i have bought it from Gearbest?
I have purchased my Mi 9T 128GB, blue from Gearbest for 310€. The device has been already shipped. Have to wait 10-15 days for arrival. Will report then.
Sent from my unknown using XDA-Developers Legacy app
So its been 6 days, there is no reply from Mi Global Store on Aliexpress (and its still not shipped). Evem after i habe requested to cancel the order and asked Aliexpress customer representative to inform the seller, nothing. LOL
I dont know whats going on and how this store can manage to be alive for this long. But so far the shopping exoereience has been the worst.
Patience, it will arrive don't worry. As i recall correctly when they give you the DHL (or whatever else - if you chose the DHL shipment) tracking number it only goes live once the package leaves china and starts either from the UK (EU orders) or what ever else warehouse in north America.
I'm now torn between either MI global store - Goldway or Xiaomi Mi store. Don't know if there is any difference at all, but all I know is that if you using those Grey market resellers, you can forget any kind of warranty - RMA cases whatsoever.

I woulf actually try GearBest, if they cancel my order as i requested.
I bought mine on Rakuten site, (Europe, France), from order to arrive in my hands i had wait 6days. 354eur i paid for 128GB, now we can find even for 310eur 128GB
The only thing that's bothering me on rakuten is, that i cannot see anywhere who the seller is. Either it is not writen anywhere or im blind....
Like this for example :
https://fr.shopping.rakuten.com/off...9t-6go-128go-dual-sim-redmi-k20-debloque.html
I see, its a reseller from another site. eglobalcenter
you can see very well that seller is central-FR but it is from china. If you go here https://fr.shopping.rakuten.com/mfp/5849175/xiaomi-mi-9t?pid=3974212410 and scroll down you will find mishopFR 314,38eur
then GTMobe 314,39eur then Kirin 319,99eur,... all this are from europe. all they sell under rakuten site
never_msrp on eBay. Very fast shipping, no problems.
Around $400 for the 128Gb, I didn't realize there was sales tax.
Just for the input and in case anyone in Mexico is reading, I bought it from Doto (a local reseller), they offer warranty over 1 year so that's nice, and it cost me about 45 extra dollars, bit I think it's worth it, they ship it the next 2 days.

Bought my Mi 9T on trading shenzhen for 380€ and I got my unit after like 2-3 days.
I got mine from there also, it arrived in 3 days.

yes you can order from aliexpress, but if from rakuten, and seller from europe, you will not pay extra money for customs or taxes, and very often you can find cupons on rakuten , for example when i order it was 30eur offer for over 300eur shopping.
and if you buy on rakuten you will get points ( if you register as member ), i got 1700points what is 17eur, and after you can buy some other things in value of 17eur on rakuten ( for free, you pay with that points ).
just writing this , not to push you to buy.
Update on MiGlobalStore purchase:
So apparently many peoplr have commented on the store news pages, and they are complaining about how they purchased phones and the seller never respond to message nor ship thier phones. This started near end of June, till now.
Dont know what happened to this store but I am cancelling the order.
According to Aliexpress customer service, only the seller can accept the cancellation, which means if the seller does not respond, my money will be held by aliexpress for 40 days. That is just great. And thats probably what will end up happening, since the MiGlobalStore doesnt seem to care about no sh*t at all LOL
I didnt want to wait so i put in an order drom gearbest, and they shipped it (DHL shipping number provided, at least) right away. Will see how that goes.
For now, my gut feeling is: stay the hell away from MiGlobalStore, no matter if you get what you bought in the end, the overall experience is not gonna be smooth for ya.
You mind posting a link of the store pages?
I'm actually rather interested in the story. But I guarantee you that whatever you order will arrive at your doorstep, some people were waiting for a month. But something like that can be delayed in some many different ways. There is just no possible way that they gonna sell 1k phones and not ship them, that's something even AliX would not let happen.
I suppose they just have a bunch of workers shipping what ever crap they need to all day and all night. And have a "dedicated" chat team just on paper to please the minimum requirements to open a online shop on Alix.
But yeah, all in all who doesn't like that should definitely look elsewhere.

Mi Global Store

Go to the "Feed" tab and open the comments under their (many) posts.
I mean, the price i paid on gearbest is 10 dollars less than this store for the same product, so, with this kinda customer service, to me it is very obvious which to choose lol

Where did you buy your 8GB / 256GB with Band 20 in the UK?

I am trying to get a hold of the 8gb / 256gb version of the K20 Pro with band 20 within the UK but it has been a complete nightmare.
I tried from Aliexpress which lost the phone and egobalexpress which has been 'processing' for almost two weeks now.
Did people just acquire their phones from these stores or are there more reliable sellers available?
I know this version of he phone is imported from china but are there any stores where they have stock readily available so you wont have to wait for weeks to months after which you still may not receive your order?
The reliable sellers don't have any in stock, same as the aliexpress and eglobal types, but the difference is they won't let you place an order.
Your eglobal order will get cancelled as soon as you challenge them on despatch.

Would you mind letting me know which ones are legit so I can track the stock for when they do get some?
Gearbest seems to be working for me so far, but I can't give you any assurances.
I bought mine from eGlobalCentral UK.
Paid with paypal as safety precaution.
It took almost 20 days for me.
My country has an authorized official Xiaomi store and lots of retail stores under them. I can also get it from local online shops.

how long did it say processing for with your order?
Dont forget officially this is not released in the UK only the 6/128 version. I seen some selling it on eBay. They claim to be UK stock but I wont hold my breath. I don't think you would get better performance with an 8gb version, and I think its not worth it unless you would need the 256 storage. I personally went for the 6\128 version purely because the price difference, and because the EU variant would have support in the UK. No sure about the global version support though. GL any way .
I got mine from wondamobile, can't remember how long it took but it was about a week.
It was a 8/256 Hong Kong global with UK style plug.
Given the choice I'd probably just go with the 128 option, copying large amounts of data over after a ROM flash on USB 2 connection speeds takes forever ?
