Mail App - LG G8X ThinQ Questions & Answers

I've had the LG G4, G5, G6, V30 and now I'm onto the G8X. In Canada, Sasktel network.
All the other LG phones had a mail app provided by LG. I can't find it on my G8x. I've tried bluemail, k9, outlook and a bunch of others but those can't do html signatures, but I could with the LG mail app. I even tried manually installing the apk, the app launched but didn't work.
Did LG discontinue it or did my backup and restore from the v30 delete it somehow?
Can someone recommend a mail app that does html signatures?

Good morning,
I never used the LG mail but I can suggest you Spark also in the free edition.

Wow, thanks!
That's a great app and the signature works perfectly for my exchange email.
Unfortunately I have 2 IMAP accounts and it seems Spark doesn't support the mail server my ISP uses...
Any other suggestions?

I use Spark for personal e-mail and Nine for my Exchange work e-mail. Nine also supports HTML signatures.

LG has discontinued their email app, at least for Canadian users. Unlike the LG messaging app it's not even hidden on the device.

May I suggest Aquamail? I really love it and it has tons of options. Not sure about HTML signature though. But the best feature for LG G8X is how it works when you force it in wide view mode on both screen (via G8x widemode app)
The left is screen is accounts and folders and right screen is mail list.
Then when you click on a message:
The left screen becomes the mail list and the right screen is the selected message.
It ks just too awesome to use in dual screen.
Oh and it color codes your email per account. Best feature ever.
Disclaimer: I do not work for Aquamail and has nothing to di with them. I just passionately love this app.

I personally use and love Outlook. And it does support signatures. You can either do a generic for all accounts, or per account signature.

Yahoo mail problem

I enter my username and password under the yahoo email option in the mail app and it keeps saying I have no new messages but I know I do... Anyone else have this problem or have a manual fix?

Yahoo mail still exists???? Get Gmail if problem persists.
I had the same issue. Even when I switched to display 20 messages from any date, it would say no mail but also say x available on server. If I tapped that it would compose a new message. I haven't used the native mail app in a while so after that I said screw it and went back to K9.
yes
same problem and looking for fix, I'm going to try sending the yahoo text/yahoo mobile from my computer to my phone and see if that works
Had same problem. I skipped it, went to it later and it went through.

I am having same problem. My work uses yahoo mail to post overtime. I am losing cash so I hope they solve this quick. Yahoo is what company adopted for email so switching isn't an option.

You could always use the browser until you get it fixed. Probably something to do with the server ports. I'll dig around on the Hero boards and see if I can find the settings.

Seriously, K9 mail. It's free in the market. It is the best mail app I've seen. And when we finally get some sort of root, you can use titanium backup to backup your data and if you switch roms or whatever use that to restore your accounts and settings instantly.
It appears to be a known issue. I cannot get my Yahoo mail to open using the stock Email app either, I can send but I cannot receive. You can use the Yahoo Mail app, that works just fine and has a nice user interface, but me, personally I prefer using the regular Mail app for all three of my email addresses. My Yahoo address is only mainly for crap. If people think using Yahoo is archaic, I use ***gasp*** *OH NO’S*** my ISP email address which is where all my important stuff goes, banking stuff and so on, and the address I give out to close friends and family. Only reason I have a Gmail account is because you’re forced to in order to use an Android phone. Hopefully a fix for this problem is in the works.
I'm surprised anyone uses anything other than gmail with an android device for personal email.
Same problem here. Started happening just yesterday for me.
A Sprint rep told me that Yahoo blocked port 25 on their servers which is causing issues across all phone platforms. He also said that Yahoo wants to start charging people for Yahoo Plus in order for it to work, but I have found no confirmation of that. As a matter of fact, I found at least one Yahoo Plus user who is also having this problem using the native mail app from another HTC phone.
I have contacted Yahoo about the issue and will post their response here when I get it. However, it does seem to be a very widespread problem.
I will be waiting for an answer because I would rather use sense for emails then the app.
glad I wasn't the only one.
same problem here. I noticed I was not getting yahoo mails today. I use mine for business, and frankly don't ever want to use another email. Yahoo has been consistent, reliable for me for over 14 years.
I downloaded and installed the Enhanced Email app on the Amazon Appstore today.. special for today only for 4.99... seems like a good program..
I did not know about K9,, I could have saved the 4.99... but I think the Enhanced email app has a lot of features I haven't started using yet.
same issue with yahoo..
set up quickly.. but no emails coming in...
and yea been using Yahoo for years.. not going to switch because gmail is android friendly lol
i want a fix too, i use gmail, hotmail, and yahoo and want them all on my phone with stock software. depends on who i am giving my email to or sending to as to which account i use

I have the new HTC Evo 3D and Yahoo mail does not work with the
native HTC Mail app. Before this phone, I had the original HTC Evo and
Yahoo worked fine with the HTC app over the course of one year that I
had that phone. I upgraded to this phone last week, and for 5 days
Yahoo was working fine on the HTC mail app, but it stopped working
yesterday. Gmail and my work email still work through the HTC mail app
and my Yahoo mail is still working on my computer, so I believe the
problem is on Yahoo's end.
Please advise if this issue had already been reported and if it is being
worked on.

I use Gmail for personal use (friends/relatives) and Yahoo for commercial use ie. Amazon, Netflix, forum addresses, etc.. Keeps my Gmail absolutely spam free and when I get a Gmail I know it is really an email I want to see and have pushed to my 3VO.
I had the Yahoo set up problem too, just got my 3VO yesterday. Finally got it to work with the standard mail app. Turned out to be a security issue on my account, and after I changed my password to a more secure one, and after I signed on to the account from my 3VO browser, I was able to set it up using the manual mode (IMAP).
Remember to remove the "htc." from the incoming and outgoing server addresses though.

