wifi problem with android 9 and mi band 4 - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I'm having a problem with mi band 4 and whatever android rom 9 is because android 8.1 doesn't have that problem. When I connect my band to my cell phone and measure the wifi speed, I have 15mb speed, the speed is only 3mb and more than 100ms when I disconnect to band4 or connect another device, this problem is not how I saw the problem. it's on android 9 and mi band 4 how can i fix this and it's on android 9 because as i said android 8.1 doesn't give this problem.
sorry for the english.: o

That's a basic problem.
WiFi and Bluetooth sending on 2,4GhZ
You should use a 5GhZ network for WiFi for the best bandwith

ok more why does this happen on android 9 and it doesn't happen on android 8.1

I don't know, maybe a bug
If you become Android Q use this. There is full speed

This has already been discussed here there's also a workaround there.

Nexus 9 Wifi 5GHz

Just got my Nexus 9 today from Google Play store UK. Everything seems working ok, except:
I cannot find any wifi 5GHz. I am connecting to my home 5GHz (Virgin Media Superhub) from my HP Pavillion laptop, MBP, iPhone and iPad. But on Nexus 9, I am not able to scan any 5GHz network:
2.4Ghz works fine though:
I have enabled all possible channels in Settings (Wifi Analyzer):
In system Settings, I have tried both Automatic and 5GHz only:
I have performed OTA updated after first time switched on device and connected to 2.4GHz network at work, didn't notice whether there was an issue on 5GHz until I got home.
So, is there a problem with the latest OTA, or simple this unit needs to be RMA?

Mobile devices don't always support all the 5GHz channels that an access point might use. Try setting the Access point to use the lowest channel, say 36 and see if that works?

Hi Phil
Thanks for the hint. It looks like Nexus 9 only able to see channel 34 ~ 48. My broadband AP has selection of 36 ~ 136, and it was on "Auto Performance" and auto selected channel 100 tonight.
Thanks Phil!

Yeah.. Only 34-48 Weird why it doesn't support more than that.

Different countries have different requirements, but often most countries only allow certain frequencies to be used outside, and other frequencies for 5GHz may only be used inside buildings to prevent interference to radar etc.
A mobile device can of course be used outside, so can end up only being setup to use much fewer frequencies than a router designed for indoor use.
Sometimes the router isn't set to the right country, so ends up using frequencies it shouldn't really be using with the mobile device correctly set so ignoring those frequencies or the other way around. 5GHz is a lot more complex for what frequencies can and can not be used, see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels and the chart at the bottom, you'll understand why 5GHz devices sometimes don't see each other, it's a lot more confusing than 2.4GHz.

Using 5ghz wifi
Hi
To use 5ghz have you tried configuring from WIFI from settings - tapping the three dots next to the magnifying glass - Advanced - WIFI Frequency band.
It gives you the option of selecting 2.4 or 5 or both.

i had the same problem! Thank you so much for the fix!
You should be able to use channels 149-161 as well, it's the channels in between that are set aside for DFS and radar, so many devices don't support them.
Working fine for me on Channel 153 with a Nighthawk R7000.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
its suposed to work check if your router router chanel are setup correctly
Got mine to connected on the Virgin Media Superhub by changing the channels as suggested. Can confirm it works but very unstable and keeps dropping connection.
I got the same problem.
I got the same problem! I bought my N9 on Nov 11 and used 5GHz without problem until today. In the WiFi Analyzer suddenly can show 2.4GHz only. I have reboot and clear all WiFi App cache & data., still cannot show.
Even connect to 2.4GHz, it took long time to Connect and Authenticate the connection.

Been a while, but since this is one of the top Google results, and I've been pulling my hair for a couple of hours without finding a solution online, I thought I might chime in with what I found.
If your N9 is not seeing certain 5GHz channels, what is your model, WiFi or LTE? Also, apparently there is an "international" version of the LTE one, which I just got (I'm in the US) because it was cheap, and I didn't mind it affecting certain LTE bands, but I didn't think it would affect WiFi. In any case, the solution was to simply insert a SIM card from my region (T-mobile US) and the missing 5GHz networks appeared in the list. I don't have a solution if this is happening with WiFi-only Nexus 9's though.
You need to insert the SIM after turning on the tablet. If you turn it on with the SIM inserted, it won't show the hidden 5GHz channels. You can just reinsert it, or toggle off/on airplane mode though.
I also googled to see if there was an app to change Wifi regions, but the only one I found (from XDA) requires root, and doesn't work for this particular problem anyway.
Well I have never been able to connect to the 5ghz channel until now. Finally! Changing the router to use channel 48 for the 5ghz and it is running as expected. I love fixes like this.

