Problem with 4K/UHD video playing on Sony Xperia Z tablet - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I have a problem playing 4K video on a tablet Sony Xperia Z (Android 5.1.1). After opening a mp4 (UHD) file made with my Sony Xperia Z5 compact phone, the picture "freezes" and only the sound from the clip continues. After opening a MOV (4K) file made with a iPhone 6s Plus, a message "Unable to play video" appears.
Where is the problem? Is it possible that the problem comes from the number of frames per second? These files are made with 60 fps.
Thank You very much!

Yes! The problem was the frame rate. At a speed of 30 fps everything is OK!

This tablet from 2013 year is not meant to be used with 4K content. It doesn't have 4K display or 4K support in SOC.

Thank You very much, Rootk1t! Obviously i'll have to convert the files to a lower resolution.
Happy Holydays!

Xperia U, HD Videos fail?

Anyone else find the Xperia U is total junk for playing HD? Using MX Player or is there a better app that works?
My 18 month old HP Touchpad just shrugs off 1080P videos no problem, my Xperia U can't even manage 720P without been a stuttery mess, surely it should be able to handle them no problem?
720p runs superfine for me
1080p doesn't even starts
Mali400mp4 can play 1080p wid ease bt not mp1
Odp: Xperia U, HD Videos fail?
720p in .mp4 always smooth, 720p .mkv with medium bitrate (for example 1,5h movie in 1Gb file) smooth, 720p .mkv with high bitrate (1 hour show at 1,5 Gb file) a little bit laggy.

[Q] Hi10P playback

Hi I am looking for a new tablet for video viewing and I am thinking about Z2. Ive got a z1 compact smartphone and its great, I wouldnt mind owing a sony tablet too.
Now my question is Z2 tablet capable of playing 1080p HI10P videos (mainly anime) ? my z1c can play 720p hi10p vids in software playback mode, which is ok.
Can anyone confirm this that it plays them or doesnt. Thanks

Just tested on mine. It doesn't play using the inbuilt Sony movie player. I can get it working using third party players (I tried VLC and MXPlayer), but only using the software decoder.

Thanks. Did you experience any problems (stuttering, lag, seeking not working, etc)?

[VIDEO] Screen Record Sample + Gameplay

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact comes with a cool built-in screen recording feature. Below you can find a sample video recorded using the device:

Hi, is there a way to save the Recorded files to the SDCard instead?
If it all saves to my internal storage, it gets full really fast. I use the feature really often and dont want to copy the videos of my phone every 30 minutes.

[Q] Can anyone else watch theri 4k videos on TV?

I just bought an LG 4K TV this weekend (49UB8500).
It doesn't seem to recognize the 4k Videos I shot with my Xperia Z2.
I'm not sure...haven't done extensive research yet, but LG 4K TV seem to require HEVC codec for 4K video but somehow the 4K videos Z2 shot are using H264 codec instead....
I cannot find a free encoder to convert these files either to test out this theory.
Does nobody else have this problem?

my devices :
- XPERIA Z2 bootloader unlocked + existenz ROM + ABRICOT KERNEL
- TACLAST X98 AIR 3G DUAL OS
Try handbrake. Link: https://handbrake.fr/
I tried handbrake but it doesnt recognize the video... only converts audio...
will try the other suggestion and report back.
thanks!
Tried both options.....neither seem to convert the 4k videos.
No one else have this problem?
Update: It seems that 32bit PCs are now pretty much obsolete... Cannot re-encode 4k videos. On the other hand, seems my LG TV can read 4k H264 videos from the Z2 (just not via DLNA). Turns out 4K video quality as captured from Z2 is not much better than 1080p from my point of view...

Had a question regarding 4K resolution on streaming/video apps

I have just recently migrated from iOS (iPhone 11 Pro) to Android 10 (Sony Xperia 5 II). I think Android is a much better choice for me as I feel I have more control.
Despite this I am having a minor issue which I need help with. On my iPhone 11 Pro, I was able to watch 4K videos, even with HDR turned on through the Youtube app. The resolution of the iPhone 11 Pro is closer to 1080p than anything else so I understand 4K is downscaled to the resolution of the phone. The problem I have is that with my new Sony Xperia 5 II I cannot seem to be able to enable 3840x2160/4K on any video on Youtube. I have tried watching a 4K video with HDR and without HDR but still suffer the same problem. I am new to android so I don't really know if this is common or its just my phone. The resolution of the Sony phone is also 1080p but I find it quite surprising it won't let me watch videos at 4K considering the iPhone 11 could.
I have tried updating the Youtube app and the firmware of the phone but nothing seems to change. I cannot uninstall Youtube from the phone either.
Is there any way this can be fixed?
The 4K video playback on YouTube is supported on those Android devices only that have a 4K display screen. Your Sony Xperia 5 II doesn't have such one.
But there is a simple workaround you can use to enable 4K video quality option on YouTube , if your phone's Android is rooted: change the resolution of the display to enable 4K video support - you do this by modifying the build.prop[/] file in the /system root directory.