[Q] Email app that's good and has privacy?

I was using the stock Email app, but since I updated to Lollipop I always got the "Exchange Services has stopped unexpectely". I got tired of waiting for a update/fix and decided to use a 3rd part mail app.
I have read through and testet different mail apps and ended up with two candidates:
Nine
Type Mail / Bluemail
I love both - specially for the features to combine mails with tasks, so I can be reminded of mails later etc. Only difference for me is that Nine is a paid app and Typemail is free.
However I need your help on the privacy! It seems some mail clients store mails temporary on their server, scan your mails and sell information to advertisers and maybe other stuff? Does anyone has insights on this and preferable regarding these apps?

You could try K-9 Mail, an open source mail client. It is available on Play Store as well as on F-Droid.

Thank you for reply. I tried K9, but I really don't like the older looking inbox view and it doesn't have the extra features such as reminder for later read of emails.

I am also afraid of email apps that rely on third party mail servers for the very reasons you have stated above. Were you able to find an android app that "fetches" and isn't associated with scanning or selling private info? I have heard good things about TypeApp and BlueMail - but there seems to be a third party email server involved, which I would really like to avoid. Also, I would prefer not having a unified mailbox, as I have five separate emails that I am constantly checking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

[Q] Does V10 has Contact Groups?

Could anybody with the LG stock software please check for me, if the V10 can view, add & edit Google Groups in the Contacts app?
Since Google removed that feature with Lollipop, I was hoping that LG's UI keeps them nevertheless...
So far I'm still on my trusty G2 with Cloudy (KK), but probably will get the V10, just here in Cambodia I didn't see any V10 in the stores yet, to try it out myself. Groups are essential for me.
Thanks!
I have not had a problem with "Groups" in Contacts. My problem came in when I wanted to email to a specific group. My solution was to move all email/Gmail to AquaMail Pro.
Sent from an AT&T LG V10
What kind of problem did you have? I rely heavily on groups to manage my 2000+ contacts.
So there is a Groups tab in Contacts to manage Groups, or not? Like in the previous LG versions?
Under Contacts, top... all the way on the right, is Group.
I used to use Gmail to mail to my Groups. Then, after an update, that feature was gone. I tried over a dozen different mail programs, looking for something that would let me mail to groups. I finally found AquaMail Pro, and haven't regretted it.

Gmail Feature: Gmailify

Gmail Feature: Gmailify
There's a %100 chance that you already have and use Gmail on your Android phone. So I'm not going to exactly blow our mind when I tell you about this app. However there is a new feature that was announced recently that might have gone under the radar for some of you. "Gmailify" is the horribly named new feature that lets you use any Yahoo or Hotmail email address with the Gmail app and take advantage of all of your favorite Gmail features.
Now I can consolidate both my @Live and @gmail addresses in one app. The Gmail client has always been my favorite app to use for email. So I much prefer to use this than a third party client to consolidate my accounts.
To get stared just add a new account like you would normally and you'll see the option to add your @Live and @YAHOOO accounts. Check out this video that was uploaded to Google's YouTube channel.
Download Gmail
How many of you will take advantage of this feature?
Well, more years ago than I can remember I pretty much linked all of my emails to Gmail, so I've had this functionality across all platforms since then.
For as long as I can remember the android app has also let me choose which of these addresses to send from.
I'd recommend that approach tbh.
Can be done from the site. This app-feature lead me to it so that was useful. But I can read all the email accounts by anything accessing the gmail, Android and desktop applications.
Has anyone figured out how to Gmailify more than one account. I want to Gmailify both my hotmail account and my yahoo account. I can do either, but not both. Very silly limitation.

That's not gmailfying, thats just adding an account to the gmail app (which has been around for years). Gmailifying means gmail completely takes over, when you open gmail (from any device) you will have the mail from the gmailified account alongside your gmail. Adding an account the way you describe is just local on the app. What you need to do is "link" an account, not just add an account. To do this, after you add an account, go into the setting and chose link to gmail. However, if you already have 1 account linked it will tell you that you can't have another one linked. I hope this makes sense.

I have a terrible solution for your problem!
Just use 2 different users on your device, have 2 different sets of apps. With 2 different Gmailify apps, you can link both accounts separately. Will it work? Am I genius or a fool?

Which app for email?

Hello,
I wanted to know which email App you use. Because the original one I don't like it and Gmail on quick app is very awful :/
So if you can answer to this it would be great!
I use Gmail. Yeah Gookill is just evil.
Use a cloud based only app like Gmail.
That eliminates malware completely unless you chose to download it.
Gmail is excellent with spam and I have never gotten malware through it except if not mindful of downloaded files.
My Yahoo email got locally wifi hacked once, I don't trust it's encryption now.
Outlook is malware central
Yahoo mail, with Gmail and Yahoo account.
I have no notifications, but I check it anyway, several times a day.
Aquamail, the best.
Nine -> Just get it from Petal Search. If you paid for it on playstore you can add your subscription on the Huawei without issue, you just need to paste the order or something in the app.

Hi, I've been using Spark, I tried also BlueMail but didn't like it at all, what made me convince about Spark is that it syncs also your gmail folders, so everything keeps as if you were using gmail app, also your signatures, contacts an many more features that makes me forget about gmail native app.
It's available in app gallery, good luck!
Another cool app imo -> "Re:Work". https://rework.so/
I was using "Nine" previously so this is their new app and even had promotion for "Nine" users.
It's not available in the app gallery but it can be downloaded.