Do you have a Wi-Fi or LTE model? If you have an LTE model have you tried inserting a SIM card like I said in the post above? I got access to the upper channels which are supposed to be higher performance. From 149 to 161.
whats the highest linkspeed you guys are getting? my nexus 6 gets 866Mbps , i guess it dpends on your AC router specs mine is ac1750 i think
what app do i use to check what channel my nexus 9 is connected to? i think its below 36

P20 Lite Can't Connect to 5Ghz WiFi

My friend's newly-bought Huawei P20 Lite cannot connect to 5Ghz WiFi. He tried numerous tricks like rebooting (phone and router) but none of them worked. Does P20 support 5Ghz wifi at all?
Not supported

How to switch to 2.4ghz
My p20 lite is always connected to 5ghz WiFi but drops out when a few metres away from the router, does anybody know how to force it to use the 2.4ghz frequency as this seems to have better range?.

If your device is rooted you can try this:
Change the file cfg_ane_lx1_hisi.ini or cfg_ane_lx2j_hisi.ini depend which model do you have.
This file is located in this path: /vendor/etc
Disable 5G doing this:
band_5g_enable=1
change to:
band_5g_enable=0
reboot
Then tell me if it work with you because I cannot run a test with mine because I don't have passwords for 5Ghz WiFi's around me.
I cant get 5ghz since I changed the phone to Dual phone. Not sure why

Wifi problems

Hi!
I noticed my honor 9 has some problems with the WiFi strength.
I have an honor 8 all, so I compared with it.
First of all wifi when is 2,4ghz is too slow (other phones speedtest does 77mb, honor 9 45mb max).
Second: my router has the automatic 5ghz switch.
At the same distance with the honor 8 from the router, the honor 9 switch to 2,4ghz (with the problem of the speed said above) and the honor 8 stay to 5ghz.
Can someone help me with this issue or say if your H9 have the same problem?
What's firmwares are yours honor 8 and 9 for your tests ?
Both oreo, latest builds ?
Oreo 368 (C432) in the Honor 9 (but it was the same with B180) and Nougat B407 for h8.
And in the same place a Huawei GT3 (LOL) wil 2,4ghz made 77Mb vs 42 of the Honor 8 and 9 with 2,4ghz
Unfortunately I have the same issue, to solve this I usually turn off the wifi and then I turn it on again. That should fix your problem. Sometimes, when I had my wifi on when I was away from the router and got closer I could only get the 2,4ghz signal and I'd get around 50mb of download speed, but when I do that it changes to the 5ghz signal and I'm able to get 180-200mb
Yeah the problem is that H9 switch off the 5ghz so easily, H8 instead, keeps it also of is farther.

Yeah, I also face that same issue and unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it... My iPad is able to stay connected to the main router at 5ghz in almost every place of my house, however my Honor 9 is only able to get 5ghz in a some places near the router. I fixed this by installing some more routers throughout the house, but it's never the same as using the main unit, as of the 2 additional routers I have only one of them is connected through cable. I hope Honor fixes this in a future update, as ever since I got the phone I've been having this issue (I got it a little after it was released, so I used Android 7 for around 6 months)

Frequent Wi-FI Connect-Disconnect @ 5GHz

Post MIUI Update 11.0.6.0, my device keeps on frequently disconnecting-reconnecting to my Wi-Fi connection, set at 5GHz.
However, if I am using the 2.5GHz connection, it never does the same but I am then forced to a much lesser internet speed.
Please help what and how to resolve this issue as I have already asked about it @ MI Forums, watched a lot of videos @ Youtube.
But no progress!
Thanks
Is the 5ghz signal has good connection? Try to be near the router
Cuz of the signal weak it will disconnect and try to connect to better connection

Everything works fine. Sitting right next to the router doesn't help either. I have replaced the device as well. Still same issue.
This issue is with all Mi and One Plus 7 device I have been using.

I think your router might have the problem. Check your router. Try resetting it or just contact the customer care of the router.
Try set your router to use lower channel for 5Ghz .

Could it maybe because of Android update ?

5Ghz Wifi not detecting

Hi,
I just got a new realme 7, and when i search for my wi-fi network it doesnt show de 5ghz, only the 2.4ghz.
I dont have any problem detecting the 5ghz on the PC and others mobile phones.
My router have the wifi 5ghz on the channel 149, so that shouldnt be a problem.
This has already happened to someone??
Best regards,
Rui Pinto

Hi, it might be that the 5 GHz Band you selected is banned in the country you are right now. Your PC or your other phones might not use this new and annoying feature but your realme 7 does. Try to google which bands are allowed in your country and set your router accordingly.
I had the same problem before with a router I bought in Germany and my phone connected just fine there. Then I brought the router to Indonesia and the same phone suddenly could not see my router anymore. Reason was that my router was set to auto-channel selection and in Indonesia only 4 channels are legal. After choosing manually one of the 4 channels it worked fine again.
Hope this helps
